Repairman did arrive for review of job on time but down hill from there. Waited 3 weeks after initial visit and called back and was told that they wouldn't be able to handle the drywall ceiling job because it was too specialized of a job, but they would be able to do the repair of boards on the porch. Was told I would get a call back in a day or two with estimate for porch repair. Now, 2 weeks later and no call I have officially given up on this business. I've lost a month and a half and have to start my search over again. I'm very happy for others who have had a good experience, I'm sorry I can't say the same. This is not professional service and not how to run a business.

It went great. We're very happy with the quality of the work (and the related cleanup). Robert is very professional, but also very pleasant and easy to have working in your home. We will definitely work with him again. Overall quality of work was A+.

From the moment I contacted Robert at BND, he was eager, professional, and responsive. My initial contact with him was in mid-August. He came within a couple of days to estimate the work I needed done, and completed the work in 5 calendar days over the next two weeks. I was overall, very impressed with the timeliness and quality of the work as well as his work ethic. He was truly a one-man show. He did all of the work himself and was fast and efficient. I was home during most of the work and don?t think I saw him take a break or stop until he completed the work for the day, and he was willing to start early and finish late if I wanted him to?.truly a hard-worker. He was quick to point out the poor craftsmanship in previous work that had been done, and took the extra steps to correct anything he could within reason without charging anything additional. I had to replace some locks, and he took a few minutes to show me how to take them apart, which saved me from having to pay a locksmith to make a visit. He removed existing carpet in two rooms and on the staircase and replaced them with wood floors. He was flexible in letting me choose and pick the flooring, and I was able to pick up the materials myself which saved some additional labor costs. At the last minute, I realized the flooring that I chose for the landing on the staircase did not match the existing wood, and I was able to run out that day and pick up an alternative. He kept working during this, and we lost no time. I also had to fix a section of a wood floor that was damaged and had been installed several years ago, but did not have any of the original flooring. He had the idea to take flooring from the closet to replace the damaged spot and put alternate flooring in the closet?brilliant! My only constructive criticism for Robert would be to get his estimation process a little more defined, and to improve communication. He should adopt a clear time and materials cost model, so that there is a clear distinction. Because time and materials were clumped together for part of the work, and because I paid for some of the materials and picked them up, it was hard to distinguish overall, what I paid for materials and what I paid for labor. Because Robert is so busy, it was sometimes hard to reach him and/or get a response from him. I would suggest when contracting him, that you discuss how and when best to contact him. However, that said, I am happy with the quality and timeliness of the work that was done and have no complaints! I will be contracting Robert again in the future, and highly recommend BND Distinctive Improvements to any homeowner!

He power washed the side of our house, fixed a couple of downspouts, and power washed the cement around our pool. He also put in some bathroom fixtures and a vanity. He did a really good job.

I had to call him couple of times to get to my place to check out what needs to be done. Finally he came and checked out the job and promised to call me back with estimates. DISAPPEARED!!!!! I called him few times but no response.

We had an extremely tight deadline to get the wood floor replaced by our front door. I contacted Robert and he came out the following day to assess the job and provide an estimate. He quoted a very fair price and we agreed upon a timeframe for completion of the work. Robert ordered the materials and performed the work as promised. The quality of the work was exceptional. The work was done efficiently and the job site was left spotless. For every meeting Robert was always punctual. Would definitely recommend.....

Robert is very professional. He did a beautiful job. And two years later, I am very happy with the work. The faucet looks very nice and there are no drips or any other problems. He is however very busy and it is difficult to get him for smaller jobs immediately.

He was the best handyman in existence. He is totally professional and solves all problems. I like that he gives estimates beforehand and when he is done that is what you pay. Previously he designed new tools. He knows how to approach everything.

It is phenomenal, he is meticulous and I couldn't find a better worker.

He was very busy so it was hard for him to get to my hosue for this VERY small job. Nevertheless, he squeezed me in and did a good job and charged a fair price. I will use his services again.

Fantastic as always. All items completed and looking terrific. He always cleans up everything before he leaves. He's coming back in a few weeks to do some more projects!

