Universal Windows Direct of New Jersey

I called several window companies and multiple people come by to give me quotes on the new windows. I decided to go with Universal Windows as I thought Doug and his team were very professional, straight forward and honest. The windows came in the time frame promised and the installers were very friendly and professional. They worked efficiently and kept everything nice and clean along the way. I couldn't believe how quickly and smoothly the install went. I'm very happy with the windows and the overall experience. I would without a doubt recommend Universal Windows Direct and would use them again in the future.

Doug came in for an estimate only a couple of days after my first call. He brought samples and pictures to explain different types of windows patiently. He is a very warm and humorous person! I think he gave me a very reasonable price. We have a big picture window. He warned me that he may not get it in triple pane. But he did without charging more. The installers came in a couple of weeks later. They were professional and I didn't have worry about anything. They got the job done and cleaned up. The windows are beautiful! I love them.

The person who answered the phone was very professional, took down all the information, and promised to get the owner to call back. Doug called back within 30 minutes to understand the problem. Although he could not do the job himself, he advised me to work with a glass company. He was nice enough to take a look at the pictures I sent, give a reference to a couple of glass companies, and even called one of them for me. It was a very refreshing change to talk someone so professional and helpful. I look forward to work with Doug in the future and strongly recommend him.

Wanted to replace 20 year old builder grade patio/sunroom slider and 2 large picture windows on either side. Met with salesrep, who was personable and knowledgeable. With his help selected options and triple pane premium glass. Great installation. Installer noted several tiny imperfections in one window, which we might not have noticed right away. Company had factory reinstall that window, no hassles or haggling. In constant contact to update us on status of both job and replacement window. Looks great. We are very happy with product and installation.

Doug and the entire Universal Windows team were a pleasure to deal with. From the planning stage to the installation day, they were nothing but professional. There were no "tricks" or "hidden charges" put on at the last minute. I'm very happy (dare I say) I love my windows! A+

High quality products that are both attractive (inside and out) and functional. Very professional installation in an older (1927) home. Work performed as promised and on schedule. Worksite was cleaned daily and all debris removed. Installers were polite and punctual. Really could not be happier with this work.

Easy and painless experience. I contacted this company because of their service record on Angie's List. Doug was professional and responsive in our communications. Windows were installed within the promised time frame and installation was quick and professional for what was a large job of around 15 windows.

I called and left a message with one of his employee. Employee was quite knowledgeable and she confirmed the price of $1499 for five windows of 36'X60". She took my information and said Doug will call and schedule a date for measurement and installation. He called me and went over the details. Then when I told him that I am going to get the Angie's list deal he said Oh no, it will cost more as it is brown not white. He said you have to pay us directly and it will cost you $3700. These are vinyl windows and to get brown color in place of white will cost $2200 more. This man is doing simple bait and switch. He is a complete fraud no matter what kind of reviews he has been getting in Angie's list.

We met with Doug several weeks ago in the process of researching replacement windows. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. He gave us some options on windows. We were going to go with a different provider but Doug called and was willing to work with us to match the offer. I appreciate the motivation to gain business and although the cost was slightly more we felt most comfortable with universal windows because of our experience with Doug. The install was today and went great. 12 windows were replaced and they are wonderful. The installer Peter was personable, hard working, and very tidy. He had the job done in less than 4 hours. We are very happy with our service. We found them on Angie's list for the big deal and decided to upgrade our window selection and will have them back to finish the rest of the house this fall. Highly recommend!!!

There was a quicker turn around time than we expected from when we ordered the windows to when the windows were installed. Installation went well and the windows look great.

The installers were on time, efficient, and demonstrated their expertise. They were neat and showed respect for my home. My only dissatisfaction was with the caulking. The caulking overspread the seams and was not as neat as it should have been.

Everything was great. They came on time for the estimate and for the installation. It was a quick and easy process. He said it could take 4-6 weeks to get the door, but it was only about 2-3 which was awesome.

