Installers, Slawek, Tomek, arrived on time and were very courteous and professional. They formed us of what they were doing, instructed us on how to operate the windows and left our home cleaner that when they arrived. I would rate them as excellent installers.

The windows are great and the installers, Norbert and Paul, were top-notch. On the other hand, I was extremely put off by the actual process of placing the order. I did my homework before I contacted Renewal by Andersen, and I decided to use them because I had already determined that they had the best product, in spite of their much higher prices. However, when I called the company (Renewal by Andersen, Central New Jersey in Cranford, NJ) to get a price quote, I had to answer a plethora of questions, which I found tedious and irrelevant: i.e. Was this my primary residence? Was my wife going to be present for the price quote (with the implication that if she wasn't, they were not willing to come)? Then I was informed that they required 90 minutes to make their presentation! 90 minutes to measure three windows and give me a price. Ridiculous! After talking with a supervisor I managed to get an appointment without my wife (this is a second home, which I use as my office, and she has no opinion about the windows). The day of the appointment, I got a call and an apology that the salesman's car broke down so he wouldn't be showing up. ******, but stuff happens, ok I'll make a new appointment. The next day they call me to make the new appointment. Again, the interrogation, and finally" "Sorry you had to change your appointment because your wife wasn't available." I hung up. Later a manager called back and I agreed to give them one more chance. A week later the guy comes to give me a price quote and I am subjected to a long-winded sales pitch about how great the windows are. I was forced to view videos that I had already seen online, which is why I decided on this company. Total waste of time. It should have taken 10 minutes to measure the windows and give me a price! I can't stand the way this company insists on following a script without being flexible enough to deal with a-typical clients. On the other hand, the installers were absolutely great. Very professional, efficient, and personable. This is a management issue. Just thinking about the hoops I had to jump through to get 3 windows annoys me. Especially because they are so expensive. I would have preferred a lower price with less "customer service." I give them an A for the actual windows and A for the installers, but a C for the way the ordering process is designed. Let Norbert and Paul run the franchise! They are terrific.

At 8:45 AM a van with Erik Jodelka and his partner Cris arrived at our home. They introduced themselves and then started to work. They put tarps on the floors they had to walk on and covered furniture near the areas they were working. They did one window at a time and never stopped to take a break all day. Erik would constantly ask us, "if everything looked Ok" while they were working. After installing they then sealed and did the trim on the outside. No matter where they worked they cleaned up everything by hand and then even had a vacuum. My wife and I couldn't believe how different the house looked after they finished, which was 7:45PM. I call them "The 2 Polish Guys(from Poland). They were just two great guys that did great work. If I were to use the company again I would insist on them to do the work.

They charged $4000 for four windows. I didn't like the windows. The windows that Andersen put in didn't have nothing really where you could push up the windows. It was a smooth surface. You have to get on the window and push it up. There is no latches or nothing. The price was way too high. If they said they were going to be there, they were there.

The installation by Slawek and Tomas was totally professional. They treated the install as if they were doing it to their own home. The product fit perfectly. I could see the quality of the materials used in the construcition of the window. The window was ordered out of the Cranford office. I would certainly be happy to recommend Renewal by Anderson as my company of choice for replacement windows.

I am very very pleased with the windows. They are so well-made that when I shut the windows, I could hardly even hear construction work and jack-hammering that was taking place outside. The windows are very easy to open and I'm very pleased with their fit and insulation. They cost way more money than other companies, but you get what you pay for. They really did a wonderful job, and the windows of a superior quality. They followed up with us after the project to make sure the workers were great and the clean-up was done properly. They also do all of their own servicing if there are any issues.

