See above I have been waiting more than a month since I submitted this review to hear back from Angies List. My Coupon Code is Design-243588-1. I requested a refund, and Fix it All said that they would recommend a refund. Will someone please get back to me? Thank You.
Description of Work: I made an appointment for 8/22 to have Fix it All come out to come up with a sketch for me. They called the day if the appointment to cancel. I told them I would be on vacation the following week, and asked when they could come this week. They selected today (9/5/12) at 6 P.M.. At 5:35 the phone rang and the owner said that he was running late and would need to reschedule. He asked if he could come tomorrow, I explained that I had moved a work meeting to tomorrow to accomodate my appointment with him tonight. He asked if he could come Friday night and I said no, that I think cancelling on me twice was enough to prompt me to request a refund. Her agreed and said that he would recommend the same thing. He was very nice, but this is no way to treat a customer.

After three attempts we finally got the right cabinets ordered. Once they began installing the cabinets it did not look like what he had drawn up for us. He had changed the plans without our consent. When I spoke to Mike, he did not like my input. The lights are not lined up right. Scraps of ceramic tile is still laying out on the lawn waiting to be installed. They have not yet returned any of my phone calls. Some of their tools still laying around our home.
Description of Work: This was a kitchen remodel. From the initial call, Mike and Rodney, came to take measurements. Mike promised to come back in a couple of days, after 3 days I called twice and got hold of Mike, Mike sounded irritated by my calling him.

They performed flawlessly from start to finish. My schedule is difficult and they fit me in.
Description of Work: As always I received several estimates and Fix it All beat all the other contractor's hands down. The professional that came to my house was named Jim. He was really experienced and talented at his craft. I had them finish some drywall and add crown moulding to my kitchen. It really looks great and they took the time to ensure the house did not get dusty from the work they did. When I look back at the previous contractor's I have had I wish I would have called Fix it All !!!

It went well. We still are in the process of deciding what we are going to do but we were very pleased with our experience with this company. They were punctual, thorough and we really liked the person, Robert, who came out to discuss a number of ideas for the kitchen; he was knowledgeable and professional. He told us he would take the ideas back to his company so he could follow up with some estimates and ideas within a week. We actually heard back from him within about 3 days. At this stage we are interested in going with Fit It All.

I did not respond or do a review in March. However, when I saw that they were offering the same coupon again, I felt obligated to warn others, before purchasing this coupon. One week became two days for me.
Description of Work: I requested an estimate to rebuild a porch roof on a Philadelphia row house. I had been told by another contractor that this was about a one week project. I was very excited when I saw the coupon for "one week" of contracting services for $1,499. That sounded like a very good price, but I wanted to get an estimate and speak to the contractor before purchasing the service. the first appointment was not kept by the contractor. When I called, I was told that the person doing the estimates had been in an accident and I would have to wait several weeks because he was the only one to do estimates. After several weeks, I contacted them again and someone (completely different) came out when I was not home. When I spoke to this person on the phone, I was told that my repairs would g beyond the amount of the coupon because..."one week" actually meant two workers at ten hours apiece for two days. i.e the coupon would only cover two days of contractor services or labor. When I reminded the estimator that the ad for the coupon says "one week", he told me that the wording was the fault of Angie's List.

Response from Tile Specialties Unlimited
Unfortunately, this customer wanted us to rebuild porch a that was falling off of a home. Our GC for a week deal includes 40 hours of labor, which is most often arranged for 2 men at 10 hours per day for two days. There is no discrepancy about being able to have 40 hours of labor. Whether we would have had one man working by himself for 40 hours, or whether we would have had two men for 10 hrs per day for two days, it was not possible to tear down and rebuild a porch within this time frame. We encourage clients to ask questions about any Angieslist Big Deals if they have concerns or questions before purchasing. It is our goal to make sure that every customer is extremely satisfied with our service and that there are no miscommunications or discrepancies.

