 + -1 moreCalled yesterday and set up appointment for today. Tom, the technician arrived at 7:45am as agreed. He was clean and in uniform. He quickly diagnosed the issue as a bad thermal switch and explained to us what causes them to go bad (age or blocked vent) Since this one was 15 years old, probably age, but he advised us to contact a chimney sweep to get the vent cleaned just to make sure. The job was finished in 30 minutes and we are perfectly happy with the work and would highly recommend this firm to anyone needing an appliance repaired.

He explained that the right route was to replace the microwave. He even made some general recommendations on models. I always appreciate when a repair company is honest and explains it is cheaper to replace an item as opposed to taking advantage.

 + -1 moreThe repair man and quot;defrostedand quot; the freezer by pouring hot water into it. The entire process took 15 minutes and cost me $150.00. I asked the repair man what caused the freezer to freeze up and shouldn't that be examined. He told me everything seem to be working fine. P.S. ice built up in the freezer again and is leaking below. I need to call another repair company.
Description of Work: I needed a repair on my 3 year old fridge. Ice was building up in the freezer and leaking into the section below. I though something was wrong with the defrost mechanism.

The Unit cost $200-$215. The remainder for labor is absurd. Local handyman came replaced in under 30 min for $50.

 + -1 moreMoved into house in May and the fridge and gas clothes dryer had major issues. Called Appliance Masters. Our technician, Ed, quickly diagnosed the fridge and returned in a day or two to replace fan. He cleaned a pile of lint from the gas clothes dryer and advised on how to get the best results from the washer. On another visit, he diagnosed and advised on a 2nd fridge that was not working so I replace the unit. Quick responce... Great Service, Capable Techs.... Would use again ( and again).
Description of Work: 1. Trouble shoot refrig evaporator fan and replace. 2. Clean tons of lint from gas clothes dryer. 3. Trouble shoot 2nd refrig. and advise corrective action.

 + -1 moreThe first appointment went well. The tech looked at what was going on. He made a good diagnosis and repaired the problem. The second appointment did not go as well. This time our technician was not as pleasant. His attitude seemed like and quot;oh, what do you know about an oven.and quot; He basically told us that we would need to buy different thermometer to re-calibrate the oven. I would have liked for him to do the adjustment during the first appointment than for him to have to come back a second time for a second fee. I would use them in the future, but only because the manager was very responsive when I called to complain and because our first experience was still good. He also gave me a helpful tip over the phone.
Description of Work: The first repair they did for us was for a refrigerator. The second repair was for a oven.

The cost of the parts was expensive but the service cost was competitive to other repair companies. The repairman was courteous and explained everything he was doing. I would use them again if I had a problem.
Description of Work: Replaced Ice Maker on Sub Zero refrigerator ($480) and replaced right front power switch on Thermador electric stove ($244) plus tax.

 + -1 moreIt wasn't heating to the proper temperature, but when the technician showed up, he told me that the thermostat did read the proper temperature. I asked him if he had an oven thermometer; he ended up leaving without repairing anything. He then came back and told me that he'd order a new heating element to see if that helps. I asked him if he was going to charge me, since it was under the warranty, and he told me he won't, but he could if he wanted to, in a very unprofessional manner. Also, this company has a policy that if the repair isn't done right, they have to send the same technician back out. I used to have the same technician that used to be great, but most recently, the technicians haven't been that great and they haven't been able to fix problem.
Description of Work: I've used their services for years, and they were always very good, but most recently, the experience has great. Most recently, they came out to repair an oven.

 + -1 moreThe week before Christmas a few years ago, our Kenmore dryer stopped working. Sears was going to take two weeks - Couldn't come until nearly New Years. Appliance Master came that day promptly AND had the part to fix it with them. Wasn't cheap, but I was back up and running quickly. I first used them in the past for dishwasher warranty work, and then last year again when the dishwasher broke as well also. Highly recommend.

