Most of the work done was associated with gas supply line tasks where safe and effective work practices are critical for reliable long-term service. Tindall and Ranson people are top-notch in this field. You can get cheaper plumbing work than this firm, but you may not be as comfortable with the safety and family security of the lower cost outcome.
Description of Work: Review for 3 jobs over several months, concluding at date indicated: Install new water heater; hook-up gas to new cook top; inspect clear, and adjust drain-line from new kitchen sink installation - all services associated with a kitchen remodel or routine maintenance. Service people doing the work are excellent. They know their craft; they are courteous, on-time, and keep work site clean during and after the work. The office staff are helpful and effective, but usually not knowledgeable enough to determine the scope of the requested work without a call-back consultation. Estimators will try to steer you to the most expensive solution, so be aware there may be less costly effective repairs or installations available to you.

We had Tindall & Ranson replace some of the original plumbing in our newly purchased 52-year-old home. These guys were fanastic! They arrived within the expected time frame, and were extremely professional, did a great job on replacing the pipes, wore booties to protect our carpeting, and cleaned up like pros - you'd never know they were ever in the house! And they followed up to make sure everything was working to our satisfaction. I don't understand some of these complaints about their prices. You get what you pay for. And we got superb service, knowledgeable technicians, and great customer service - worth every penny we paid. What's with the complaining about their service-call fee? I don't think you can get any professional to come to your home for free. These people writing complaints about the service-call fee would never think of performing their jobs for no pay; why should Tindall & Ranson, or ANY service company, work for free? And it's not like it comes as a surprise. When I called to request an appointment, they were very up-front about what the fee was to come to our home. We've already contracted them to install a new air conditioner at our vacation home, and would definitely use them again, as well as recommend them to anyone who wants a job done right.
Description of Work: Installed a complete washer outlet and gas dryer supply line.

I thought their estimate was far too high. I was not happy with the whole estimate; the way the guy came around, and the way was so robust off-hand about what they were about to do. Well, it was fine. Then, I got someone else who said he can do it; they charge me a third of what Tindal & Ranson were going to charge, and he was a licensed plumber.

We got an air conditioner from Tindall & Ranson in the distant past, but an estimate recently. They told me that my air conditioner was old and that my air conditioner was out and not cooling. The guy said that because my air conditioner was old it was unlikely that just putting freon in it was going to do any good and that I really should replace the air conditioner and while I'm at it since my furnace was old I would be getting much better efficiency if I replaced them both at the same time and he happened to have a special deal. I called somebody else and they came out and put freon in it and the whole thing cost a couple of hundred dollars, the service call and all, and it's been working fine ever since. I just felt like I was being pressured to unnecessarily replace my air conditioner and furnace and I have since heard similar stories about Tindall & Ranson. They were just trying to do what they do which is sell systems. They were just trying to pump up their business and weren't doing anything immoral or illegal. It was up to me to be a little more astute. They came right out and I'll never use them again.

I had misunderstanding about the materials they were going to use, but couple of phone call later. They finished the job in couple of hours, clean after themselves. Other than confusion at the beginning and some sloppiness about paper work, they did the job well.

The house was 60 years old and most of the pipes were underneath the house. They said they would drop the pipes through the walls without ripping out the floor. These guys said they would be able to do it with absolute minimal touching of the wall. I thought it was amazing but they did it. They did it for the least amount of anybody I talked to. I had gotten it quoted for $26000. When he quoted his price he apologized for the price. He said that he knew I was probably blown away by that price but he said that he had to tell me that it was an expensive job. Then I told him that he had no idea how cheap he was. He did a great job. I have to say that the pipe has been in for ten months and it is working fine. He was very creative. I would definitely recommend him and I would definitely would want to use him again, but I don’t know if he would want to deal with me because I was huffy and puffy at the end, but not because he did a bad job. I thought one little pipe to go another way. He said that they had to do it that way because it was on the other end. What he said made sense but I couldn’t back down from my complaint.

We had a leak in the base of the garage wall, behind cinderblock. The garage wall abuts the laundry room which contains the water meter, the entrance pipe and the outgoing pipes. Bill Chamberlin looked behind the appliances for evidence of water--found none and said we would have to wait until it got worse in order to deal with it. He charged us over $120 for the visit which lasted less then 30 minutes. The handyman for our complex came--listened to the water pipes in the laundry room, cut out a peice of the sheetrock in the garage room and found the source of the leak which, unfortunately was some where behind the cinderblock. The diagnosis took 15 minutes. We called Chamberlin who came back and looked in the garage. I told him that I thought we should receive "some sort of a credit" if he did the job. He said he would "think it over" but he never got back to us.He was unprofessional and a total rip off. I would recommend against using him. P.S.Thomas Capman of Anytime Plumbing in Jamesburg NJ came and an excellent job-- the subject another report.

The first plumber sent looked under my sink, gave an exasperated sigh and told me why this was not going to be a simple job. He told me that the baskets/drains that came with the sink were too big and I'd have to buy new baskets/drains from him to avoid having the pipes in the wall lowered. I went along with this because he was the "expert" at a cost of $70. This employee also had ME carry the dismantled pipes to the bathroom to empty the water into the toilet. The next day, I contacted the owner of the company and told him that I was dissatisfied and didn't see what the big problem was with getting the job done with my original baskets/drains (which were more attractive and trapped food better -- which is important because we have a septic tank). He came out that day to assess the situation. He told me that he would contact me with a new date when someone else would come out to fix it the way I wanted. After two days with no call, I followed up and an appointment time was set. A different employee/plumber came (with a bucket of his own to the dump water himself!) and did the job the way I wanted in less time than the original employee. This second plumber was wonderful, acted as if the job was no big deal at all. I am very happy with the work he did. I was given back my original check and presented with a new bill minus the cost of the parts I had purchased (and no additional labor charge). In the end, I found the second plumber and Mr. Chamberlin to be professional. The first employee, not so much.

When you call Chamberlin Plumbing you actually get to talk to a person on the phone and they know where the plumbers are. One time when my pipes burst, he came over on a Sunday. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We added a bathroom and renovated the kitchen in our 4000 square foot home. He did the plumbing work for the bathroom and the kitchen. He also moved the laundry room to a different location. He closed off the old laundry room plumbing and made new plumbing for the relocated laundry room.
