I was getting ready to rip out all of plumbing and redo the plumbing, but that was not needed. The technician was very professional and got everything done in a timely manner.

+ 0 moreThey are wonderful to deal with. The technicians are very prompt. If I call in the morning, they are there later in the day or the next. I purchased the water heater through them. I was limited with the water heater because of space, but they had one that could accommodate me. The installation went fine. Once the work was completed, they removed and hauled away the old heater. Every time I call them, they give me superior service.
Description of Work: They have done multiple repairs and upgrades for me. They have replaced a hot water heater and various plumbing jobs.

+ 0 moreHe did a competent job on both experiences. I do believe they were pricey with the sump pump job. They were on the high end of the estimates for the sump pump and middle of the pack for the furnace. When they installed the furnace, I found the work was done by a subcontractor. I prefer to have a personal relationship with a company rather than subcontracted work. They helped me decided which furnace to purchase and had a few options to choose from. The worker even informed me about a manufacturing rebate, which got me $200 back. The furnace is still running fine since the installation.
Description of Work: They installed my gas furnace, which was done well. I also had them out for some sump pump work. They wanted a gravel pit covered in concrete around the pump.

+ 0 moreI woke up on Sunday morning to find that my sewer line was clogged and my basement toilet was back-filling. I found Wittmaier Plumbing on Angies list. I called that morning and spoke to a polite person (an actual person). She took my information and told me the on-call plumber would be contacting me. Within 15 minutes I recieved a call from Joe. We discussed the problem and he asked if 2:00 would be OK for his arrival. He came 10 minutes early. He was happy, polite and professional. He cleared the drain and checked to make sure the pipe was draining properly. He was happy to answer all of my questions. I would gladly use them again.
Description of Work: Joe O'Connell (Plumber) ran machine to clear drain line from curb to house. Tested drain line.

+ -1 moreOverall, I was completley satified with his work and how he took the time to explain the problem to me in terms that I could understand. I felt better informed and did not felt like I was taken advatage of. He was very professional and knowledgeable about the problems in the area and was able to give me great advice if my drain line becomes clogged again! He was an Ace!
Description of Work: Our first floor plumbing lines where backed up and we couldn't use the kitchen sink or bathroom. I went on Angies list to look up plumbers in my area and found Whittmaier Plumbing literally a few blocks from my house, so I gave them a call. I was greeted on the phone by a friendly and caring worker, who told me that there was a technician in the area who could be at my house in an hour. She explained to me how they charge by the job, meaning for backed up drains they charge $175.00. I thought that was pretty fair, as other Plumbing companies had charged me $239.00 in the past. The women on the phone then told me that the technician would call me when he was on his way, and as promised, he did in an hours time! He was very friendly and seemed to be very knowledgeable. He asked me what the problem was and proceeded to take the drain cleaner off of his truck and place down into the drain cleanout by the outside curb. A few minutes later he asked me to turn on some of the faucets in the house, so that he could see if the clogg had been removed, so I did and went back outside to whether the problem was fixed. He then explained to me what the problem was, but It was the fist time I had ever heard this explanation! In the past I had been told by several different plumbers that the sewer lines in my basement were corroded inside and out and that there were burres inside of those pipes and toilet paper over time was clogging the drains. They wanted to cut out the corroded section the "Y', where the second floor pipe meets the first floor pipe, replace it with PVC and it was going to cost about $1800.00..Instead of paying all that money I just decided that we were going to watch what we threw down the drains more carefuly and hope for the best, to buy more time. Anyway, the Whittmaier plumbing technician proceeded to tell me that about 45 feet into my line he could feel a divit in our clay sewer line in the front yard and as soon as he hit that divit he heard water behind the clogg unmasked itself and free the clog. He did however continue running the drain machine down to the end of the line approx. 175, just to debunk the corroded pipe- burre theory and didn't find anything caught up in the pipes in that area. He explained to me that sometimes clay pipes break, especially if the ground underneath settles and creates a gully in the pipe where waste can lay and because I don't have great water pressure to help wash away the debri, that this was going to be a continous problem. I asked him how much it was going to cost to fix the problem and he told me very matter of factly that there was another component to the problem, which wasn't my problem! He said that in the town of Collingswood the main sewer lines were never dug deep enough, therefore even if I replace the broken line, he would never be able to get the proper depth and pitch on the sewer line to meet the main line out in the street. That the city was aware of the problem, but they are not going to redo all of the main sewer lines because of the cost. Instead, they bought a high powered drain cleaning truck, and from time to time or when someone complains they go and clean the main line that is causing the problem. My plumber then suggested to me, that the next time that this happens, I should call the Bourough and have someone look at the main line in front of my house, just to make sure their not causing the back up. Its free and they'll tell me right away if it's their problem or if I need to call a plumber! Needless to say, not only did I learn something new and didn't have to replace all kinds of pipes and spend thousands of dollars, but I was able to print out a 10% off coupon for the service call! I would definitly use Whittmaier again and recommend them highly to my family and friends!

