+ 1 moreThe company sent out a two-man crew with a small backhoe and dug up and replaced the pipe in one day. They did great work, and were friendly and professional. There was a delay in getting an inspection permit, which seemed to be an office mistake. Once we waited for several days and notified the company they admitted the mistake and took care of it. The crew returned and finished the job, filled the hole and graded the driveway where the pipe was replaced. Overall the work done was excellent, but the cost seemed a bit high, but it was a relief to have the sewer line problem repaired. The job took about a day and a half, but about 10 days waiting for the permit and inspection to be completed.
Description of Work: We were having sewer line backup problems and were told by Roto Rooter that the line from the house to the main needed to be replaced. This seemed reasonable because we needed to have the line cleared several times in the last couple of years, and it was in vicinity of tree roots, and was a very old pipe. We had the company give us a quote and also got a quote from another plumbing firm. Roto Rooters quote was about $2000 more than the other firm, but we were able to negotiate the price down somewhat. We elected to go with Roto Rooter because they had the proper equipment and experience to get the digging and pipe installed in one or two days. The other plumber did not have digging equipment and could not guarantee a quick job if the digging became difficult or time consumming.

+ 2 moreThey had the lowest estimate that we got. It was fine and they were on time. They did it within the timeframe that they had said it would take to finish it. It has a 5-year warranty on the work. It was the price that they quoted us. We didn't have any big complaints.
Description of Work: We used Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Service because our sewer pipe collapsed and they replaced it. They had to dig it from the basement to the sidewalk.

+ 0 moreThey had to work from the roof because I'm on a slab. He did a good job and cleared the drain but the only problem I had was with the pricing. They actually presented 3 prices for me for the same job before I accepted the offer. I was a little bothered that they kept dropping to price to get the job. The first bid started at about $400.... I ended up paying closer to $200.

I had two other companies that not even showed up. They all the equipment on the truck, and these guys were also very nice. They seemed to like what they were doing, which is rare.

+ 0 moreOur hot water heater broke and we discovered it late at night. they came out, shut it off so it would stop leaking, and gave an estimate for replacement, which was about three times the price we got at home depot the next day. They were very quick and the guy who came was nice, but extremely expensive.

+ 0 moreWhen they came back the second time, they could not get through with the roto-rooter and looked down the pipes with a camera. They located the roots underneath the driveway and wanted $8,000 to fix the problem which involved tearing up the driveway or I could try a jet pressure system that was $900. I ended up getting everything taken care of with a different company for $275.
Description of Work: They came out twice. The first time they roto-rooted the clog and removed some debris. We then realized that there were roots blocking the pipe as well.

+ -1 moreThe plumber was prompt and courteous. He did a good job. Quality is one thing, but price needs to be just as much a factor. The price for the skill-set is out of whack. I know attorneys who make less.
Description of Work: After moving to a new house, I purchased a new washing machine and the hoses from the old machine were rusted to the water valve. I needed the fixture replaced. The plumber was prompt and friendly. However, I felt the price bordered on gouging....$250 dollars to replace a valve. The job took less than an hour and the parts maybe cost $20. After taxes, the average person would need to work a full day or more to pay for what is a very minor repair taking less than an hour. You would only pay slightly more in labor to have an entire water heater installed!

+ -1 moreI thought that they were kind of pricey - their service was very good but the price was outrageous. They made a mistake the first day, but they were right back the next day to fix it. It actually wasn?t a mistake; it was rather a defect in the freeze-proof faucet. They took a part off of a good faucet of mine and used it on the other one that had the defective portion, and they put the defective portion on another freeze-proof faucet. I hope they return that part and not use it someplace else. It was a $42 faucet and I would think that they charged me about $250 to install it. I chose them because they had a $30 discount offer. Actually, I didn?t know that the job would cost me so much. I would look around for somebody cheaper the next time I need some work done.
Description of Work: We used Roto Rooter to replace a faucet, a sink in the kitchen and two outdoor freeze-proof faucets. They provided the freeze-proof faucets as well.

+ -1 moreCrew was polite and helpful with camera. But, no knowledge of sump pumps- that was "another crew". I think, as a big company, Roto-Rooter has too many different crews and could not deal with the obvious- replace the (cheap 4-year old ) sump pump with a really good one. Tunnel vision here- "dig" was their training. I did speak with the supervisor, but again, they never sent the "other crew".Again, the two gentlemen were great to look at the entire pipe for me. Their solution was entirely flawed.Sorry.
Description of Work: The 2 man crew responded promptly on 8/05/09. We have a 4-inch drainage water pipe leading 70 feet to a culvert. I had dug a 5 foot hole down at the origin and found Orangeberg (soft, fiber material). They confirmed that this was partially collapsed. They used an access hole and ran a camera all the way to the end. It was relatively clear. But, they wanted to dig the first 20 feet with a machine and install a pipe for $3,000! Then, IF this did not drain, perhaps go all the way back for $15-20K! I appreciated the free camera, but solved it with a good sump-pump over a 2 foot wall for $525 with an Angie's plumber.The 50 foot pipe it pumps to works fine.

+ 0 moreThey did a lot of things to remedy the issue. They worked both from the inside and outside of the house to make sure they had cleared the clog. The initial technician who came didn't have powerful enough equipment, so he called back up help. They had no problems with doing what needed to be done. They were very careful as far as pricing explaining everything that needed to be done to be sure the line was clear before they did it. They were professional but also down-to-earth.
Description of Work: We used Roto Rooter to de-clog a sewage pipe in the basement.

+ -1 moreMy plumber was fixing a number of issues for me. He spent three hours and charged us under $300. He mentioned that I should call roto rooter to snake a drain. I called and scheduled an appointment with Roto Rooter. They showed up on time and did not charge a fee for the estimate. However they wanted to charge me $315.00 for the minor project. I told him that the price seemed high and declined his buisness. Once I said no thank you, He suddenly was able to come up with a drastically lower price. He then offered to drop the price $90.00. This ticked me off because I caught him trying to take advantage of me. I asked him to leave and I immediatly spread the word to all of my friends.

+ 0 moreI called at 1:00 am and they were here by 8:00 am. They were only here an 1 1/2 on Sunday Morning and the problem was fixed. They cleaned up afterwords. It was great. They were fabulous I actually called Roto-Rooter and told them how much I liked the guy that came out and how happy I was. I felt like they did not try to take advantage of the situation as it was an emergency.
Description of Work: I had an emergency over the weekend. I put artichokes in the garbage disposal and it jammed it up. I tried plunging it and putting Drano in the garbage disposal.

He even checked something outside and told me that nothing was wrong. I liked the fact that he was very honest. He could have made something up to charge me for, but he didn't.