I can not report on the work that Fix-it-all did. I received a call the day after I sent them an email and we discussed my location and the fact that I was within their coverage area. Nick said he would call back the next day to arrange a visit to look at the job to later work up an estimate. It has been over a week and I have not received a call back.I could have gotten the same service from anyone in the Yellow pages and didn't need to pay for Angie's List and take the time to read reviews.
Description of Work: I needed to have my porch roof repaired or replaced, brick work pointed, outside stucco repaired and a few other outside jobs. If that went well I had some inside work to have done also.

There was nothing wrong with the company or their service. I spoke with them today and they do not do the work that I need for my home. It isn’t listed on the coupon that they don’t do masonry, but they told me they can’t do it. I have no complaints about this company or the gentleman who came to estimate the job. He is fantastic and friendly/personable. My only suggestion would be to make the Big Deal description a little more clear. The deal was for 40 hours of work, which meant that 2 people would be in my home for 2 days for 10 hours. They were accommodating to my schedule, and I really appreciated that.
Description of Work: I had purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this company and they came out to estimate the work. We ultimately decided that the coupon did not cover the work that I need.

Two weeks ago we scheduled them to come out and give an estimate. Today an hour and a half before they were to come they called and said they had to reschedule because the worker is sick. They said they would come out 3 weeks from now. All they had to do is call a day before. My wife took off work for them as well.

I had called to confirm my appointment for an estimate earlier in the day. The booking agent confirmed my appointment. But when the appointment time frame of two hours came and gone, there was no show and no call. I had to call to find out why the appointment was not kept. I waited for another 30 minutes before a phone call was returned was an update of "family emergency." I then proceeded to reschedule but was told that an appointment will not be available until 12 days later. UNBELIEVABLE! I got stood up, they didn't even have the professionalism to give me a call to let me know that they will not be coming and on top of that, they can't even make an accomadation to try to fit me in as soon as possible?! "F" for professionalism, "F" punctionality., and "F" for customer service.

I got through the design phase and then I went to get some quotes on cabinets and tiles and I have yet to get a response. I thought I was making an appointment to get someone to come out after the design phase but they were not clear who I was going to be contacting to get more information about the cabinets. I did call Angie's List once and they intervened and they were able to help but Fix It All never apologized for the miscommunication. This happened towards the end of May. I have not heard from anyone regarding the cabinets, tiles or design since I went to the cabinet company which was around mid June. I have tried emailing them and just had no response. They have also not been very clear about what is covered and it has been hard to schedule with them as well. I am not very confident in the process and it is just not working out.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal with them for kitchen remodel including a kitchen design & granite countertops.
I was very impressed with how quickly they got back to me and started work, it was within a few days of approving the final layout. We will definitely be using them again for future projects, complete professionals and cleaned up nicely afterwards, you couldn?t even tell they were there! My next door neighbor does home repair work as well and he said the quality they did was excellent, which put my mind at ease. Thanks!
Description of Work: Our kitchen linoleum was put in when we bought our house over 20 years ago. The white and blue shade of it turned to a greenish blur and was peeling upwards by our sliding glass door. You could see the wood underneath and we were getting embarrassed to have people see it. They did a great job of coming in and tearing it up immediately! We couldn’t have been happier to get that old floor gone, and the completion of our new wood floor looks phenomenal! The cabinets and granite look really good too! They got the new floor down as quick as they ripped up the old one and had the whole kitchen done in a little over a week. It’s beautiful now, and our little one loves sliding across the floor in his socks!

It was a Big Deal that I purchased. It was $1,500 for 40 hours of a contractor. The guy came out immediately to do a site visit of what I needed done. I told him to give me some notice and I would pick up all the supplies and we would be good. He called on a Monday afternoon and said that they would be here on a Wednesday. I called them back on Tuesday and said that he didn't give me enough notice and I hadn't bought the supplies and I was out of state so we needed to reschedule. Weeks went by and I didn't hear anything so I called them back. They said they would schedule and they were supposed to come on a Thursday. I called and told them where all the supplies were and then I never heard from them again. It wasn't a good experience but it could have just been an anomaly and maybe it fell through the cracks. I requested a refund and it has been approved.

