Stellar work. We woke up to a freezing house, due to our furnace's pilot light going out and refusing to re-light after multiple tries. We have two small children in the house so we needed prompt service. We called Mr. Falco based on Angie's list reviews. He picked up the phone right away and said he could be there in 15 minutes. He arrived in less than 10, and had the furnace working in less than 45 minutes -- overall, less than an hour passed between when we called and when he completed the job. He was polite and respectful and even came back a few minutes later to thank us for the modest tip we added on to his bill. Will definitely use again in the future.
Description of Work: Fixed an unresponsive pilot light on our furnace.

Thanks giving night my smoke alarm started going off saying there was a fire. I ran downstairs to the basement door and I couldn't see to the bottom of my stairs. I called 911. By the time the fire department came the smoke/steam had mostly cleared out. One of the fireman told me that my furnace had probably cracked and he had heard good things about Falcon plumbing. That was the first time I actually used Angies list. They had a good rating so I called them up. Bill said they were already booked Friday but could do it on Saturday. Bill came out to my house to look at the furnace. I told him I had a baby in the house and he went back to his shop and came back with this really nice electric heater to keep me through the night. They came first thing Saturday AM and stayed the whole day! They cleaned up their mess and even painted all the pipes they had replaced. They also cleaned up some wood that was on the floor where the old furnace was. Instead of just leaving that, they replaced it and put down new paver stones in it's place. It looks very nice!! They also went out and took care of the permits. They did a really fantastic job and I would use them again in a heartbeat!

Owner Bill picked up the every call I made and answered questions I had. He was the first out of five vendors to come to measure/survey and provided the estimate on the spot. His price is the lowest among the five using Weil-Mcain CGA5. His crews are very professional and completed the work in one day, and left the work area cleaner than it was. :) I was very happy for the service and recommended him to my mother-in-law who used Bill for her two steam boilers tune-up/yearly maintenance; Bill even gave her discount. I had asked Bill to come back in spring to provide estimated cost of two central AC replacement.

We used Falcon to replace our Burnham oil furnace with a Weil-McLain gas furnace 300,000 BTUs after interviewing three others firms. Weil-Mc Lain is preferred by PSE&G. All four were going to install the very same model of the Weil-McLain gas furnace, but three were at a significantly greater cost to me. Savings were measurable, thousands of dollars. Falcone ?checked out? with the Manufacturer, BBB, Angies List, State Plumbing Board and Township Zoning Office, ?they do lots of boilers in Town?. Falcon made a firm, fair estimate, started and finished the installation, as scheduled. Work area was clean. Falcon removed the old oil furnace carting it away, ran a new gas line and installed the new gas furnace. Permits were issued, all building, plumbing, and electrical inspections made. Falcone also arranged for disposition of the oil tank, separately. So, an informed consumer will learn this stuff is highly regulated and inspected, you don?t mess with gas. And, you will also learn that the larger regional plumbing & heating firms, that are buying out the small proprietors, charge more for the very same products and services that Falcone provides. Bill Falco of Falcon Plumbing has my highest recommendation. Bill's professionalism and craftsmanship is superb. He was always available to take my calls (even my quick question about my new furnace 10pm!), willing to explain the process and pricing, flexible with my time constraints, and extremely thorough. He coordinated the removal of asbestos and had a great contractor come in for that. And he came back to my home to inspect all radiators and walk me through maintenance issues. On a personal note, he is also kind and very communicative. A pleasure to work with! The job was done beautifully (who knew I'd ever say a new furnace was beautiful!). He takes great care in installation and uses top line furnaces. He beats his competitors at pricing and yet the job is still top quality. If you're looking to replace a furnace in the Bloomfield and surrounding areas, Bill Falco is a great candidate to get the job done right and at a fair price.

Bill Falco of Falcon Plumbing replied to my inquiry within a few hours. I explained what was needed and type of boiler at the home of older relative. Asked Bill if his company can either provide specific time appt. or can they work on Saturday. Explained I need to be there as older relative often away with family. Bill said, how about this Saturday! He said between 10:00 and 11:00 ad he would call 45 minutes before getting there. Checked the entire system; explained how system works; flushed upper and lower parts of boiler and showed me what is needed during the season. Everything checked out well and system working great. I wll use Bill for all service works at this home in the future. A real professional!

On Oct. 27, 2015 I contacted Falcon through Angie's List email. Explained that I needed a new furnace and wanted central A/C installed. Falcon responded via email saying to call the office and schedule an estimate date. I called the office and spoke to Mr. Falco, he said he would check his schedule and call me later that evening to set up a date to come for an estimate. I haven't heard from him since.

