Pat Campomizzi Plumbing & Heating

Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, Water Heaters,

About us

I chose to be a plumber when I graduated from grammar school in 1982. I attended Passaic County Technical & Vocational H.S. & graduated at the top of my plumbing class in 1986. I worked for a plumbing contractor for five years. I passed the NJ State Plumbing License exam in 1992 and started my own business. I believe if you want something done right you do it yourself. I will come to your home clean & shaven. I will remove my shoes if you desire. I will take the time to do the job right & I will leave your home as I found it. For 15 years I did plumbing & heating in new custom homes, some as large as 28,000 square feet, I design and install entire plumbing & heating systems. I have been married for 25 years and I have three children. I know times are tough, so I offer you my years of experience for a fair price.

Pat converted our heat from Oil to Gas. He took care of having someone remove our oil tank and getting the permits. He was very friendly and priced reasonably. He took his time in order to do everything just right. He went the extra mile in adding parts that would make it easy for cleaning and manually adding water if ever needed. He did not mind when we asked questions as to why he did things in a certain way. In all, he did an excellent job and explained everything to us. We intend to use his services again to install a half bath and to redo our current bathroom. Two thumbs up for Pat.

I took several estimates and Pat's was very competitive. He was very professional and courteous when he came to the house for the estimate.I suggested different boiler and he quickly followed up with a revised estimate at a fair price. He always promptly returned all follow-up calls. The work was completed in all respects as promised and he was extremely careful and clean. The job was messy but he did all cleanup - no further cleanup required by me. He arranged for town inspection and all was good. The system is working fine.

It was a quality job. Pat made it clear that he wanted us to be happy with the result, and since the work took several days to complete, he was careful to clean up and put away materials and tools out of the way each day. He and his crew were easy to work with and we were extremely happy with the whole process and the result. He cares about his work and took care to get everything right and working properly. Would highly recommend him to anyone and would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: We replaced the baseboard heaters throughout our 10 room home. The heaters were functional but were several years old and were showing wear and rust. Pat made suggestions about options for type of baseboard covers we could consider, spent extra time costing out all of the alternatives for us, and then performed the work for the option we chose, even finishing ahead of schedule.

I now know why he was given the Super Service Award and am happy to say as a new home owner I found my plumber.
Description of Work: I needed to find a plumber to install an external gas line. Pat was very professional and showed up on time. I had an existing propane grill and had to convert to natural gas because of Condo Association requirements. He offered to install the converter kit for our existing grill but Weber does not offer them anymore. He was very sympathetic and worked with us to save us as much cost as he could. I was required to get a permit and he helped me fill it out without charging me for his time. I now know why he was given the Super Service Award and am happy to say as a new home owner I found my plumber.

Excellent from beginning to end. He assembled the new grill, screwed the grill cabinet to our deck and installed a new shut off for the house gas in the grill cabinet. He was responsive to my wife's concerns over animals accessing the grill cabinet through holes in the back and sealed them with galvanized sheet metal. He also removed the old grill to the curb and cleaned up the work area before departing. Over all, he was professional, efficient, competent and a genuinely nice person to work with. He liked our new grill so much, that he said he would like to buy one for himself. We will definitely call Pat again for our plumbing needs.
Description of Work: We hired Pat to disconnect and disassemble our old BBQ gas grill, assemble and install our new grill, connecting it to our house gas. Pat arrived on time and immediately set to work assembling our new grill, then disconnected and disassembled our old grill, installed the new grill and removed our old one, completing the whole job in about 5 hours, just in time to fire up our new grill for a successful lunch test run. He also installed a gas shut off valve on the deck and installed galvanized sheet metal to block holes in the grill cabinet so creatures could not access or set up home in our new grill. Pat is experienced, competent and professional and a pleasure to work with. His hourly rate ($60.) is reasonable and significantly less than what our prior plumber charged us. We enthusiastically recommend Pat and plan to call him for any plumbing work we need done in the future.

