I have used Monkâ s several times for a variety of projects starting with small ones on which they did such a good work eventually gave them several very large projects. Iâ ve always started with George Day. Heâ s terrific at defining the job, costing it out, and coordinating getting the work done. Heâ s also excellent at after the job follow up. One thing about monks. If youâ re the least bit dissatisfied with anything, they stick with it to make it right. They are not the cheapest guys in town, but their work is superb.

I couldn't be happier with Monk's and Ward Malnuk! Whenever I need something, I call Ward, and if Monk's doesn't do it, he suggests someone who will. We purchased our house at the end of 2021, and Ward gave us a complete and competitive bid to paint both the inside and exterior of our house--and nothing had been done to it for at least 15 years. Gustavo was a real pro and gave us useful information about painting the outside, especially on the south side of the house where we get the most sun, and he and his guys were so pleased with the way it turned out that they took their own pictures of the finished work! On the inside, Randal stood in for Gustavo, and made the packing away of materials, sweeping, prep and painting easy, and even put things back in the various rooms. And later, Monk's replaced our sliding glass door and back storm door in time for winter. I can't speak highly enough about Monk's, Ward, Gustavo and the crew. Things were left clean and tidy, and they were so pleasant that I missed them once they were gone. I will be calling them again!

Monks team was hired to strip and paint the exterior of my house. There were several areas that needed additional prep work - Shane Sweeney was as always professional , prompt and approachable to review the options . The painting team led by Adolfo was very clean , courteous and proof of the work they do. Pleasure to work with Shane and the Monks painting team and would recommend their services

Reliable service over a long period of time

We just had our upstairs bathroom gutted and redone through Monkâ s. The whole process was great, from the design service with Zoriana Pogorilets to the final punch list. Nelson Santiago and his crew were amazing. We never had a day without someone working the entire time of the renovation. At times there were as many as 3 people working in that tiny space, working to get it done on time. We always knew what was going and who was in the house. They took great care to protect the areas of our house not under construction, keeping the disruption to the smallest area possible. My wife continued to work from home through the entire process. Iâ d hire them again and Iâ d recommend them to anyone with a renovation or repair project.

Mike Mina had the project and his team nailed down start to finish having our entire townhouse painted top to bottom. I was able to hand off the project and the keys, received updates, and a completed project in the timeline promised. The walls were primed, prepped, holes filled, sanded down, and repainted, while protecting the new carpeting, and moving two large pieces of furniture. Highly recommend.

We have used Monks for several projects (bathroom, kitchen, doors, painting) they get the job done timely and they make sure to follow up to make sure you are happy with the end result. If there are any issues Jason will make sure they are remidiated before the consider the job finished. We will use Monks for future projects!

Working with Brian Rickenbach and the team from Monks we replaced the flooring and through most of our home and replaced a sliding door with french doors. Brian and the team were very responsive, answered all our questions and were very thorough throughout the entire process! They delivered as promised and the floors and doors look great! Nice job! Brian Rickenbach is as professional as it gets. From the beginning he gave me a timeline of when I would get my quote, called me as soon as he sent the quote, followed up with questions and had the job scheduled within a few days. Monks handled a multitude of projects for us: trim work, door installation, window installation, painting. I wish I knew about them before we redid our whole kitchen. I am extremely meticulous and asked for a few minor things to be fixed and Brian right away agreed and had it fixed for me without hesitation. I wouldn't hesitate to have them do all our home projects, big or small, for us. The whole experience was extremely smooth - Brian answers all calls and emails right away, which was important to me. Our house was also left spotless after all projects.

Monk's recently completed my 4th renovation project - our main bathroom. They did a great job as they have with the prior three projects. They are easy to work with, professional, and detailed. Marien Ronan, our Project Manager was always available and quick to respond when there was a question or a change needed. She always made sure we knew what was going on and made sure the work was done to our satisfaction. Any requests were accommodated well.

Brian was so helpful and amazing on our job. He helped us get the exact look we wanted. He made it an amazing experience as well.

