 + -1 moreI called DAS this morning (Thursday) to schedule a repair appointment for my dryer. We set one up for tomorrow (Friday). In the meantime, I spoke to my daughter in law and found that she might need me on Friday to babysit my granddaughter. I called DAS back, thinking I would move the repair date to Monday, but he said he could come out this afternoon, which he did, and he fixed the blown fuse in the dryer and has it working fine. The cost was $85 but he honored the coupon for first time customers that I found on the Angie's list website. Will definitely call again if we need repairs and will recommend him to friends.
Description of Work: The gentleman from DAS diagnosed and fixed a blown fuse in my clothes dryer, which was not heating up.

 + 0 moreHe is the best. Even before he comes, you can tell him on the phone what the problem is and he will basically diagnose this on the phone. He will have the part when he comes and he fixes it. I recommended him to my daughter who was having trouble with her refrigerator. And, I also recommended him to my brother. He bills right on the spot and it is always at a good price.
Description of Work: D.A.S. Appliance Service fixes small and large appliances. He fixed my stove. For his last visit, I had a clog in my water heater and it was leaking all into the garage and he came and found the problem.

Description of Work: Our dryer was blowing cold air and we were having issues with our washing machine (front loader - water level). After examining the dryer, It turned out that a fuse needed to be replaced. Sam inspected the washer as well as the hoses. Turns out our problem is pretty typical of front loaders. This washer will be my last front loader.

 + -1 moreDue to Hurricane Sandy, a voltage surge rendered our Kenmore Refridgerator cooling system inoperable. After an unsatisfactory encounter with the manufacturer's service center, we switched to D.A.S. Applicance Service (found on Angie's list). The owner/technician promptly arrive and replaced two parts. The total service call took 15 minutes. I paid a service charge of $45+"technical" service time $15 + $5 for a part and tax of $4.55. I was satisfied and have had no other issues since.

 + -1 moreWould have appreciated a friendly and educated advice from Sam to go ahead & buy a new refrigerator rather than spend money on an old one.
Description of Work: Sam came twice - the first time he came(end of August) he seemed to fix the refrigerator (which was leaking water on to the floor), cleaned up the back of the fridge etc. The fridge seemed to work but we realized later, the water was still leaking onto the floor. We wondered if it was time for a new fridge -consulted our son and decided to call D A S once more. He came & fixed it again - seemed to work until Sandy Hit. Until then all was fine . 3 days later when all the lights went out, we put all the refrigertor food in ice boxes/freezer boxes and left home to stay with our son in upstate NY . Upon our return , called Sam one more time (since the fridge stopped working), left a message with his wife or relative - he never called back. A polite reply would have been sufficient, under the circumstances. We never heard from him again! We invested in a new refrigerator now and are happy with our decision. ps we forgot to use his coupon - being his first time customer; he could have reminded us(as a goodwill gesture) but he did not.

 + -1 moreEverything about the service was excellent. Arranging service was easily accomplished with one phone call, the repairman arrived at the time agreed to, and the repair was accomplished quickly.
Description of Work: Our clothes dryer was not working. Repairman quickly found that a fuse in the dryer had burned out due to the presence of several metal paper clips. A new fuse was installed.

Description of Work: My oven igniter stopped working. I ordered the part and when I recieved it I looked on Angie's list and found Sam. He came the next morning and switched out the part for me. He was here for maybe 20-25 minutes. His price was very reasonable and less than the other 3 repairmen I called. Very happy with the service!

Upon contacting another person from Westfield through AngiesList who told us we should just call GE and they will fix it (thanks!) , I got in touch with Sam.  + -1 moreMy washing machine suddenly stopped spinning in the middle of the cycle. Looked up for repairmen at Angie's list & found D.A.S Appliance Service. They have very good rating, so gave them a call. Got the appointment & am very happy with the work performed & at a reasonable price. All services should be this way.
Description of Work: Washing machine did not spin. Sam diagnosed it to be a faulty lid switch. He also noticed some noise coming from the gearbox & that it is fine for now but wasn't worth fixing. I also had him look at a flush problem in one of the toilets & it was fixed. I also asked for advice on other repairs & he was very helpful.

Repairman looked at them both--told me that the dishwasher wasn't worth fixing and then repaired the refrigerator to my satisfaction.I bought a new dishwasher and didn't spend money on a useless repair--I was impressed with his honesty. He quoted a price to fix the refrigerator and repaired it for that exact price--great job!

