Dennis came out to evaluate my needs for a fire-rated apartment entry door as well as fixing the main door to the property. He didn't try to upsell on products or extras that I didn't need and was very easy to work with. The work was done on time and on budget. Would use again and refer to anyone who has door needs.

I am waiting for them to do some other work as well. They were great. Their guy, Dennis, came out to give me an estimate and was great to deal with. Every time I called him he called me right back. I had one little issue with the door and I called him today about it. He is having a guy come out Monday to take a look at it so he was pretty quick to have someone come out to take a look at it. They are going to start working next week on my front steps where I have a lot of concrete and bricks. They had the best price of three quotes I got.

He worked with me to match the lowest prices I had, even though he was using top-of-the-line Andersen windows. He took me to his supplier so I could see the windows close-up and ordered a sample to be mailed to me so I could check the product and color match. When his two-man crew began installation and I was unhappy with the color of the interior wood frames, he left his office immediately and was at my house to work out a solution, even though I live in Essex and he had to travel from Union county.He was always pleasant to deal with and his workers were skilled. Some of the interior frames, for example, had to be painted to achieve the color I wanted and that was done graciously and without additional charges. I am pleased with the final job and I highly recommend Dennis and his company. He is knowledgeable, professional, and honest.

Knowledgeable representative came for in-home consultation. Replacement front door ordered from catalogs at that meeting. All questions were answered on the spot. Prices was competitive. Work was done on time and professionally. Would definitely use again.

They are fantastic. They are an extremely loyal company. If you are a repeat customer they give you a discount. Their work is good and if you are not happy, just call them back and they would fix whatever it is you did not like. The guy who did the front door, he knew what he wanted he worked till he got it that way. We have an old house and in summer the door shapes are not the coolest in creation. But it is an excellent company don?t leave them for anything. Their price is reasonable it was pretty up to par with whatever others were asking. Since I was a returning customer I got my 10% discount. He ordered the door. As a first time customer they ask for a set amount down and as a returning customer they don?t ask for quite so much. Ones you have established you are going to return as a customer you get a little more lee-way. In a timely fashion they came back with the door which they had ordered. They put the door in. I don?t know how long it took him. But my house is 100 years old and we keep it in good shape. It took him a little longer to do it exactly the way he wanted it to. He is a perfectionist. About the cellar door, they installed that last year. When we bought the house in ?79 and it was already 30 years old. The cellar door was old and rusted. They replaced it. Again as our house is odd sized they had to order it special. They put it in and did cementing of the sides. I had rain seeping in through the old door. So they built it up with cement a little so that the rains don?t seep in anymore. They do doors, windows and couple of other things and I would get them to do all that for my house because I am that happy with them. I recommend them to everybody.

Dennis, the owner, returned my call Saturday evening, which was the same day I called. When I told him I burned up 1/3rd tank of oil the previous week due to a poorly installed attic fan and only a half-insulated attic, he agreed to come look at the job Monday at noon. (I had just moved into the house and was unaware of these problems.) Dennis arrived on time and was very pleasant and professional. He inspected the fan and the attic, took measurements and discussed my options. I was in a hurry to resolve these problems and so Dennis called his insulation supplier and completed the estimate on the spot. Dennis gave me a price quote of $300 to build, insulate and install the box. The price for the partial roof insulation was $649. While I usually would price out a job with 2 other contractors, I decided to go with Dennis because the price seemed very fair and he had time to do the job that Wednesday. Dennis informed me that he would have Norbert, who worked with him for four years, come and do the work. Norbert arrived on time, did very good work and left my attic floor much cleaner than it had been. I was very pleased with the entire experience. P.S. I asked Dennis to go through the entire house, starting with the basement and make recommendations for doors, windows and insulation. He pointed out work that needed doing, gave me estimates and also informed me that some things I thought needed work were not really necessary. I definitely plan to use Dennis again when I am ready to do more work.

Since our original contractor didn't do custom made doors or Bilco doors, we were just going to use Essex Doors and Windows to do it. After they gave us a very fair and reasonable estimate for the 4 doors, we decided to give the entire job to them. We wanted a front door with a mail slot and they accidentally ordered us one without. They quickly fixed the problem by ordering the matching mail slot. There was a communication problem between the owner and one of his workers when it came time to install it. They made an appointment with us on a Saturday morning to install the mail slot and they never showed or called. They wound up coming a few days later to install it. There was also a mix up of how much balance we owed them which we quickly resolved by advising them of the check number we had paid the down payment with. Regardless of the hiccups, I must admit this company does very good work. The installers cared about the job and how it looked and was responsive to any requests we might have had. We have not had any issues and lots of people have commented on how beautiful it all looks. We even had a handyman over recently and he commented on how well all the doors were installed. Outside of the mail slot issue, the owner was in constant contact with me keeping me up to date on everything.

The president was the one that came. They told me it would take 3 or 4 weeks, and it took months. They never return phone calls (including the president and vice president) and aren't open every day. They didn't give instructions on what to do to paint or stain and said they did. They have always been very rude. They do not give straight answers. A year later, I am STILL trying to find out what to do with the sap spot so I can paint the door. It is an unfinished door, and it has to be baked to stain or paint it. They told me they always bake their doors, but mien has not been. It has been very unpleasant.

ESSEX REPLACEMENT DOORS & WINDOWS WAS AN OUTSTANDING COMPANY TO WORK WITH. THEY GOT THE JOB DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER AND I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER WITH THE RESULTS. THEIR EMPLOYEES WERE VERY POLITE AND THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE.