Couldn't be more pleased. Pat told me when he could do the job, which was significantly sooner than a couple of other outfits I contacted. (I wasn't surprised since he had come to the house once before on the same say I called in winter when my boiler wasn't working.) He arrived on time to lay gas pipe and connect it to two new meters. (He left plenty of T's for future hookups to dishwashers, dryers, etc.) He also hooked up two new hot water heaters and replaced worn out copper pipes. The water heaters vent to the outside wall of the garage, and the vents are hardly noticeable. When the electrician came later in the week, he commented on the high quality of Pat's work. Great plumber, great price, great work. I will definitely call Pat again when it's time to take care of the old boiler later this summer.
Description of Work: I called Pat to install new hot water heaters for my two family house. The basement had flooded during irene, and the old oil-fired boiler was shot. Pat moved them to the garage and laid all the necessary pipe to convert from oil to gas. He also replaced worn out copper pipe with freeze-proof plastic.

We called Pat to replace our aging water heater which had started leaking and had stopped working. He came on Friday afternoon, May 11, 2012 to see what the problem was while I was at work and my wife was at home. As it turns out, the pilot light just went out and he re-lit it. After his visit, he called me to tell me what he did and although I offered to pay for his visit, he did not charge us! At that time, I asked him to replace the unit. He gave us three price-range options to pick from, which I appreciated, and he came on the morning of Monday May 14 to do the installation. Pat is a one-man company, but got the job done within a reasonable time span of a couple of hours, and did so in a professional manner. Pat struck us as a pleasant, considerate, and polite person. He called us back in a timely manner when we left messages and he arrived on the job site when he said he would. He even remembered our names - very refreshing in this age of impersonal and computerized customer service. We highly recommend him and would definitely call on him again!
Description of Work: Pat came to check out why our water heater (A.O. Smith, 10+ years old) had stopped producing hot water. At a later date, he came to replace the unit. (A.O. Smith, 10-year warranty)

I live in an older house (1929) and have a steam heat system. A few of my radiators starting leaking by the shutoff valves. Last time I had an issue like this, the plumber I had come replaced the entire valve and it wasn't cheap. This time, I found Pat on Angie's List. Right away, through speaking to him on the phone, it was like talking to your friend who wanted to help you fix your problem. He gave me a lot of background on regulating the system to enable the same temperature in each room. He came a few minutes early and asked politely if he should remove his shoes. When I told him not to bother, he proceeded to wipe them down thoroughly. We went to each radiator with a leaky valve and turned the system on and off to ensure he figured out where the leak was coming from. He was able to either tighten some nuts or take it apart and replace worn out O rings. Didn't have to replace one valve and I wondered whether the last plumber I had gave me a fair shake or if it was just worn out O rings. When all was finished, we fired up the system to ensure nothing was leaking. Regarding and quot;equalizing/balancingand quot; the system, he gave me a nice chart and showed me how to replace steam valves on the radiators so I could do it myself. He was completely honest as opposed to making an extra few dollars on me to replace them for me. He explained how we know our house best, so we are better off replacing the valves based on which rooms were hottest or coldest and what to change the valves too. Overall, a great experience and I was shocked he only charged $60 for his hour of work. I felt bad in a way. I had paid over double that last time to have one radiator fixed. I would completely recommend Pat to anyone who needs a plumber or help with their home heating systems. While you never wish bad things on your home to have to hire a plumber, I am happy to know Pat is just a phone call away.

Pat Campomizzi was terrific. His prices are excellent. The second time he came I paid him another $100 because it was a separate job from replacing the furnace. So in total, I spent about $4300 with him for both services which includes the cost of the furnace. Replacing a furnace can be a big mess but instead, he covered everything from my furnace room to my steps and from my basement all the way through the garage. He cleaned up really great. He even cleaned up the little bits and pieces that fell off while he was working. He and his helper were just unbelievably great. My overall experience with him was superior. It was like a miracle. It is very hard these days to find a provider of his caliber. I had a bad experience with another plumber that I was using for twenty year so that was shocking and I knew that I had to find a new plumber. However, Pat Campomizzi surpassed any expectations anyone could ever have. On top of that, he is a very nice young man who is probably in his forties.
Description of Work: I used Pat Campomizzi Plumbing & Heating in December to replace a furnace. He came back two days after that to do little things like replacing the shower head, fixing the drip in the sink, and fixing a part in our bathtub.

