He also talked through the likely wear-and-tear problems that will occur with an 80 year old handle and lock, but noted that there was no immediate need to replace the whole system.

The lock was not closing properly either so he fixed that as well. So happy with the service i would absolutely recommend him to anyone.

+ -1 moreHe took the entire mechanism apart and replaced a piece with something we had on hand and put everything back together. He also told us that he did not think that the repair would last, and that we should start shopping for a new door handle which includes a deadbolt lock--and it wasn't cheap! He was very nice, friendly and professional. It has been a month and the handle is still operational which is exactly what we were expecting from the locksmith service.
Description of Work: We could barely get the front door open because the handle was not working properly. He repaired door handle and lock on front door.

+ -1 moreI called Seth this morning to repair or replace my dead bolt. He came earlier than the promised time (awesome!) and tore into the lock. As he was working, he informed me of options, in case the fix wasn't a simple one. He also suggested to repair, rather than replace the lock, as I have a heavy duty lock. Once he took it apart, he found the bolt was worn and purchased a replacement. He got the replacement part in and all work completed within 90 minutes. A true professional who I will be happy to call on again.
Description of Work: Deadbolt broke this morning on my way out of the house, which required an immediate repair.

He fixed the door so quickly that he actually asked if there were any other locks around the house that could use a little help. (It turned out there were. He fixed the other one as well!) I've used other locksmiths before and some were good and others were even unprofessional. Seth Kenter is the owner of his business and obviously takes pride in what he does. I had a great experience. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: My front door was jammed. There was a problem with the cylinder of the lock. The door couldn't be opened from the outside. This is a big problem if you're trying to rent out a house.

He asked me to send him an email as a follow up to our conversation because he was on the road, he responded promptly and showed up as scheduled on Friday morning. It was the easiest transaction I've had so far.
Description of Work: We just moved into a new house and had the locks changed on our front door and an inside door leading into the kitchen from the garage. We wanted the same lock on both doors.

Description of Work: I called A-OK Locksmiths to change the locks on my new house Seth Kenfer told me it would be about three days before he could come by i said ok we made arrangements for that date the next day over at the new house i locked myself out of the house leaving inside house and car keys so i called my wife and asked if she could get the number and call seth , and see if he could come by early and let me in the house he said it was good timing someone else had cancelled thier appointment so he came over about a half hour later and went to work trying to get me in my house it took about twenty minutes because the locks where very good so after getting me in Seth went to work changing all the cylinders on the locks fitting them with new one's after that me and Seth where talking about my garage door how it was closing properly . He said let me take a look at them we went inside the garage he looked at the beams that made the door go up and adjusted them to line up and the doors started to work fine he didn't charge me for doing that on his bill it was detailed on every charge explaining everything he did and the price for it the prices where very reasonable , he cleaned up any mess he made and thanked me for using his services we shook hands and said are goodbye's.

When he was delayed on another job he called and let us know in good time and we postponed the job for an hour. He arrived on time and began working promptly. He did a highly competent and professional job. We even left him at the house for an hour by himself. He was done in about 90 minutes, which is a pretty impressive rate for removing and replacing six locks.

+ -1 moreWe called Seth from the parking lot of our lawyer's office after closing on our new house and he said he could be at the house in a couple hours. He showed up on time and got right to work. Seth took care of the locks and even took a look at our sliding glass door that we were a bit concerned about and gave us some advice/suggestions about it. The end price came out on the low end of what we expected and he was in and out of our house in about 30 minutes. Overall we were very pleased and we will definitely call him again and recommend him to others. The price was good, the service was prompt, Seth was very friendly and explained everything to us, and our new locks and keys work perfectly... there's nothing more we could ask for!

After seeing the different reviews on Angie's List, I decided to go with A-Ok Locks since all of the company's reviews were great and they were in the area. I called Mr. Kanter on a Tuesday to set up an appointment for Thursday. Mr. Kanter showed up on time, re-keyed two locks, replaced a door knob, and also put on a new lock for the garage which we could not get into since the key was missing. He worked quick and efficiently and the work was all done in under an hour. Mr. Kanter is very pleasant to work with and I will definitely use him for any future locksmith needs. I highly recommend him!!!
