Greg arrived promptly on schedule (although he is based an hour away) and happened to have the required part in his truck, although he pointed out that most parts are no longer made for this obsolete stove. He couldn't get the burner off because it had been fused shut over the years but he managed to just barely lift the whole top off just far enough to slip the new part in. When we also showed him the burner that didn't work his first guess was that the problem concerned an inaccessible location, but then he looked carefully and found that the installers had accidentally dropped a little nut into the gas line! When he removed this, the burner worked, for the first time since we bought the stove 25 years ago. Greg is smart and resourceful, and our stove is now working better than it has since we purchased it. Maybe $300 is a fair amount to pay for a service call, but that's the going rate these days and I was unable to find someone who was likely to address these problems for less. I am totally pleased with Appliance Master.
Description of Work: Our Thermador stove broke down: the XO burner had no gas, and one burner never worked properly from day one. Although we have a service contract from the gas company, the contract specifically excepts Thermador ranges! You have to hunt around to find someone who understands these ranges.

Technician James Crawford arrived on time and spent 30 - 45 minutes checking airflow outside the house and diagnosing the problem. He had the part needed on the truck and was able to install it that day. He also did some maintenance of rollers and lint traps under the drum while he was working in that area. He gave me advice on maintaining my appliance. He cleaned up after he was done. The entire process took just about two hours to complete. The work is guaranteed for 90 days. I would definitely have James Crawford and Appliance Master back for any future appliance issues.

Making an appointment was easy and to my schedule as opposed to some companies that come to my area in Western New Jersey only on specific days. After trying to repair it, Mike said that the unit needed to be replaced. I agreed. He ordered the part and when it came in from the supplier, he returned to install it (again, when it was convenient for me). The new ice maker works very well.
Description of Work: The ice maker in our old Sub Zero refrigerator was not working. As I had used Appliance Master before , I called and made an appointment to have it checked out.

Hello Bill C, I called your business to schedule a service call for my Fisher & Paykel refrigerator. I have own since 2006 and just recently the temp in the food compartment had increased as to make the milk and water not very cold. Even decreasing the temp did not help the temp at the lowest setting was 45-50 degree. I had milk that actually curdled. I was given an apt for Sunday july 9th between 130p-330p, which was perfect for me being that I like to sleep late. On that day @ 9am the house phone rang and it was Abe from your company asking if he could come within the hour. My husband explained I was sleeping, but after hearing the phone ring, I picked up the phone and told him ok. When he got here, he check the fridge temp and the freezer temp. He said it was only 5 degrees off. He listened for the fans, removed the back panel, then replaced. He looked in the user guide I had there and said that I was probably using the up and down buttons incorrectly. I said I don't think so, down is lower temp, up is to decrease temp. He seemed to think it was the other way, which actually makes no sense to me. I said if you have an air conditioner and you want the temp lower it works the same way, down lower up higher. At this point I was bewildered. Then he says doesn't seem to be anything wrong here, but I will have to call Fisher & Paykel tomorrow and ask their suggestion, Oh yea, that will be 99.95 for today. I said I will pay you tomorrow when you call me back with a solution, he said that this fee was to just look at it. Why are appts made on Sunday if companies cannot be called. At least let the customer know that if item cannot be fixed the day of service, it will have to wait for Monday to reach the company and let the customer make the decision. That would be the right thing to do. The best in customer service. So needless to say I am not a happy customer, I am sorry to say. I called on Monday in the afternoon and spoke to Kathleen. I explained the situation, she said she would talk to Abe and call me back. Abe called me and said that he spoke to F&P and they suggested I replace the cold control which will cost me 200.00 + with taking the 99.95 off. I will not be having that done and appeal to you to please refund the $ I pd for the service I feel I did not get. Thank you and so sorry this has happened. From reading your company bio you pride yourself on great customer service. I just don't feel that I got that.

We offer Sunday repair service because some of our customers really appreciate it, especially for a "no refrigeration" call in the middle of the summer. Appliance Master is a factory authorized Fisher & Paykel repair service. If this technician was confronted with a technical situation that he was not familiar with, he has special access to the manufacturer to help isolate the failure and make the correct diagnosis. Although this help is available, our technicians seldom need it because they have extensive experience and training. Obtaining help is always the best course of action rather than guessing. Unfortunately, the manufacturer's technical support is not available on the weekend. On Monday our technician contacted the manufacturer, discussed his findings, and gave you an estimate for the repair. A faster resolution to your situation was not possible.

Well my appt. was for 6/30. I night before they called telling me the tech could not make it. So, they came out on 7/3. The tech showed up unprepared. My housband had to go to Home Depot to get the Gas line. Ok! All was done he turned the dryer on and it worked. He took my payment and left. After he left i put a load in pushed start and nothing. I called the company and told them was was going on. I then asked if he could come back. "I was told NO" that I would have to wait until Friday. I said, YOUR KIDDING ME. I told them i needed someone to come back that i was going on vacation. They then went as far to tell me to go find another company. How dare you. Is this how you do business. Take my payment then leave me hanging. Poor customer service. I did call American Express to stop payment. I did email the owner. But, he never responded.

We take great pride in the service we perform. When there is an issue with a recently completed repair, it is given top priority. Unfortunately this situation occurred on Monday July 3rd, during the fourth of July Holiday weekend, one of the busiest times of the year. When we received your call, the technician had already left your area. Our scheduling protocol for this situation is to lock in the earliest open appointment slot then to see how the schedule can be manipulated to get him or another technician back to your home sooner. It was during this process that the communication broke down. Our office staff and technicians are instructed not to tolerate inappropriate language. After hearing about your remarks on the phone, calling our office staffer the "c" word, I immediately had your credit card charge voided. We would, however, still honor our guarantee and correct any defective workmanship.

Great. The refrigerator is working properly now.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator was not cold while the freezer was overly cold. The service provider diagnosed the problem and fixed it. It turned out that the circulating fan had fallen off the shaft and once it was reinstalled the refrigerator operated properly. I could not have repaired it myself and was pleased that he was able to repair it so quickly and with no need for additional parts.

Awesome! My repairman, Greg, is knowledgeable, professional, courteous and reliable. Greg provided an estimate for repairs and the cost was spot on. I was concerned I would have to replace the dryer; Greg was confident he could repair the dryer cheaper than replacing which placed me immediately at ease. The work was completed cleanly and quickly. It went very, very well - we were very impressed, not only with the work, but also with the tech's honesty. I presume this honesty reflects company policy, which is admirable. Specifically, he (Ed) diagnosed the noise, but told us he didn't recommend fixing all the little things, one expensive part at a time, because our 15 year old machine was almost to the end of its life. He gave us ways to baby it along. I'm sure he saved us a lot of repair money, and gave us lead time to find a new one. The company is on our "must call" list!
