Contractor willingly made a trip to Home Depot for necessary supplies for door repair. Tile replacement was a disaster, not because of Chaplewood, but because of the way that the previous owner installed the tiles. As a result, we ran out of replacement tiles and had to make due with a close match. Chaplewood did the best anyone could do wi the situation. The men were very patient in dealing with the mess. The attic stairs are a great improvement over the previous set... Much sturdier and easier to raise and lower.

Came out and provided me with an estimate for my shed. The estimate was for $1975.00. That seemed a little high. I called another company from Angies list and he quoted me the same materials GAF shingles for $1250.00.

Overall experience was very positive. Keith was very professional - provided me with a reasonable estimate, went out to purchased shingles specific to my roof and completed the job the same day. I am very happy with the overall service.

Roofer arrived as scheduled and repaired leaking roof area. A storm followed and the roof continued to leak. The roofer responded and put up a temporary tarp during the storm. The final repair was done promptly and there have been no problems since the repair.

It went great. 1st David Emiliani, explained how our insurance company should pay for the roof. Then he wrote the quote and explained everything too us. then he had the team here on time and the entire roof was done from start to finish after we left for work and before we go home. Finally, he helped us work with our insurance company to get the whole roof paid for after the Hurricane Sandy (Insurance company only wanted to repair the roof, then only to replace 1/2 of the roof and wanted us to put tar on the other half. (note not a flat roof). Because of their efforts, we have a better roof than before the hurricane and it was all most all paid for by the insurance.

They were very nice and very professional. They returned my calls and gave me an estimate but they were very expensive. I found someone locally that was able to do the job at a 1/3 of the cost. They wanted to rip out the concrete structure and start from scratch. I was able to find a mason that just repaired work, they tried to convince me that I needed to do a bigger job and that repair wouldn’t work.

Overall everything went well and was done in a professional manner. The first days work took less time than expected while the second days work took more time than expected. Overall the work was completed in the time expected.

I purchased 2 Angie's List Deals for a total of 2 general contractors for a full 8 hours. Matt, the owner was extremely helpful throughout the process, recommending suppliers for the lumber and discussing the work before arriving. The lattice work ended up being more complex than expected and the 8 hours wasn't quite enough to finish the work. Matt stayed past the 8 hours to finish up as much as possible and left the rest in a presentable state and in a way that we could finish ourselves. He even took a look at a possible leak and possible foundation problem while he was here. The work on the deck is beautiful and looks like high quality custom work. Matt was knowledgable, courteous, helpful, and went out of his way to work around areas in the deck that were not built in the best way. We are extremely happy with the work and would definitely hire him again.

I bought an Angie's List Big Deal coupon for 6 hours (2 workers) for general contracting work. I am in the process of re-modeling my basement and needed help with finishing the walls and doors. Matt, the owner, was very professional in contacting me right after I bought the coupon and working with me to schedule a date (and then reschedule, due to Hurricane Sandy). He called me the day before our arranged date to confirm our appointment, and he also offered to pick up any materials I might need for the project. This cut into my contracting hours, but was a great help for the sheetrock and door, which would have never fit in my vehicle. The two men who worked at my house, Ted and Rob, were both very pleasant and helpful. They made good suggestions and asked appropriate questions. They completed everything that was on my priority list in the time frame I purchased. When they were finished, they cleaned up where they had worked and helped me store the excess materials left over from the work. While I won't comment on price since I used a Big Deal coupon, the professionalism and quality of Chaplewood Construction would make me recommend them for other work

I purchased 2 Big Deal Packages that included 2 general contractors for 4 hours each which meant that I had them each for an 8 hour day. Matt was great at working with me on the scheduling. I wasn't ready to have the work performed when I made the purchase, but when I was, he was very accommodating. The guys were scheduled to be at my home at 7:30am. They were prompt and began working. They had to remove the remaining edges of my plaster ceiling that had been damage from a plumbing leak and replace it with a drywall ceiling. They worked well together. When the remaining ceiling work only called for one of them, the other began installing my chair rail and crown moulding in another room. What a difference the mouldings made in the look of the room and I have to say, after not having a ceiling in my kitchen area for 4 months, it is great to look up and not see pipes. I would highly recommend this company. Everyone was polite and conscientious and they did great job.

