Bellari Home Remodeling

I thought I had submitted a review in 2019, but Angie's List is saying it was never completed. I met with Bob Rose from Bellari in April 2019. He was professional and honest during our conversation. He provided a prompt estimate and answered questions that I had. He also mentioned that I could go to their showroom to see different material. I ultimately did not go with Bellari. Went with someone who was a little less expensive and had done other work in the area (jury is still out if that was a mistake or not).

Bob from Bellari was punctual, honest and professional. He came out for an estimate, listened to what I wanted, and made suggestions. The next morning he emailed me an estimate for the job, with some options. He followed up, asked if I had any questions and invited me to their showroom. Unfortunately I did not go with this company because they were a little higher than I wanted to spend and I was able to get other mason and deck work from a different contractor. I would still recommend them as a company to contact for roofing and siding.

Prompt service, excellent craftmanship, punctual and finished as promised.

The design and installation went well with a small seam leak found in the manufacturers assembly process. Somerville Aluminum Company arranged to have their service department come to the job site to resolve the issue.

Excellent experience. Very good quality of work. It was a reasonable cost to repair. I called a couple of people for pricing and they were the best. Just one guy came out and took a couple hours to complete work. They left area clean.

We are multiple repeat customers of this company who have rated them very highly on other projects, unfortunately this project did not reach such a level. Communication and presentation of design options and impact of trade offs between alternatives need to be improved at the planning stages. Lack of clear presentation and generalized descriptions lead to dissatisfaction, conflict and demands to have the work redone (mirrors). Aspects of the job were very well done (electrical, cabinet, vanity, shower), others involving subcontractors used caused issues and dissatisfaction (counter top, faucet placement). It would take a forensic accountant to figure out the financial process and how a 15% discount was applied to the project. Overall there was less satisfaction with this project than any other project we have had with Somerville Aluminum.

They priced for things I did not want...new brickmold, etc...really high pricing

Again Excellent. As with past projects we have contracted with Somerville Aluminum - the installation was timely, proficiently accomplished and the service personnel very professional. The quality and level of service is what leads us back to using Somerville Aluminum for our project needs.

A salesman responded by e-mail within hours of my internet inquiry at their website. He asked for my contact number which I provided. 4 days later I missed his call and a day after that we spoke. I gave him the details of the project and he said he'd get back to me the next day about setting up an appointment after he checked his schedule. I called after 13 days when I hadn't heard from him and left a message asking if he was still interested in providing a quotation. We exchanged messages twice more by which time I had already decided on another builder. I never had an opportunity to see their products or services, but was unimpressed with their customer service.

I had a good experience with them. The installers were good, they were responsive, and they were fast in getting back to me about the estimate. I think they are very expensive but I did manage to negotiate a little bit with them since part of what they do is offer discounts to Angie's List people. I was able to compare against a couple of other vendors. I would tell others that they're good. They just have to really check the price and make sure they don't get taken.

I just have my my old entry doors replaced with custom made Provia doors by Somerville aluminum company. They did an excellent job. Everything from the start to the end went very well. Their consultant help us with detail door selection, the door were ready as promised and the installation went without a glitch. I was amazed by the quality of the installation. The installer was very detail oriented and did an excellent work. I am very happy with the final result.

I checked their showroom first. Then the salesman came to measure and gave me an estimate. He gave me a total price instead of itemized list. The total price is much better than HD and another company, so I didn't ask the list. The installation went very well. The crew was polite, hard working and cleaned after them. Their manager came a couple of time to check. The sliding door leaked at the bottom during a storm 1-2 weeks later. John came back the next day and almost reinstalled the whole door. It hasn't leaked yet. Hope not.

We are a repeat customer and have referred friends to do similar work. We are very happy with the sales staff, especially the work crew. They were punctual, efficient and did an excellent job. Even though there was a mistake with one window (wrong size), it was reordered and was done in a very short amount of time. Very happy with this company's customer service. Very professional.

We are multiple time repeat customers and again as expected the projects went very well. The materials installed were of the highest quality. The installation was professional, timely and of high quality. All of the projects were completed in one day upon receipt of the materials. The sliding bedroom window replacement was special order.