 + -1 moreSo the overall performance from APPLIANCE MASTER was poor poor poor. Will never use them again. Do not trust them any longer.
Description of Work: I called Appliance Master because a year ago my GE refrigerator needed service. I had water draining from the upper position of the refrigerator to the bottom freezer forming ice on the bottom then overflowing water onto the kitchen floor. So a year ago Appliance Master charged me approx. $300 because they said the fan that was to evaporate this water was freezing up and not working properly. A year later that same thing happened and a repairman came out and charged me $74.85 to tell me that there was nothing to be done and I would have to scrap off the ice from the bottom of the refrigerator on a continual basis or buy a new refrig. The repairman was very nice but gave me the story that appliances now a days only last 10 or so years before you have to get a new appliance. He also stated that all parts were enternal and you cannot get at the parts that went bad so there was nothing to do. (I believed him!) And I was unhappy with GE products. Well I finally saw an ad in the Agnies List for "Bill's Appliance Repair so I called them. They did not service Central Jersey, but spent the time on the phone with me to explain axactly what to do. I followed Bill's instructions, and guess what, I NOT LONGER HAVE THE WATER DRIPPING AND FREEZING ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FREEZER! No charge from Bill's Appliance Repair, just being a great guy and helping a person in distress. Thumb down to Applicance Master and 10 Thumbs up for Bill's Appliance Repair.  + -1 moreDay 1 - Service person inspected the ice maker and needed to order the part. Day 2 - Part came in but something was missing and not quite working as expected. Day 3 - A 2 person team came in and fixed it very quickly. They were very polite and professional.
Description of Work: They fixed my Subzero ice maker. It was a difficult job but the service person stuck to it. I highly recommend this company and their service people.

 + -1 moreI scheduled an appointment online for $50 on my credit card. I was able to get a slot within 48 hours from the time I discovered the problem (they didn't offer next day appointments.) The technician came out as scheduled and on time to diagnose the problem. During his visit, he opened the washer and showed me what was going on. It turned out that a spring needed to be replaced so he ordered the part right in my laundry room. At the conclusion, he billed me for the portion of the work that was done that day. I mentioned that I had already paid a fee of $50 at the time of scheduling the appointment and he gave me a discount off the bill. He said that the office would call me when the part arrived and they would come out and install it immediately when they received it. He provided an exact price that would be due at the time of actual repair as well as an an approximate date. Sure enough, the office called when I expected them to and they came out the next day to install the new part. The same technician returned to finish the job. He was knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, professional and punctual. Overall I felt that the repair was a decent price; certainly cheaper than replacing the washer, and that it was done correctly. I suspect that I could have found a local repairman who would have charged less for the work, but it was worth it to pay a little extra to have the level of professionalism and reliability that Appliance Master provided.
Description of Work: Our washing machine was making a screaching/scraping sound and leaking a small amount of water. The technician came out to make a diagnosis, order the needed part and then returned to replace the part at a later date.

 + -1 moreWe liked them and they were very good. He came out and looked at my dishwasher and told me that I needed a new part and so I ordered the part through him. He came back with the part and it turned out that my dishwasher was totally gone. So he didn't charge me to come back for the part and he charged me $40 for the appointment. I didn't have to pay for the part or for him to come back. He was really nice about it and I am glad he didn't fix a dish washer which was just going to break down the line. We replaced the dishwasher. The guy who came was really nice and his name is Justin. I would definitely have him back again. My new dishwasher is broken at the moment and I can call him. I am very angry about that. They make their appointments quickly and I didn't have to wait a week. They came when they said they would and they were very nice and professional. I think the price is good and nobody gives anything for free.

Description of Work: Washing machine just "stopped" in a cycle. I called and they scheduled me promptly. When tech got there , immediately suggested what problem may be. A sock had become lodged in the discharge outtake house . Removed it and cleaned the machine ans it has worked great since then .. I had thought it was gong to be some "expensive " control mechanism, but was pleases with the service