I was thrilled with the job they did. They were very professional - they were a little late because of traffic but called to let me know they were on they way. They did a thoroughly professional job and were wonderful to work with. They even apologized for not being able to do more, which was really nice. I thought what they did was perfect and told them. I was so happy to finally have that particular hallway painted. I definitely plan on using them again and would highly recommend them to any and everybody.

As in the past, Matt Miglin (principal) was timely, accurate and performed in an excellent fashion.

I called Matt to fix a troubling intermittent leak in my porch ceiling. He examined my roof and surrounding areas in detail and said he saw nothing that obviously was the cause of the leak, but he had some suspicions. He patched and filled various holes, checked caulking and flashing, re-sealing anything that looked suspicious. He also pointed out a low spot in the roof, which wasn't the problem but could become a problem if we got a very heavy snow. After several repairs, Matt said we just had to wait and see if he had found the issue. Several days later we got another heavy rain and the ceiling leaked again. I called Matt, and he got right back to me with another date to come by that week. The second time we pulled off one of the sheets of plywood on the ceiling to trace where the water was coming in. That's when he discovered the broken roof brace, which was the cause of the low spot. Matt went back up on the roof and looked further up the roof above. He found flashing around the chimney that looked solid, but turned out to be a little loose. He also pulled the gutter guards off my gutters and discovered birds' nests in the downspout, effectively blocking it, allowing water to overflow behind the gutter and down the exterior sheathing (under the siding). He examined the downspout on the far end of the gutter, found it blocked as well. He cleaned the gutters on both ends. And while he was at it he repaired the broken roof brace, which corrected the low spot. It's rained very hard several times since and not a drop of water. Matt did a few things that set him apart: He explained what he was doing, and had done, all along Because I wanted to be involved, he made sure I was involved in his decision-making and trouble-shooting process. He treated me with respect and patience, listened to my input, and discussed his thought process. Most contractors can't be bothered to do that. He used wood I had available in the house rather than taking the time to go to the store to buy new, saving time and money. Two other roofing companies just told me to replace the roof at a cost of approx. $2000. Matt said "nonsense. This roof has a good 8 - 10 years left. It should be fixable for a lot less." And it was. He also cleaned up thoroughly after he was done, was neat and careful not to trash the plywood he pulled off the ceiling, and just generally worked in a very professional and workmanlike manner. I will definitely be using Chapelwood for other projects, the first of which will be done in the next few months.

Matt arrived right on time. His assistant came a couple hours later. He was very professional and knowledgeable. Also, he knew his limits so he did not get into anything beyond his expertise which I liked. Matt has had a lot of experience so he was able to solve all the projects I threw at him during the day. We ran out of time but Matt was able to bring everything to the point where I could complete it on my own. Overall, the perfect resource for a homeowner like me who is learning the ropes. He is very busy but squeezed me in his schedule. He will be my general contractor/handyman source in the future for projects like finishing my basement and building a man cave in the back of my home.

They honored when they said they would come out and give a quote. Their lead time to give a quote was three weeks; that was too long for me. Their price was way out of line; it was 30% higher than everyone else. We weren’t home when they came out so the punctuality isn’t relevant. We wouldn't use them in the future; they're too expensive.

