Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I am a senior citizen. My bathtub drain was suddenly not working. I attempted to plunge it, but was not strong enough to do an effective job. I called these people out of the phone book. A man showed up on time, and pretended to look at the pipes behind a wall panel. Then he went down to the basement to look at more pipes. He told me I would need to have the pipes snaked, and pour a gallon of toxic chemicals down all my drains once a month. The charge would be $350.00. I told him it was much too much. He offered me a 10% senior citizens discount. I told him to leave; he was a rip-off artist. I then was able to get a relative to come over, who plunged the drain. He was stronger than I, and was able to block the overflow effectively. Out popped a plastic bottlecap, and the drain was 100% perfect. All of the walking around and looking at pipes was pure scam. I called the number back, and told my story to the supervisor, whose name is Ray Patrick. They are not listed under a separate address. He was not responsive; just told me the plunging was a temporary fix. But the drain is fine; it was one single object. I think they are a total rip off gang.

Dave was the ONLY plumber who responded to our emergency call. This issue occurred the day after we moved into our new house, It was a Saturday afternoon during Labor Day weekend. We literally called every emergency plumber number in the phone book and American Home Shield was also trying to find us a plumber. We were very lucky that Dave called us back and was able to come out and resolve our problem for us. Obviously, it was a very distressing situation so it was quite a relief when Dave fixed the problem and gave us the recommendation to re-route the pipes to prevent future issues. It was a great feeling to have the problem fixed and also to know what we would do to make sure that never happened to us again.

I thought the price was outrageous. They chose a sink for me without giving me any input.

I have used them before and have always been happy. They are always on time and on quote. I was a little unhappy that they did not take more care I preserving my lawn. I thought they could have put tarps down and placed the dirt from the excavating on the tarps to preserve the grass. They initially lost a great amount of time trying to find the coupler to hook us back up to the street. I told them from the start to just replace the who pipe at the street but they did not want to dig another four feet. In the end everything is fine the pipes will last about 60 years so I will have no more trouble.

My drain does work now. I have had no problem since they came out. The problem with this company is the cost. They did a great job though. I would use them again, but I would call around for pricing first.

I called and they dispatched a person right away. The plumber, Mel, was polite, friendly, and very informative. He looked at a few issues not related to the problem and was happy to give free advice on what he thought I should do to fix the problems. When he proceeded to work, he was careful not to make a mess and was upfront with the price. I did feel that $340 to unblock a drain was extremely high. I had another plumber (Union Master Plumber) quote $225, but he couldnt make it out right away. I feel better knowing that Roto Rooter offers a 6-month guarantee on their work.

It did not go so well, although the folks responded to our emergency call within an hour and came to the house soon. We just wanted to exchange the 8 year old leaking water heater with a one that had better energy factors. And that posed obviously a big problem. The plumber was not aware of different levels of energy saving and the supply store was not cooperative as well. On the phone calling from the supply store without any helpful information about type, price, warranty and time to delivery it was almost impossible to make a decision. Roto Rooter came back with a heater model that was almost as bad as the one we had installed. For the installation I should pay $635, including the heater it would come to $1300. Fortunately, the supply store took the poor quality heater back. The plumber told me that I should choose the better heater, order it and call them when its delivered. They did not offer any advise or help. I had to pay 120$ just for the "consultation" by Roto Rooter.

I had a representative come over and quote me a price for both jobs. He could not perform it because it would require two workers to fix the drain (it had a drum trap that could only be accessed from beneath), but he left me with a price quote. I should mention that he had looked at the drain for quite some time and had ascertained that it was a drum drain and that it could only be accessed from below. I set up a time to have two people do the work. Imagine my surprise when one person showed up. He went on to inform me that they couldnt possibly honor their quote because it didnt reflect the difficulty of getting to the drain or the unusual type of drain that he was. I decided not to have them perform the work.

IT WAS A BIG JOB, AND HE EVEN BROUGHT IN A BACK HOE. THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB, AND THEIR PUNCTUALITY WAS MORE THAN EXCELLENT! I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THE REPAIR WORK ON MY SEWER PIPE.

Roto-rooter would not give an estimate over the phone, but they promised to send someone within two hours. It was an emergency, so I chose their service. The plumber arrived about an hour after I called, but the price was much higher than expected.

THE TIMES OF ARRIVAL WERE NOT RELIABLE. THAT IS THEY KEPT CHANGING. HOWEVER WHEN I WAS TOLD THAT THE TECHNICIAN WAS LEAVING THE PRIOR JOB HE ARRIVED WITHIN AN HOUR. THE TECHNICIAN WAS PLEASANT, SKILLED AND EFFICIENT. THE PRICE WAS LOWER THAN I HAVE PAID FOR SIMILAR SERVICE. THERE IS NO SURCHARGE FOR SATURDAY.

POLITE PHONE SERVICE, PLUMBER WAS LATER THAN EXPECTED - CLAIMED COULD NOT FIND PARKING, BUT MY HUSBAND SAW HIM SITTING IN HIS TRUCK DOWN THE BLOCK. PERFORMED JOB WELL, 6 MONTH GUARANTEE, INFORMED US THAT WE MIGHT WANT TO EVENTUALLY REPLACE PIPE BECAUSE IT IS SMALLER THAN STANDARD SIZE, BUT FOR NOW WE SHOULD USE ONLY LIQUID DETERGENTS AND KEEP AN EYE ON IT. EXPENSIVE.