I had high hopes for our appointment with Anderson Renewal. Although I read not-so-stellar reviews on Angie's List, I had an open mind. We currently have Anderson windows in our home, and have been happy with them for the past 30 years. The appointment started well - the representative arrived on time, removed his shoes, and tried to build rapport with my husband and I. I'm in sales too, so I can appreciate his approach. I told him right up front that we were not prepared to make a decision today, we still had research to do with other companies, and I absolutely do not want any high pressure sales techniques, so please do not use that approach with us. He said ok. That's about the best part of the meeting - it was all downhill from there. We did a walk around the house and he stopped at the first window, and told us our windows were rotted and desperately in need of replacement. Ok, that's why he was here. But he didn't stop there...he stopped at EVERY SINGLE WINDOW, and pushed and prodded and seems completely in disgust at our windows. He wasted about 30 minutes of our time doing this. We got the point - our windows need replacing, which is why he was there. Then he went on to insult our sunroom windows (that we had installed 1 year ago...we had no intention of changing them), and kept on harping on how awful they were. Did he expect us to buy windows for our 1 year old sunroom too, even though we told him we had no intention of doing so? Eventually I had to tell him to stop harping our our sunroom and please move on to the task at hand. At this point, we were already unimpressed with is approach. Then came the pricing, which is when things really went downhill. He did his math, presented me with a number, and told me that this is the number if we buy TODAY. Now, remember that I told him that I do not appreciate high pressure sales techniques, and we will not make a decision today? I reminded him of this conversation. Then his attitude totally changed. He made a big dramatic show of crossing out the "today" number, and he acted like it was a big hassle for him to come out more than once. He made us feel like he was doing us a favor by being there today. I was in total disgust. That approach was totally unnecessary. It was the most unprofessional experience I have ever had with a salesperson in my home. It was worse than a timeshare presentation. And to make matters worse, at the end of the presentation, as I was clearly fuming and practically kicking him out of my house, he had the nerve to ask me to give him a great review when corporate sent me their survey. Did he really think he did a great job? I was shocked. So, Renewal by Anderson, if you are listening, please take this feedback seriously. 1) Please train your salespeople to know their audience. If a potential client says they do not want high pressure sales, THEN DO NOT USE HIGH PRESSURE SALES TECHNIQUES. This approach is antiquated and will give your company nothing but a bad reputation. 2) Also please train your salespeople that they catch more flies with honey. I didn't need to hear how awful our windows are, over and over and over again. Once was plenty. I did not write this review out of anger or disgust. I truly want other people to understand what they are getting into if Renewal by Anderson comes into their home. I think their windows are probably a good product, however I will not be buying them. Not because of the price or quality, but simply because of their salesman.

The work itself turned out to be very good. Their sales pitch leaves a lot to be desired. They pressure their sales pitch. They came in and said, "Well, if you don't sign on the dotted line today you're going to lose a big discount. What's costing you X and is going to cost you X plus Y. I can walk out the store and you can call me back tomorrow." and that's nonsense. The product is good but the sales is horrendous, I give it a zero, not even a one. They were not truthful. They came when they said they would. They did it all in one day. They were responsive. They have a quality product. They also have people that know what they're doing with the install but I think it's all about the pressure sales, which just turned me off. They could do a lot better by being honest upfront.

The sales call was painfully long where they are forced to follow a ridiculous script. However we went with them since they are rated the best at not ruining old molding around windows. The installers were amazing and very professional but after the installation you have to talk to some person and promise you will give them a yelp review which I don't use. My issue is that they stated the window would be Fibrex on the outside and nothing in their presentation discussed PVC coated aluminum nor the possibility that it would be used and they were at my house for hours giving them ample time to discuss. I feel that it was a bait and switch on us with these windows. They asked us to pick out the outside color in the fibrex for the Windows. So now I am not sure what exactly were we picking out? Their presentation bashed this material along with all the others that weren't fibrex. The installers said there was no choice since our windows were so deep and that they weren't sure if a special cut of Fibrex could be ordered. I have no idea if this material is under warranty and the salesman won't answer my question on this via email. Also we had a defect lock on one window and the repair center has yet to call us and set up an appointment to fix the defective lock. I shouldn't have to follow up on this since it was installed that way and noted at that time. I think the windows are fine but the high pressure sales and lack of follow up leave some room for improvement with this company.