Falcon installed a new steam boiler (domestic heating boiler) in our small 4-bed colonial early in 2014. We have experienced multiple issues: | |* Falcon did not "skim" the boiler to remove shipping oil from it as you are supposed to do, so whenever we switch it on our home smells of oil. We asked them to do it -- this is even in the installation manual that they left with us -- but they refused, saying it would clear with flushing. After a whole year it still hasn't; though it is better, the smell is still noticeable, even after flushing the system many, many times. We wonder if it is possible that some pipe grease was dropped into the boiler by the installers too. | |* After installation the boiler had two kinds of leaks: gas and water. We had PSEG come and fix the gas leak by tightening the joint (seriously, how could they leave a joint with a gas leak?). Water quickly started leaking from the upright steam outlet pipe and caused rusting on lower parts of the boiler. It was a very pretty unit when installed, now not so much (ask us for photos). Even after coming twice to fix the leak they did not succeed -- it still leaks. | |* The boiler Falcon installed is of a greater capacity in BTU than required by our home, so replacing a 50+ year-old unit converted from oil to gas with this new one has saved us zero dollars in gas consumption. So much for the efficiency gains we had hoped for. | |* Falcon insisted on replacing a perfectly good existing wall-mounted thermostat with an inferior model that was smaller, for an extra $150 if I remember correctly. We now need a backing plate to hide the margin. The cheap plastic buttons on the newly-installed one sometimes stick "on", so when you go to increase the temperature setting my a couple of degrees it can keep incrementing after you walk away. | |This was not as professional a job as we had anticipated, especially since our decision to go with Falcon was based exclusively on Angie's List recommendations. This experience does not reflect well on Angie's List either: how useful is it, really? | |-Mark | |p.s. I cannot remember the date of last contact. Update, Sunday October 25 10:15 am: Bill Falco called me at my home with an aggressive complaint about my AL review. I was very unhappy about this and against my better judgement I entered into a discussion with him. He seemed to think I have some kind of vendetta against him personally -- but what I have is a leaky boiler and a smelly house (as I wrote before, much better now but we suffered through an entire winter with the oil smell. This was not a matter of sensitivity: my entire family had headaches because of it). At this point, I am more disillusioned with Angie's List than with Bill; give me a couple of days to regain my composure and I will reconsider his offer to come look at it again.

I realized water heater was broken as a result of no hot water & flooded basement. Called several plumbers, left messages with a few to call me back, some furnished extremely high estimates & others were not available to come for a couple of days. I found Falcon Plumbing on Angie's list and reviewed their impressive website and customer reviews. I contacted this company and the owner answered on the first ring. I explained what I needed, he took my number and promised to call back. He called an hour later, obtained the details, my address, told me the price of the job and promised to send technicians out the next morning to install the new water heater. Mr. Falcon called the following morning early to let me know when I could expect his workers. Tim & Daniel arrived as promised; both professional & respectful and provided a thorough explanation of the work that was to be performed. After installation, the work area was cleaned and the old heater was removed. I must admit I was completely blown away by this company. There is no comparison to their professionalism, expertise, and great customer service. Payment was not accepted until Mr. Falcon was assured that I was comfortable the job was completed to satisfaction which was very much appreciated.

Called the owner Bill Falco. He always answers the phone himself. I had worked with this company last year and I was very pleased with their installation of ductless cooling panels. The new boiler was a completely unexpected expense and I had to be careful what I spent. Bill came to the house and assessed the set up and quoted me 200 less than the other estimate I had gotten. I was really pleased to be working with them again and so needed no further estimates. Bill and the crew came on the day agreed upon, and everyone was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. When the installation was done they advised me about maintaining the furnace and answered all my questions. The price was as agreed, no surprises. They urged me to call anytime with questions. The town inspector complimented the job they had done. Bill called to follow up and all was fine. Highly recommend this company. My second five star review for them!

We own a very old and challenging 2 family duplex with attic space over only part of the house. Not only did Bill find a way to access all areas of the house, his price came in cheaper than another estimate for only part of the house. Cliff and his crew did an outstanding installation job and everything is working perfectly . The only problem we had was that one of the 2 compressors was a bit noisy. Bill and Cliff quickly got an American Standard rep on site and arranged a replacement. We have also used Falcon 3 times before for furnaces on different properties and my sons have used him as well. All jobs have always gone perfectly and passed township inspections. You will not find a more honest and dependable contractor.

I called several companies and received 6 different estimates. Falcon plumbing was not only the lowest, Bill Falco explained in detailed what the problem was and what needed to be done to correct the problem and future problems. Most of the companies simply said "your boiler is shot, you need a new one" He also assessed that my house size did not warrant the size boiler I had (i.e. I could go with a smaller boiler). I was surprised with how patient he was and how he really took the time to explain things to me to help me in the future and to answer all of my questions. I would definitely use Falcon Plumbing & Heating again.