The company was great to work with. The handymen that were sent to do repairs to our siding were very polite and professional. They took the time to explain all of the issues with us in a non-condescending manner. They were also very prompt and were on the job when they said they would be. Scheduling the work was very easy , via the website and e-mail, with the service manager. I would highly recommend Somerville Aluminum for all home improvement needs.

Their price was a little high but they do quality work and I would use them again.

They were very prompt, clean, very organized and very professional. We went to their show room and it is nice and very nice people. So all positives on that front.

It was excellent! The doors are beautiful! They provided good installation. This is the second time I've used them. Around nine years ago I had them do siding and they did excellent job then as well. They clean up after themselves and it was a good experience.

We had a great experience! Their product was superior to everyone else’s. Our house was especially challenging, as we were going from a Tudor look with stucco on it, our fireplace was in a strange spot, and it’s a complex layout. They definitely took pride in their craftsmanship and they even worked on Saturdays. The end result is gorgeous and neighbors constantly comment about how impressive it is. The craftsmanship is unbelievable and the cleanup was spotless. Every step of the way he asked me if I was happy – and I’m absolutely happy. It’s perfect and was worth every penny! The project manager came out several times to ensure that we were completely happy.

Have had many problems early on primarily due to the lack of dimensional stability of the plastic frames. Also, the raising an lowering mechanism has given numerous problems due to parts embrittlement and breakage. Somerville Aluminum did little to compensate us or correct the problems.

We hired Sommerville Aluminum because of their reputation both on this list as well as other reviews that we read. We realized that they were likely more expensive than most but the quality of their work as well as responsive customer service reviews were important to us. My fiance and I are out of the home for 14 hours a day during the week and we wanted to get the job done and done right. We contacted Sommerville in May, chose all of our colors, made the downpayment and about two weeks later, work begun. By the first week in June, the entire exterior of our home had been replaced and looked great. Our experience with the home exterior team fabulous. Joe and his team were punctual, hard working professionals who really made our home look fabulous. They made suggestions, pointed out other issues that we may want to deal with (such as replacing light fixtures), and worked to get the job done in the two weeks that were originally estimated for the job. Now, comes the negative -- while we were picking out the siding, we also decided to redo our porch columns and railings. We were told at the time that the railings would likely take 2 weeks longer so were expecting that job to be finished in mid-June. Well here we are in mid-August and our railings still aren't installed. We ordered the railings and columns at the same time that we ordered everything else. The columns were done in mid-June. Since then, we have been told -- the measurements that were taken for the original railings were done using the measurements with the old columns/posts in place (despite the fact that I was home that day and actually told the person taking the measurements that the old columns/bases were going to be removed/redone) and that led to a 2 week delay; -- after trying to contact Jim Rutar multiple times over multiple days by text and telephone at the number he provided and was on his card (who introduced himself to me on the first day of siding work as our project manager and that he would be our contact for the entire job) to no avail, talking with Frank multiple times and calling Frank one last time only to be told that we needed to speak with yet another person, the railing was scheduled to be installed on Thursday, August 7th. -- August 7th comes and my fiance (who is home waiting for the railing to be installed) is told that one of the workers who is supposed to install the railing called in sick and so the railing won't be installed on Thursday. Luckily, my fiance was able to be home on Friday, August 8th. -- Next morning, the workers show up on time and pull the railings out of the box and instead of the bone/off white color that we ordered in mid-May, the railings are white. Great. Now we are approximately 8 weeks past the estimated time that all of this work was supposed to be done. Now mind you, we have been given many, many excuses for why the railings take so long, one of which is that the bone color for the railings is only powder coated on Fridays at the place where Sommerville orders them. So with my fiance really upset on the 8th, he is told that Sommerville can have them powder coated on Monday and then installed on Tuesday. So, uh, what happened to the "they only powder coat this color on Fridays and that's why it's taking so long" excuse? So either the contractor isn't exactly telling the truth or someone else isn't. Anyway, we were promised they would "make it right." I was interested to see how they would "make it right" because unless they had a time machine, how could they "make it right." Railings were finally installed on August 15th. They look great. Two and a half months after the house was supposed to be finished. And it's a shame, because we wanted to do the basement, two bathrooms and our kitchen over the next year. And we were hoping that Sommerville would be able to do the work. Gotta rethink that one now. Very disappointing. Bottom line -- the people who actually do the work are FABULOUS -- meticulous, punctual, helpful, etc. Project management/management, uh, not so much. (Oh, and I guess Somerville doesn't have a time machine because no one tried to "make it right.") UPDATE: Given the quality work they had done before (despite the communication issues), we went back to Sommerville for an estimate for an approx 20X20 room (tiled floor and 2' up wall, drop ceiling, wrap columns, high hat lighting and 3 new small windows) room with one smaller room attached (10X10 room with kitchen cabinets, sink and space for dish washer) in our basement. This would finish about 1/3rd of the basement. Once again we chased for information. We were told we'd have an estimate a few days after the contractor visited our home. We called 6 days later and got a message that the person was meeting with their "outdoor living" person who was super busy (not sure why the outdoor living person needed to be involved since it was our basement) and that we would get a call in a couple of days. We waited a week to hear back from the project organizer before calling again (now almost two weeks later). We left a message and when the project manager called back a few minutes later, were given an estimate of $65,000 which far surpassed our expectation. Between the continued chasing for information and the estimate, we called back and said the estimate was too high and we were looking elsewhere.

