Ben, Gene and the crew of Mario Grano and Sons are a well oiled machine! They started the work when they said they would and were done in seven days leaving us extremely happy. There were a lot of variables with our job and neighbor. They took all of that into consideration. We love our new extended driveway and front curb. I will definitely recommend them and absolutely use them, again.

Just as good and easy as the last time! This was our second time using Mario Grano & Sons and as I said in our previous job with them, we would not trust any other contracting company. This time we worked with Ben Grano for the initial review of the project and set up a time in the spring to have the work done. As a testament to how well Ben and Gene's crew are treated, we were very happy to see the same exact faces from our last big project 5 years ago. The job took a total of 7 days and as is their usual, they worked hard, efficiently and left the job site impeccable at the end of every day. Thanks Ben, Gene, Kathy, Mike and the entire crew!

We have an older brick house (built in approximately 1921), and the brick steps leading up the the front door were crumbling and had been encased in cement and patched up time and time again. I knew it was time to replace the steps but was very worried about getting a good match for the bricks so that the front steps would look like they truly belonged to the house. I first spoke with Ben Grano for an estimate to replace our front steps on April of 2015, and we signed a contract for $11,550 for the front steps and sidewalk in early May. On the negative side, Ben first visit was in the evening and he arrived much later than expected. Also their price was higher than some of the other estimates. But I was impressed with his thorough explanation of what they would do (and why) and I liked his overall design. And I especially appreciated how much assistance I got from Ben in choosing bricks that would really look good with our house. We also spoke about the landing by the front door at that time. Ben noted that it was sagging a bit towards the middle and sounded hollow when we tapped on it and cautioned me that he felt that it would be important from a safety standpoint to open it up and look at it, but that it could end up being fairly pricey. Other contractors had said the same thing (and we are used to the fact that many projects come with surprises with our old house) so it was clear that we were simply going to have to open it up and be ready to deal with whatever we found. Ben's initially told me they would aim to start in July, but that it could end up being later than that. I had noted from other reviews that they can take much longer than promised to get started, so I went into the project knowing that the start date would likely be later. (We weren't in any particular rush, and I am willing to wait if it gets the results I want.) In the end they began work in early September. Once the work began, things went smoothly. They were prompt, and the workers were there every day that the weather was reasonable. The big uncertainty was the landing by the front door, and that did indeed turn out to be complicated. The space below the landing was hollow all the way to the depth of the basement, in a separate chamber that we never knew existed. We discussed various options for rebuilding the landing, and in the end they sealed the space and built a support using cinder blocks for the landing before pouring cement for the landing. This added $3800 to the price, but we like knowing that the front landing will be safe for anyone who own our house in the future. The results are beautiful, and although the process required some patience, we were happy with the choices we made.

Things went very well. They did very professional quality work and are easy to work with. They worked straight through from the beginning of the project without any interruptions. I would definitely recommend them for quality work.

Ben and Gene including their entire crew was extremely knowledgeable and professional. All work was done cleanly and precise. They took the time to explain the work being done so you as the homeowner is aware as well as know how to maintain them going forward. When the job was finished, they cleaned up the work site and took the time to review the finished product with you so it's up to your satisfaction. They're open to questions and gave recommendations for future improvements. Won't hesitate to recommend them to others if you want something done right the first time.

I've done many reviews over the years but this one is the hardest. How do you sum up in a few paragraphs the positive impact made by Ben, Gene, Kathy and the entire staff of Mario Grano and Sons? They are honest, hardworking, respectful and full of integrity. My husband and I trust them completely. They listen to the consumer's needs and wants. My husband and I expressed the desire to use American made products and they found them for us. During the initial visit you will be educated on what they do and how they do it. Being a layperson where masonry is concerned, I couldn't understand the scope of their expertise until my work began. As my husband and I watched them perform their various assigned jobs, it made us smile: haven't seen people we could confidently trust since the '60's! (When the first generation started this business.) It amazed us to see how each person performed his job with such a sense of pride and clarity. An extremely dependable, happy and well trained staff; they arrived on time, left on time and cleaned up every day before they left. If there was a rain delay for any given day, Kathy was kind enough to call first thing in the morning to advise us. We had a custom design in mind and they had the vision to understand it and execute it perfectly. They excel in custom work and also give invaluable advice for those that need help in designing their dream. Their love for what they do shines through in each action they take. These men are perfectionists! My husband and I hold a deep respect for each person in this company. Choose Mario Grano and Sons for your next job; it will not only be money well spent, you will be trusting your dream to the experts and the nicest people you've ever met!

rxtremely satisfied with their work. When we met with Ben he explained everything in detail. Very professional, they cleaned up the job site at the end of every day. The crew was very courteous and willing to answer any questions I had. We had new landing and front steps done as well as the sidewalk to the driveway and around the house to the back. They also were able to correct a problem I had with the foundation on my garage. We have received many compliments on the steps they replaced. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

The initial consultation was great Ben really gave great design suggestions and was willing to try free form shapes that helped customize our home. From the time they began work they were prompt and there always were multiple people working to have the job completed in a timely manner. They accommodated us and made sure our family wasn't inconvenienced during construction as we have young kids and needed to get in and out without impeding on the construction progress. We got 2 other quotes however Ben really knew what he was talking about and it showed in how it all came together with he and his crew. To some it all up outstanding!!!

