Description of Work: Chris cleaned up my laptop so that it runs faster & better. He finished the job in the allotted hour and was pleasant and professional.

Description of Work: VERY pleased. |Chris resolved the issue I was having and performed all updates as well as memory upgrades necessary. He also promptly resolved some unforeseen issues that arose as can sometimes be the case particularly with a computer like mine that required as much TLC as it did. |I thought so highly of his work I have recommended him to be our off site consultant going forward. We intend to move forward with this in the near future as currently we do not have an IT person. We have an employee who knows more than the average bear but has a full time position keeping her very busy already. |Our goal is to be proactive rather than reactive and Need a Tech Guy offers that solution. | |

Description of Work: He remotely accessed my laptop and removed a multitude of viruses and corrupted files. My computer has never run so quickly. He didn't think he was going to be able to clean it up but he never gave up. I am going to use him for my desktop computer. I highly recommend Chris, he did a great job for me.

Description of Work: Computer wasn't working. I called Chris and he was able to address the issue over the phone by walking me through a few steps. My computer was then able to boot up successfully and now continues to work.

Description of Work: We used a deal purchase to try and debug our computer. The provider called and spent more than the allotted one hour trying to figure out what was wrong with the computer, but he couldn't do it remotely. He had a lot of good ideas, but I think our computer was too far gone.

Description of Work: the first time he cleaned up my computer, installed a better firewall and gave my instructions. the second time he went to my husbands office, took the computer due to the fact that it was a mess and cleaned it up and returned it working perfectly. My husband ran into a problem on a Sunday trying to work the computer at home. He called and he worked with us on the phone to sync it to home, at that time, no charge although we suggested he bill us. All in all, he was by far the best tech worker we ever used. We would highly recommend.

Description of Work: He was able to get on my computer remotely, then He ran anti virus programs and helped me do a couple other adjustments to my computer. My computer is running very nicely I would use him again if I have any problems.

Description of Work: They tuned up my computer remotely. I tried to call him back and put in a return call back. He didn't call back. I called the number on my caller ID and got an investment firm. It could have been wrong number that I dialed but not the first call, the request for call back wasn't. I was uncomfortable thinking that a computer company had control of my computer with all my information and it was really an investment company.

Description of Work: The provider was prompt in answering my request for service. He answered my questions and was quite patient with my lack of computer knowledge. I would definitely contact him for any future problems with my computer. Overall I would highly recommend him for this type of service.

Description of Work: Arrived promptly and got right to work cleaning up computer and installed IE11 update with Win7 SP1 update (tried on my own in past, but just couldn't get it to install). Also linked up my 2 main email accounts to Outlook on my desktop, so I don't have to go through steps of logging into them separately through websites. Entire process took almost 2 hours due to long download times for IE11/Win7SP1 upgrades, but Chris was reasonable about charge for extra hour and had built time into his schedule to allow for possibility that he may need to stay over the 1 hour $75 Angie's list deal. Overall, pleased with service and would use him again.

Description of Work: Used vendor based upon Angie's List recommendation. I've used several other Angie referrals with no major concerns. Based upon this experience, I'll be more cautious toward any future recommendation, especially for anything with a more complicated requirement. | |I had been looking for a computer technician to assist in setting up a new computer network. Thought 'Tech Guy' might meet needs and thought I'd try him out. Gave him a basic task to speed up an older computer that's being maintained to accommodate an abandoned IBM software, whose system was structured for specific uses. 'Tech Guy' started doing the normal stuff in clearing out old files, but didn't improve speed with any significance. | |In his processing, and talking about his knowledge, I pointed out to the software I was utilizing and that it wasn't saving files correctly to a windows format. I handed him a disk of the software and he promptly placed it in the drive and found it wasn't loading properly. Watching him offer various reasons, trying different things, I suggested that maybe the disk wasn't the correct disk, which he then confirmed. At this point he had fouled up the software and suggested I repurchase the same revision. He proceeded to look online where I could purchase it, advising there was nothing more he could do. His hour was about up, wished me luck, and was gone. | |Just to note, I had purposely handed him an older revision of the software in order to determine his propensity toward details. I obviously didn't want to engage someone for a larger project who couldn't be an asset to my limited knowledge. He never checked the revision when the software wouldn't load properly, and then left with no suggestion to allow me to operate the software after having deleting some structural components of the software in his 'housecleaning' of the hard drive. | |If I had been a complete neophyte, I'd have been between a rock and a hard place. Fortunately I had set the computer up to a restore point the night before and reset my system back to that point, in case the 'Tech Guy' wasn't as technically efficient as I sought. | |After watching him work - for the average everyday home computer user and likely basic problems, the 'Tech Guy' is as good as the Geek Squad and less expensive. And as for Angie's List recommendations, they should always be taken with a tablespoon of caution.
