Description of Work: They moved all of our furniture and a lot of boxes that we packed. They had to disassemble and reassemble some large and heavy units, and maneuver it around some pretty tight corners in the new house. They were very attentive to all my questions. Everything arrived without any damage at all. They had also moved my son and daughter-in-law and also her sister, within the last 18 months and all three moves went very well.

I wouldn't use Prudential Van Lines again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. Their customer service is lacking. I've never, ever, ever, been spoken to so harshly for calling to check the status of things that are rightfully mine. I may have called three times in a five day period, but each call was no more than 3 minutes, and were in response to not having a received a status update call from Prudential. Nonetheless, customer calls are a part of any business, and it's completely inappropriate and unjustifiable to be disrepectful to people who are the livelihood of your business. I know there are other affordable moving companies out there...use them. (I'd also be cautious of glowing reports of their service found on this website. I think they have are writing some of their own positive reviews)
Description of Work: I used Prudential Van Lines to ship my household goods from Brooklyn (NYC) to Atlanta (GA). Prior to pick up date I informed the carrier that I needed weight receipts of the moving truck before and after my things are loaded to be reimbursed by my job. I was told this would not be a problem. On the day of my scheduled pick up, the movers arrived nearly an hour after the time I was given of 11-2pm. When I called at 2pm to inquire where the movers were, the guy (Ben) at Prudential Van Lines blamed me for them being late saying it was because they had to get the truck weighed. Since this was included on my binding moving estimate, I don't know why they didn't plan appropriately to have the truck weighed and be to my place on time. They packed the truck fairly quickly; however, by the time they were done there weren't any weigh stations open in Brooklyn and I had to follow them all the way into New Jersey to find a weigh station. We got separated in traffic on the way to the weigh station and when I called Prudential for instructions, they gave me the instructions of 'right off of exit 15e'. Well, duh, that's not a real address I can put into a GPS or easily locate. I had to call back several times to get the people at Prudential to provide me with a real address. Also, when I wanted to verify that the weight station would be open and we weren't wasting a trip to NJ, I was told 'it's open late'. I inquired for a real time of how late they would be open, and I got nothing but attitude from Prudential and they had to call me back to see how long it would be open. I put down a furniture delivery date of 10/10/10. Two days before this, I called to see if I would actually get my things that day or later. I was told the company wouldn't be loading the moving truck until 10/11/10 and that I would get a call the night of 10/11/10 to let me know if I was getting my things on Tuesday or Wednesday. I didn't get a call from them on 10/11/10, so I called them and was cut off in mid sentence and rudely told that I wasn't listening when they spoke to me before and that the van was still being loaded and I would get my things 10/13/10 or 10/14/10 but that I would get a call on 10/12/10 letting me know. Lo and behold, I didn't get a call on 10/12/10, so I called them and the guy on the phone yelled at me for calling so much. He was extremely rude and repeatedly cut me off when trying to speak. The movers showed up to my apartment complex at 8:30pm on 10/14/10 with a truck that was too big to fit into the complex. The 53' foot trailer would have fit, but they had an older model cab that added another 12' to the truck. They simply said there wasn't anything they could do about it and they had another delivery in Florida the next day and told me I would just have to wait until 10/17/10 to get my stuff on their way back up the east coast. I was speechless and extremely disappointed, but at that point my things were essentially being held host

The pickup crew in New Jersey was OK. They took longer to deliver than we were told. The delivery crew was a nightmare; 1) the driver had a hard time handling the truck and was running over curbs, 2) while doing their job, they were pumping us for a tip when finished, 3) two pieces of furniture were greatly damaged and they denied having anything to do with it, 4) they looked for every opportunity to add other charges to the bill. The bill was about 40% higher than expected. They did knock off some of the excess charges. I would not recommend them for taking out my garbage much less move my furniture.
Description of Work: They moved us from New Jersey to Georgia. Services included disassembling some furniture, padding furniture, loading furniture and boxes on truck, transferring goods to 18 wheeler, transporting goods to Georgia, unloading, un-padding furniture, and reassembling some furniture.

Received a demeaning email to confirm appt. Had to wait 3 weeks for appt. Salesman had no materials and could not estimate cost. Have the feeling he reps for a lot of companies--nice guy--didn't instill confidence.

These guys did a quality job. They were careful and responsible. They did a really great job packing and almost nothing was damaged. They reassembled and setup all the furniture well and were very friendly and helpful. I would have given them an "A" rating if they hadn't gone so far over their original estimate (they were off by 20%). Overall, a quality moving company, and would recommend them, as long as you understand the estimate is not binding and expect to pay more.

The move went extremely well. I was very happy with the pricing, punctuality, and professionalism of these movers. They showed up on time and ready to go, and did not stop working until the job was all done. Prudential accepts credit cards (MC and Visa with a 3% surcharge), and only requests payment upon delivery. They also accept personal or bank checks. Their foreman always kept me informed on what was being done. The day I moved it was raining, and all of my belongings stayed dry. There was a tiny nick to my bed frame, which I wasn't thrilled about, but nothing that cannot be fixed with a little glue. I did pay a little more than the original quote, but was acceptable, as I had some large furniture that did not fit through my narrow hallway easily. Considering they had to pick up stuff from 2 locations, what we paid was very reasonable. Overall they did a fabulous job. I would use this company again, and recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Prudential picked up my boxes and furniture from my 2nd floor apartment, then went to my friends 2nd floor apartment to get his belongings, and then moved everything to our new place.

