Gary came in person on schedule to provide the estimate. Price was quite lower than other estimates I got for the same service. Crew arrived on schedule using the companies uniform and started working immediately. Covered the sides of the house with plastic slides to dispose debris. They scraped all the old shingles and under layers, replaced the old power vent with a ridge vent system, re-flashed the chimney, removed an old TV antenna from the previous owner, cleaned the gutters and repaired the facet. They were able to match the new shingles color exactly with the other, newer roof. Cleaned surroundings thoroughly after the job was done. From start to finish it took them about 7 hours. Final cost was right on the estimate, no additional fees or surprise costs. In summary, high quality work, attention to detail, professional execution and great price.

They came on the day they said they would and did the work very quickly and cleaned up and hauled everything away. They replaced the entire back gutter with a new one and the corner that was leaking has a miter joint looks much better and they said no more leaking. Took away old gutter. I would recommend them and I would use them again.

Gary and team was great to work with. They came when they stated they would and got the job done. The roof looks great and matches our neighbors. The tie in looks good. They left our yard clean with little evidence of a tear off. They are a busy group and there is a reason why there is a wait for their services because they do great work at a reasonable price.

Gary and his crew were great to work with. He was extremely professional. He arrived on time for the estimate. He provided an estimate on the spot. He was not the lowest estimate that we got, but within a few hundred dollars. We liked his diligence in explaining our options for shingles, venting, and gutter guards. He also fixed the pitch of one of the gutters that had been done incorrectly by the person who did our siding, years ago. The job was done when promised. Cleanup was great. I received a call back two days later. Made an appointment for 6:30 pm. No one showed up for appointment and no one called to reschedule. I had to postpone other personal business to be home for this appointment, and no one showed up. Awful. Never again - a complete waste of my time.

The owner, Gary Powell is excellent. We never had a problem with the roof since then. I was going to call him to get our gutters cleaned. We have a very steep and angular roof, with many different angles all over our roof and they did well. He was very easy to deal with. He was very professional. He did exactly what he said he was going to do. He didn’t charge us more on anything, he gave us a quote, and stuck to it, and did it on the time frame he said he was going to do it within. His workers were exceptionally neat and clean. I have four young children and they were very particular about protecting my kids from stepping on any nails, protecting my lawn, and I appreciate that. The price was very fair. If I need to I would use him again but I doubt that, because he did such a good job.

I had 2 leaks in my roof , one on the side of the front dormer, and another from an air vent located directly over the attic access door. The leak from the dormer had obviously been going on for a while because we noticed some bubbling and cracking of the paint on the living room ceiling directly below the dormer. Checking the crawl space next to the dormer, I saw that water was coming in from a higher point on the side of the dormer and making its way down the side of a beam. The leak from the air vent presented itself during a severe rain storm when I heard a steady dripping sound coming from the hallway at 1am. I called several roofers and received a variety of solutions and pricing, and was then referred to Powell?s by a member of my family. Not only was Gary professional and personable on the telephone and in person, he was prompt and extremely easy to talk to. He offered suggestions on repairs, answered all my questions and provided a fair estimate of the cost. Taking into account customer recommendations and the fact that my house already has a second layer of shingles on it, I decided to ask him for a price on replacing the entire roof to hopefully reduce the probability of future leaks. Again, he provided a fair estimate of the cost, explained the process for installation, the warranty information and answered all of my questions. Since we were experiencing a lot of rain during this time, he provided a quick installation date of just a few days later, and in the meantime offered to put a tarp over the roof where the leaks were, which he had his crew do the very next day. On installation day they showed up promptly and began work immediately. While pulling off all the shingles, he discovered that there was actually a third leak that I wasn?t aware of, so it turned out that replacing the entire roof was the right way to go. The crew worked quickly and the job took one full day and a few hours the next day. They cleaned up everything afterwards and there was absolutely no debris remaining and you would never have even known they had been there. Since the new roof was put on, we've been through Hurricane Sandy in October, an early fall snowstorm in November, and numerous days of high winds, snow/ice and heavy downpours throughout the last few months. The roof is exactly as it was the day it was installed, and I couldn?t be happier with the work that was done or the cost. It was definitely worth it and I highly recommend Powell?s Roofing.

The experience was fine. There is nothing to say in particular; everything went okay. It wasn't a big job and was only a few hours work. They came here, did the work and that was it.

Professional in every way. Explained the job in detail and itemized all costs. Crew was respectful of my home and did an excellent job. Cleaned up entire property when work was finished. By coincidence, 2 days before the scheduled work date, hurricane Sandy hit. Despite the chaos caused by that storm, they honored their commitment to my project and finished the work on time.

He was really professional and very thorough. He was great. We wish he would have told us that there were a lot of wood chips in the attic from the roof that we needed to clean up ourselves.