Doug knows his product well and it was a pleasure to deal with him! He doesnt give you the normal huge sell you get from a lot of home improvement companies. He gives you the facts. The good, better, best and the prices. The window construction is fantastic. Measurements were taken, and within a couple of weeks, we got a call to schedule the installation. The men showed up just before 9 am and were done, and cleaned up by early afternoon. They explained all they had to do before they got started and were very courteous. They always announced themselves when walking into the house from outside, even wiping their feet. This really was a pleasant experience and I highly recommend giving them a try!!!

Awesome Job. The entire process from the sales to the installation of the windows was a good experience. The pricing was good. Doug was accommodative for the pricing and the installation dates. My calls were returned on a regular basis by the office. And of course not to forget the guys Ed and Nick who did all the hard work to install the windows. Good housekeeping work as well. Would definitely recommend them.

The people who showed up to do the measuring were punctual quick and pleasant. The two gentlemen who showed up to do the replacement were very good and professional. They were in and out in no time and did a great job.

We had numerous window vendors come to provide estimates on replacing the original single pane window in our 100 year old house. We chose to have Interstate composite windows with wood look interior installed by Universal Windows as they had a much sturdier structure than competitors, without the wood powder in the resin, plus numerous other features that we wanted for our windows. They also had among the highest ratings for R value for the price and their look was very similar to our original windows. Most other suppliers who bid on the job were higher priced. There were some lower, but the quality was lower and/or they didn't have some of the features we wanted. John, our rep, was very friendly and has been very responsive and helpful throughout the whole process. He miscalculated the dollar amount of some of the doors, in our favor, and said he would stick by the price he had originally stated in the contract. We installed the first batch of windows around April and the second batch in October. We have not yet ordered/installed the doors as we are doing the project in stages. We did have a misunderstanding about the grid pattern desired on the windows, but we worked that out. I really wish that John/Universal would use a digital invoice/contract as it is sometimes difficult to read the handwritten portions of the contract and I think if it had been digital, our misunderstanding could have been detected and resolved earlier. They called in advance to schedule the two installations at times convenient for us. The workmen arrived on time, were very polite and took care to protect the floor surfaces and surrounding original wood trim. They took away the old windows and cleaned up afterward, completing each phase in one long day. They clad the exterior trim in aluminum to be maintenance free as requested. All seams were caulked neatly and completely. The new windows look great and have made a major difference in the heating of our home. Even though we still have the original doors and a couple windows left to do, the house is much easier to heat and far less drafty in the winter and much easier to keep evenly cool during the summer. The windows do a great job of minimizing heat gain during the summer and heat loss during the winter and the screens are nearly invisible. Even though we have huge double hung windows that are the maximum size, they open easily with one hand. The windows look great and we are very happy with them.

Professional from the time of the estimate to completion of the job. They replaced 4 attic windows for me and did a perfect job. I would 100% hire them for another job.

They replaced all the basement windows and a bathroom window. I chose this provider based on the reviews on this site, and was not disappointed. They were honest, professional, and did exactly what they said they would do. The price is in line with other service providers, which is to say you get what you pay for. In this case, I got professionally installed windows, which look great and work exactly as I wanted. They notified me of possible caveats with my specific situation, preventing me from wasting money/time. Specifically, the inside trim around the window in the bathroom is wood, which has begun to deteriorate over the years. They stated that while they could put a white trim on top of the existing wood trim, which would make it visually more appealing, I would only wind up ripping it all out and replacing it any way when I remodel my bathroom (next on my agenda). I appreciated that, even though it wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear. The sole reason for being on this site is not having to do projects twice, so I appreciated their honesty from that perspective. They goofed slightly on the bathroom window (the window was supposed to be frosted, but wasn't), but they stepped up and immediately took steps to resolve the issue. I would absolutely use them again, and recommend them.

The service was great. John Heinz was excellent and very responsive. He worked with us on the price and was there every step of the way. The installation went well and took exactly the amount of time that was predicted by the company. There were a few minor omissions by the contractor that I was not pleased with when I checked the work but John worked with us to get everything squared away. Overall I had a good experience with Universal Windows and would use them again.