I contacted Prudential Movers after reviewing there reports on Angie's List. I purchased a home and needed movers to pack and transport my belongings to the new address. Upon contacting the company I spoke with Peter who was extremely responsive and helpful. Peter also followed up on the second day which was a factor in my decision to use the company. Peter also honored the coupon on Angie's List and provided me with packing boxes. I went to Prudential the day before the move and met with Peter to receive the boxes and confirmed the move date and time. On the morning of the move, a mover (Oscar) from Prudential arrived at the scheduled time, completed an assessment of the belongings that were to be moved and reviewed the contract with me. I was informed that due to the great amount of belongings that would need to be moved ( three bedroom apartment) the estimate that I had previously received would be exceeded. I informed Oscar that this would not be a problem. Oscar informed me that the move start time had begun and he would be right back with the movers to begin packing the belongings. Oscar returned after approximately one half hour with three other men and started to move my belongings that I had already packed. I was originally taken a back at how some of the belongings were packed as they packed liquids with dry goods while in the kitchen and had to be re-directed that these items should be packed seperately to avoid damage and spillage. The men continued to pack the belongings through the morning. In the early afternoon, I left my mother ( an 80 year old woman) at the residence and came to my new address to prepare for the delivery of the movers. Once gone I received a call from my Mother informing me that one of the workers had gotten nasty with her when she asked where one of her items were as it had money in it. Now not feeling comfortable with the idea of my mother being alone in the apartment with the movers after this incident. One of my friends returned to my old residence to pick my mother up and bring her to the new residence, leaving the movers alone in my old apartment. It should be noted that as of this point, I have not found my Mother's missing item. However, I have not yet completly unpacked. The movers arrived at my new address approximately 12 hours after they started the job. Oscar went over the charges of the move with me and was paid for the move so that the movers could begin to unload the truck. It should be noted that I was quoted a price of approximately $1,600.00 for supplies and the movers fee, but actually paid $2,967.00 plus a $50.00 deposit when I booked the company for the move. During the unloading of the truck I stood in the door of my home to direct the movers as to where the items would be placed. While unloading the truck one of the movers dropped my freezer causing severe damage. I am currently awaiting contact from the moving company's insurance provider so that a claim can be filed. The movers also removed the basement door so that they could move in my washer. When they replaced the door it was not replaced correctly as I cannot currently completely close the door to my basement. In the list of supplies that the company provides there is a charge for television boxes which is $20.00 and a charge of $9.00 for large boxes. As I began unpacking on 2/26/2010 I observed that although I had been charged for a television box, my television was actually in a large box. It should be noted that I had 4 televisions and none had been placed in a television box , but instead in large boxes and wardrobe boxes, despite the charge for them. Also my television's remote was not in the box with my television, when I returned to my previous address I found the remote control for my television on the floor along with the stand for my daughter's Wii gaming system. There were also other items in my apartment that should have been packed left behind, ie my daughter's keyboard, my mother's dishes, clothing and shoes. As a result of the mover's negligence in packing all of my belongings as directed I had to now go to a local retailer purchase boxes and complete the move myself. I also had a portable air conditioner moved, I have not located the attachment for the window as of yet, while the other pieces to the unit were attached with tape. In my old apartment I also discovered one of my daughter's school shoes in a box ( I am assuming the other shoe is in one of the packed boxes). However, if they had packed the shoe box with both shoes that I had placed in the shoe box, my daughter would not have to currently wear sneakers to school on a daily basis. There was also the discovery during my unpacking that items were just thrown in boxes haphazardly as oppose to them being packed according to the room they were in. I also feel like the topper to all of this for me was when I returned to my old residence to clean out the apartment, I found boxes of used moving supplies left by the mover's which I had to dispose of in addition to cleaning out the apartment. On a final note, while in the kitchen of my old residence I found an empty box for a 6 pack of Corona beer, which neither myself, mother or daughter consume. This aggitated me even further as I felt that if the movers were not drinking on the job, maybe all of my belongings would have been appropriately packed, maybe my freeze would not have been dropped, and maybe I would not have had incurred the hourly charges that I received as they could have completed the job sooner.