Monkâ s was amazing at doing a flood repair in our basement and work in our upstairs bathroom too. It was incredible how quickly they were able to remove the damage in the basement and then rebuild and paint. It looked better than before the damage â ºï¸ . Whatâ s even better was the amazing customer relations. We worked with Mike who was so kind and personable and patiently guided us through every step of the process. He was very trustworthy and really wanted to make sure we understood everything and were happy with the plans and final project. Mike and his team, which included the incredible workmanship of Franz, always showed up on time and produced beautiful, impeccable work. We are so happy to have found this company and will be using again!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Trevor Monk, Brian Rickenbach, and all of the guys from Monks!! Brian and Trevor were a joy to work with. They and their team redid our entire basement quickly, efficiently, and professionally (after another builder spent over a year at our house creating a disaster of a mess down there). They had to tear nearly everything out that the other builder had done, re-do all the woodwork, order/rehang doors, and prep and paint all of the wallsâ ¦and they did all of that in less than a week! And it looks amazing! And all in time for the holidays! And their price was reasonable too! Truly a Christmas miracle! I highly recommend them and will definitely be using them again in the future!

Can't say enough great things about our recent experience with Monks. Our home had many, many layers of paint/wallpaper from the last 5 decades.  It was not a simple job and not a job a non-professional could attempt. They throughly explained the process and were able to start the job right away. We were planning to be away and they went out of their way to meet with us ahead of our leaving, and work in the home while we were away, finishing ahead of schedule when we returned. They completely removed the wallpaper they could, and where it was impossible, they removed any signs of wallpaper/textures. They took perfect care of the home and kept us updated. They completed the job ahead of schedule, left the home in clean condition, and it looks even better than I anticipated. Jon and Alberto were friendly, professional, and very patient with my last minute paint changes, questions, etc. We'd highly recommend their services.

After 18 years since our last exterior paint job my husband and I hired Monks Home Improvements to finally get a must needed paint job. We were introduced to Roberto Abrantes. Roberto was great to work with. My husband and I had several questions before committing to a company and Roberto took initiative to revisit us to go over those questions. We immediately committed to working with Monks. Tito was the foreman we worked with, his team always showed up early and were very respectful. I received many compliments on the paint job and already recommended Monks to a few neighbors.

We are having a kitchen and dining area remodel on a 19th Century house with very small interior spaces. Anina Peter patiently and enthusiastically walked us through the entire process, offered several design options, and helped us choose everything from cabinets to hardware to countertops and paint colors. The process was efficient and the materials were competitively priced. (We did decide to use our own carpenter to install.) Anina answered all our questions, including several back-and-forths about various details via email. She made this challenging process much smoother than it might overwise have been.

I hired Monks to paint the interior of my house. To keep things simple, here are the problems I experienced: 1. They did not paint items above your eye level (i.e. you needed a ladder to see) such as the tops of the doors and the upper trims of the windows 2. They did not paint items below your eye level (i.e. you needed to crouch down to see) such as the bottoms of the doors and the lower trims of the windows 3. They painted on hardware such as strike plates, doorknobs, window handles, hinges, sliding doors upper/lower tracks, and more. It is nearly impossible to get the paint off the window handles, so ultimately, I will have to purchase replacements. 4. There is overspray on windows, glass, pipes, wires, etc. 5. There is a lot of drips and uneven painting throughout the house I did a warranty claim, and the owner told me that they could fix everything in 3 days. They did not. They came the following week for 2 days and the painters told me they finished. They did no t. Honestly, I think the crux of the issue is their business model. You might deal with a somewhat reasonable estimator such as Jon Clauson, but ultimately, he is not managing the project. It seemed no one was really managing the project and ensuring quality. Monks seems to be a volume business and subcontracts the work out to people who are not full-time employees, so it is not surprising they might not care about the end result. They certainly are not accountable for the end result. I believe there are 3 ways you hear about a home improvement contractor: referrals, advertisements, or a hybrid of both. I would go with referrals where you have seen their work at a friends or families place. Also, obtain multiple bids and contact 2 references for the one you choose who vouch solidly for them. Overall, I would not recommend Monks. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or reservations about using Monks.
