Downes Tree Service does not mess around. They show up on time. Their written estimate is good. Their employees are pleasant to deal with. Pancho and his team of workers showed up when they said they would. They very carefully maneuvered the cherry picker around my other trees. They asked my opinion on numerous occasions so that the work provided was exactly what I wanted. They worked through their lunch hour to get the job done and cleaned up all the mess.

All aspects of Downes Tree Service went exceptionally well. I had two large Yellow River Birch Trees and one Cherry Blossom tree that needed trimming. They initially sent someone out to do an estimate. They were very knowledgeable, professional and courteous and were able to answer all my questions regarding proper care of my trees and shrubs. This company actually has certified Arborists on their staff, and I felt very confident that they would do a very good job. They came back on August 1, 2016 to do the actual trimming. They had all the correct and necessary equipment to do the job correctly and efficiently. Again, the crew doing the actual work was very professional, courteous and friendly. They consulted with me during the trimming process to assure that I was satisfied with the work being done. I was very pleased with the results! I have even received compliments regarding their work from neighbors and my landscaper! I definitely intend to use Downes Tree Service for my future trimming needs!

Mike, the expert who initially came to my house, was very informative and professional. Mark and team who came to handle the tree arrived on time and began work promptly. I'd had another tree company service my property months before and was bothered by their haphazardness around my property and that of my neighbor's. Mark's team was nothing like them. They made sure every cut branch made it's way down into a neat pile and then removed every piece of debris they'd created. I felt much better about their process. They weren't cheap but it their level of service was well worth the cost. I definitely plan to use them again.

They dropped the mulch in the driveway. I purchased it and had them deliver it two weeks later. I didn't pay more than the deal. The quality of the mulch had a lot of dirt in it and it didn't have a lot of wood. It had a lot of fillers and it really got really moldy. When we laid it down, it grew fungus and molds all over it and it was not great. They're a good company and we know them. They're local. Maybe the price dictated the lower quality of mulch. We never called to complain but it wasn't great. The price was a great deal. The service was fine. They delivered and came when they're supposed to.

They were excellent from start to finish. The gentleman who came to give the estimate was right on time and very knowledgable about trees, etc. This is a top notch very professional company. They came out first day to remove the tree down to the stump. A couple days later, the stump grinding crew ground everything down and leveled off the debris and left everything very neat and clean. I am super satisfied with their work all around. Their prices are extremely fair for the level if service you get, highly recommend!!!!

I called Downes Tree Service on November 11th, 2015. Tom from Downes Tree Service came to survey the work I needed the very next day at 10:00 AM. After we walked out the job together he prepared a proposal for me. As I was reviewing the proposal I mentioned to Tom that I found DOWNES TREE SERVICE using Angie's List. Immediately Tom informs me that he will have to re-do the proposal since Angie's List clients get a 5% discount. He quickly printed up a new Proposal for 1,423.00 (included the 5% discount) I felt the price he proposed was very fair and signed the work order right away. No deposit was required and the 5% discount was a nice surprise. Note: I hate removing any tree and try to save any tree before making the decision to remove. Cutting down a tree is such a loss. You lose the shade provided by the tree plus the overall health trees provide to our planet can NOT be over stated. Too many trees have been cut down for nothing more than greed already. Each tree felled is another reminder that we are screwing up or planet and it makes me sick. (readers, could not help that little rant... mea culpa) A 5 man crew arrived on the job on November 20, 2015. I stayed outside and watched them remove these three trees that were between the sidewalk and street. I photographed much of the work using a stop action application on my iphone and it's amazing to watch as these highly skilled men remove 3 trees and crown/prune a huge Pin Oak Tree in my back yard. This Pin Oak tree was hanging over my neighbors home and my home. It also sits right next to a white 6 foot tall fence. They did all this work without damaging the fence or making even the slightest mark on either home or fence. When they were finished removing the 3 trees in the front of the house and pruning the Oak tree in the back yard they cleaned every sign that this work had been done. Every branch, leaf and wood chip was cleaned up and my property was left in perfect condition. About 1 week after the tree removal (I can not give an actual date because I was out of town for that week after Thanksgiving) the 2nd crew came to grind the stumps. I was told when the survey was done that a 2nd crew would come (totally different personnel) and remove the stumps from the 3 trees in the front yard. As I stated I was out of town but when I returned on December 6th, 2015 the 3 stumps were gone and the hole left by the stumps and roots had been back-filled and raked out nicely, Again a perfect job performed by totally different people from Downes Tree Service. Any work of this nature that comes up in the future will be handled with one phone call to Downes Tree Service . I would recommend them to any and all that need a this type of work done. These guys are professional and highly skilled. They get the job done safely, with zero damage. I am hopeful that this work to our Pin Oak tree in the back yard will keep this tree healthy and intact in the upcoming winter months and years to come.

Downes is amazing service. They did a perfect job on this intricate removal. I have never forgotten that they came in $3000 less than a local competitor who was clearly trying to take advantage of the post-Sandy situation. Downes has earned my loyalty, and we plan to have them do some work at our current home in our backyard. Also, I called them yesterday because we had a tree fall in our front yard after the storm Thursday night. Not only were they there in under an hour, but I got great advice (again) from Tom who informed me that it was actually a town tree. Tom cleared the sidewalk (above and beyond), and we indeed confirmed with the town that they would take care of the tree. My thought is "why call anyone else?" Thank you Tom and the team at Downes! I was not extremely happy with it. They said they were going to show up in the morning and they forgot about the work so they ended up not showing up so I had to call them. They ended up coming around the afternoon. They didn't show up when they were supposed to show up and I took a day off work. They were supposed to drop it off at 10 in the morning, I called them and ended up dropping it off at 3 in the afternoon. I guess there was a mix up or something

After purchasing the special for the dark premium mulch, I received a call from them the next day to schedule a delivery. They were able to the delivery 2 days later and everything was delivered on time. The process went smooth and the mulch was exactly what I needed.

First scheduled appointment: think we get a phone call 30 minutes prior to the appointment, telling us the guy who was supposed to see us had called in sick. No problem. It happens. Same person on the phone asked me if we still wanted someone to come out, and we say yes, sooner is better, later today or tomorrow best (I'd taken off work to handle a lot of moving-in-related housework and worker visits). Person on phone says ok, let me take a look at schedule and someone will call you back soon. At least a day goes by, but then someone does call and appointment #2 scheduled. Appointed day and time comes, and nothing. No visit, no call. I shouldn't have to chase after someone to give them my business. So, they're not getting mine, ever. Or anyone I know.