Had them quote painting/replacing interior doors and hardware. Fair quote but ultimately we did not use them. Chose to do the work ourselves, since the doors were all irregular sizes and would require all custom cut doors. We chose to paint the doors and replace the hardware ourselves.

Robert did an excellent job of retrofitting the new doors . He responded quickly to my phone call, gave me an estimate in short order and arrived promply at our mutually agreed upon date, even though a snow storm was imminent. He was very professional from start to finish( even sanding doors under the portico in the snow and bringing his own vacuum to clean up). I am sure that I will use him again in the future.

We decided to contact BND based upon favorable reviews. We needed someone to install hardwood flooring which we had purchased for a 200 foot square room in our home that we use as an office, BND returned our call promptly. The price quoted seemed a little high but they were available to do the job within a week's time. BND came to inspect the room over the Holiday weekend and began work about noon on the Holiday Monday. The installer was very meticulous in his work and completed the job in just over a day's time. We are very satisfied with the quality of the installation.

They met my schedule and were great. I think their price was a lot more than two other competitors.

Robert is extremely busy and it is hard to get on his works schedule...after that there are no problems. This is the second time he has done work for us.

I called BND after I read all the good reviews. Robert the owner got back to me the next day and came over to give us an estimate within a few days. We needed to remove existing kitchen backsplash tile and install new. Robert measured the kitchen and gave an estimate by phone of cost and how long the job would take. He is busy, but gave us a job date about two weeks afterward. He provided me with the total area of tile for ordering purposes. Hurricane Sandy came and he was able to fit us in the following week. Our electric had been back on for a few days but on the morning he was to come out the electric was off and on again. Robert showed up with a generator, just in case, and stayed late (7:30 pm) to keep the job at two days. He cleaned up after himself and took trash with him. He is punctual, a hard worker and the job is beautiful.

Finding a home improvements contractor is like finding a mechanic - need someone trustworthy!! Angie list has been great. I found BND through Angie's list and Robert himself came out to solve the problem. I was worried there would be a large cut out in the walls but Robert knew exactly where the disconnection behind the walls were. He was responsive and made time in his busy schedule to come our and do the work. Definitely a trusted person i will use in the future.

Everything went fine. He was very helpful. He came within a week and fixed the problem. My overall experience with him was excellent.

I had hoped this company would perform my cleaning, but I have to keep looking.

I don't know if I can say anything about Robert that hasn't already been said by previous reviewers, but I will try. He is honest, hardworking, and a great person. He saved me quite a bit of money on my job by sending me to Home Depot to get the doors rather than go through a lumber yard. He worked tirelessly - 11 and 12 hour days - cutting and sanding the doors so they would fit in my 110 year old door frames (nearly an impossible task). Somehow, he got everything to fit perfectly and look great. I am pleased beyond the look of the doors however. What I am really happy about is that I now know who to call in the future to get a fair price and top craftsmanship on work throughout the house.

My gutters were very clogged and my roof full of moss. After five hours the gutters and roof were clean, house and patio were spotless. Not a leaf or any gunk left. This was a great experience.

Price provided (about $9,000) was nearly double that provided by another contractor. The price for crown molding and replacing base and shoe molding: $5,480.00. The price for painting: $3,640 Other estimate provided by another very highly rated Angie's list contractor. The other estimate also included additional items (molding around doors, Replace light fixture with recessed light and some other misc items). The other estimate however did not include replacing base molding though. This was Byrne's idea. After discussing price with family and friends the conclusion was it was too high. I was also a bit troubled by the speech I got before Byrne gave me the estimate - which he did right on the spot. He told me about a couple who were expecting to have a kitchen remodel done for a ridiculously small budget, and how at first they were reluctant to share with him their budget. He also said "now for the sticker price shock" or something like that before he handed me the estimate which he placed in a green folder. This felt condescending and manipulative to me and for this reason too I was reluctant to hire him. My feeling was that a goal of Bryne's was to increase the price (e.g. suggest base molding replacement), while the other contractor was working with me to save money. Now I can't hold this against Bryne as he is running a business after all. But it did of course factor into my decision not to use him. Also the other contractor said it would be easier/cheaper to replace the shoe molding than to paint it.

Overall I would recommend him for future services.