I called Bill Falco to get an estimate for a boiler and hot water heater. First of all, he always answers the phone himself. I made an appt with him and he was on time and very courteous. He gave me a written estimate on the spot and didn't try any tricks to get me to sign the contract. I also couldn't believe how reasonable the price was. I had.to cancel the job about 5 times due to another contractor taking too long to install a foundation floor in the basement which that job needed to be done first, of course, before Bill could do his installations. I apologized over and over to Bill, but he said not to worry and that he was more concerned about me because I was in the cold house a lot while the other contractors were working in the basement. What contractor in this day and age worries if their customer is cold or not? Finally, I called Bill that I was sure that he could do the job. He met with me again and then the work was completed the very next day. The workers let me know during the day what they had accomplished and what they were going to do next. They cleaned up afterward and thanked me for the opportunity. Bill had pulled a permit to do the job and the inspector told me that any of Bill's work is always done perfectly and without any problems. I understand now why he has such a great reputation and he definitely deserves it. I will refer him as often as I can. Bill's work

The owner, Bill, is a pleasant person with comprehensive knowledge in connection with his trade. His work proposal included a quality brand gas-fired water boiler, Williamson-Thermoflow, setup to service five heating zones, at a reasonable price. Although Bill sincerely wanted to satisfy my customer needs, he relied on an installation crew that was managed by a worker named Cliff. I couldn't rate all of the service categories as an "A" because I was initially told that the installation of my new boiler would take no more than 2-days when in fact, it took weeks. The delay was caused by some "unforeseen" problems during installation which should have been resolved in much less time than it actually took. When Cliff tested each heating zone with its respective thermostat, he discovered that the electrical connection of two thermostats failed to control the heat from the boiler. The two thermostats in question worked properly with my old boiler in controlling the heat, along with controlling the air conditioning system for the same two zones, but Cliff initially didn't fully understand the problem. Temporarily, in order to heat the two zones in the house, Cliff had to leave the zones on at all times for over a week. When the rooms got too hot, I had to go down to the basement to manually turn off the zones; then if the rooms got too chilly, I had to do the same to turn on the zones. Both Cliff and Bill recommended that a wireless thermostat be installed for each of the two heating zones. I didn?t like their recommendation because I didn?t want to have two different looking thermostats side by side on the wall in each zone; one controlling the heat and the other controlling the air conditioning. I insisted that the cause of the problem be found and rectified. Unlike my other three thermostats, the two in question were not wired directly to the boiler, but went through an electrical control panel in the attic where the air handler for the air conditioner is located. To learn more, Cliff eventually called the manufacturer of the thermostats, Honeywell, and learned that the two existing thermostats were apparently wired to work with each of the separate zone pumps on my old boiler, but not capable of working with each newly installed relay boxes on the new boiler which has one main pump for all zones. Actually, without consideration of the problematic wiring of the two thermostats, the new boiler with five electrical relay boxes and one main pump is much more energy efficient than my old boiler with five pumps. However, if I knew at the beginning of the job that I had to choose between five pumps using all of the existing thermostats or five relay boxes with the addition of two thermostats, either hard wired or wireless, personally I would have chosen the former. Although, my decision would have also been guided by any significant difference in cost, if any, of each type of boiler setup. In the end, without the option of changing the boiler setup to using five pumps, I had no other choice but to accept having two separate thermostats, one controlling the heat and the other controlling the air conditioning, for each of the two zones. According to Bill, the installation of the two wireless thermostats increased the cost of the job by approximately $450. He asked me to split the additional cost with him, but I declined. Bill proved to be fair-minded in covering the entire cost without argument. There was another issue that I brought to Cliff?s attention more than once. About a week after the new boiler was working, it started making an annoying high pitched whistling sound every time any of the zones called for heat. I and other household members complained about the sound which could be heard in other rooms in the house. Cliff downplayed my complaint and tried to explain the high pitched sound away. He speculated that the sound was related to the main gas flow to the boiler which decreased by the increased use of heat in my neighborhood as temperatures became colder outside. Without any resolution from Cliff, I personally brought the problem to the attention of Bill who came to my house to assess the situation about 10 days later. Bill found the source of the high pitched whistling sound coming from a box-type part inside the boiler. The part was ordered and Bill installed it two weeks later which resolved the problem. Bill made all the arrangements for a final inspection with my township?s building department. All went well with the plumbing, electrical and fire inspections. In fact, one of the inspectors was so impressed by the installation and cost that he made special note of Falcon Plumbing and Heating!
Description of Work: Primary job was to replace my 30-year old gas-fired water boiler (5-zones) with new boiler, Williamson-Thermoflo, GWA Series 2, 175,000 BTU input, which included replacement of copper pipes above unit. Secondary job was to replace the small copper water tube of humidifier connected to my gas-fired hot air furnace which heats other areas of my home.