I will never hire this company again. They sent someone to do the estimate, who was smart and charming and provided -- after some prodding -- an estimate of what could be done for the $1500/40hr coupon, and what might take more time. They then sent a sub-contractor, who, from the moment he walked in the door, complained about how he hates these "40 hour contracts", and tried to make it my problem that he was unhappy. He said the room could never be "paint-ready" in 40 hours, and yet he arrived on a Tuesday, and by Thursday, almost none of the work that had been included in the $1500 estimate was done -- but he asked me to call the company and tell them the work was done -- I assume so he could get paid -- and that he would come back the following week to finish it. I refused, and he came back on Friday and "finished" the work. It was so sloppy and unprofessional, I could hardly believe what I saw when I got home from work that night -- spackling everywhere, on my hardwood floor, with footprints in it, no less.Yes, I could have demanded that they send someone else and finish the job properly, but frankly, after 3 days of this experience, all I wanted was for this jerk to be gone.
Description of Work: Finishing a dining room; soffit between the kitchen and the dining room; hiding wiring; fixing the floor at the landing at the top of the stairs coming into the dining room, etc. There was also supposed to be a small, glass brick wall put up between the dining room and kitchen, to "hide" the refrigerator.
When Nick first came to our home for the estimate, I could tell that he had a vision for our home. He walked us through the entire process from start to finish and he was a pleasure to work with. Nick provided us with computer sketches of what our kitchen would look like and we decided on a design and gave him the go ahead! When the day came for work to start, we met the team and they were very knowledgeable and friendly. I have never had a contractor leave the house so clean when they left everyday!!! I was pleasantly surprised with how much they respected my home as I was still living in it for a good portion of the project. From start to finish, the whole project took five weeks which is great... just in time for the summer! Overall, I could not have been more happy with Fix it All and the work that they did. Our siding and the deck makes the house look brand new! And the kitchen is absolutely beautiful. Excellent work! Thanks Fix it All!
Description of Work: Fix it All remodeled our house from top to bottom!First we had our deck redone. Next they gave us complete kitchen overhaul! We had tile put in, new walls put in to make the kitchen flow better, and had some new closets put in for some much needed space. And then Fix it All got rid of our old siding and re-sided our whole house to make it look like a new home inside and out!

The repair went very well. I was first given a detailed estimate of not only the labor, but also which materials would be required. The crew was punctual and professional. The crew that worked on my house did a very good job. They completed the work more quickly than I expected, and left no debris from the repair.

Very well, they were in and out and my kitchen looks simply amazing. I had bad experiences with contractors in the past and worried about them taking forever to finish, running away with my money and just doing shoddy work. Robert assured me that I wouldn't have to worry about any of that, he was right! It was the best experience i've ever had with a contractor hands down. I liked all of the guys. Everyone was presentable and friendly. I was really happy with the fact that I could give them a key and not have to worry because Robert let me know that every single guy who works for them is background checked. They did a great job.
I called them up and made a appointment. Fred came out and measured and Talked about all the different stuff they use, like sinks and cabinets and everything and had me pick out what I wanted. He got back to me with an estimate way faster than all the other people I called and he seemed the most professional. I signed the contract and got a 3D design of the kitchen and finalized everything. It took almost 3 weeks to get the cabinets made but it was well worth the wait; they look and feel amazing. The tile work was done by true masters. The whole kitchen was done in less than 2 weeks from the start of construction. They were fast, clean and friendly. I will definitely be working with Fred and the whole crew again within a few weeks to get my upstairs bathroom refinished.

