called Chapelwood to fix a leak in my roof due to some damage from the storms. They came out to give me an esitmate in a couple of days even though they were very busy. Matt the owner came out gave me a quote and kept in touch throughout the process. I was very pleased with the communication. The price was fair for the work performed. The workers were very professional and did a great job. They kept me informed of the work they were doing and they even fixed a few things not discovered until the roof was exposed(extra charge but fair).

I had called Matt to view a problem I have been having with a leak in my roof for almost a year. I had a handyman do some repairs at least four times and the problem kept returning in the driving rain. Matt retuned my call promptly and arrived on time. He examined the problem, which he said was minor - so minor that he did not charge me. I will not know if what he did has solved the problem until there is another storm, but I am very impressed with the fact that he could have charged something for doing a repair, albeit very minor.. He was very pleasant and I certainly will consider calling him for any future needs. Well, we have had two driving rainstorms since Matt's repair and there have been no leaks! I am very happy and again highly recommend Chapelwood!!

Project deferred

I purchased a condominium which required a total renovation. I had 5 different closets with the old floor to ceiling bifold doors on them that I wanted replaced. I wanted the openings reframed and regular doors put in their place. I also need kitchen cabinets hung, a wall removed to create a passthrough from the kitchen and some sheetrock/spackling. I contacted 11 different contractors for an estimate including a few from Angies List. I chose Chapelwood Craftsmen for several different reasons. I called Matt and he made an appointment to come out for an estimate immediately. He arrived on time, discussed with me what I was looking for, took measurements, made suggestions and said he would email me the estimate. The estimate arrived and I thought it was a very fair price. I contracted with him for the job. I was on a tight schedule, with only 3 weeks to complete the entire renovation. Matt started work right away, even rearranging his schedule to accomodate me. After the renovation got underway, I changed my mind about several aspects of the job while work was progressing and Matt was able to accomodate my requests with no problem at all. There were many quirks with the structure and once Matt got started it was apparent that things had to be done differently or not at all. Matt had the solution to whatever popped up and things ran smoothly the entire project. The building only allows contractors to start working at 9 am and they must be out of the building by 5pm with no exceptions which limits the amount of work one can accomplish in a day. I also must tell you that Matt is approximately 75 miles from me and he traveled back and forth each day. Matt treated my family and I respectfully, he did a stellar job on my unit and was clean and neat throughout. The job came out just as I pictured I wanted it in my mind. Matt listened to what I wanted and made it come to life before my eyes. I am a realtor and I would not hesitate to recommend him to family, freinds or clients. You will not be sorry you hired Chapelwood.

Matt initially quoted me $235 to only install a new roof vent for our second floor clothes dryer. Very fair price. He arrived at 7:00 AM promptly, assessed the job quickly and got straight to work. While installing the roof vent he found issues with the roofing nails. The condensate that was forming due to faulty installation of the original vent was rusting the roofing nails. He replaced these. He also sealed all of the exposed roofing nails on the ridge vents. Finally, he installed a secondary lint filter box in the attic that I had planned to install myself at a later date. He only charged an additional $10 over his quoted price for all of his extra time and effort. He easily could have finished the job he was contracted to do and left much earlier with the $235 that he quoted me, and I would have been none the wiser that there were additional problems on the roof. He also took time to explain what he was doing as he worked. Punctual. Fair priced. Honest. Knowledgeable. Clean. Performs additional work at little to no extra cost. I can't ask for more than that. I'd definitely contract Matt again.

Came in on time, on budget, and the cabinet doors he put on look great. Matt is responsive and easy to work with. I'd recommend him enthusiastically.

We had a serious roof leak, which affected our upstairs bedroom and storage area, resulting in a rotten roof rafter, beams, floor joists, drywall, subflooring, and moldings. Matt submitted a detailed proposal and work specs. He has a very professional manner, is pleasant and easy to deal with. He completed the work in one day (8 A.M. to 8P.M.), and cleaned up the work area when he was done. He worked with his brother -- both were prompt and courteous. We were pleased with the quality of his work.

Matt returned my email right away. We arranged for a time to look at the job and he was there on time. The work was EXCELLENT! After he gave us the estimate, I called and added "a few items" that I wanted him to do in addition. I did not ask him for a price for this additional work, but when he told me how much (after the work had been completed) I was very pleased with it. He cleaned up the every day before he left. He and his crew were very professional.

This is the second time I hired Matt for a project. Our porch roof had been leaking for a long time. Matt estimated that I would need to replace the roofing and replace approx 3 sheets of plywood. Actually, he had to replace 5 sheets of plywood along with several roof rafters. He had warned me that if additional work was needed, the price would have to increase. Matt showed up on time, completed the job within a day and cleaned up the area so neatly that I couldn't even tell that he had been there. The ending price was only a couple of dollars more for the additional material. Matt and his crew were very professional.

Everything went according to plan and timetable. Matt is very thorough, takes pride in his work and is an honest and caring contractor. I have subsequently used his services for carpentry, chimney repair, basement window replacement and with his brother, drainage excavation. All jobs have been completed timely and exactly to the quality expectations I had envisioned. I will continue to use his services without reservation.
