Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

They are great. Every time we have a problem, we call them. They are always on time. They come the day I call them no matter what time it is. They are always very professional and polite. Their estimate is pretty accurate.

They work was fine. The technician was professional. I think they were priced a little high.

This was on the weekend. I contacted Roto Rooter b/c they advertised that they did not charge more for weekends or emergencies. I would have waited until a weekday if it wasn't so hot. The smell was unbearable. The technician suggested that my main drain was clogged, which would require underground work & would be expensive. He showed me two areas of concern. I told him that I had this problem 5 years ago & it only required the plumber to unclog the drain using a snake. This cost $100.00,five years ago. I also showed him the manual snake that I had which did not work. Roto-Rotter did the very same thing using a professional snake for $300.00. This took less than 15 minutes!! I called two other plumbers that week & asked how much it would cost for this service the price was $125 & &150.00

Provided arrived promptly and with the necessary equipment. I had assumed the old pump was bad, and the plumber confirmed that. Price quoted was for the complete job (that is how they work). The pump cost $350 dollars. The job turned out to take one man an hour and a half. That works out to more than $500 per hour for labor (there was only one person involved). I understand the concept of job based pricing, but the estimate in this case turned out to be ridiculous. I got the estimate prior to the plumber starting the job, but as a lay-person had, of course, no idea how long the job would take. They need to have some way to adjust prices depending on the job or make better time estimates. I talked to a manager later and was told that job-based pricing was their policy and since they had provided an estimate I was bound by it. (I had paid the plumber at the completion of the job, and this was just follow up.

The job was done fine, however the charge was very high at $240.00

They got it repaired and gave me pointers on things I can do differently. They even gave me a complimentary solution to clear up the drain. They listened and answered every question I asked. I am very satisfied with the work.

He got the job done and everything was cool. They were incredibly responsive but they were a little pricey. They were out immediately. It was a bad clog. I feel like I paid the extra price for the quick response.

They fix it. They came out right away and did a good job.

Ok, buy really expensive for services rendered.

The two men that did the work arrived in a short time after we called their office. They were very courteous and explained what they were doing. We felt that the men were very experienced and did their job in a professional manner. We were very pleased with our experience.

My son-in-law recommended Roto-Rooter. I waited until Monday to call thinking it would be cheaper than on the weekend only to learn it did not matter when I called or when the plumber actually came out, the price would be the same. Even with the discount, the price was $300.00 just to have a drain unclogged. He was here less than half an hour and the work itself was five to ten minutes tops. I was happy with the servide but not the price. I do not know the going rate for plumbers for this specific job but the price seems extremely high. I agreed to the price just to get the job done as I had already waited several days so I cannot complain but I will not use them again because I am sure I could have gotten it done for less somewhere else. I should have found out what the minimum charge was to have anything done. When I called my son-in-law to tell him how much it cost me he was shocked. He will never recommend them again.

I am very happy with Roto-Rooter's service. The first tech that showed up could not do the job; the company sent David immediately and he fixed the problem immediately. In the future I would definitely hire when I need more service. I am also glad to recommend to others.

Was having someone come out to give me an estimate. Gave us the estimate and offered to do the work then. We opted to get the work done and didn't have any issues. It was a bit pricey, but we've been able to call a few times with various questions. Also, other companies tend to provide a video of the issues (vs a report). All in all, no major issues/complaints.

Called to fix a leaky kitchen faucet. Dispatcher said someone could be at my house within the hour. The servicer arrived in about an hour. He did not announce himself or the company, which is unprofessional, but I asked him for his name (Ken) and confirmed that he was with Roto Rooter. I showed him the problem and he immediately announced that it was going to cost $268 to fix. I asked him how he knew that so quickly, and he replied "I've been doing this a long time." I asked if there was a pricing guide that he follows and he pointed to his head and said something like "it's all up here." That's what I hate about these service companies....the prices always seem so arbitrary. I asked him what my options were and he went through three different scenarios with the cheapest being the $268 option. I pleaded with him to give me a break if the job ended up being relatively easy. He agreed. He began working and it only took him about 10-15 minutes to finish. Afterwards he said "ok, that was pretty easy... I'll only charge you $168, how does that sound?" I love how they make you think you are getting a great deal when they are probably still robbing you. He also included a 6 month warranty, which is obviously better than nothing, but could probably have been longer if I paid more $$. Overall, the service was extremely quick and Ken was pleasant. Not sure what to think about the final price.

Our kitchen sink was leaking so we asked the plumber to look at it. He spent maybe 20 minutes looking around and said that since our sink brand was American Standard, they are known to be low quality and difficult to repair because the parts are not labeled with a number like other sink manufacturers do. So he said the time it takes for him to find out what the issue is and to repair it, it will be almost the same price as just replacing the sink with a better quality one. He recommended Moen as a better brand whose customer service is excellent. He showed me several different sink heads that I can choose from and also indicated which ones he has in the back of his truck. I chose an inexpensive Moen one and he was done with the new sink head in 30 minutes. He was very professional and curteous. After he was done, he asked if there were any other plumbing needs or concerns that I had. I showed him my 2 toilets that are leaking an orange color into the bowl, and he found that the caulking probably wore off so water is leaking and also the nut inside the toilet tank was rusting, hence the orange color. He said American Standard makes good toilets and that he can replace both for $650. I declined as they are fine for now.

They were prompt and fixed the problem.

I was pleased with the service provided. Each member of the company I dealt with was polite and professional, and answered all my questions to my complete satisfaction. They listened to and understood my concerns regarding the potential need to dig in my neighbor's yard, and showed me the inspection of the line with the video camera. They were happy for me to watch progress, and they arranged for the township inspector to visit promptly. They inspected the entire line with the camera before they filled the hole and checked I was happy before leaving the site. They made good as far as possible.

The salesman was extremely rude and gave me a high price for the work. UPDATE: Several months ago, a representative from the company called to address my complaints. While I did not use Roto-Rooter, she was able to determine who the original salesman was, and let me know that the company would address my concerns. The attempt at repairing the relationship was very much appreciated, and demonstrates that the company does indeed take seriously its' reputation.

It was great. He came out on a Sunday morning. He came out right away and fixed the problem.

I called Roto-Rooter about 2:00 PM. They said a "technician" would be there by 4:30 PM. I made arrangements to wait. They called at 3:30 and said we were the next job and still should be there by 4:30 PM. At 4:40 PM I called and spoke to the dispatcher and was told they would be there next. The technician arrived about 5:45 and I told him the problem. We looked for an outside cleanout but there isn't any. When the job had to be done inside the house we were quoted $575 for cleaning out the pipe. And the toilet was still removed! He spent about 45 minutes to get the clog. We ran water from the side of the house that was upside the clog and it flowed well. The technician, Scott, then ran a video camera down the soil pipe. It was clear to street but 27' from the house two tree roots were seen infiltrating the pipe. He quoted $2750 to have the pipe excavated and replaced, after we removed the tree. We have to think about that.

Work was done in a professional matter but we were overcharged. We used them because they took care of problem immediately.

It was very good service. The gentleman work very hard. He used a camera to access the sewer. Fixed the issue quickly. He was nice and knowledgeable. He did warn about future work needed to be done and gave me an estimate.
