Universal Windows Direct of New Jersey

Entire process from start to finish took less time than expected. Installers did a great job and were professional and courteous. Windows look great and are of high quality.

We own an old colonial from the 1920s that had original windows that were drafty and broken. We found Universal Windows Direct on Angies List and after speaking with them and two other vendors (one local contractor and one major chain), we decided to go with Universal because of price, the type of window that they recommended and the overall experience with the owner, Doug, who came out to our house on a couple of occasions. He was never pushy and was communicative throughout the process. Overall we are very happy with our windows and really liked working with Doug. The windows look great (they are wood composite windows which were cheaper and seemed to have better ratings than the Anderson wood replacement windows we were considering). Installation was quick - they came and in basically one day replaced all of the windows on our first floor (I believe there were 15 windows in total). One caveat, though, was that when I got home to see them that night, the inside of the window frames were very rough - there were visible cracks where there hadn't been before and seemingly a lot more work to be done to make them look presentable. We had expected to need to repaint everything - but what was left was much more than that. The company was very responsive when we complained. The installer came back the next day along with Doug to see what we were seeing. They explained that it had to do with the type of installation (b/c it's an old house, windows had to be installed from the inside, which makes for a rougher installation) - and ultimately they fixed the roughest parts of the work. The reason I'm giving an A is because we felt that although perhaps there was some sort of miscommunication or oversight on what constituted 'rough', Doug took care of the issues and the windows were what he said they would be. If you own an older house like us, you might want to have that conversation up front. But we would indeed use Universal again for the remainder of our windows.

Workers were on time and were able to complete the job in a timely manner. They were considerate and friendly. The weather was hot agreeable(90 °) but they never complained.

I have used Universal Windows in the past and I am a big fan of the work that Doug (the owner) and team have done in my home. I contacted Doug over a year ago with regards to replacing my living room window with a new bay window. Doug had come to my home and showed me the many features of the types and styles of the windows he offered. However, at the time I held off purchasing due to other important projects that needed to be done in and outside of my home. However, I recently reached out to Doug to inform him that I was ready to proceed with purchasing the bay window. He immediately responded and provided me with an estimate of what it would cost based on the options I chose. Doug provided me with a confirmation before finalizing the order and informed me of the estimated time it would take have the window built and ready to install. His timing was correct and it arrived in about 3 1/2 weeks. On the day of install, Patrick (the lead installer I believe) with another worker appeared at my home by 9:00 AM. They immediately went to work to cover floors, etc. to protect my home and began to dismantle the old window. They were careful as to not break up walls or frames that did not need to be touched in order to replace the existing window. Since the new window had recessed lighting in the ceiling, it needed to be wired to an outlet in order to properly use. Doug's team worked in unison with my electrical contractors, so that they had easy access to the wires and were able to do so without having to open up walls or remove panels after the install. Doug stopped by personally to check on how the process was going and to assist where needed. The end result is a beautifully installed new bay window with recessed lighting that looks awesome even at night when the lights are lit up. Spoke with Mindy to set up an appointment (she called minutes after I submitted a request online). Met with Doug, the salesman, later that day. He was friendly & knowledgeable, and also worked with us regarding price. The final price was affordable especially considering the quality of the products. It took about 4 weeks to set up a day for installation as windows and door were being built. The installers were great - very personable yet professional. There was a minor mix-up where they had the incorrect patio door, but drove to the office in Woodbridge to get the correct one. The process was only slightly delayed. Everything else went smoothly and we are very happy with the outcome!

Everything went perfect. The owner went over everything and was very professional. Our windows came in and were installed within 2 weeks. I am very happy with the service and I'm loving my new windows!!!

Everything went very smooth. They showed up when they said and the workers were skilled at their job, meticulous and courteous. The bow window was custom so we had to wait a bit longer than usual. Everything we discussed prior to signing the contract was delivered. No surprises.

Doug came to our house to show us a sample of windows and different options we could go with. He was very friendly and easy to talk to, and didn't pressure us into using the company. We ended up booking an appointment that day. The company worked around our schedule (as it was right after the holidays) and Mindy was very nice in setting up our install date. The work was done in one day by a crew of three men. After the work was completed, they cleaned up everything, showed us the new windows and asked us if we had any questions, to see if we were happy with the installation. We were! Because we are a little picky, we called Doug a few days later because we noticed that the back screen door was a little off. He sent someone out in a timely manner to fix it for us. We would recommend Universal Windows to our friends.

A representative came to do an in home pricing and demo. Representative was polite and professional. We booked the date of service and they called to confirm a couple of days beforehand, also sent a list to prep the house. The installers were efficient and friendly. They took care to not harm to our newly refinished floors. All around a great service.

Doug was professional and available to answer questions through the process. Windows completed on time, installers were very polite,reliable , and did great work. no problems

We only needed 2 windows replaced, but when I mentioned we found them on an Angie's List special offer and the offer stated 3 windows minimum for some low amount, they agreed to do just 2 windows at the same rate/window. Other suppliers remained firm on the 3 to 5 window minimum requirement. They arrived for the first consult very quickly. We dragged our feet placing the order, but when we did, the product arrived on time and delivery/install was on time, fast, and carefully performed to our expectations. I recommend this supplier/installer as they are more than willing to work with the customer as opposed to some others that 'work over the customer' to get the order such as forcing you to sit through a 90 minute presentation and/or forcing you to 'buy now or the quoted price goes way up when we leave your house' routine. We are very happy with our purchase.