MY EXPERIENCE BEGAN VERY NEGATIVELY WITH THE FIRST TECHNICIAN REFUSING TO DO THE WORK BECAUSE HE COULDN'T FIND A CLOSE ENOUGH PARKING SPACE. ONCE THIS WAS RESOLVED, THE WORK WAS DONE WELL. MY CONCERN WAS THE BILLING. ONCE THE ITEMIZED BILL WAS FINALLY PROVIDED (I HAD TO MAKE THE REQUEST NUMEROUS TIMES), I FOUND THAT THEY DOUBLE CHARGED ME FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE DECKING AND CHARGED FOR CEMENT DRILLING THAT WAS NOT DONE. AFTER 6 WEEKS, I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO CONVINCE THE MANAGER TO CREDIT MY ACCOUNT FOR THESE OVERAGES. THEY STATE THAT THEIR FLAT RATES PROTECT THE CUSTOMER IN THE CASE THAT THE WORK IS MORE COMPLICATED THAN EXPECTED. CONVERSELY, THE CUSTOMER WHOSE JOB IS SIMPLER THAN EXPECTED OVERPAYS! THE PROBLEM IS THAT I HAD DIFFICULTY FINDING A PLUMBER WHO WAS WILLING TO COME IN TO THE CITY. THOUGH THE SERVICE WAS POOR, THE WORK WAS GOOD AND FOR THOSE REASONS, IF I'M EVER IN NEED OF PLUMBING WORK, I MAY BE FORCED TO GO BACK TO THEM!

WOW. IT WAS A PLEASURE TO DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. WHAT A DISASTER. THEY CAME IN, AS PROMISED, ON TIME. THEY GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE FOR THE SERVICE, AND DID NOT EXCEED THIS PRICE. THEY HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED WITHIN 2 HOUR AND GAVE ME A 6 MONTH GUARANTEE ON THE WORK DONE. THE GUYS WERE POLITE, NEAT, AND PROFESSIONAL.

THEY CUT INTO MY MAIN WATER SUPPLY LINE & COULDNT SHUT IT OFF! THIS COMPANY RUINED OVER $10,000 WORTH OF ITEMS IN MY HOME. PLUMBER DIDNT THE HAVE EQUIPMENT ON HIS TRUCK TO DO THE JOB, OR TO DO REPAIRS WHEN THEY MESSED UP. PLUMBER WAS 5 HRS. LATE AND WHEN HE FINALLY ARRIVED, PANICKED WHEN HE CUT INTO MY MAIN LINE. WOULD NOT USE THEM AGAIN.

THEY WERE VERY FRIENDLY. THEY HAD REASONABLE PRICES. THEY CAME OUT IN LESS THAN 24HRS. WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THE JOB. WELL DONE.

HE WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT A LEAK IN MY BASEMENT WAS NOT FROM THE PLUMBING. I INSISTED THAT THEY CLEAN MY DRAINS, EVEN THOUGH HE WAS VERY HONEST WITH ME AND TOLD ME I DIDN'T NEED IT. THEY ALSO OFFER A 90 DAY GUARANTEE ON THEIR WORK. I'VE USED THEM OFF AND ON FOR YEARS AND HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THEM. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM AND WILL CONTINUE TO USE THEM.

THEY CAME WITHIN 8 HOURS OF CALL. THEY WERE LATE BUT THEY CALLED TO SAY THEY WOULD BE. THEY GOT THE JOB DONE BUT THE PRICE HAD GONE UP FROM ABOUT 70.00 TO 200.00 IN ABOUT 2 YEARS.

THE MEN WHO REPLACED MY WATER HEATER WERE VERY NICE. THEY DID THE JOB IN A VERY PROMPT AND EFFICIENT MANNER. I WAS PLEASED WITH THE WORK PERFORMED. I WAS VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE PRICE.

THEY WERE ON TIME, VERY PROFESSIONAL AND POLITE. THEY ARE EXPERTS AND HAVE UP-TO-DATE EQUIPMENT.

THE SERVICE WAS CONDUCTED QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY.

THE PLUMBER WAS VERY NICE, ON TIME. HE CLEANED UP AFTER THE JOB WAS DONE. HE TOLD ME ALL ABOUT THE PROBLEM BEFORE DOING THE JOB.

THE PERSON CLEANING THE LINE WAS VERY COURTEOUS. THE REP KEPT WORKING UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED, EVEN THOUGH IT SEEMED LIKE THE DAMAGE WAS UNEXPLAINABLE.

THEY ARRIVED QUICKLY, GAVE A FAIR QUOTE AND COMPLETED THE WORK IMMEDIATELY. VERY POLITE; EXPLAINED WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND DILIGENTLY CLEANED UP.

RESPONDED PROMPTLY AND QUICKLY. QUALITY IS SIMILAR TO OTHER PLUMBERS, BUT THEY LEFT A MESS BEHIND TO BE CLEANED UP BY ME.