Initally they never called me back when i was contemplating buying the deal. i decided to call back before the deal expired and got a response. They were very apologetic so i purchased it. However, there was a delay between my initial consult and the measuring. then Mike came out on time and we went through everything. When he came back out with another man (forget his name - not John nor Rodney) they seemed upset that there was no parking. I was annoyed because i checked - before even purchasing the deal - if they woudl do business in center city. That's the cost of doing business in the city - either pay the meters or get a contractor's permit. it was very bad form to complain to me the customer about parking. that was in early february. at that time, I was assured by Mike that it could be done by 3/31 when i was leaving the country. However, weeks went by before they started the work even though I'd immediately gone to the tile and granite place and picked everything out. It took about a week for them to call me after that. I had to call the main office and complain. That was when i was told that there was no way 1) they would be able to start by mid March and 2) it would be done within a week and they don't know why i was told that. Finally they came to to strip the kitchen on march24th! by the way i purchased the deal in January!!!The excuse was that they were so backed up with the large response from the angieslist deals. I really didn't care about that but tried to remain patient. While Rodney showed up on time on the 24th, and i gave him a key so they can lock up when i had to go to work during the project. I'd expected him to come on Monday. I called & texted Rodney to no avail. Finally he calls me at 5pm to say he never got in because they'd lost the keys. Yet they should have called me that morning. I got Mike on the phone and he said John would now be doing my project. I was livid and was worried where my keys were. So Mike came with John the next day and changed my locks. While john started on the 27th, obviously my project wasn't going to be done by the 31st as promised. he refused to work weeknds, he was by himself and had to feed the meter throughout the day so he worked from 8:30 to 2pm. Needless to say he was polite but extremely slow - he ended up not even working every weekday because he was often times pulled off the project by 11am some days. Not really wanting to, i gave them a guest alarm code so john could finish up while I was away. I came back on the 4/7 and barely anything was done. he said he had worked another project while I was gone and only got to my house 2 days. Then for the next month he would be here but did things like: 1) forget to plug my wireless connection back in before leaving (and i couldn't go in kitchen because tiles setting); 2) forget to plug my fridge back in (luckily i noticed w/i 10 minutes if him leaving but couldn't pull the fridge out bcz he'd wedged it in with my flooring. he told me to remove the wedge but never offer to come back!!!); 3) hooked up the dishwasher even though it was not attached to the granite and was wobbly (and BTW he never told me it wasn't connected, i figured it out and complained. he then blamed it on the granite folks. while they were responsible to doing that, i do not understand why he would hook up the DW and not know/realize that it was not secured); 4) forgot to remove the drain cap so my DW couldn't drain; 5) and told me to use the sink which when i did that night the water stopped coming out of the faucet and leaked all over my new floor! (luckily, he hadn't installed the cabinet board under the sink or it would've been ruined). He had a very bad attitude when he had to be called back because the tile wasn't sealed and he'd missed a lot of grouting, esp for the backsplash. He unprofessionally got into with the granite people who also had to come back to attach the DW bcz they had to disconnect it to attach. he was ranting about how late they were and he couldn't wait for them. i told them that they told me they'd be here by 10am. he said mike told him by 9am. i said Mike was wrong and he had to wait. they got here at around 9:45 and he was very angry. he hostilly told them that he hadn't brought tools to disconnect the DW that so the granite guy used mine. It was ridiculous. I literally had to call Mike to mediate. also, he initally he didn't put backsplash over the range even though that was discussed with Rodney. instead of removing the 1/2 pieces, he started from the line so now there's an obvious delineation between the backsplash tile and then it starts again. Mike came out on 5/7 and made John come back also to attach piece of wood John had just propped up and remove the DW cap (even though mike initally told me to call Maytag! While I was not very confident in John's installation of the DW, i called maytag. But I cancelled that service appointment once maytag informed me that it would not be covered if the DW was installed wrong. So Mike had John come back out). But again, his touch up paint was extremely sloppy and there are still some holes in backsplash. I recently noticed that the flap under the DW was also propped up and not properly attached. He put in 2 light switch covers but had bought the wrong one for the garbage disposal switch. instead of getting it, he left the wrong ones for me to exchange and i guess install. It's very wobbly and harder than i thought to line up the switch. Basically I just tired of them in my house and really didn't want to deal with any attitudes (complaining about meter, pointing the finger, etc.). I'm disappointed that i had to scrape tons of grout off of my new cabinets, still some holes in it, clean all the wood chips out of the cabinets and that there are chips in my new cabinets. instead of touching it up, he left the touch up for me to do, even after I'd pointed that out to Mike. When I showed John a broken piece of cabinet that I'd found in the back of my lazy suzanne, he threw it in the trash. When i was instaling the shelves, I was missing the pegs for the corner shelf. I told Mike and he said he'd order them. i suggested calling the cabinet place since I really didn't want to wait anymore. he said they did have them and that i could go get them! John had even left the tile sealant for me to do, but Mike made him do it. At first, i would have recommended them but John's work was not very professional he seemed to do the bare minimum and I hated having to tell him what to do when it seemed obvious and I don't understand how he could say things were finished when he didn't check his work and had no precision or artistry. he laid the porcelain floor nicely although I've since found some missing grout! I like Mike and thought he was friendly but i felt I was in the middle too much and that he should have more closely monitored John's work, especially since it was apparently the 1st time John had worked with them alone. I was also disappointed that i never got an itemized list of the work with pricing specified. So I really have no idea what precisely was the reason for the additional $2400.00. I am annoyed to even have to request this so I just paid it. I also am surprised that they didn't offer any consideration for the HUGE delay, the fact that i had to do a lot of the clean up work and I had to purchase my light fixtures. Or if they did, it's news to me since never got itemized bill. I would use them again but only if I got a team or someone else to work with John or insist on Mike coming out daily to supervise.
Description of Work: I bought the kitchen remodel for $9,999, which included removal of my cabinets, appliances, old flooring and then they installed new cabinets, tiled backsplash, porcelain flooring, granite countertop with new sink. The deal included installing 3 highhat lights with a dimmer. However, after meeting with Mike the 2nd time, he said he didn't remember where they would go but would do it if I wanted it and pointed out how it would include "ripping up my ceiling". Because I'd hope to get it done quickly (there was a huge delay between my purchase of the deal and them actually beginning the work), I said we could just replace the 2 ceiling light fixtures that were there. I had to purchase those lights myself. i do not believe that I received any money off for that and never got the dimmers. They also hooked up my appliances which were new. Ibelieve i had to pay extra for that too. I say I believe because i never got an itemized bill showing exactly for what the additional 2400.00 that I paid. They painted the walls but only touched up the ceiling around the new light (since he didn't align it with the old light fixture even though they were the same size.) They really shoud have just painted my ceiling since he got so much of the wall paint on the ceiling. very sloppy paint job. my old paint can still be seen on one part of my wall.

