Description of Work: Requested service for a standup freezer where defrost cycle no longer worked. Appliance Master identified cause as timer failure. Repair estimate was about $400. Part about $30. Alternate repair vendors quoted 10min labor at about $100. All stated I just needed to remove two screws, unplug old and place new time. Which was easy access visible in back of unit. Calls to office questioning this huge charge were met with "That's our rate". DO NOT ENGAGE THIS VENDOR for their overly inflated charges. [Quality, courtesy and accuracy are excellent but not for $300 overcharges]

(member name removed) is incorrect in his reporting of the facts of this quote. First, this repair was quoted on July 3, 2014, this review was written December 18, 2014. Our technician indeed diagnosed the unit as needing a defrost timer. The total job cost before sales tax was $214 not $400. This quote included 45 minutes to manually defrost the evaporator. On this type of repair, a customer may opt to lower the bill by turning the unit off and letting it defrost on its own. Records of all of our repairs are stored electronically and invoices emailed to customers. We have Mr. Spielberger’s invoice #1013348 on file, with his signature to verify this information if needed.

[member name removed] called us and scheduled an appointment to diagnose her Bosch dishwasher that would not fill with water. Our technician Abe went out and discovered that the unit needed a new pressure chamber. The customer was given a quote and was told that the repair part needed to be ordered. She then gave us the go ahead to continue. The technician returned with the part, installed it and while testing the unit discovered an unrelated problem with the control board. The customer was given a quote for this additional part and at that time was unsure if she would proceed. Our technician was told she would call us with her decision. Then, days later I read this review on Angie’s List. I emailed the technician, Abe the history of the service call along with the complaint and asked him to contact the customer for a resolution. After speaking with the customer his recommendation was to refund any money spent with the exception of the diagnosis fee. That is how we resolved this incident.

Feel cheated.
Description of Work: Horrible service. Unethical business practices, changed the previously agreed upon estimate after performing the job with no real explanation . Did not accept the Angies list coupon by saying they never heard of Angie's list.

Description of Work: Dryer was shutting off in the middle of the cycle. called them. first they said it was the door switch and charged me $144. then the tech could not open the machine when he came with the part. dryer was still working though. he had to come back with help the third visit. on opening the machine they said their diagnosis was wrong and it was another part that would cost another 200. At no point did the man tell me that my dryer would not work without this repair. When I went to check after they left, the dryer was NOT working, there were two metal strips and a plastic part left on the laundry room floor. Customer service at this place really sucks. The person would not even let me finish a sentence. Finally the tech called back and said the repair would now cost >$410. I called the manufacturer to confirm the cost of the part and the manufacturer had no record. They asked me to get the part number from the service tech. Appliance master did not provide me with this information. All in all, i would say avoid this company. I ended up having to buy a new dryer. One that I did not need until their supposed tech touched my machine. Poor technicians and incredibly poor customer service. Top that off with awful communication. Stay away from them

We regret that this repair could not be completed. The technician took an initial deposit based on his assessment of a damaged door switch. When he returned with the part, the housing which holds the switch fell apart as he began the repair. After providing the customer with a new estimate, she declined to proceed further. The technician was unable to return the unit to its original condition due to the broken housing. He tried to explain this, but the customer seemed unwilling to accept this fact. When the customer subsequently called the office, many additional attempts were made to explain and clarify the sequence of events. She became abusive on the phone. Our excellent customer service representative managed to achieve a calmer level of communication and the customer agreed to continue with the repair. We then discovered that the manufacturer no longer provides this part as a separate repair item, it’s only available as a complete door assembly, thereby raising the cost to complete the repair. We again followed up with the estimate. The customer became irrational, emotional and began shouting at our staff. By mutual agreement, we will not be proceeding and we have processed a check for a complete refund. Any company that attempted to repair this machine would have encountered the same sequence of events. However, I am certain that few of these companies would have responded as thoroughly and would have given her a complete refund.