This is an updated review after having spoken with Matt from Chapelwood construction. My wife and I called Chapelwood for an estimate to repair a leaking roof after reading many positive reviews from other customers. The leak on the roof near our chimney caused water damage, including mold in our bathroom, so we had already removed the sheetrock on the ceiling and on a section of wall under where the water came in. Having it open this way, we could see the roof sheathing was rotten under the shingles, and needed replacement. When Matt came to estimate the job, he looked at roof from outside, but did not look at it from underneath (which required just pulling back a sheet of plastic and some insulation batting). Based on the outside inspection, he determined that the job would consist of patching three or four areas on the outside that, viewed only from the outside, appear to be the source of water entry. We ultimately went with another contractor, who performed the complete repair that was needed. My wife and I were puzzled as to why Matt wouldn't look at the roof from underneath, but I learned from subsequent conversation with him that there was a misunderstanding about the nature of work we wanted done. Somehow, Matt had the impression it was a quick temporary patch job that could be done from outside, while we wanted a deliberate and permanent repair. Another part of the estimate was to install a bathroom fan vent, which Matt suggested be run about twenty feet to the front wall of the house. However, a quick look at the inside (again pulling back the plastic and insulation) would have shown that a shorter six-foot run could be made to a back wall, which makes sense to me as a mechanical engineer. Again, there seems to have been poor communication as Matt later explained that he had a rationale for the longer run. Matt notes in his response that he spoke with my wife and I was not present. That's absolutely true, because it was such a hurried visit. He gave just 15 minutes notice before arrival and didn't stay long enough for me to drive the 12 miles to get there before he left. Had he stayed three minutes longer, we would have talked. For me as a potential customer, it all boils down to the contractor in this instance being in too much of a hurry. While I've subsequently spoken with Matt and appreciate his willingness to discuss the encounter, I can't honestly say I'm satisfied. I have no reason to doubt that Chapelwood does quality work as suggested by other reviewers. Unfortunately our experience with the estimate was not that positive and we chose another contractor who appears to have done a great job.

They did good work and it only took a day to complete. The owner came out to perform the work and they were able to find a good match for the siding to replace. He was prompt and came out when he said he would.

Overall, would I recommend Chapelwood? Absolutely!!! Very professional, honest and knowledgeable. It was a refreshing pleasure doing business with him. I was happy to pay him and happier that I found him. Looking for a great contractor, call Chapelwood. A+++

This was my first experience with a major remodel, and it went very well. Matt and his crew were all wonderful and very patient. They were professional throughout the entire process and everything was cleaned up very well at the end of each day. He took the time to listen to me and explain anything I had a question on. Any issues that did arise, I was immediately notified and we worked together to decide the best way to go about things. With Matt's help I was able to design my entire kitchen myself and he made it work. There were several areas in my design that had to be customized on site and Matt did an amazing job. He and his crew were very meticulous and took the time and extra steps needed to do things right the first time. I stayed in my home during the whole remodel with my 3 children, dog, and three cats! They all did a great job accommodating my schedule and organized the projects so they were least disruptive. Matt, John, Ted, Mike and the others were all very friendly and easy to talk to. No one pressured me at anytime, nor was their any of the complaining, anger and cursing that accompanies some contractors on the job. I really can't think of much that I would have done differently since they tried to make everything as painless as possible. I did get about 4 estimates, and they were not the cheapest quote but I was impressed with their estimate and how comfortable I was talking with Matt when we first met. His proposal was not a quick one page thing that some gave me. It was very clearly written out and specific. There was even consumer rights on it saying what measures I could take if I had an issue with their work or company. Basically I would absolutely recommend them and planning on using them for my next project. They were all great to work with.

I don't know the total because the guy hasn't come back to me with the final price. We started off with different assumption and the assumptions changed as we moved along. That's why the list was more than the one thing that we actually started with. Their work was good. I don't know about the quality of the work because I haven't been able to look at what they did. They were great.

Matt Miglin and his coworkers at Chapelwood Craftsmen are second to none. This is my first experience in using Angie's List and I could not be more pleased. I contacted Matt and he responded the same day. Shortly thereafter he came to my home for an inspection of the work I wanted done on my 70 year old home. The original slate roof was leaking and many of the slates had cracked. I was prepared to possibly be told I needed a new roof; however, not only did Matt not want to replace the slate roof, he shared my love for the beauty of a slate roof and the character it adds to an older home. He spent a good deal of time walking all around the roof to determine how best to make the repairs. I also wanted all new insulation in my attic and an attic fan installed for proper ventilation. They did a fantastic job in just a few short days. Matt is one of the nicest and most pleasant people I have ever met. His workmanship equals his personal attention to detail. He will be doing a complete renovation of my kitchen in the Spring and I literally cannot wait. Following that, I have a list of other repairs to my home and I will have no one but him do the work. If you are in need of any kind of repair or want an addition to your home, this is the Company to call.