After super storm Sandy my basement was in pretty bad condition. I never had any masonry work done in my house, but I knew my daughter had, so I called her to see if she liked the contractor she used in the past. I've never heard her speak so enthusiastically about any contractor as she did about Mario Grano & Sons, so I knew I had to at least call for an estimate. Ben Grano came to my house for the estimate. He asked what the issues I were I was having in my basement and then went and inspected it for himself. Ben gave me tons of information about what it was that was happening down there (water, mold, cracking, etc.,) and how to remedy it. He and his crew came in and attacked the problems like pros. From start to finish I was thrilled. Everyone was so nice... they knew that having a devastating situation going on in your home isnt pleasant, and were so understanding. All my questions were answered and all my fears were calmed. I felt completely comfortable with Ben and all the men working with him. I was confident it would all be great when it was done, and it was. I'll tell anyone who asks me that I'll only ever use Mario Grano & Sons for work needed at my home.

As I have done in the past, I called the experts, Mario Grano & Sons, when I needed work done at my house. My old back yard steps were a mess and needed replacing. Ben came out to give me an estimate and, as usual, explained everything in detail, answered my every question, gave me design ideas, and showed me samples of brick to choose from. As before, I felt completely comfortable with every decision I made because I knew no matter what design I chose or brick color I went with, the work would be perfect. The men who work for Mario Grano & Sons have always been kind, considerate, and appropriate when working at my house. They are neat and efficient too?cleaning up as they go along, and never leaving a mess behind them when they leave. I couldn?t be happier with my choice of contractors. I HIGHLY recommend them? they are THE BEST.

A few years ago I had Mario Grano & Sons lower a large portion of my basement floor and install a french drain. There was a small section of the basement I just didn't feel had to be done...I never went back there anyway and, at the time, didn't really care if it was lowered or had a french drain in that area. When discussing it, Ben advised that it would be better to do all at once, but I was reluctant. Well, I should have listened! That small area became an annoyance to me, and I realized I wanted it lowered and waterproofed after all. At least I knew who to call...Mario Grano & Sons! Ben came to my house, explained the process again, and gave me an estimate. As always, the work was done beautifully, neatly, efficiently, and within the time frame he said, right from day one. While I wish I had just done all the work the first time, I couldn't have asked for a better job done by a better crew. I have been so happy with all of the work Mario Grano & Sons has done for me that I have recommended them to my entire family, who now also only use them exclusively. Only the best!

The Grano and Sons team did a fantastic job on our front steps. They did a complete redo of the steps from top to bottom and below and the walk way. they came an d gave us a quote did the job when they said they would and its perfect. I would not use anyone else for any future mason work I need done. they were professional and pleasant to work with. look them up on facebook and you will see samples of there work including our steps. Everyone from the first phone call was courteous and professional. Project was started on Friday and finished on Tuesday. The work was professional, the quality of work was excellent, the workers showed up each day on time and cleaned up after. Ben and Gene Grano are really a pleasure to work with, were able to complete the whole project including landscaping, they even did more than proposed when asked. I would highly recommend them.

I have used Ben and Gene in the past and have always been pleased with their work, thoroughness and professionalism. We had mold around the bottom of the walls all around our unfinished basement. We also had quite a few horizontal and vertical cracks in the block that was a concern. Both Ben and Gene performed a complete inspection and made recommendations which all made sense before the work started. Nothing was done without my consent and approval. After the work started, we agreed to put support cinder block columns along front and back walls to support and help prevent further breakdown of the block. We also had them put in support footings in 3 of the 4 corners. As usual, the men who work for them are polite, courteous and clean. Every night while the job was being done, it was not a problem to go down in the basement and see the progress without walking through a mess. They also made sure all the "little stuff" was done before the job was complete (i.e. pinning up wiring, seeding, cleaning, etc.). I stayed in constant contact a week+ before the job and just about every day during the work (2+ weeks). Every question and concern was addressed quickly and to my satisfaction. Although the total cost was a bit higher than I thought coming into the job, I have complete confidence that I will not have any water problems in my basement ever again. I would highly recommend Mario Grano & Sons.

the staff was very polite and hard working. everyone made sure the project was done to specifications and was very accomodating to revisions that we requested during the project. the work was done during a cold and icy period in december but was done to specifications and completed on time. the old patio was made with bricks from the sayre and fisher brick company and the sayreville museum wanted some of the bricks when the historical society came to select some bricks we discovered that almost all of the bricks were of historical value. ben pallotted and wrapped 7 pallots of bricks and delivered them to the sayreville museum free of charge. the workers kept the work site neat and clean. any time i called with a question my call was returned within 15 minutes. my family friends and neighbors are impressed with the quality of work and design of the patio.