After about 2 years of extensive internet research, my wife and I chose Fix It All to do our complete Kitchen remodel. Initially, the company sent out an estimator named Mike. When Mike arrived we spoke about different plans and options for our kitchen. My wife had a very good idea of the particular style she was trying to capture, and Mike did an excellent job of implementing some of the design features in his 3-D rendering. Once the project started the contractors were very hard working and clean. In total, they spent 6 full days working on our kitchen. My biggest fear was that my home would be dirty and chaotic from having a full team of contractors working on our kitchen, but that was not the case! They kept our home very clean and everything was very organized, which I was very pleased with. Once they started my wife and I were very hands-off, which made the project much less stressful than I anticipated. They installed custom oak cabinetry, wood floors, granite counters and back splash, and stainless steel KitchenAid appliances. Everything was very high quality and the craftsmanship was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this company to my family and friends.

Overall, Rodney did a great job and we're happy with all the work completed. The only complaint I have is that we asked for some additional work to be scheduled and we haven't heard back yet.
Description of Work: We purchased a deal through Angie's List for $1,500 for 2 days of work. It took longer than anticipated to get them out to the house, but I'm sure it was because so many people were taking advantage of this great deal! Rodney did a lot of odd jobs we had on our list, plus found all sorts of improvements to make along the way. He also was able to fix a leak in our master shower, which had been a big problem. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and respectful of our home. We'll use Fix It All again.

Buyer beware. Thank God for Angie's List.
Description of Work: I got a big deal from them and it said a general contractor for a week but it was actually 2 contractors for two 10 hour days. The guys lost the measurements so my husband had to remeasure, they forgot what needed done, and lost their camera with pictures of what they were supposed to do. We had it scheduled for them to work Thursday and Friday and they called and asked to start Friday which didn't work. They wanted us to purchase the material and leave it in our home until they can get there to work on it which we couldn't do because our home is small and sheet rock can't just sit around in our way. The guy ended up calling and stating he couldn't make it out at all. They told us to email them with our schedule and so we emailed him and the guy we talked to didn't even work there anymore. So I called the office to speak to Mr. Fink and he never got back to me.