We’re sorry you thought your replacement window consultation was too long. At Renewal by Andersen of New Jersey and New York Metro, we strive to ensure that our design consultants are comprehensive in their presentations. We apologize if this was an inconvenience to you, but we recognize that replacing the windows and patio doors in your home is a big decision and we want you to have all the information you need to make an informed decision. The length of the presentation depends upon many factors, and most may be only 90 minutes long, but it appears you had many windows and a patio door to replace, so that would certainly extend the presentation. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience and if there’s anything we can do to earn your business, please let us know. Sincerely, The Renewal by Andersen of New Jersey and New York Metro Team

The Salesperson was very aggressive. Right away he was pitching the hard sell. If they have the best windows, I don't see why the heavy handed tactics are necessary. He pulled every trick in the book to convince my wife and I to sign our lives away on these way overpriced windows. I felt like I was dealing with a time share salesman. Another aspect we didn't like, was that he spent a good portion of the 3+ hour pitch talking about other window companies. He also gave us these crazy buy today price schemes. I really wanted to smack him after a while. In short the guy was a jerk, and I would never deal with this company again. A Very disappointing experience.

Made an appointment for the rep to come to the house for an estimate. They insisted my wife and I be there. The rep was pleasant enough. She went through the house, took measurements and then did some demonstrations. It was a bit of a hard sell and we signed a contract. I knew I had a 3 day right of rescission. Afterwards, we knew we should have looked around and got a few more estimates. So, we promptly cancelled, looked around, and ended up going with a local well regarded contractor to install Energy Star 800 series windows for almost $9,000 less than RBA. RBA must make its money off people who are in a rush and don't look around. Best advice: get estimates. RBA is way overpriced. No window is worth $1300 an opening.

Spoke with an operator who asked name, address, phone, how many windows looking to replace and then asked what the problems with my current windows were and I said I would explain at the time of estimate. I have five windows all in separate locations and did not feel like getting into each problem-said they were old and then she asked how old. How old? I have no idea as our house is 113 years old and we have been here 25! Then she explained that all decision makers needed to be present at time of estimate. She asked if anyone else resided at my home. I said I did not have to answer that as I am the decision maker and I would be present. She then tried to get me to answer the question again to which I replied I did not have to answer this question. She then said the computer was showing someone named George residing here and did he live here. Now I became angry and again said I did not have to answer this question as I was the decision maker and I would be present. At this point I asked to speak to a supervisor who tried, not very effectively, to explain why they needed to know this. I guess I know why they need to know this. So they can try to close the sale at the time of estimate and I suppose they think women need their husbands present in order to make a decision. I found these questions invasive, sexist and insulting. I told the supervisor none of this was her fault as Im sure it was the policy of the company. I told her the operator should have stopped asking questions once I said I was the decision maker and would be present. I will now deal with Pella Windows as I have always done- just thought Andersen might have been a bit cheaper.

Response from Renewal by Andersen of New Jersey - New York Metro
Thank you for taking the time to provide a review of your experience with Renewal by Andersen of Central New Jersey and New York Metro. We sincerely apologize for your recent experience. Let me assure you that Renewal by Andersen does not require all homeowners to be present during an in-home consultation. We may ask if all homeowners can be present as we have found over the years that given the nature of the project our customers actually prefer this type of consultation. It is, however, absolutely not required. If that is not preferred or convenient for you we will be happy to set up an appointment that works for you. Again, thank you for contacting us. It is your feedback that helps us improve our experience with our customers. Sincerely, The Renewal by Andersen of Central New Jersey and New York Metro Team