I called on Monday morning and made an appointment with Bill for Friday morning. An hour after the appt time had passed I called. Bill apologized and said he could not explain why he forgot. He said he would see what he could do and call me back. I did not hear back from him on Friday, but thought I would surely receive a call by Monday. A week has passed and I have not heard from Bill or anyone in his company. This was an unexpected and disappointing encounter considering the positive reviews, his Super Service Award and his professional and welcoming website.

Bill was absolutely great! He came out the same day I a called him and gave an honest quote and professional advice. Prior to contacting him, I had three other quotes and his price, quality of service and knowledge can't be matched. The workers were here promptly at 9 am on the day of service and finished at 7 pm. Immediately after the installation, one of the workers walked me through how the system operates, provided the paperwork and answered all the questions I had. Later that evening, I hear a knock on the door. It was one of the workers that came back because they forgot to check to make sure our gas stove was functioning properly. How many people would do that? When they left, everything was put back into place and clean. In fact if it wasn't for the new furnace and water heater, I wouldn't have known they even came. Above all they were all friendly, courteous and professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area.

From my first conversation with the owner, Bill Falco, I knew this job would be in good hands. When I called, Bill answered the phone himself and came over the next day to assess the job. He spent all needed time to look at where all the units should go for maximum comfort and efficiency. This visit was not a " drive by." Work started promptly and Bill introduced me to his workers, Cliff and Daniel. They were here a couple days and were responsive to all my questions and concerns. They showed me how to access the filters on the units for cleaning. Cliff even called me afterward to make sure I understood how to use the remote cause I had some questions about it. ( I.m techno-challenged). All work was extremely neat and professional. There were no surprises with the bill. the price quoted was the price charged. I will gladly call Falcon Plumbing for all plumbing issues in the future as well as furnace maintenance. The panels are working great. I am so happy I had the system installed and so happy I asked Falcon plumbing to do the job,

When I met Bill I'd already had a few quotes lined up. I could tell from the price range Bill quoted me and how he handled himself in my home that he was nothing short of professional. This is the guy you want to work with.
Description of Work: My wife, 7 month old son and I moved into a major fixer in Montclair and on the first night had no heat. Bill was able to get the old furnace out, pull the permits, and get an entirely new hot water heater and furnace installed in one day! He even came back numerous times to make sure the radiators were functioning with the new unit. Absolutely top notch service.

Bill and his team from Falcon Plumbing and Heating were fantastic. They not only provided me with the most competitive quote, but took the time to explain to me what they were going to do and how that differed from the options other plumbers had provided. Bill was able to quickly secure all necessary permits and installed my new boiler the same day. His team was quick, clean and very professional. I highly recommend him to anyone considering a conversion to natural gas.

My father in law was a prominent contrctor who passed aay unexpectedly earlier this year. Whenever I had a costly household project, I would turn to my Father in law for guidance. Not too long ago, my boiler after 25 + years broke down. Finding a good & fair plumber became a challenge because I no longer had my father in law's guidance to refer me to a good plumber who was not out take advantage of my bank account when pricing a job. I was refrred to Angie's List from my colleague @ work. I received 5 estimates from different plumber I contacted on Angie's List. Falcon Plumbing & Heating provided the best estimate and was even willing to compete against the other estimates I receives from previous plumbers. Bill Falco is the owner of Falcon Plumber & Heating and was very polite, courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. Falcon Plumbing does offer several poplular boiler brand names, but Bill suggested by saving me money to replace my old boiler unit with a brand name, Williamson Thermo-flo. I have to admit, I was skeptical on the product brand because my previous boiler unit was a Weil-McLain but I will confess, the Williamson brand boiler is efficient and warms up my house just like my previous boiler. I have no complaints. The crew who installed the new boiler were great, clean, and did the job within a day. Whenever I have a plumbing related project in the new future, I will contact Falcon Plumbing and Heating. Thank you Bill Falco for saving me money and performing a tremendous job Lucien Severe & Family Orange NJ

Bill and his employees were all courteous and professional. They were prompt, kept me informed of the progress and made sure that everything met code. They came back to fix everything that the town inspector found (side note: in New Jersey, contractors have to now install theft caps that are supposed to prevent anyone with a standard set of tools from taking the caps off of the refrigerant and causing the gas to vent into the atmosphere (check http://noventcaps.com/ for what I mean). This is new and your town inspector might fail you for this). I would recommend using them, and I would do so again.
Description of Work: Bill Falco came out and did an estimate of putting in a new furnace, a/c, coil, and fan for the entire house. His workers then came on time on the set date, removed the old HVAC and then installed the new, all in about 1.5 days labor. Bill followed up personally to make sure we were satisfied.
