+ 7 moreThe entire job took 4 days, one day to allow spackle drying and tile setting. We opted not to re-tile the walls as our own choice. We received a quote via email. ETC picked up our new vanity, faucet & floor tile from our local home improvement store, which was a tremendous help as these items were very heavy. First contact was difficult (understandable with busy contractors & busy customers!) We found text messaging worked well. ETC were both patient and perfectionists. They provided a large swatch book for paint choices, recommended the type of molding & paint (which they purchased for us) and listened to our ideas. All went very smooth from the initial tear out throughout the job. They laid out painting tarps to and from the work area & cleaned up thoroughly after sanding and painting. This included removal and disposing of all materials. Hanging the towel bar and toilet paper holder were not included in the original estimate, however, they had no issue with installing these items at no additional charge. If other materials were needed, they would pick them up as necessary. They were professional and extremely pleasant to work with. They did not rush to finish this job and continually asked if everything was to our liking. We had difficulty finding a contractor that would do all the work we needed, including plumbing and painting, so we were glad we chose ETC Home Improvement as they provided all the work we required. Yes, we would hire again. Thumbs up to all at ETC. We love our new bathroom, many thanks.

+ 3 moreI have only good things to say... Answered the phone right away or called back immediately if they were unavailable. Communicated almost daily. The floor came out beautiful as well as the paint job and the kitchen came great. They installed the new kitchen cabinets, backsplash and tiled floor and removed a wall. Punctual, very neat and everything came out great. If anything was not to our complete satisfaction, it was fixed until we were happy. We plan on using them again for a future bathroom re-model.

+ 1 moreI bought ETC's package through Angie's List for $99 to paint one room(within a certain sq ft). Through email, I told etc that I wasn't quite ready for them to come and paint. Months later when I was ready, I called and they came promptly and gave me my estimate. My kitchen is large and it wasn't completely covered by the deal that I bought(which I was anticipating). He only wanted an extra $100 for the work. We set a date for the painting, which I had to cancel because I wasn't sure which color I wanted. Eddie and Francisco understood and did not hold a grudge. When I finally picked my color, we scheduled a date. On the day of, they were supposed to come at 10am. Unfortunately, they were running late but they did call me and tell me that they would be there by 11am, which they were. The painter came and did an excellent job. I was changing my toilet at the time of him painting and he even helped me lift my old toilet into a contractor bag. Anyway back to the painting. I had an area on my wall that was spackled by the previous owners of my house. He sanded the whole wall down and made everything all flush when he could have just painted over it(which would have made it an eyesore). I was very impressed with their work and am considering them for work in the future.

Description of Work: The original deal was for installation of wooden flooring upto 300 sq.ft. for $250. We bought the coupon and in formed the contractor and agreed to have the flooring installed on certain date. (We had to remove all the furniture, carpet and prep the floor for installation) We were clearly told that the $250 deal was only for the installation labor. We had to supply all materials, to which we agreed. We had the flooring material for about two weeks inside the house to make sure that it was at proper temperature and humidity for installation. On the designated day 3 contractors showed up on time and went to work immmediately. Several items, such as door threshold and nails for the nail gun were needed, so they drove to the nearest home improvement store and got the materials at my expense. They did not charge me for driving about 10 miles. We also agreed to pay for the installation of the wooden trimmings along the floors. We had taken them off ourselves) By around noon time the work had been competed. (The room size was 12" X 13") When they left the room and the garage were spotlessly clean. all the trash had been deposited in trash containers. For all the additional cost of materials and labor it came to $200 - which we think is reasonable. The flooring looks very professional. Now the room needs to be painted to make it look really good. Naturally the hallway, bathroom and the kitchen area also need painting and they are coming back soon to do all that work. We are very happy with their professionalism, so they are getting more work from us. Some people complain, because they expect too much for $250. Actually our other contractor had quoted much higher price for the same job. I would recommend ETC Home Improvements any time.

+ -1 morethey worked efficiently and cleanly. the carpenter was very good and even managed to work around some issues with the old areas meeting up with the new. they even helped us with nailing down a few boards from our steps on the deck at no extra. the rating would have more A's in it if it were not for the initial delay in getting back to us and the aggressive and difficult to understand phone messages once we posted an unfavorable comment. their work is good but my advice to them would be to be more friendly and careful on the phone. and to leave clear easy to understand phone messages. the first time they left a message we could not even understand who it was that was calling us.
Description of Work: They came out right away to see what work I wanted done. I have not seen them since. That was on 3/21. I wanted them to match the materials. They were going to look for them, not sure how long it takes to find clapboard. I need to follow up with them. 4/30 - UPDATE: apparently a mis-comunication delayed the start of the job but once that was cleared up it went very well.... we bought the materials for the job and they then showed up promptly to complete it. they removed and replaced the old rotting clapboard and trim of a small section of the garage

+ -1 moreHe did some fine patch and touch-up work carefully dried the compound and applied two (2) coats of paint in a careful workman like manner. Upon completion he cleaned up packed up and waited for pickup without interruption. Although it was only a small job I was quite pleased with the work and will calling them again when the weather warms up for some additional outside jobs.
Description of Work: ETC's painter John was dropped off at my house in the morning to paint a small guest bathroom on the ground floor. I supplied the paint and he supplied the equipment and skill.