Doug was very professional. He sat down with us to discuss all the options, which allowed us to come up with the best solution for us. The installers were great (and entertaining!).

I contacted UWD for an estimate on replacing 4 big windows in my sun room, as well as the door to the room from the outside. The room was very hot in the summer and freezing in the winter and old window frames basically rotting away. Mr Connor was present for an in home estimate within 48 hours. He sat with my wife and took his time giving all the options without trying to up-sell. We decided to go with UWD and since we made that decision, Mr Connor and his staff were in constant contact via phone and email, answering all our questions. After the initial agreement, we decided to add a front door, which we were able to arrange over email, going very smoothly. 3 weeks after the contractors came to measure the house, they were back and ready to install. They were prompt, professional, cleaned up everything and their work is outstanding. With the new windows and door in the sun room, the temperature is the same as it is in the entire house, basically, problem solved and much more aesthetically pleasing. The front door increased the curb appeal of our home tremendously. I would not hesitate to contact UWD for any future work, and have already recommended them to friends who need similar work done. I bought this deal as a gift for my mom. From start to finish the job was exactly as was described in the Big Deal that I purchased. Mindy, the office person was extremely pleasant and answered all my questions. Doug ( the boss, I guess) also called me and my mom to make sure we both understood what she was getting. The crew arrived when Mindy said they would and were extremely pleasant and easy to work with. The job took only a couple of hours and the guys left the place neat and clean and hauled away the debris. Doug called Mom and me back a few days later to make sure that we were satisfied. The quality of the windows looks good and my 88 year old mother is very pleased with the job and the windows! We would definitely recommend Universal Windows Direct to others!

I called Universal Windows Direct to get a price on replacing all the windows and roof in my house. Doug was very responsive and professional from beginning to end. He came to my house on time and provided me with a quote for the windows, while at my home I asked about the roof and received a separate price on the roof. He sent Peter, a well trained installer to get the most accurate measurement on every windows. They adjusted the original order in order to match the color of my house. The installer came to my house and installed roof and all windows, removed the old ones and cleaned up. All the work was professional and the house kept clean. I would recommend this company and use them again for future projects.

We searched Angie's list and we found Universal Windows who had one of the top ratings. We got in touch with Doug who came to our house and told us about the Polaris windows he and his team works with. He showed an example of the 7000 series and it seemed like the quality was great. After he informed us about the lifetime warranty (windows and labor) for that specific series and the windows warranty was transferrable to the next owner, we were sold. After a couple of weeks, his team (Ed and Lee) came to install the 5 windows. They took the old windows and sealed the new windows properly, and afterwards, cleaned up the remaining mess. They were very professional and friendly. They also gave some pointers and tips on other stuff that we might need maintaining, house-wise. We will definitely use them again in the future!

The original windows were metal and raggedy. Doug came to my home with sample windows and we discussed the best options for what I wanted. We decided on 4 large side-sliding window's plus screens. Doug worked with my budget and did not try to oversell what I needed. I ended up with insulated panes that will be way more energy efficient in the winter since that room is not heated. The installation went as promised -it took about 5 weeks for the windows to arrive and the installers worked quickly and professionally. The front of my house looks amazing! It was like a complete facelift for my home! Everyone who sees the windows raves about them! I love how they look and how open they make the room feel!

I called Universal Windows Direct to get a price on replacing all the windows in my house and had a coupon from the "shop the deals" section of Angie's list. Doug came to my house on time and provided me with a quote for the windows, while at my home I asked about the front door and received a separate price on the door. Doug was very personable and answered all my questions. He sent a trained installer to measure the windows for an exact fit which I think is a smart way to get the most accurate measurement instead of having the salesman measure. I agreed for the replacement windows and ordered them which took about 3 weeks. The installer Peter came to my house and installed all 14 windows, removed the old windows and cleaned up. There were two windows that had imperfections in the glass and both were replaced within two weeks. There was a problem with the original order on exactly which level window I ordered (double pane or triple pane) and Doug corrected the mistake and adjusted the bill. Peter came back and installed the front door at a different time, which included one side light and a storm door. All the work was professional and the house kept clean. I am very happy with my windows and Doug's responsiveness to my questions and concerns. The price was excellent and I had two other quotes both of which were much higher for the same grade window.

Installation went great! Installers arrived well within the time frame I was given. Old door was removed and new one installed. I was very impressed with the installers...they were very professional and paid attention to detail. The entire area was cleaned up after installation. The door operates with ease and is so much better than the old one! I highly recommend this company!

I really like the 4 new windows they built for me. They look great and were less costly than from other companies I talked to. The only hiccup was that the rep mis-measured them and they had to be built again which took another 3 weeks. But I was in no rush so it didn't matter. The installation crew worked h****** the hottest day of the year. They took away the old windows and carefully cleaned up after themselves.

Doug was very friendly and professional, everything was done in a very timely manner. Windows were ready fairly quickly, and the installers did a great job!

Doug is a very warm and humorous person! He gave me a very reasonable price for my one windows in my office room. In next few weeks,the installers came and they were very professional and did job done and cleaned up. The windows are beautiful! I love them.
