Very well. Fred was very professional and did a great job. He also offered a ton of advice BEFORE he got the job to clean the Chimney. After he finished the job, Fred called to give me some other tips on Chimney maintenance. If you are looking for someone that you can trust and does thorough work then this is the company you should go with. We will use Colonial to maintain our chimney going forward.

Left a message on voicemail, and my call was returned the next day. Owner/operator Fred Heinrich asked a few questions, gave me an estimate which was agreeable, and scheduling was easy. He arrived on time, was friendly and professional, answered questions, worked efficiently, and was finished in about an hour. I've had past experience with cleaners with special deals who then proceeded to try to do extra and quot;necessaryand quot; work to increase their fees. Fred suggested a cap on the chimney to keep out animals and left the number of an installer since he does not do that. A nice touch was a scented candle left in the fireplace and a follow-up postcard.

Extremely punctual, courteous..job very well done

Fred (owner) was very professional, polite and punctual. He was very friendly and did not give me the impression that he was looking to nickel and dime me. He took about 1 hour to perform a chimney sweep and spent another 15 minutes of his own time showing me how to properly use my fireplace. He gave me tips on preventing things like back drafts, protecting the fireplace, and how often to clean it. I thought he was just a good, honest, blue collar guy who took pride in his work. I also noticed that he did his job with a smile, and was polite and professional. I think that goes a long way. I would absolutely refer Fred to anyone looking for a similar service.

We recently moved in to our first house with a pre-fab wood burning fireplace. I want to have it fully cleaned and inspected before first time use. Fred Heinrich, from Colonial Chimney came to our place. He is a very friendly and knowledgeable gentleman. Although I had prepared and layed out some canvas drop cloths around our fireplace, Fred did lay down extra to keep our place clean. I didn't see a speck of soot anywhere after he was done with the cleaning. He spent a long time explaining everything about the fireplace too me, care and instructions for use. He also went over all the wood burning products to use, and gave me some information about how to care for firewood and prevent any house fires. It was a very pleasant experience, and I feel confident now in operating our first fireplace. I eventually want to replace my wood burning for a gas fireplace, and Fred will be the first person I will call.

Fred is a class act. This is the second time I use his services. First time I had him out a couple of years ago he thoroughly inspected and cleaned my fireplace and took his time to explain in detail how to operate it. This was important because I had never operated one before. This time he came back and inspected and cleaned the fireplace. Fred is a keeper and will continue to use him and recommend his services to others.

Outstanding. Fred showed up on time with all of his equipment and efficiently cleaned the chimney in about 50 minutes. After the cleaning, he answered all of my questions about the proper usage of my fireplace as well provided a contact for firewood. My wife appreciated the little candle he left behind for us. Everything wonderful written here about Fred is 100% accurate. I am so very pleased. He arrived on time, was impeccably neat/clean, a pleasure to speak with, and will bring him back each year without question or hesitation. Even the gentlman he recommended for wood delivery was great.

Fred came to my in-laws house to clean the chimney. It had been 7-10 years since their chimney was cleaned and it was done by a friend who cleaned it from outside and from top down. Fred explained how cleaning from the inside does a better job in the lower flue area. He had a large vacuum to suck out all the dust. He put down dropclothes in front on the fireplace as well as him wearing a mask and gloves. He had all kinds of brushes and extenders to get all the way up to the top of the chimney. At the end he explained about the best store bought logs to use and recommended when to have it cleaned again based on their usage. He also suggested having a cap on top to keep the animals out and that it looked like the top will need some work in the spring. Fred gave recommendations for that work. Fred was quite personable, very friendly and answered all our concerns.

Overall, the services provided by Fred were excellent. Fred is pleasant and personable.

I was originally interested in the chimney repair. But Fred was very honest and upfront, informed me that it is not his speciality. He even recommended me a few people who does repair the chimney. Later on, we both realized that my house is a bit too far away from Bergen county. But throughout the entire conversation, Fred is very patient and professional. He even answered my a few questions regarding how to clean the fire place brick facade. I am very impressed and satisfied.
