David was great! He was extremely professional and was a great source of knowledge. Checked everything out and didn't try to up sell me. Great company. I will definitely use them again.

They arrived on time. They performed a complete inspection and then recommended cleaning. The process was completed efficiently and neatly. They did not try to oversell other services and/or repairs like other companies had. They were professional throughout the entire process. The owner even showed us how to build a more efficient fire which would assist in keeping the chimney flue clean for a longer period of time. Our experience with this company was excellent. We plan on using them for our future chimney needs.

i called David the Village Sweep on recommendation from several neighbors. his wife (i assume) answered the phone, and i proceeded to tell her how we had smoke coming in the house when we tried to light a fire and the smoke came back into the room. she proceeded to ask me some questions- did you open the damper, yes; do you have a cap atop the chimney, yes i think; did you try a test fire- no. she said to review the FAQ on their website, do a visual inspection of the fireplace/chimney, and do a test fire. after if i still had problems to call them back. i did and we had a working fire! i called back to thank her for her help and that we had our problem resolved. she said that now i was wiser and had saved myself some money. i thanked her again, and told her if i do ever have any other problems, i'd certainly call them again and would certainly refer them to anyone looking for a chimney specialist!

knowledgeable, personalable, experienced and professional chimney sweep

I bought a house and needed fireplace and chimney maintenance and repair. They said that they could provide the service, but since I am planning on installing a wood burning stove (which they don't do) they advised me that part of the installation process included the work I needed done. They didn't want me to pay twice for the service. They suggested several companies that install stoves. I appreciate their honesty their recommendations.

EXCELLENT. David not only cleaned the chimney, but repaired loose brick and but a chimney cap on to prevent squirrels from going in our chimney.

I was impressed with their honesty. They explained that since I have a gas furnace it does not need to be cleaned often. They explained everything to me and did not take advantage of me. They ended up giving me an estimate that was very fair.

The service was professional from start to finish. His company obviously keeps impeccable records so they were able to look up when they last did work on the house (with previous owners) and recommendations that were made in the past. They gave me estimates for the work over the phone and a revised version in person after surveying our needs. He had to assistants helping him who were equally professional. I was very pleased with the service and will definitely use them again -- and absolutely recommend them to others.

He is amazing. We are not ready to have the whole chimney repaired. He does cleanings and like minor repairs and we need a major repair. Regarding price, he is very competitive. We have used him for a number of years.

David showed up on time and well-equipped. He was courteous while expertly performing a diagnostic on all chimneys, outside and in. His cleaning and maintenance work was focused and thorough. He made sure that the rome were spotless after his work. Given that my 18 year old son was home, David also gave my son a tutorial on fireplace and chimney maintenance that my son still remembers.

Recently, he came out to clean the chimney and was able to notice a crack in the chimney that we hadn’t noticed. I was able to have that repaired in order to prevent much larger problems later on. He’s always very approachable, he gets here very fast, and he is extremely observant of problems as they are developing. He also found that the back wall of the fireplace had become detached. During Sandy, we were using nothing but the fireplace for fifteen days straight, and he was able to identify that the wall was separating, causing a fire hazard, fixing that as well.

Everything went smoothly. We were satisfied with our experience.

David The Village Sweep was excellent! Just as advertised, David came with his team and did a very thorough cleaning of our flu & fireplace. They were exceptionally careful not to track any dirt or ashes throughout our house. While David's team was taking care of business, David showed me how to build a more effective fire, through the upside down method. This not only works to build a better fire, but leaves less residue after the fire has burnt out. Overall we were very happy and would definitely recommend David The Village Sweep.

We hadn't had our 72 yr old chimney cleaned in several years because we have a gas fireplace. However, in the interest of safety, we had the Village Sweep come out to do an inspection and a light cleaning. We were pleased.

I called this company based on Angie's list and as luck would have it, they were the exact same ones who the previous owners of the house had contacted as well. Tess answered the phone and looked up my address and saw that they had been contacted a few years past by the previous owners and at the time the chimney didn't need a cleaning. The owners told us they never used it and I relayed that info to Tess and she informed us that there was really no need for them to come out as long as I could see the chimney caps. She also was very informative on what I can do and look for in the meantime and pointed me to her website for additional tips. I thought she was extremely helpful and not once tried to sell me their services but wanted to make sure I really got what I needed. Now that's customer service! I didn't need a cleaning so I can't say I used their services and can judge how good they are in that regard but I was impressed with their professionalism so in a couple years time when I really do need a cleaning, I'm going to be sure to call them.

Arriving on time (actually a bit ahead of schedule), they came in, David explained in detail the steps they were going to take. David and his TWO assistants took their shoes off and each put on soft clean boots on their feet. They then proceeded to do inspect the chimney, fireplace and basement flues located either inside or outside of the house. This included carefully removing and inspecting both boiler and water flues, thoroughly checking the chimney from the inside and then outside as well, and then closing everything up the way they found it, after finding no issues. I've used them before and they're clean and clean-up after themselves to ensure that nothing in your house gets dirty or damaged. The price David quoted was better than I thought since no work was needed to be done other than the inspection itself and the price was fair for what was done.

David and his team arrived on time and went to work immediately. They did a great job. Their review of our fireplaces, chimneys, and flues were thorough and honest. David gave me great advice saving me a lot of money on masonry work that I was told needed to be done. He also showed me how to build an amazing fire. Would use them again in an instant.

Super job! First, they had detailed records of the last time they had made a service call (for the previous home owners) which we were unaware of. They were on-time, professional, and curteous. They treated us and our home with respect (by protecting the surroundings from getting soot/dirt from the cleaning). They were very informative and gave good information in addition to the service that was performed.

Before leaving David took the time to provide some tips on using the fireplace including how to build an upside down fire. I have to say it was one of the best fires we've had in fireplace in the 6 years we lived in the house.

They were prompt - and had called the night before to confirm. They made sure to lay down covering before entering the house and also wore shoe coverings. David and crew inspected the Chimney and let us know one looked good and the second basement fireplace needed repair before use. He said the living room fireplace had a clean chimney and that it didn't need any cleaning - they cleaned/vacuumed out the actual fireplace that we had used because of Hurricane Sandy, showed us a quick tutorial on how to do an "upside down" fire and then left the place spotless. I liked that because he said we didn't need it, David didn't clean out the Chimney and let us know we wouldn't need to use him for cleaning for another 3 years or so which saved about $150. He said he'd put us on the list to contact in 3 years - and I believe he will. Overall a very good experience.

I had just gotten a bid from someone who came to my home and tried to frighten me into doing a lot of unnecessary work. I was completely ready to hear that I needed a substantial amount of work done and even questioned David about some of the issues the other company had raised. He told me that the work was unnecessary and explained all of the issues -- he was incredibly knowlegable and a great communicator. He did an outstanding job on the cleaning, came when he said he would, charged what his company had promised he would when I set up the appointment. It wasn't the least expensive cleaning I've ever gotten, but I've come to realize that other companies price chimney cleaning as a loss leader so they can get into your home and tell you that if you don't spend $500 or $600 with them, then you're in danger. On top of a great cleaning, he taught us how to build a cleaner burning fire so that our chimney gets less dirty. WE LOVED HIM.