There was a problem with leaks around one skylight. The roofer returned several times until the repairs worked.

While I did hear from them and they sent out someone to look at the job. I never heard from them again..... If the job was too small at least let the customer know instead of waiting.

Gary and his men were great! Gary came for an estimate within a day and they came to replace the gutters in two days, were done start to finish in a few hours. Estimate was the final price. Couldn't be happier and will recommend and use Gary again. In fact the gutters weathered the Sandy no problem and worked great but I now need some roof shingles replaced ... be hearing from me soon :) Thanks! Marc

I had two skylights that were over 15 years old and leaking. I wanted to have them removed . Gary explained all the details of the job and provided a clear estimate of the work to be done on the roof and inside the house. The workers were prompt, neat, courteous and proved to be very capable. I was very pleased with the work that was performed, when looking at the roof I could see that they matched up and aligned the shingles perfectly. My wife and I were also very pleased with the work done inside the house as well, we could not see any evidence of where the skylights use to be. I would not hesitate to recommend Powell's Home Improvement to anyone based on my experience.

We requested 4 quotes in addition to Powell's Roofing for the installation of our new gutters. Gary, the owner came to the house, expedited the quote for us, and explained in detail who was going to do the work (Gary has a trusted partner he's been working on gutter installations for years), how long it would take (2 days max), and what we could expect (he advised the gutters would need to be strapped to the roof.) Gary also advised the quote did not include the 7% NJ State tax and that there would be a credit card fee of 2%. After evaluating our options we decided Powell's Roofing, though not the lowest quote we received, was the best fit for our needs. After playing a e-mail tag and voicemail tag, Gary apologized and explained he had a real estate transaction he was working on and that work could begin on 8/6. In that same conversation I had asked for a confirmation and invoice the day before which I didn't receive but everyone arrived as agreed on 8/6. On the day the work was scheduled we received a call that the crew was running behind at that they would arrive around noon. The rest of the day went without incident as 2 crew members worked until almost 6 PM and Gary's partner stayed until 8 p.m. to complete a majority of the work. Gary personally came by to review the work completed and to provide a final invoice. He also provided feedback on the roof of one of our rear porches and shared options we could take to address the water damage. The next day his partner arrived bright and early to finish the job. Upon inspection of the work I realized the gutter straps weren't installed on top of the roof as they were previously and as I expected them to be but most of them (to my delight) were tucked under the shingles were they would be out of sight throughout most of the installation (all the straps in the front of the house were completely tucked under the shingles as were several sections of the side and back of the house. Only a couple of sections in the back of the house required the straps to be installed on the shingles without do additional work.) I was told approaching the installation this way took more effort but it was the "right thing to do," and my husband and I very much appreciated it! It's been over a month since the project was complete and the gutters are working extremely well! Despite the initial communication glitches on this project Gary and his team have proven very knowledgeable and professional with extensive tenure in this business. He is a good local contractor with a great track record in the community and stands by his work. Not only would I highly recommend him but I asked him back to do the work on my rear porch roof! And yes, the communication was better the 2nd time around!

They installed a new solar shingles.They were neither the highest or the lowest on the bid, but I had a very good impression of the owner, Gary Powell, he seemed like a honest man. They were punctual, they arrive on time. Gary did not try to sell me things that I did not need.

Gary gave an appropriate recommendation, worked with me on price, and didn't have my business until I spoke with two other professionals. Gary was the most professional of the three and also gave the best price, winning the job. Workers conducted themselves professionally and efficiently. They took digital photos of the final result for me to see without climbing on the roof. Gary gave me a 5 year guarantee on the work performed. Everything was smooth and pleasant. I couldn't be happier.

Gary was prompt in his response to my request for an estimate, came equipped with a laptop and printer, itemized everything with a breakdown of charges. His team was very polite, neat and conscientious. The job was done in the time frame given and when they were done, their cleanup was very thorough. A little more expensive than some other estimates but the service and performance was beyond what I would have expected from others and well worth it.

Our slate roof was in need of repair, as we had developed a number of small leaks. We used Powell's in the recent past for gutter cleaning and repair, and were very pleased with their responsiveness, professionalism and workmanship. The owner, Gary, assessed the situation and assigned a true slate expert. They explained everything carefully and were very thorough. We had slate repairs done in the past for less money, but it turned out those repairs caused more problems than they solved. Weather and other factors delayed the start of the project, but once it got going they came regularly and completed the job in a very timely manner. Brad, the slate expert, has an artistic eye and made sure the new slates exactly matched the rest of our roof. He even traded some slates from a hidden side of our garage to ensure everything looked just right. I wouldn't hesitate to use or recommend Powell's.
