+ 1 moreI use them for everything. I love them. A door that I bought from them 12 years ago had a handle that was falling off. So I called them and told them, and they were right out. He fixed the door for free. Who else does that? They just came out and fixed it for free. The seal on another window broke and I called them and they replaced the window for free. The only thing I had to pay for was labor. Some people think they're a little pricey, but you get what you paid for. The first time I called them for a leaking window, I talked to other companies, who gave me an estimate of $2,600.00. I also wanted a bigger window, but no other companies wanted to do it. I called Somerville Aluminum and they did it. He's the first person who wanted to give me what I wanted. If I'm paying for it and I'm willing to pay for it, they should at least try to give me what I wanted. Somerville Aluminum had no problem whatsoever doing that. If I had went with someone less expensive than Somerville, there's no way some other company would come back and replace my door or window for free.
Description of Work: They replaced most of my windows, my sliding glass door, my front door and they remodeled my kitchen.

+ 2 moreOur experience with Somerville Aluminum was wonderful. We had our kitchen gutted and completely remodeled. The products installed were all high quality. The workers were meticulous when installing all of the items. I would highly recommend Somerville Aluminum for home remodeling projects!
Description of Work: We had a complete remodel of our kitchen. It was gutted and remodeled. All demolition work was done and cleaned each day. I did not have to lift a finger to clean anything while the demolition was taking place. As the new kitchen was being installed, I could not have imagined how beautiful it would eventually look! The floors, cabinets, backsplash, countertop, sink, and appliances were handled with care and I was amazed by the transformation of our kitchen! I am so happy to have chosen Somerville Aluminum! I would use them again in a heartbeat! Great salespeople and their construction crew is the best! All installers were professional and did a great job! I was also impressed how they stuck to their schedule and completed all work on time.

+ -1 moreOur roof was badly damaged during Hurricane Sandy. Part of our roof was tarped and awaiting repair, but with recent heavy rain, water entered the roof from a new area, down through a crawlspace and into two bedrooms saturating carpets and walls and making it's way to our garage ceiling. I called a few roofers who were just to busy to come out right away (1 week wait minimum), but Somerville promised to be out by the end of the day. Two very nice gentlemen show within two hours of my call. We showed them where we thought the rain was entering our home and they were able to find the holes and put a temporary fix until we can get things settled with our insurance. In addition, they surveyed the rest of the roof area to make sure there were no other areas of the roof left unprotected. It's been a mess cleaning up the interior and we are so grateful that Somerville Aluminum was so responsive to our emergency. It was the best Christmas gift we got so far. Thank You!!!

+ -1 moreThey came out for the estimate very quickly after I called them. The work was completed in a day and a half. The workmen were very neat and professional. Overall the experience was great. Everyone involved was helpful and friendly. The workmen even helped us out by tacking up some siding that came loose during Hurricane Sandy just because they were up on the ladder and saw it needed to be done. I would definitly use them again.
Description of Work: We replaced the existing gutters (which were too narrow) in order to remedy icicle problems in the winter.

+ 1 moreIn the past I have had Somerville Aluminum replace all the windows in my house except the large bay window in front. They had done a quality, professional job and so I hired them to do the bay window and also put in a 4 track system with a 6" knee wall on my porch. This allows me to open it up 3/4, 1/2 or 1/4 to screens. They did find some rot in one of the headers when it was opened up and gave me an estimate right away, showing me where the issue was and what needed to be done to fix it. They also found a match to my trim and added aluminum over the headers all around the porch. Everything was caulked and they also hauled debris away and cleaned up. They did a great job. There was always a supervisor looking in on the job and a follow up call to make sure I was happy with the work. An added surprise was a nice gift basket (2) from a local wine shop.

+ 0 moreThis was a STELLAR experience and has spoiled us for any other home improvement partners!From the exploratory and estimating phase straight through the 1-day installation, the guys at Somerville Aluminum and their window crew were responsive, professional, good-humored, flexible, proactive and expert.The crew was top-notch--showed up on time, worked really hard, and kept us informed of everything along the way.As often happens, they encountered some rot under one of our old windows when removing it. They quickly brainstormed some options for us, were very candid with the pros and cons of each and the monetary impact, and fixed the problem on the spot with no fuss. They even offered to remove our ugly worn bathroom window shutters and replace them with new ones if we ran down to Home Depot to buy them! The crew made the whole day painless and fun--they are funny, hard-working, focused guys!And throughout the day, a representative from Somerville Aluminum office would stop by to check on the progress of the work and answer any questions.We were well taken care of. We'll be using Somerville Aluminum to update our kitchen next!

