Could not believe the Positive ratings given by other users !! Must be related to this guy SAM !!
Description of Work: Called for the Refrigerator services seeing positive review here. Guy called SAM, comes in and says relay needs to be changed charges 50 dollars and leaves and says when he had the part will come to fix in 2 days. 3-4 days past. Gets a call that finding part is difficult and was inquiring if the compressor was changed on this refrigerator !! I was wondering how can one find the Appliance history without a S/N of the Unit - as he had only my Model Number !! Ask me to fax with Serial number and Told this guy that part is available all over place online for my model number. Gets a call after another 4-5 days that now I had the part. Fix an appoinment to come any time during following day. Gets a call later.. cannot come today because my truck problem. Fix an appoinment for 1 days afterwards after 5 pm.. No shows after that.. left 4-5 messages. 4-5 days pass by again and just back and forth trying to fix appoinment and excuses after excuses.. just p***** me off.. Was told to go get it fixed with someone else. Realises this guys just stole my 50 dollars !!!!! Customers beware of this company. Still if you want his service make sure he is within 5 miles of this guy as I believe my house might be 10-15 miles and he will not be intersted in servicing other areas. My refrigerator is still broken and am looking for another contractor/company again. Will have to spend more from my pocket.Let him part with my 50 dollars and enjoy !! BEWARE BEWARE everyone I laughed at Company's response below - "someone who will find fault with the service they receive" and thought what a joke !! 1. No service was performed to completion 2. Took 50 dollars for no Work Customers judge for yourself and decide.. I can simply saw BEWARE and be CAUTIOUS of this company

Response from D.A.S. Appliance Service
After reading this review of our company's service, we would like to respond as follows: As is the case with all services, there will be the inevitable unreasonable customer, someone who will find fault with the service they receive regardless of who offers it. Thankfully, the majority of our customers are reasonable people, and their reviews of our company (and Sam) speak for themselves. Can the majority be wrong? We will continue to provide the best service possible.

The A/C was not running very cold. I called DAS and they came on time and were very professional, they did not try to sell me anything I didn't need. They fixed the leak and added coolant. The price was great, and the A/C worked great when they were done.

So professional and courteous. He picked up phone at 8am and said he wd come at 2pm. He called me at 1:30 to let me know he was on his way and he came at 2pm. He explained the problem and spoke about cost upfront. Worked quickly. I brought up the $10 Angie coupon and he applied it happily. I hit the jackpot with this hire and will refer him to others.
Description of Work: Top Load washing machine went kaputz mid cycle. Tub was full of water and clothes and just wdn't spin or drain. We ended up bagging the wet clothers to the bathtub and rinsing and wringing them before putting in dryer. Sam explained that it was a snapped wire and also a weakened part. He suggested that we not cram the washer with wet beach towels when i asked how we cd get as much future mileage from the washer. Within an hr, Sam had it working once again,

I can see why D.A.S. has so many A ratings! Within 2 hours of calling them, they scheduled an appointment for later in the day, were at the house promptly, diagnosed the problem with our dryer as a (fairly common, according to them) broken belt, and replaced the belt, fixing the dryer. It was a very quick transaction, and Sam was very nice. My 2-year old son pretended to be Sam for the remainder of the day -- thanks for a job well done!

He showed up on time, both the times. The guy was professional and friendly. We will use him again in the future if we need to.
Description of Work: We’ve used D.A.S. Appliance Service only once for large appliance repair. We had a problem with our refrigerator, and it turned out to be the fan in the freezer that sends cold air up into the refrigerator. The fan had died and so he fixed that. He came out twice; once to analyze the problem and then came back later with the part and put it in.

I contacted D.A.S. Appliance Repair on Friday. Because of the Memorial Day weekend, Sam said he would come on the following Tuesday in the morning. He called before he came, and arrived punctually. Sam set about methodically to diagnose the problem. I had told him of the power outage. He removed the bottom panel to check if the appliance was receiving power. He found a damaged wire nut that he replaced. He then unscrewed the control panel and looked for a fuse. He wondered if the system had no fuse, but located the not-so-apparent placement of the in-line fuse, and was able to snap the fuse assembly out. The fuse had blown. Fortunately, he had a replacement assembly on his truck. He replaced the fuse assembly, though not the harness, which, as I found out later, was highly recommended. He hooked up the control panel wires to the fuse assembly. After reinstalling the control panel, and screwing in the bottom panel, he started the dishwasher. It worked fine. He said the problem might have been caused by a power surge after the outage. He conjectured that the overheated and somewhat blackened wire nut could have blown the fuse as well. From start to finish, Sam was friendly, thorough, confident about his diagnosis, and totally professional. He was also fair. When I told him I had a $10 Angie's List coupon, he happily subtracted $10 from his bill. I would contact him again, without hesitation, for any future appliance service I required.
Description of Work: Last week our Kenmore Elite dishwasher stopped working suddenly after a major power outage in the area. The control panel on the appliance had been replaced with a new one just five months ago. Sam analyzed the problem and found that a burned out thermal fuse was the culprit.

Sam ( the provider from D.A.S.) , found that the back panel had become detached from the back of the freezer and the water that was suppose to go into the ice maker was flowing into the refrigerator. He cleaned up all the ice that had accumulated under the panel; reattached the panel so the water would flow through the tube into the ice maker. He advised and showed me exactly what the problem was and how he fixed it. It took him about one hour to correct the problem and clean up.
Description of Work: Repaired a Kenmore Elite refrigerator; the ice maker was leaking and the water was standing the in refrigerator. I ice maker was turned off; however, the water continued to flow and leak into the refrigerator.