My furniture and household goods remained in a N.J.storage area for about six weeks until I settled in Missouri. The storage fee was very reasonable. No complaints on this. Where the company fell short was in their responsiveness to my request for delivery. I contacted the company on or about December 18th to schedule a delivery date. I spoke with Peter, who quickly handed me off to a coworker, possibly a dispatcher. This person was rude and arrogant. He snapped "When do you want the delivery, tomorrow, the next day?" I could accept delivery whenever that was. I wanted to be sure I was on-site for the delivery and not travelling. His response, " I'll call ya." After waiting several days, I contacted Prudential again and spoke to the same person. He reminded me that I called before and would be contacted 24 hours before delivery. He hung up. No estimated date given. Message received--don't call again! He callled me late in the afternoon of January 6th, the furniture was on the truck and would arrive the next afternoon. I told him there was a snow storm expected and it was -10 degrees. The driveway was shoveled and kept clean for the delivery. That evening the driver notified me of a delay in travel due to the storm. I should expect him early morning. At 11:45, the mover arrived on foot and told me he could not make delivery because the large van would not make it over the narrow snow-covered street. He left to discuss other options with the driver. Approximately 2 1/2 hours later he returned to borrow a shovel to clear the street. The semi-trailer pulled up at 15:00, the driver and assistant worked until 21:00 in temperatures reaching 10 to 20 below zero. They placed furniture and boxes in designated rooms and worked very hard under adverse conditions. They did not reinstall the TV (not part of their contract with Prudential). (It should be noted that there were other people's furniture on the truck as well as mine. That furniture was scheduled for delivery after mine). I really feel bad submitting a negative report because there were several positives. Prudential was my mover of choice. I read Angie's glowing reviews and did get three estimates. One company came on site and grossly underestimated the contents and the other was giving me a good rate because I was a nice lady. Peter at Prudential was very good in explaining the process, how to cut costs, and what to expect on moving day. On moving day, my expectations were met and exceeded. Due to Prudential's representative's lack of consideration and uncooperative attitude, I was essentially unable to make holiday plans for fear I might be out of town whenever Prudential's call came. Given the attitude I encountered, I chose not to report the following: There was some damage to an antique table and the refrigerator water line was frozen. The water filter had to be replaced also. Some items did not make it here. The moving process can be stressful. If each player did their part, it would be a more positive life event. I sincerely hope Prudential dispatchers/schedulers see this review as an opportunity to be a little more sensitive when playing their part in the process.
Description of Work: The mover's dispatcher (Peter) was helpful in the prep stage and the movers were top notch. The team of four arrived on time (08:00) and worked through the entire day loading the truck, prepping furniture, and boxing the remaining items. Much of the house content and part of the garage items were boxed or packed prior to moving day but still, there was a lot of work to be done. Cudos to the team. They were professional, courteous and did a great job. Through no fault of the company, the cost was considerably more than projected because I underestimated the square footage. The company's estimate was based on my input.

After calling for a quote, I completed an inventory of items to be moved. I highly recommend that you do this in order to give them a more accurate idea of what the job involves. They were able to adjust my quote accordingly. They called to confirm the day before the move and showed up on schedule the following morning. These guys work very hard and move fast so be ready when they arrive. Given the amount of boxes and furniture that I have, the entire process was very quick due to their efficiency.

They moved most of my belongings and some furniture. They were very efficient. Their salesperson explained to me about their fees and it was pretty much close to what he said. They were on time and were careful with my belongings. They wrapped up everything and everything was fine. So, I thought that they were good. The price that they charged was average and wasn't very low or wasn't were high too. I would recommend them to others and I would use their services in the future as well.

They sales guys were okay but the scheduling was a decent process. The amount came out a little higher than the quote but we expected that. The movers were pretty rude and they were actually pretty menacing and we were not too comfortable with them. I spoke to the dispatcher and the sales person about them and told them I would be writing this up. The mover demanded a tip before he brought the stuff in and he basically wagged his finger in my wife's face. The crew chief was absolutely horrible but the other two guys were polite and professional. If they sent a different crew chief, I would use them again.

The guys appeared a bit late, but were very professional, helpful, diligent. The "minimum price" was way too low, but I didn't put much trust in it anyway; overall price was reasonable. They wrapped and carried everything as was instructed. There was one scratch on a table, but the rest arrived in a good condition. Overall, I would work with them again.

The company was very diligent about scheduling and following up with me. The day they were supposed to come, they called and said they couldn't due to an issue with the previous job. They were very apologetic and came the next day (Sunday) first thing in the morning exactly on time. I appreciated that they called and let us know as soon as they knew they were backed up at the previous job instead of waiting until the promised delivery window had expired just to say that they couldn't come.

They arrived at my apartment on time. Our quote had included 3 movers and they all showed up. When they arrived 2 of the guys started wrapping the furniture while the 3 guy gave me the contract to sign and initial and explained everything on the contract. Once that was done he got to work. It was amazing to see how they wrapped each piece of furniture and how fast they did it. We also had another stop to a storage unit. Once we got to our new house they unloaded the truck and asking where we wanted each item. A couple of times we changed our minds after they placed the item and they would move it to the new location without a problem. Once they were done unloading the truck they finished putting our furniture together. A final check of the truck was done to make sure nothing was left behind and they left for they day.
Description of Work: Due to their rating and quote we chose to use Prudential Van Lines. They were punctual and although we had to pay a little more than what we were quoted it was justified and they did an impeccable job. We had been advised upfront what charges can be added. We just had to pay for a couple extra hours but it was our fault for adding extra items to the move that needed to be wrapped that I had not been quoted for. I have moved a lot through the years and the service they preformed beat any other company I have ever used. They securely wrapped all of our furniture in padding before loading it onto the truck. They were professional, careful and very quick.