+ -1 moreA mediocre job with a highly inflated and changing price tag. Many blunders: Capped pipe leaked all night into downstairs laundry room, light/fan switch ruined, paint peeled on garage side of the wall. Handheld sprrayer/too short hose installed at height of the high shower head. Gaps around fixtures and drain in shower floor. Small free-standing tub and toilet placed too close to the wall. There is lots of room to do it correctly. Several floor tiles were broken. Big delays in arrival of glass -- measured incorrectly a few times. No attention to detail -- globs of caulk left on swanstone panel, splatters on cabinets and bathroom door (which was incorrectly re-installed). Left new tub dirty. Had to sweep up after them every night. Coffee stains, dirt and crumbs left on my kitchen counter. My formerly clean shelf in bathroom window (now dirty from construction debris) was shoved inside my small hall closet, crushing items on the floor. Miscellaneous wood pieces with nails sticking up were left there. Large hole was punched from shower wall through to this hall closet. They had absolutely no right to snoop among personal belongings temporarily stored in the garage. Helped themselves to a special souvenir/memento from Poland (a pristine kitchen towel, never used) in order to wipe up caulk. This was ruined. Supervisor was not always present and clearly did not oversee job properly. Asked them to leave. Had enough.
Description of Work: Rectangular shower with panels,no tiling. Small free-standing tub. New floor tiles.

+ -1 moreTHE SNOW STORM OF OCTOBER 2011 HAD MY TREE LIMBS AND TREES. CRASHING DOWN AROUND MY PROPERTY. GUTTER WAS RIPPED FROM MY ROOF AND DRAIN PIPE DAMAGES. MY LANDSCAPER REMOVED THE DOWNED TREE LIMBS AND THEN SOMERVILLE ALUMINUM WAS CALLED TO GIVE ME A PRICE ON THE REPAIRS. OTHER COMPANIES WERE CALLED BUT THEY WERE TOO BUSY TO SEE MY HOME. SOMERVILLE ALUMINUM GAVE ME A PRICE AND TWO WEEKS LATER THE JOB WAS COMPLETED. NO FUSS , NO MUSS JUST A JOB WELL DONE.
Description of Work: REPLACED 27 FOOT SEAMLESS GUTTER FLASHING AND DRAIN. THAT WAS RIPPED FROM ROOF AND ALONG SIDE OF HOUSE.

We are very pleased with the work performed and will call on Somerville Aluminum in the future for any needs in their areas of expertise.
Description of Work: Somerville Aluminum is a very professional company. We visited thier store and made an appointment for an estimate. The next day a representative came and gavr the estimate which we were very happy with. We scheduled the job, a complete tear off, and installation of a new roof with a ridge vent and eaves vents ( as our home has no eaves to speak of, a cape cod).. A small crew arrrived about 1 week prior to the re-roofing and installed a new gutter and down spout. The work began on schedule at 7:00 AM and they were completly done, with clean up and all, at 11:45 AM that morning. Every person working on the job had a specific duty and the job proceeded like a well oiled machine.

+ -1 moreWe contacted Somerville Aluminum after being frustrated by 3 other contractors who either failed to respond to our calls or, in one case, failed to show up for an appointment. We left a message for Rich, and he returned the call within a few hours and set up an appointment for an estimate. The estimator showed up on schedule, took measurements and offered a couple of options, without trying to "push" us in one direction or another. Within 24 hours we received the quote from Rich for 3 options, and we selected the one that best fit our budget. Unfortunately we were told that it would take 2 to 3 weeks before the work could be scheduled, but, after I called to inform them that the damage had worsened (the gutter actually fell off!), they made arrangements to come out on a Saturday to do the work. 2 workers showed up as scheduled, completed the work and left the place completely clean, taking away the damaged gutter. They also installed a new elbow for the downspout which got damaged when the gutter fell and did not charge any extra. We are extremely pleased with the work done and fully intend to use Somerville again when our finances allow us to replace the remaining gutters.
Description of Work: We had a 25ft section of gutter replaced.