Had an awful noise during the spin cycle of my front loader washing machine. I had called another repair person and after 2 visits, the noise was still there. Not trusting of the original repair person, Through Angie's List, I read that D.A.S. Appliance Service looked like a reputable business. I was not disappointed. I called on 2/13/2012 (late afternoon around 3:00pm) because my water wouldn't stop running in the washer. I talked to Sam (owner) he said he could get out tomorrow morning. The next day he arrived on time after calling to confirm that he was on his way. Within a half an hour all was diagnosed, parts had to be ordered. Sam followed up with the price of the parts, I okayed it, parts were then ordered. Had to wait a week, Sam called that parts have arrived, then we made another appointment. Again he called to say he was on his way and he arrived at the designated time. Repairs were made, noise is gone, another happy customer. I think I have found my large appliance repairman for any future repairs.

Our washing machine was making a screaching noise during the spin cycle. I called DAS Appliance based on the good reviews listed and scheduled an appointment with Sam. I called on Monday and scheduled an appointment for Wednesday morning as this was convenient for me. Sam is professional, courteous, honest and prompt. When Sam checked our washer, it didn't make any noise. He did check all the parts that could cause this noise and all looked good. Sam explained that sometimes water gets under the basin and can cause this noise during the spin cycle. As this happened on Monday, Sam said the water probably dried up and the issue resolved itself. We knew in advance that a service call would cost $45.00, and it was well worth it. We will definitely call DAS Appliance in the future should the need arise.
Description of Work: Washing machine and parts were inspected. No repair was necessary.

Sam called me back promptly after my initial call to him. He was able to come early afternoon the next day. He diagnosed the problem quickly, and since he did not have the part I needed to repair my refrigerator he tried another solution in the hope of saving me some money and getting the fridge back up and running for my family. Unfortunately, it didn't work, so he ordered the part and came back the next day...even though he had just dropped his sister off at the hospital and was going back after he did my repair. It took him less than a half hour, and I haven't had a problem since. The price was as he indicated in his estimate, and it was a smooth transaction from start to finish. I would highly recommend DAS and would gladly call again.

Very disappointed. If a service states they service a particular county, they should commit to servicing the entire county.
Description of Work: Called for repair based upon reviews on Angie's list. I had two appliances that required servicing so it could have been a worthwhie service call. We live about 30-40 mins from their location; within one of the counties they list as those they service. They were pleasant and responded promptly by phone, but refused to come to our house for the repair. In good conscience, I cannot recommend someone who refuses to work in the areas they specify are within their service area.

Unfortunately, the only option we are given by Angie's List is an entire county and not only specified areas. Traveling long distances is not cost effective and in order to be able to offer our reasonable service fees, we must stay within a certain range of travel. Angie's List should provide the ability to choose specific areas for service which it does not.

I am very pleased with D.A.S. and happy to know someone who can actually repair appliances on the first visit. I will definitely use them again and will recommend them to my friends and family.
Description of Work: The oven on my 5 year old Maytag gas range was not working. I called Maytag and they referred me to their vendor where I couldn't get an appointment for two weeks. I checked out the vendor online and saw numerous complaints regarding pricing, knowledge and professionalism to name a few. I checked Angie's List and saw D.A.S. and the great reviews they received. I called and Sam knew from my description exactly what the problem was and ordered the appropriate part. He said it wasn't in stock and would take three days. A few days later he called and set up an appointment to do the install. He replaced the ignitor which required him having to disconnect the stove since it was on the back of the stove. After he did the install he made sure everything was working.

After an initial prompt and friendly visit, things went very slowly. Sam was not good about answering my calls. Most of all, though, I think the problem was just that he doesn't know much about subzero appliances. Among other things, he could not identify the piece he needed and failed to notice that the refrigerator had a much bigger problem--a failing compressor--so it was not just the broken hinge that was a problem. I ended up calling a company that specializes in high-end appliances and the repairman fixed the hinge and the compressor in a single visit. Sam was really nice, and I might recommend him to someone with normal appliances (like the ones I had until I bought this house). I just would not recommend him for Subzero.
Description of Work: Sam came to look at a broken hinge on my Subzero refrigerator. He came quickly after my initial call, but then had problems figuring out what part he needed. He came back with a schematic to figure out, and then sort of disappeared.

I signed up for Angie's List just so I could find a repair person to come and fix my refrigerator. I randomly picked this service because they offered a coupon and I figured that was as good of a reason as any to pick them. I called at 8 AM in the morning and was surprised that someone answered. I was nearly floored when they said someone would be out to assess the situation that day. The repairs were going to be costly, that much I knew, so I wasn't surprised at the estimate. We had arranged for them to return on Friday of the same and fix the freezer/fridge after obtaining the necessary parts. I was given a window for service with a promise that they would call with more specific details. I hadn't heard from them by Thursday night around 8 PM just asking that they let me know if they could pin the time down for the service on Friday. I was hoping they would call back the next morning and I was pleasantly surprised that I received a call not even 30 mins later confirming the time of the appointment. I don't know what more you can ask for from a service. Prompt response, friendly service people and reasonable pricing. I would recommend if you don't have one of those PSEG worry-free contracts to give this service a call.
Description of Work: Replaced a broken ice maker and freezer board to get my fridge back up and working again.