Through a friend who works for Independent Alarm Company in Collingswood, I found Harry C. Wittmaier Plumbing. My friend told me that the company had used them and was very satisfied. I called Wittmaier and spoke to a REAL person - not a recording. They offered to come out immediately - but, I felt we could wait til the next day. The representative came out when they said they would, had the replacement water heater with him, replaced it, took away the old one, cleaned up after himself and was pleasant and professional. I would highly recommeng this company. Real people, genuine, good solid work at a fair price.

+ -1 moreWittmaier was a pleasure to deal with. They were very professional. They showed up on time, and the work was completed promptly and with excellent quality. This was especially important for us because we only have one bathroom and needed the work done without excessive disruption to our lives. They did fine with that, by keeping us informed as to how long the work was expected to take, and meeting that goal. Price-wise, I found them to be the most reasonable. I did have a specific faucet style in mind to match my decor. I priced other plumbers in the area and Wittmaier was quite reasonable for the faucet and installation that I wanted. I couldn't be happier. I'll definitely use them again.

I had a rebate on the water heater and they made sure I had all the information I needed and were very easy to work with. One time I needed my gas heater cleaned and serviced. They told me they did not have a tech at the time that they think could do what I needed but they referred me to another company that they knew would be able to do a good job. I was amazed and very pleased with this.
Description of Work: They have done a lot of work for me in the past. The last time they came to my house they replaced my hot water heater. They also fixed a couple of leaking pipes.

Description of Work: I called Wittmaier Plumbing on a Friday afternoon explaining a leaking kitcen faucet. Due to the time of the call (3:35pm) they told me they would not be able to come until Monday morning. Being totally understanding, I agreed to have them come out and replace my faucet. Monday morning at 9am, Wayne came to the house and repaced the new faucet. The job was done in a professional manner. I would not hesitate to use this company again! The services were great and the employees are extremely friendly. Thank you again Wayne for helping us!

+ -1 moreMy main sewer line to my house was clogged and I could not use any plumbing in my house. I called Witttmaier and a man was at my house within the hour and cleared the drain. The total cost for the job was $125.60 which was drastically less than the estimates I received from Roto Rooter and other local plumbers who were all over $200.00. The mechanic explained that the trees in my front yard over time had made their way into the sewer line and were most likely the cause of the clog and that he used a special head on the machine to cut he existing roots. He recommended that I have the drain cleaned every 6-8 months to help prevent the line from backing up again and creating a mess of my day! Wittmaier was prompt, courteous,knowIedgeable, and informative of my plumbing problem. They let me know the cause of the problem, what they did to fix the problem, and what to do so I can avoid the problem again. I will surely use Wittmaier Plumbing again in the future for any of my plumbing problems!

+ -1 moreI had a clog in the pipes which I discovered in the morning when I saw several inches of water covering the basement floor. The sump pump was recycling the water through the washing machine hose. I disabled the sump pump. I contacted this provider and he said that he could send someone that day after 4:30 but it would be overtime charges. I agreed. At approximately 4:40 two young men arrived at the house. Within a few minutes they were able to ascertain that there was a crack in the pipe between the house and the curb. I was told that fixing the problem was a township responsibility not the homeowners. I said I was not concerned about that and that I would pay; just clear the clog. They tried for a couple of minutes and then said that they could not get the snake past the crack. I contacted the township that night and was told that in fact it was the homeowners responsibility. The public works inspector recommended another local company. I contacted the plumber (D. Burgos Plumbing and Heating) and he sent someone out at 7:30 the next morning. Within minutes the drain was unclogged. The charge was $125. The pipe had to be replaced and I was given an appointment a few days later and the problem was fixed. When I received the bill from this plumber, I wrote a letter saying that I did not think that I should have to pay the bill as his employees were not able or perhaps willing to fix a simple problem. I received a letter back stating that the bill would be reduced from the overtime rate to regular rate saving me about $50. I wrote again (enclosing a check for the $90)) indicating that not only were the employees unable to fix the problem, but that the company lost out on the larger job and also getting me as a new customer.
Description of Work: Checked to see where the clog originated,. Told me that they could not fix the problem.
