The recent remodel of our small bathroom (4.5? x 7.5?) was a painful experience. We endured weeks of dirt and dust while progress was very slow. Dominick spent weeks in our house with very little progress to show for it. Repeated requests to expedite completion of the renovation were unsuccessful. Furthermore, poor workmanship was Dominick?s biggest weakness. Initially, he installed the wrong tile on our shower floor and later had difficulties executing a simple wall tile layout as we requested. Some tiles were found to be crooked while others were not even with the adjacent tiles. All had to be removed and replaced. We had to buy more tiles so he could finish the job. While working in our house, Dominick damaged the kitchen ceiling right below the bathroom floor and the bedroom wall adjacent to the bathroom (water+ structural damage). Both had to be repaired and repainted with mixed results. Finally, we were surprised to learn that the original price quoted was not the final price. It?s very interesting to note that each work scope paragraph in the official contract issued by Dennis Interdonato Inc. that included the sentence: ?WE WILL REPLACE/REPAIR AND BILL HOMEOWNER (TIME & MATERIAL) ACCORDINGLY? received an extra charge? As the project progressed, we were handed invoices (totaling >$650) for frivolous work related issues like: ?walls not straight?, damaged plywood floor must be replaced, new vanity didn?t line up with house copper plumbing, repair toilet flange, repair shower diverter, install necessary shutoffs, etc. All were part of the original remodeling job quote we received from CB Renovations LLC. In the past, we have had the pleasure of having many talented professional contractors working in our home. There have been situations where more work was needed than originally thought necessary. We gladly paid the extra charges because we knew that they were legitimate and the jobs were always completed in a timely manner. This was not the case with CB Renovations LLC/Dennis Interdonato, Inc.
Description of Work: Small bathroom (4.5’ x 7.5’) off our master bedroom was remodeled. Old bathroom was completely gutted and rebuilt. New tiles and fixtures installed.

Response from CB Renovations LLC
In response to the member’s comments: First of all my company CB Renovations has a 5 star rating and Interdonato Inc. has been rated "Best of the Best" in Monmouth and Ocean Counties for 2011 and 2012 with an impeccable record for over 30 years. As far as dust is concerned, we always had drop cloths on the floors and plastic on the furniture; I even cleaned the furniture, myself, at the end of the job. The contract stipulates that once the walls are opened up, there may be unforeseen issues, which we make sure the customer is aware of before we continue the job. This was the delay in the job. Behind the walls were three different areas where the walls were crooked; in order to do the job right, this had to be corrected. The member has left out a few important details regarding the workmanship. As far as the tiles in the shower floor are concerned the member purchased them without consulting us. The member said the tiles were crooked and not even, again, he left out important details. The tiles he purchased were inferior. He stated that the tiles had to all be removed and replaced, which is not so. The member was not sure how far he wanted the tiles to go up the wall; we presented what we thought was attractive, with the understanding that we would change it if he was not happy, and we did. The member had to buy more tiles, because he was not sure of what he wanted and when he finally decided, he had to get more tiles. He claims that his kitchen ceiling was damaged. There was a small area in the ceiling that was affected due to the fact that the shower drain was not to code. We had to open the ceiling to install the new plumbing. This is a common practice when second floor bathrooms are remodeled. Not only, did we repair the small area, we painted the whole ceiling for him at no charge. The bedroom wall that was damaged was a small area, again, due to nail pops, which are common. It was repaired and painted at no charge. THERE WAS NO STRUCTURAL OR WATER DAMAGE; THIS MAN DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. Yes, additional work was done, but it was not frivolous! The frivolous work that he is referring to was a rotting floor that we had to replace, crooked beams inside the walls and a vanity that he purchased without consulting us regarding size; not to mentioned the fact that we also insulated his bathroom window at no charge. We were under the gun for a last minute deadline that he gave us, so we had to move the cold water line to accommodate the vanity, so they would have full use of the sink. The toilet flange was rotted and needed to be replaced. The member, again, bought a shower diverter without consulting us and it was the wrong type. He purchased the diverter at a local store where the sales person told him he could use the diverter he chose. Unfortunately, the sales person sold him a diverter that was not to code (did not have shut offs) and the plumber could not use it. Therefore, the plumber installed his diverter which was to code. Most of the additional charges were due to the fact that the member purchased items without consulting us, which resulted in additional work. If he had consulted us, most of these additional charges would have never been necessary. If we had not addressed these hidden contingencies, we would not have been doing our job. We stand behind our work and our testimonials on our website confirm this. In conclusion, the member got the bathroom he wanted at a much lesser price, because he never paid us the final payment which included the "NOT SO FRIVOLOUS" work. Anyone we have ever worked for has asked us to return to do additional work, because they were so pleased with our workmanship, cleanliness, attention to detail and our willingness to go above and beyond.