BUYER/CUSTOMER BEWARE!!!!!! Horrendous customer service and obscene pricing!!!! I had an estimate scheduled for 7pm on a Monday evening. I received a call at 6:50pm that the sales rep was running late and would be there closer to 7:15... At 7:20, still no sign of the rep so I called into Miguel, a sales manager. He tells me the rep is driving around my neighborhood searching for my house. 7:25, 7:30 pass and still no sign of him. As my family and I wait, Miguel is yelling to another associate in the office who is on the phone with the sales rep as he drives aimlessly around my residential neighborhood. Finally, Mike Fiorillo, the sales rep, shows up at 7:32pm. He comes inside my house, half-heartedly apologizes for being late, and begins to take measurements. At approximately 7:45, we sit down at my dining room table as he begins his sales pitch. Mike begins by telling me the entire history of the company and then asks us about previous contractors we?ve had. He asks us to rate their service 1-5? then emphasizes how Renewal By Anderson would do EVERYTHING they can to give us a ?5? experience? As 8:15 approaches, I interrupt the sales pitch to ask how long it would take to create a quote. He said at least another 30 minutes and asks if he could just come back another day. Stunned, I said no, I expect a quote today. After several attempts to get me to agree to invite him back, he relented and worked up a number for me. I had allotted 7-8:30pm as the 90-min window they needed. It was unfortunate that Mike lost 32 of those 90 minutes being late. Mike works up a number and presents it to my wife and me. For just the bathroom window and bay, he quoted us $14,217. Let that sink in for a minute? $14,217!!! He then quoted me another $4,600 for the living room window. Again, I sat stunned? Seeing the reaction on my face, Mike says to me, ?I told you purchasing Anderson is like buying a car.? Of course, I figured it was metaphorical...not literal. I began to wrap up the conversation, and he immediately dropped the initial price by 25% if I signed right there. I said no again. He replied with, ?Well, you?ll definitely get a cheaper quote someplace else, but we do the job right and I?m trying to save you in the long term. If you don?t want to save money in the long term, then I don?t know what to tell you.? <~~ This is the type of sales tactics that corporate promotes/tolerates?? He then gathered his materials and left. Renewal by Anderson?s service, approach, and pricing is so incredibly out of line. For a company who spends so much time during their pitch stressing the importance of a ?5? service rating, I?m surprised by their arrogance and bully-style tactics. My family will not even consider Anderson moving forward and would encourage EVERYONE who reads this post to look elsewhere.

The service was wonderful. They were on time and efficient. They explained to us just how to open and clean the windows. They were very thorough. We are totally willing to come back. Actually, we had one small problem that was not their fault, but they came right out, took care of it, and helped us with understanding what had happened and how to fix the problem. They were really great. I would recommend them to anyone. As a matter of fact, I did and they went ahead and had windows done by Andersen as well. I thought their pricing was fair.

The whole deal is a bit a circus show...a 90+ minute presentation that slagged any and all competitors, showed me a $100 monthly gas bill for a 4,000 square foot house (in February) all because of the new windows, and then came the $60,000 price for 25 windows, knocked down to $55,000, and if I bought that day it would be $42,000. The guy was a nice enough guy but at the end of the day, not a company I want to do business with. By the way, I have a firm quote from a Angie's List A rated window company using Andersen 400 windows for just a bit over half the $42,000 buy it now quote. I am all for capitalism, but this is a bit much.

It went fine. It was a much needed job and it went very well. It took them about 3 days because they were a little behind the first day with finishing up another job. Other than that, everything turned out perfectly well.
Description of Work: They replaced all the windows in the house, about 13 windows.

I got flyer in the mail for Renewal By Anderson. (Buy one get one 50% off, so it 25% discount. I did not read fine print). All my current windows are Anderson and they are original windows installed 28 years ago. I know Anderson makes quality windows, so I decided to give them a call. I got evening appointment. Salesman John arrived on time and explained everything to me. He demonstrated his windows and told me Fibrex are the best windows in the market and they are only available through RBA. He also demonstrated heat lamp, which now that I think about it, is apple to orange. (He used small 4 inch by 4 inch glass to demonstrate competitor's window and used his 2 feet by 2 feet full window for Anderson.) Finally he gave me one quote for whole house with two patio doors and another for 14 windows. Most of the my windows are regular windows. The quote for whole house was 66K. John showed me his president's letter and said if I sign up that day it will be 30% off. For 14 windows it will be 10% plus 15% off. (Which by the way is less than 25% offer from the flyer.) The quote for two door was almost 10K. I negotiated little bit and finally decided to go with whole house without 2 doors. We agreed on price of 37K. I told John, I might cancel if I do not feel comfortable later on. (Remember, discounts are only available if you sign up same day. They call it "Instand Reward Program".) Next day I did some research and felt the price was too high and even if it is reasonable I need to look what other contractors are offering. So I canceled the contract. John was very courteous and patient. I can not blame him for doing his job but I really hate the sales tactic. I would recommend getting quotes from other contractors before contacting them.