I interviewed 3 different companies for this oil to gas conversion with tank removal. I liked Pat's demeanor and his pricing was in line with the other 2 estimates. I liked his plan for the conversion vs. the other 2 bids (i.e. boiler selection). Pat did a terrific job converting my heating from an oil boiler to a gas boiler. He also hired a tank removal company to remove an underground oil tank. Pat met the company and watched over the tank removal operation. The tank removal company did a great job. The conversion and tank removal job passed all inspections. Pat repaired an in-ground sprinkler line which was damaged in the digging process for no charge. Pat was excellent in presenting and explaining our options. He was courteous, on time, and was meticulous in keeping the work area protected and clean up after the job was completed. Pat said that he was available should there be any issues or questions after the job was completed. I highly recommend Pat and intend to use him again should I have any plumbing issues.

He called to say he'd be a little late due to the job he had been working on and I was concerned that he'd be unreliable. However, when he came, he got right to work. He estimated it would take 4 hours and it almost did. He came back the next day to fix my faucets because the sink is unusual and hard to fix. He cleaned up and did all the work extremely well.
Description of Work: Redirected sump pump drain from main sewer to outside directly in order to conform to town code, and fixed leaking faucets. He was neat, professional and economical. Another local plumber quoted a price twice as high and said he have to replace the faucets. Pat removed the faucets and cleaned them. (they do not have washers.) At the end of the work I asked him to change the direction of the drain pipe and he readily agreed without any attitude. I wish I had found this guy years ago.

Contacted Pat following positive reviews on Angie's List. He came out the next day - Friday - and evaluated the problem and provided us with a fair quote for the replacement of the heating system. He ordered the new system and it will installed on Monday. Pat came promptly in the morning and worked throughout the day to insure this would be a single day installation. He bled all the radiators and before leaving made certain that the house was comfortable and all was working properly.

I hired Pat after reading recommendations here on Angie's List. His price was very fair and I appreciated the fact that I would be getting a Master Plumber to do my work. I was not sure this would be the case with other larger plumbing companies I contacted. Pat and his assistant took their time doing the job. There was no rushing to get it done and move on to the next job. They worked at my house for 5 days. This was a very time consuming job - I needed to have a new and quot;mono-flowand quot; loop plumbed in and reconnected to the radiators in each apartment. I also needed to have the hot water pipes split and reconnected between the first and second floor apartments. Pat was very meticulous to make sure everything was done properly. I would hire Pat in a heartbeat for any plumbing job I have in the future. He was always on time, cleaned up after he was done and always made sure to respect our living space when he needed to do any work that was not in the basement. He even removed his shoes when coming into our living space.
Description of Work: I lost my oil heat and water heating systems to Hurricane Irene. I hired Pat to come and update my system from oil to gas and split the utilities in my 2-family house. He installed 2 new Slant Fin boilers and 2 new AO Smith water heaters. In addition to this, Pat also built a concrete pad for the new water heaters and did a couple other minor plumbing repairs during his work at my house.

I had read about a new style hot water heater called flat panel radiator, popular in Europe, but not yet popular here. Pat researched it and came up with a manufacturer here and the best model. He gave me details on everything that would be included with brands and model numbers ahead of time. It was a particularly busy time for Pat after Hurricane Irene and with heating season coming. But Pat fit my job into his schedule. After Pat came for the estimate the contractor I had (who I had found on Angie's list and selected for his great ratings) on site doing other work I needed remarked that he thought Pat was very knowledgeable. As the contractor kept working there he had a chance to observe Pat's work. He was so impressed with Pat's work he was asking Pat if he could work with him in the future. Pat was very easy to work with as well. And everything done was done perfectly.

I was very pleased with the overall installation of my gas fired boiler.
Description of Work: I was very pleased with the work performed by Pat Campomizzi. Pat replaced my gas fired boiler. Pat was very perfessional with all aspects of the installation including the cost estimate, punctionality, speed of installation, cleanliness and also took time to explain the details of the installation. I was also pleased that Pat performed all the work himself. Pat also was the only plumber that came up with a unique solution for a secondary water loop being fed off the main boiler. My previous boiler shared the same water source with the secondary loop, which would cause the water pumb to fail becasue of rust and dirt in the primary loop. Pat installed a boiler with a isolated secondary water loop.