A technician came out to assess the repairs needed; informed the manager, who quoted a price and gave me an approximate date to make repairs of two weeks; Two weeks later the manager called and we set a date for the following week. Technician and handyman were ten minutes early and completed the work in a few hours. The handyman left a little bit of a mess behind, but I will let that go because in started to downpour. I will definitely use their services again; very professional and reliable.

!Joe came to the house in early May and we discussed the work to be done. Joe took a long time, looking at the existing deck, determining what he thought should be done -- just taking time to look at, and think about the job. We originally requested that they only replace a part of the deck, and that's how the job was written up. However, after a few weeks, we spoke with Joe and both decided that the entire deck should be replaced. The work started on June 18, 2014 and was completed on July 17, 2014. The guys showed up just about every day until the work was done. The team, with Martin as the stand-out, did an excellent job. Martin was a perfectionist and did a beautiful job laying the boards, installing the railings, etc. Rather than simply re-building everything exactly as it had been, the guys worked with us during the rebuild, to determine the best design for the new deck. We replaced an existing wall with railing, and another with a white privacy wall. We also updated the design to include LED lighting. Only one issue came up. A couple of guys installed the pillars/supports for the pergola, and they were not placed as we wanted them. The deck is sort-of shaped like the bow of a boat, but instead of rounded, it's shaped like a hexagon. We figured the pillars would be placed pointing out, squared to each point of the hexagon. Instead, they were turned this way and that. We kept looking at the pillars to try to figure out what the guys were thinking when they installed them, to no avail. The pillars were firmly attached to the pergola structure, so we worried about the additional work needed to change. However, after a few days consideration we decided we HAD to ask to have the pillars moved. We spoke with Martin and he agreed that the pillars were not placed correctly; and he made quick work of taking down, and re-placing each one. The guys had to wrap some existing wood with aluminum. We wondered how they were going to wrap it because it wasn't a simple shape -- but they figured it out and did a beautiful job! Overall, we were really happy with Somerville Aluminum and the work crew. The new deck turned out beautifully! We had family and friends over to show it off, and everyone loved it! I would definitely have Somerville Aluminum do other jobs at our home, if needed.

From first contact to last, I was impressed with the professionalism of Somerville Aluminum's personnel. The gentlemen who came to the house to assess our needs and provide an estimate was on-time, courteous, and kept his sales pitch to a minimum. The gentleman who came to do the measurements was communicative and provided an accurate description for the next steps. The crew who removed the old window and installed the new one was courteous, efficient, skilled, and cleaned up after themselves so well that I would not have known they were here at all had I not been in the house with them. I am very pleased with our new window and highly recommend this provider.