 + -1 moreThankfully Sam and Vickie Quackenbush were able to order the part needed promptly for our dishwasher. It was installed right before Christmas! All steps taken were done professionally. I can't thank them enough for having this done so quickly. It would have been a real drag to be ball and chained to kitchen sink at Christmas with a big crowd over to celebrate the holidays.

Description of Work: Dryer did not heat, but went round. To replace dryer, as everybody suggested, would have cost over $500 and a lot of trouble. DAS phone contact and repairman were pleasant, capable and efficient. The repair was the replacemt of a fuse. I also asked for advice about other repairs and he was helpful. D.A.S Appliance caught my eye because of the high rating and positive feedback received. I called on a Thursday and scheduled a Saturday appointment for 12 noon. I appreciated not needing to take a day off from work to have the washer repaired. Sam Q. was right on time for a Saturday appointment. He diagnosed the problem quickly (required a new lid switch), quoted me a reasonable price and finished the repair in under an hour. I did two loads of laundry that afternoon! Sam gladly accepted the $10 off coupon as a first time Angie's List client. I will definitely call D.A.S Appliance Service again if needed. Thank you!

Description of Work: My central humidifier broke. I reviewed the ratings and companies on Angie's List and called DAS. Within one and a half hours of my call, Sam came. He is a wonderful man...kind, professional, fair, and very knowledgable. He answered all of my questions and corrected the problem with the heating system. His fee for his amazing service was very reasonable, something I am so grateful for. I wish all of the contractors out there worked like he does. I used to worry about my heating system and who I would call when it needs to be replaced or repaired. Now, my mind is at ease. I will not hesitate for a second to call him again for future needs. I am not one to write reviews, but I just had to take the time to write about him. He gets an A for sure!

 + -1 moreGreat. I looked on Angie's List yesterday to find a repair person. Called him because of the positive reports from others. Scheduled something for today. He came when promised. Fixed everything within 10 minutes. Whole thing couldn't have been easier.
Description of Work: My two year old dishwasher wasn't cleaning dishes well so I knew something was wrong. Sam came in and within a few minutes took out some of the components, showed me that when I cleaned the filter that I didn't put things back correctly, showed me how to do it, and fixed it. He also reattached one of the arms that had fallen off this morning.

Description of Work: He came when expected and checked on the washing machine. He was honest and told me that it probably wasn't worth fixing because it needed a transmission. He also checked the dishwasher while he was there. It needs a new gasket. He is ordering one.

 + -1 moreI noticed there was some water dripping around my furnace when the a/c was running and the problem got worse over a couple of days. Called Sam @ D.A.S and he was able to stop by within a couple of hrs (and he was right on time too). Turns out that I needed to have a clog/blockage cleared in the furnace unit's drainage pipe which thankfully was a quick fix. Sam was very professional and a pleasure to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate to call him for future work.

 + -1 moreThe price was great. I had a different company come to my house last year for another A/C unit and their price was 3x the price I paid DAS to perform a similar service. I will used DAS in the future and will certainly recommend DAS to my neighbors and friends if they need service. Very professional, responsive, and courteous.
Description of Work: My main level A/C unit was running continuously but was not cooling the 1st floor. Contact DAS based on the previous reviews. My experience was very positive. Sent email at night to DAS and received a reply 5:30 am the next morning. DAS contacted me at 9:00am and said they could stop by in the afternoon. Sam called at 11:00 and said he was on his way. Once Sam arrived, he checked out the A/C unit and determined it need additional Freon. Once the Freon was added, the 1st floor started getting cooler.

D.A.S. Appliance Service offers the following services: We repair and service most major appliances such as central air and individual air conditioning units, furnaces, garbage disposal units, cook tops, range hoods, washers, dryers & dishwashers. In most instances, we offer same day service with special consideration given to emergency situations. We believe our fees to be fair and pride ourselves in going above and beyond in any given situation. We are closed on Sundays but will consider an emergency call for a service charge of $90.00 plus tax.
In most instantances, our services are flexible but depend on reasonable requests. It is to be noted that WE DO NOT SERVICE MICROWAVE OVENS, oil burners nor high end appliances, such as Electrolux, etc. WE CAN NO LONGER INSTALL A.C. UNITS OR FURNACES. We are closed on Sundays but will consider a true EMERGENCY call for an additional service charge plus tax. PLEASE NOTE: We reserve the right to refuse service where parking and/or accessing a premises becomes a challenge.
