In both my e-mail and in my telephone conversation, I advised Fox Roofing that I am under contract to purchase a property, but that I was contracting for roof repair that needed to be completed by settlement in three weeks. The receptionist informed me that she had no record of my Angie's List e-mail as she took my information. Then she told me that the company has a policy of charging a $75 fee for the estimate, since I might not complete the transaction as I was not the property owner. I reminded her that I was asking for an estimate, and there was no guarantee that I would complete the transaction, anyway. She insisted that this was the company's policy, but that the fee would be deducted from the contract. I pointed out to that the only way that I benefit from that policy is if I contract with Fox Roofing, regardless of how their estimate compared to the other estimates. I would never do business with Fox Roofing or any other contractor who charges for an estimate.

I called Fox roofing for an estimate on a roof repair. THey responded quickly and we set up a date for the estimate. Mr. Fox showed up on time and was very professional. He came on a Thursday and said we would get the estimate in the mail the following week. It never came. I wiated a few weeks and then called and told the receptionist we never received the estimate. She said they were very busy, that Mr. Fox was coming in that afternoon and he would call me. He never did and now over a month later we still don't have the estimate. We were ready to hire them for the job as this site gave good reviews, but now I would definitely not recommend them. We were very disappointed at their lack of response.

Gary arrived just a few minutes ahead of time (and ahead of me.) He checked out the roof from inside the attic as well as up close from the outside. He pointed out a bird's nest that was the likely point of entry. I explained that I was unsure how long the leak had been allowing water in, and he agreed with my notion that it can't have been too long based on the condition of the wood. He explained ice dams to me and how they work, and described how his proposed repair would prevent the problem. He also explained the nature of the materials used in the construction of my home, and the materials he would use to perform the repair. Further, he assured me that in his opinion my roof appeared to have a few more years of service before requiring replacement. I found Gary easy to talk to and express my concerns to. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. Although the price of the repair was higher than I had expected, it came in lower than other estimates I got for the same work.

They were very responsive and accomodated my schedule. I had 2 estimates when Fox came out - the first said I needed a new roof. The second said I only needed repairs costing $350. When Bud from Fox came out, he clearly explained why the roof had leaked and how he would fix it. He fixed it right then and it only cost $119.

The team of workers were very prompt and did a wonderful job. The only thing I would avoid if I had to have a new roof again would be to be sure the windows are covered. The white strips on the windows are not white any longer even after scrubbing them. Also, cover your shrubs - when throwing down the old shingles, some of my shrubs were flattened.

This was the third time my mom had a roofer come in. First two jobs done by other roofers were not done properly and roof leaked for years. Fox came out right away, gave a detailed estimate and did the job in one day. Roof has not leaked during the noreaster that came right after the job was done, Thank God!!!!

The owner, Gary, was very responsive and helped us select appropriate windows and siding. He was very helpful. He made specific arrangements and kept us informed when the crews would be arriving. He always was available with any questions. The roofing work was completed in three days. The siding & window work took a 3 person crew 1 month to preform. Prices were as quoted and estimated. The roof was $5,000 and the siding & windows were $25,000. The crew was easy to work with and always very polite and responsive. I do have one concern where the insulation was not properly installed around the windows. We discussed this with them and came up with a solution which was done during the course of the job. I would recommend them to others.

I had a porch roof that was leaking at the skylights. I had several estimates from contractors to do the job. Gary was the only one that gave me a written itemized list of the job. While the other contractors (all from Angies List) where all with in a few dollars of each other the itemized list won the job. I originally had the estimate done almost a year ago. But could not afford to do it until now. The original estimate was honored and I was happy with the job

His prices were very competitive and the quality of his work was very good.

It went great. I had talked to a few companies. I was getting a different story from each person I spoke with. I found Fox Roofing in Angie's List. They came right out. Whereas one company told me that I needed a new roof, they quickly identified a few nail holes. They patched them and they haven't leaked since. The leak around the chimney was a bigger issue because of the angle and poor design of the construction. They patched it but the next NorEaster, it leaked again (not nearly as badly.) They came back the day after I called, pulled back the shingles, applied a special sealant, and replaced the flashing. They did not charge anything extra for the additional work. They stand by the quality of their work. I would definitely call them again.

Gary Fox returned our call in a timely manner and promptly arrived to give us an estimate. He was very knowledgeable and professional, and described the work that needed to be done in detail. Gave us a time frame in which the work could be done and completed the work as scheduled. We had checked out other companies, but Fox gave us the most competitive estimate. We are happy with the work.

They arrived on time as planned. Started work right away and worked until the job was finished; 1 day for the roof, 2 days for the foscia, 2 hrs. for the gutters. Gary, the owner, was hands on, stopping by every day and talking with the foreman. The workers knew their jobs and helped each other. I'm retired and I watched them every step of the way. I did have one issue with the patio roof. Gary came over, we discussed it and it was resolved the next day. He said, "WHATEVER MAKES YOU HAPPY".

My wife used Angie's list again for recommendations. You're very quick to respond to request for recommendations. We called Fox to flash chimney in hopes it would stop the leaking in our basement. They were prompt and responsive. Came when they said they would. Only negative is they did job when no one was home. However, after 2 rain storms the area has not leaked. They were the first to succeed. No more leak!! Again, we are impressed and satisfied with a Angie suggestion. Thanks.

Gary Fox came in house to see leak area, and inspected roof. Knew the cause of roof leak was not roof itself (only 15 years old) but rotted/cracked pipe flanges and exhaust vents. Knew roof type, warranty life, shingle type and color. Recommended also replacing ridge vent because of inferior type that could later cause problems. I did do that since the roof may last another 10 years. The estimate given was one price for repair, and another to replace ridge vent. So you could do one or the other, or both. No pressure. He and Christine in the office are very nice people. I must say what a relief after an initial fruitless search for roofers to even call back, let alone some wanting to automatically replace the whole roof.

They were able to come the day after I called. I received an estimate and they were able to complete the job within 30 minutes. Very friendly and helpful.

Came next day to give an estimate. Told exactly what he would be doing and repaired within short time of the estimate.

I had no problems with the timeliness, courtesy, or clean-up. They were very good at scheduling the dumpster.

Aside from a return trip for additional sealing, I would highly recommend this company. The initial estimate & company's employee who performed the actual work were excellent!

There was an instance when they called and said we were playing around with dates, and mine was done on Columbus Day weekend. They said they would bring materials and put it on the roof, but they ended up doing it another day. They did come. They did the job; but I didn't know they were done, so I guess it would be nice if they had a doorknob hanger to let you know and that they would be calling you when the bill was due. Because when the secretary called me to let me know the balance was due, I really didn't know they were done with the job.

For estimate came promptly at scheduled time. Gave very reasonable estimate and seemed very knowledgeable. Took a while to schedule actual work, but when done, it was done well and quickly.

WORK WAS DONE IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER AND CLEAN UP AS WELL. I DID APPRECIATE THE APPRAISER POINTING OUT ADDITIONAL ITEMS THAT ALSO NEEDED TO BE DONE AND ARE BETTER TO DO WHILE HE WAS ON ROOF. EG: SEALING THE CHIMNEYS AND FANS. WORKER WAS PLEASANT AND KNOWLEDGEABEL.

CALLED THEM BECAUSE I'VE SEEN MORE OF THEIR SIGNS THAN ANYONE ELSE. THEY WERE COMPETITIVELY PRICED, DID EXCELLENT WORK, & I HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THEIR HONESTY. WRAPPED UP ON TIME.
