Cesar and Joe were great! Even better was the outcome of the job. Cesar came in the fall to do two rooms and the stairs. I needed to do repairs on the floor of the third room. Given the fall weather, my search for 150 year old flooring and my schedule, it took nearly 4 months for me to complete the required repairs. I called Cesar, and he promptly worked me into his schedule. We're still talking about the great job that he and Joe did.

Cesar and Joe did a great job replacing our floors. They removed old hardwood floors, repaired a dry-rot section of the subfloor, sanded the floors and installed laminate. I wanted wood transition pieces to match my floor, but couldn't find them in stores, so Cesar made them for me. His pricing was very reasonable and he helped me with a couple of carpentry projects free of charge. I'm very happy that I found a reliable, responsive contractor who is a pleasure to deal with; needless to say, I will not hesitate to hire him again.

There were no issues. They were excellent. I would consider using them in the future.

Cesar is knowledgable and very easy to work with. He is conciencious and works diligently for the best outcome. Also, is very good about cleaning up after the work is done.

Cesar and his assistant were very professional and completed the job in a timely manner. The quality of the installation is excellent. They also allowed the proper time for the flooring to acclimate before installing and thoroughly cleaned up the work area after the job was completed. I would definitely use them again for any future flooring projects.

He gave us the quote, which, as noted above, included some important items the other guys had missed (or deliberately overlooked). He ordered the materials and delivered them to us. At that point I was going out of town for a week, and he was also, so we scheduled it a couple of days after he returned (the flooring had to sit inside the home environment for a few days to equilibrate in temperature, which precluded doing the work before I left). He came right when he said he would and we are really very pleased with the results so far. I'm writing this now, because Angie's List asked for a report--but the work isn't quite done. And in fact, therein lies a tale which I think says a lot about this guy. Because it didn't go entirely smoothly. All went well until he opened the last box of flooring, which turned out to have been damaged in shipping. Only one of the pieces inside was usable. The damage was minor on each piece, but would have been noticeable in the final result--and there wasn't enough to complete the job. Instead of compromising on quality and gerry-rigging a way to proceed anyway, he stopped and told us he'd have to get more material. When it turned out the replacement box had to be ordered, with a one-week delivery time, he came back and installed (temporarily) the damaged tiles as protection for the edges of what was already down. So right now we are waiting for delivery of the last box, and then he's going to come back and finish the job. I'm sure this is a major inconvenience and expense to him (setting up all his tools for a day is a pretty big piece of overhead) but his professionalism was evident in the way he didn't even hesitate to do it. So, while we would have naturally preferred to have the job done as scheduled, we're actually very impressed with the way in which he is handling the situation. And the part that is done is laid beautifully, with very careful attention to the details, and we're looking forward to having the last bit done. The problem certainly wasn't caused by him, but his response showed very clear evidence of his desire to deliver a quality end result. This is the kind of attitude I look for in a contractor, and I'd definitely recommend this guy.

The contact person is Cesar Abella. I spent about $2,000 on the job. The amount of money depends on the square footage that they will have to cover. So, somebody with a large square footage will get a higher bid. They will come out and give you the estimate based on the square footage and the work that needs to be done. I did not have the floors stained. I had the floors sanded and polyurethaned. They took care of my personal things. They moved everything for me. They moved the furniture and they did it all with care. Nothing was damaged. They came out when they were supposed to and they did a good job. The work was really nice. I had received two other bids and they were in line with the other companies. They were very pleasant to work with. I will use them again in the future.

Met with the owner, Cesar Abella, and got an estimate for refinishing our wood floors. He was very helpful, knowledgeable and his price was in line with the other estimates we got. It was a toss-up between him and one other firm but we chose the other firm.

After a terrible experience with a previous flooring contractor, we contacted Splinters. We were immediately impressed with Cesar's depth of knowledge of wood flooring and his professionalism. He explained in detail what he was going to do and we never felt rushed or compelled to enter into a contract with Splinters. Cesar was always punctual and called us if he was running late. He gave us several samples of stains as they would look on our floor to choose from. We are extremely happy with the results on our hardwood floor. If you are contemplating getting a hardwood floor (pre-finished or unfinished) installed, hire this company ASAP. You won't regret it.

Cesar was very helpful in explaining the options, colors and the process. He even did test patches to help us decide on the color. He always said when he was coming and he always showed up as promised. One time, he came for the next coat, but said the floor was not quite ready for the coat and then came back the next day. He kept checking to be sure we were happy with the color, etc. Very professional, very personable. We've already recommended him to a neighbor who came to look at the floor.
