Description of Work: Purchased the gutter cleaning option. 2 guys came with leaf blowers and blew off my roof. After they finished, they told me they don't clean gutters with covers. Fair enough, but they didn;t even check the gutters at all to let me know if there were problems/clogs/areas that required attention/etc. This was a waste of money for me, because I need to hire someone else to check/clean the gutters now.

Response from Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning
There is no way to check a screwed down cover system because it is screwed down. If we remove covers, we have to charge for the removal, and then we cannot reinstall them because we don't install that type of cover. Plus, if we do anything with the covers, it voids whatever warranty the homeowner has with the installer. The best thing to do is call the company that installed the covers. The homeowner won't have to “hire someone else” that will make his money a “waste” as he indicates because whatever company installed the covers for him will come out and check the system at no charge. If we had been told from the beginning that he had this type of cover system before going out there, we would have told him that. We assume that his gutters were open because the deal he purchased clearly indicates in the deal “Deal does not include removing covers or plastic screens during cleaning”. If the customer really really really wants to, we are more than happy to come back and remove and dispose of a few of the covers for $85, which is what we would have charged if we did it that day. For the $85, we’ll remove two pieces on each run of gutter, at either ends, and see if there is any debris. We can take the covers and dispose of them or leave them in a pile. We didn’t offer the customer this option because (1) most homeowners don’t want it because they want the covers to stay on the home, which would require a company that installs that type of covers and (2) to charge to do that work would be unethical because once again, he could easily have the installer come out for free. When we show up at a home with a cover system like this, we do the process of the cleaning as much as possible, blowing off the roofs, blowing off the tops of the covers, and blowing out the slits, and doing whatever ground cleanup there is. The covers being on only saves us about 3 minutes in time, so we essential spend the same time and do the work as far as we can take it without removing the covers, which the deal says we will not do. If the customer wants us to come back for the $85 and permanently remove covers at the ends to look for debris, we are happy to do so. IF. however, he wouldn’t want to pay the extra, or would want the covers back on, then we are back to the same situation we have now. If that is the case, then this review is both unfair and unethical. He gave “price” and “F”, but there is nothing wrong with the price. To use an analogy, if you buy a regular car wash and show up with a stretch limousine, the car wash will tell you that it’ll be more. Doesn’t mean their pricing was bad, it means that the item you intended the service for did not match the service you purchased, and that isn’t the fault of the vendor. I’ll use one more analogy, a better one: You have an allergy to peanuts. You order an asian dish with peanuts at a restaurant. You eat the dish and go into shock. You post a review for the restaurant that their food wasn’t cooked right because you got sick. We have no way to stop people from buying this deal if they have covers, except the words in the actual deal that say we don’t work with covers. If someone buys it, and we can’t do anything around them cause we don’t want to void your warranty, charge the customer more to take a cover off that we can’t put back on, that doesn’t mean that we did something wrong, or did a bad job. One more analogy, an even better analogy (I love analogies). If you go on Amazon and order a PC software for your Macintosh computer, and you can’t use it, it isn’t Amazon’s fault or the manufacture’s fault (as long as the ad was clear). The only difference in that situation is you can probably send the part back, where once we send two certified roofers to a home to do a job, we have to pay them no matter what and can’t replace the job on a route with another job. I am truly sorry if the customer was unhappy with the situation, but posting a review like this only hurts and affects the jobs of 38 full time, legally employed hard workers who had nothing to do with any of the matters the customer is upset with.

Description of Work: I bought a deal for gutter cleaning and everything was done as expected. Very easy - since I had paid on Angie's List, I didn't even have to be home when the work was done (though I was). They were professional, quick, and as far as I can tell they did a good job - no overflowing gutters since then despite many heavy rains. I will definitely call them again next time I need gutter cleaning.

Description of Work: They set up an appt with me but never showed up. I e-mailed that night and got an immediate reply at 8:30 pm from the owner. They suspected they may have gone to the wrong house as the work order showed as being fulfilled. With no hesitation they rescheduled quickly and did a great job. Mistakes happen but they did a great job of resolving it.

Response from Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning
1. It was 3 weeks, because he booked during the busiest time of year. It wasn't that we were sitting around twiddling our thumbs until it was time to do his service, he had over 1000 people ahead of him, and we sent him the date in 24 hours of booking. 2. The day we didn't show up was a day that it rained all day, making it impossible to do the work. We did call him and left a message in the morning. 3. On the day he was rescheduled, he cancelled our office and cancelled at 3PM. The crew that was servicing his area was still out working, and just hadn't gotten to him yet. He just became impatient 4. He did sent an email, very angry stating he never wanted to use our service again. It didn't state that we he was looking for any kind of answer or addressing, nor any call to action. Since the first time he was rescheduled was due to weather beyond our control, and the second attempt he cancelled before we had a chance to show up, we didn't feel there was anything we could do to satisfy this customer. Unless we had risked our lives of our people and came out during torrential rain, or had cancelled other customers and moved this customer up in service, there was no way to satisfy him.
