Description of Work: I was shopping for a professional chimney sweeper and what was most important to me was punctuality, honorability and of course a vendor with a history of good ratings. I called Fred the Owner of COLONIAL CHIMNEY SWEEPERS and left a voicemail request a return phone call. Fred called me back in less than 2 hours during the middle of a business day ( punctuality). I explained to him that I wanted to clean my gas burning fire place. Fred verbally walked through so steps with me over the phone, based on my answers, Fred determined I did not need to clean to fire place. I just needed to replace the ceramic logs on the bottom (which I could do myself). Fred did the honorable thing and I am grateful for that. Now I know why COLONIAL CHIMNEY SWEEPERS gets "A" ratings. Well, if I could, I would give him an " A+" rating. Thank you Fred, thank you Angie's list. This was my first experience using this service and so far it has been a win, win situation for me.

Description of Work: Fred was very nice and I was lucky to get him in very quickly as we have been hiring several types of firms for an serious mold problem that started before Hurricane Irene and has continued. One of the things recommended was a chimney sweep. He cleaned our fireplace & chimney in living room. He inspected the chimney and cleaned from bottom up. It was quite dirty and Fred took care that the house didn't get dirty in the process. He gave us all kinds of information that will prove helpful. Can't wait till Friday when it is expected to get quite chilly here in Jersey in the evening and we will be building a safe fire. Btw. found out after he left, from his solicitation magnet that he also sharpens knives. Wish I had known while he was here. Might just have to call him back after we finish with all the mold related contractors.

 + -1 moreI have been using Fred for at least ten years. Can't say enough good things about him. He responds to phone calls quickly, arrives promptly for appointments and is very pleasant to deal with. He keeps meticulous records and will remind us in writing and by phone if we are due for service. Although there were certain years when we hadn't used the fireplace, Fred was understanding and did not try to pressure us to do unnecessary work, but still would call to remind us the following year. He covers all surfaces and makes sure to clean up after himself.

I can't remember what I paid for the chimney cleaning they did for me but it was quite reasonable. I will be calling them again in the future, I feel sure. I will put the word out also that they are very good to deal with and I would recommend them.

As always, Fred Heinrich returned our telephone call promptly and we were able to make an appointment for a mutually convenient time a few days later. Fred Heinrich is courteous and punctual. His chimney sweeping is efficient, thorough and extremely clean, not a speck of soot or any lingering "sooty" odor. He also offers helpful hints/advice on how to use fireplaces safely and efficiently.
