D.A.S. Appliance Service

Steve was professional and arrived right on time. He came and saw I had an older washing machine. He was not pushy to charge me a lot of money to fix an old machine and made repairs for a minimal amount. I felt comfortable with him and trusted his knowledge. I had procrastinated to call someone, feeling it was going to cost a lot to fix my washer. I wish I would have called him sooner! I would definitely call him again in the future.

My experiences with them were all good. I will certainly use them again if I have any problems with my appliances. They were very punctual and I would say they went out of their way because they had to get a part that they did not have with them. They had to go get it and then they came right back and solved the problem.

Our older refrigerator was icing up in the freezer section. At one point it stopped working, and we just defrosted it. The fridge kicked back in. After a few re-enactments of this scenario, we called DAS. They replaced some parts and they were everything we wanted and more. Definitely felt it was a reasonable, honest experience. We highly recommend this company.

Washer had the issue on starting, just there is a in-let switch shut off that we don't know about. he made it on.

The phone was answered on my first call to D.A.S. (very unusual these days). I explained the problem with my oven to Sam - oven electric was working, but the gas wasn't coming on to actually heat up the oven. He took my info and asked if the following day would be good for me, which is wasn't, but then arranged to come the day after that. He called when he was on his way and actually was able to come earlier than stated, which was great - freed up the whole day. He was very nice and polite, worked cleanly and was able to diagnose the problem with my oven (broken electric igniter) and replace it within about an hour. He had the part in his truck so it was able to be done right away, and he made sure everything was working properly before he left. I would definitely use Sam at D.A.S. again and would recommend him to others.

It took 4 tries to fix the problem - the dishwasher stopped draining. First visit, he did not have part and I had to pay for that service call. This was in addition to actual service that was done the next day. After replacing the pump, the dishwasher still had the problem. He came two days later after contacting Kitchen Aid and fixed the problem. The problem appeared again after 1-2 weeks. He fixed it on the fourth attempt. It has been working for last 2.5 months. He was always prompt and courteous. My reasons to not use him again: 1. It took too many tries to fix what should have been a simple problem, 2.He charged me separately for the first visit when he did not have the part and did not give me credit of this charge for the work done the next day.

Another vendor wanted $600 to replace parts that didnt need replacing. DAS came in, diagnosed the problem, didn't try to sell me anything I didnt need, fixed it. Simple and easy.

After 2 calls to each of the 2 numbers provided I finally got a call back- not on the number I provided in my messages but on my office line. Made appointment for 2 PM. Had to leave my NYC job at 12:20 to catch a train to be there on time to meet Sam. At 2:45 I called. He said he was still in East Brunswick and that he can't tell how long any job will take- okay, how about a courtesy call then? An hour later Sam called and said he was lost and asked did I give him the correct address? (My town is 2 square miles large). I live on First St. Not exactly rocket science here.... One block from Second St, etc. and I also gave him the nearest cross street as well. 30 MINUTES later, he calls again, still cannot find me. I told him he was a block away which he then said that he was already in my parking lot but left because I didn't mention I lived in a condo (in my directions I told him my unit # & street address). At this point I said that I left work hours early because he set the appointment for 2PM and now it's 2 hours after that- Sam told me "I can already tell that you are going to be a problem- find somebody else" and hung up on me. I was very lucky to then get in touch with Jon at Reliance Appliance- another Angie's List top rated company in Matawan who actually deserves the high accolades and ratings- unlike D.A.S. Appliance.

The job went very well. Fair price and was worth the cost. I made several attempts to fix the dryer to no avail. I would recommend them highly!

He examined my refrigerator and saw that it had a leak. I will use his services again.

I called the company early Friday morning and left a message. (Note it was the day after the 4th of July holiday). My call was returned within 20 minutes and I was given an appointment for that day. That made me very happy. Even better was that it was an actual appointment and not some 4 to 8 hour window of time. The technician even called 20 minutes before arriving. He was pleasant to deal with, properly diagnosed the problem, luckily had the part with him, and fixed it right the first time. I feel the price was fair for a new circuit board and labor. This is a small company, which is exactly who I wanted to deal with. Honest, fair, and reliable. I would not hesitate to use again.

It turned out we needed the system cleaned and we also needed freon. Sam took care of the AC and not it runs better than ever.

I have used their service earlier too but had not written a review earlier. However, when I experienced their service the second time and found them professional, courteous and reasonable on pricing, I think they deserved a review, and hence this. I called their company on July 9th. A lady picked up the phone. I got a call soon after from Sam who wanted to understand the problem and also discuss when he could come. I requested him to come at a particular time and he readily agreed. The whole thing went very well.