+ 0 moreI watched all the work. Ed and Francisco first carefully cleaned out a bottom rotted 2 ft section without damaging the quarter round. They then cut to exact size the replacement pieces, inserted and nailed them in place, caulked all joints, and primed the replacement section. All this was done while on a ladder. Very professional and well done. I would recommend their services without reservation.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced rotted wood beneath the gutter.

+ 4 moreEddy did the work and his associate, Francisco, helped and managed the business aspects. Eddy was meticulous and didn't stop working for the entire 4 hours. The job was more complicated than it seemed at first, but Eddy was persistent and got everything right. The repair was done, they cleaned up nicely, and Eddy carefully caulked around the door and the repair. They left the stoop in better condition than I expected, and the repair was done better than I expected. I would not hesitate to use them on another job.
Description of Work: I purchased a special $149 for 4 hours of wood restoration from AngiesList. The wood under my front doorway was warped and rotten, resulting in a wobbly and unsteady stoop upon entering the house, and moisture getting in.

+ -1 moreEverything went very well. I thought they were a little on the high side cost wise but I was pleased with the work they did. I paid an additional cost of around $700 because they recommended I cover the replaced board with aluminum, it’s like an aluminum siding trim. I still thought it was too high a trim for 2 garage doors. They did a good job. They were on time and they showed up for the estimate and for the work exactly when they said they would. The one day we had bad weather, they called to cancel ahead of time. The only negative thing was a little difficulty with English, there was a little difficulty having conversation. On the appraisal, they did bring somebody with them that spoke fluent English but when he was here and he was trying to explain some of the things he wanted to do, he didn’t know the exact words. But the quality of the work was very good.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal coupon from ETC Home Improvement to replace the wood that was rotted and put in an aluminum trim over two garage doors.

+ 4 moreI have an apartment building. I had a contractor that came and couldn't finish the work. These guys came, braving the many snowstorms we had this winter. They were able to get job done. I did my comparison shopping and these guys were the most reasonable on top of that. After the job they would come by to make sure everything was okay. I plan on using them for my other apartments.
Description of Work: They remodeled my kitchen and bath. After removing the old cabinets and tub we found that the floors were totally rotted out. They were able to repair the flooring in only a day.

+ 0 moreGreat job on the ceilings. Both the ceilings and walls were an afterthought since we originally signed up for their $99 one room special paint job. We had most of the house painted about 5 years ago (skipped the ceilings), so we decided to go for it. also, The additional walls we asked them to do because the first job (5 years ago) turned out too pink. The only issue I have was caused by me, and I will keep it in mind for the next person I hire to do something, because it happened once before. That is, E.T.C quoted $1500 to paint the walls, and said they couldn't come down because it would take them another three days. Well, it took them less than two days, so I guess I should have asked them "Well, how much if it only takes two?" My mistake. Generally, they did a very good job, except I wasn't happy that they left their trash (paint cans, etc.) in large contractor bags for me to carry down my 700 ft. driveway. I think they should have hauled that away. Also, they put trash in my clearly marked recycle can that I had to then dig out.
Description of Work: Taped seams in and painted most of our ceilings; spackled and painted about 50% of our walls.

+ -1 moreGreat experience from start to finish with etc home improvememnt. I love the fact that it was them chasing me to set a date for the job - it's usually the other way around. The bathroom job was pretty straight forward - they applied 2 coats of paint and left the room spotless. The study was a complex job as we wanted small sections of the crown molding painted a diff color on all four walls. Again, qualiy work with a spotless well painted room at the end. We have contracted with them for job #3 this Friday.

+ 0 moreFrancisco and Eddy from Etc. were very friendly and professional. All the work was done meticulously. Prior to painting they did spackling and sanding. They were very neat prepping (they used drop cloths on all furniture as well as placing drop cloths in the hallway and up the stairs) and cleaning up. All work was done neatly. The sheetrock was done perfectly with no seams showing. I would definitely use Etc again would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Etc. painted 2 bedrooms and our basement. In addition they sheet rocked a large area in the basement.

+ -1 moreScheduling was good. There were a couple of snow storms so we had to reschedule, but that wasn't their fault. It took them one day to complete the work. When they came in, they said that the ceiling was not included and that would be extra. They told me they would send me a quote, which was for $200. When they came and did the work, which was good, I mentioned that I paid the Big Deal already, so I should only owe another $100, but they told me that the $200 was extra on top of the Big Deal, which surprised me. However, the guys were really nice and did a good job.