+ 0 moreThe estimate took about an hour. All my questions were answered satisfactorily and the estimate was reasonable. I was told that it would take a couple of weeks to get the windows fabricated. About 3 weeks later I received a call that the windows were in and we set up an appointment to install on the 20th. On the day of the installation, the installer, Pat, arrived at the scheduled time. It took about 6 hours for him to complete the whole job. At the end of it he cleaned up and left the house as it was before he arrived. Very satisfied with both the workmanship and the professionalism of the folks at Somerville Aluminum. I will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Replace 3 windows with new double hung vinyl windows. Repair leak around ground floor double window by replacing/repairing existing flashing.

The sales person explained everything that they would do, including an engineer who scoped out the project and created architecural drawings that would satisfy the building inspector. Their selection of material was large and they had just what we wanted. There was some delay in the project because the original design for the back steps needed to be changed to account for the building code. The engineer provided a new rendering and once it was approved everything went smoothly. There was a lot more labor than we originally expected but this was entirely covered by the quoted price. There were no surprises at all. The workers were extremely professional. There was no slacking and they cleaned up thoroughly each day and after completion of the job.The price was a bit higher than other contractors we solicited but we are very happy with the results. We got what we paid for and have no regrets at all. After 3 months everything is performing as expected. We have interior work we want done and, even though this is not their core business they will be first on our list to call.
Description of Work: We used their "handyman" service to install back steps and a hand rail for our existing front steps.

I was called at the early end of the range given, and set up a time for installation. The workers arrived promptly when promised, worked quickly and efficiently, and removed all debris. I could not have asked for better service or professionalism. I would recommend this company
Description of Work: Complete eplacement of gutters /w gutter guards around entire house. I particularly appreciated the lack of a hard-sell. The salesman listened to what I wanted, and gave me several alternatives to choose from. He answered directly about value vs price, and did not attempt to pressure me into purchasing more than I asked for or needed.

+ 0 moreKen, the salesman, was really good. He explained all the features of the windows and explained the warranty. He didn't pressure me to buy the windows. But, the windows are triple paned, and cost about the same as other double paned windows I found. John and Kevin, the workers, were very friendly and neat. They even vacuumed at the end of each day. They put new insulation in around the doors and windows to make them more sound proof. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: I got 6 new windows put in, a patio sliding door, a new front door entry, and french doors between the living room and the sun room.

Description of Work: They were to install transom window, double doors and storm doors.. They miscalculated measurements for transom window and cut out new opening in doorway. They cut through brickface which was not to be touched in any way. This was stipulated with salesman Ken Downing, who said doors would be installed from inside house. They were installed from outside house and I was not informed by lead technician that they were going to do this. They did sloppy job of caulking. and destroyed integrity of my home esthetically and possibly for resale value. I contacted owner David Gropper, who said he wanted to see work done. When he saw everything, all he kept saying was that everything was beautiful. I told him i should be compensated for damage to facade, which he thoroughly ignored. When I mentioned some form of litigation, he got up and left my home without another word. They were to install transom window, double doors, storm doors. They were not to touch brickface on existing building. apparently, someone miscalculated measurements for transom window, and they cut out whole different opening in my entrance including brickface, clam moldings inside doorway, leavng sloppy caulking job. No one told me they were going to do this. When I contacted owner, David Gropper, he wanted to see this work, as I told him I should be compensated for damage to my home. When he did see work, all he kept saying was that everything was beautiful. He paid no mind to my complaint about them cutting away brickface, and destroying integrity of my home esthetically, and resale value. He became obnoxious in that he didn't care about my feelings or that salesman, Ken Downing told me they would not touch brickface, and doors would be installed from inside house so as to protect brickface. Doors were installed rfrom outside, thereby ruining facade. I mentioned some form of litigation whereby he got up and left my home without another word.

+ -1 moreWe had older windows which were not good and they replaced them with new windows. It is much nicer now. I thought they were fantastic. I liked the whole job. I worked with the foreman whose name is Mike. He was very pleasant, and he stopped by to check how things are going. They were keeping me informed of everything they did. They were a little bit more expensive, but they were worth it. We actually had three inches of snow formed during that time and yet they came. They were a little bit late. Yet they came and did all the work outside with siding. Though it was bad weather they were here, and we did not have problem with them. I will definitely use them again.