Sam came (quickly, the same day within 2 hours of calling) and checked my new refrigerator for why it was forming ice in the freezer and not cooling properly. Told me it was a freon problem (maybe leaking and dangerous) and that I should have it replaced rather than try to fix it. Kudos to honesty and professionalism. I recommend him and the company.

Charged me only for a service charge. Did not try to con me into anything else. I would definitely use them again.

When I originally called I was told by the friendly receptionist that someone would get back to me "today" with a date and time. By 7pm I assumed that committment wasn't going to be met, however when I checked my voicemail the following morning, I most certainly had a message. "Today" did not mean office hours. I'm quite certain the poor woman was calling from her home while trying to deal with her own life, but her committment to return the call was met. (I was very impressed) An appointment was scheduled for 10am on Thursday and at 9:40am I received a call that they were on their way. Arrival time - 10:01. (Again, I was impressed) Determined the cause of my dryer not working well being an excessive amount of dust and lint, not in the rear vent as everyone would have suspected, but at the base of the dryer. He offered to quote me a price to vacuum out all of the nooks and crannies that were filled with dust and lint and causing the problem. I declined and did the vacuuming myself. He also fixed the issue with my washer that was likely caused when I moved in that all 4 shocks to the drum were disconnected. The entire visit took less than an hour, both machines are working like new and it cost me under $75. Will definitely recommend and/or use again.

Last weekend our Carrier Central air conditioner stopped cooling. Originally I called the company that installed the unit 6 years ago (Stanco Climate Control in Manalapan NJ). He came out and after a 10 minute inspection told us that we had a leak and that he needed to add 11 pounds of Puron coolant. His rate for this was $60 per pound. When you add the $80 service charge and sales tax it was going to cost us $792. I paid him the $80 service charge and told him I needed to get additional quotes. I called up DAS Appliance Service and the owner Sam came out within an hour of my call. He diagnosed the problem and added 5 pounds of Puron refrigerant at a cost of $25 per pound. My total cost with DAS was $181. That is less than one quarter of what Stanco quoted me. He was professional, honest and courteous. Needless to say I highly recommend DAS Appliance Services and advise others to stay clear of Stanco Climate Control, unless you like getting ripped off.

They answered my call about a malfunctioning GE Profile refrigerator late on Thursday and arrived promptly on Friday late morning as promised. Replaced necessary parts and it is now working fine.

He was great and did a good job. Reasonable prices and prompt service, very friendly and knowledgeable. I would give he all A's and I would use him again in the future.

Sam, who owns D.A.S. , arrived when he said he would. He was able to pinpoint the problem and told us what it was and what it would cost. He didn't have the part on the truck and called his business to see if one was in stock. It was and he went to pick it up. He returned in about a half an hour; installed a new element; completely deiced the coils and cleaned up every drop of water that was produced in this process. We saw the reviews on Angie's list for D.A.S. We are very happy that we selected Sam's business and recommend him highly. It is encouraging to know that there are people who do quality work at a very reasonable price. Thanks again to Angie's List.

Did a very thorough assessment of the fridge. As it turned out, we needed a new one so no repairs were done and we were charged a very reasonable price for the visit. I felt DAS was extremely honest, fair, and helpful.

The worker found the problem and clearly explained it. He fixed it and it's been working fine since.

My clothes dryer was making a very loud noise which was unbearable. I called and was surprised that on the very same day he came and I was informed what it would cost to replace the part. The needed part was ordered and put in the next day. Can't beat having someone who owns their own small business giving their customers the service they deserve. I was very impressed to say the least.

Sam was punctual, polite and professional and above all honest. The bearing is going bad, and he advised me for the amount it would cost to have the part shipped to him it doesn't really make sense to fix it. He explained to me that I don't have to replace the unit today, it will just keep getting louder until either the part or the entire washer is replaced. The amount paid was just for the service call and diagnosis, just as the website said, and I felt it was well spent for the time he took to take the machine apart and verify what he already suspected.

The contractor wanted $155 for the repair and only accepted cash or check in person. The charge was high and this payment method was not a viable option for me. In 2013, with the myriad options available for methods of payment, this payment policy is a representation of an amateur business practice. I pay someone else to do the job right and for the convenience. I also don't care to work with amateurs. I decided not to do business with "D.A.S" and have no regrets. I do not recommend working with them.
