I cannot say enough positive things about Josh and Pitstop. Far exceeded my expectations. I have never come across a more reliable, more knowledgeable, more hard-working, friendly professional in all of the years I have had work done on my house and property. Truly a gem. So honest and fair and good at what he does. He fixed a number of appliances, explained in detail the problems, and even showed me in the computer of my Bosch dishwasher the burnt-out piece that caused the problem. He also explained in detail the problems and solutions to the other appliances. I will never ever consider going anywhere else. And I pray that Josh stays local because I have never met such a skilled person that I can wholeheartedly trust like this. My sincere thanks go out to Josh.
Description of Work: The initial visit was to assess the problems with our Viking range, Bosch dishwasher and Sharp microwave. The follow-up visit was to fix the appliances with the parts once they came in.

Technician diagnosed problem as a rotted (rubber) drainage tube. I was told if I was "handy" I could fixe the issue myself - buy a rubber stopper and plug the leak while eliminating the drainage tube (not really necessary.) If I wanted their company to do the repair they couldn't do this "work around" and would formally have to replace the drainage tube. Technician had no idea if tube was sold as a replacement part or how much it cost. After paying for the diagnosis, at that point I had no idea what the next course of action was. Were they going to contact me with an estimate? When I called their number I got a recording to leave a message to schedule an appointment. I felt as if I was chasing them down to the work and get paid for it. Went with another repair service who actually wrote up a repair estimate, ordered the part and did the entire job for less than Pitstop charged me for the diagnosis appointment.

Response from Pitstop Appliance Repair
Hello, You had a rotted hose causing the leak. We advised you that this was not a common problem so we didn't carry the part with us, and that we would do the research and email the quote later that day- letting you know how quickly we could get the part and what it would cost. It was suggested to you that in the mean time, so that you could use your washing machine, you could remove the hose and simply cap it off with a rubber plug available at a hardware store. We let you know that the machine would work fine capped off and that if you desired, you could just do that and not have to spend the money for us to order and repair by replacing the hose. We mentioned to you that if you didn't see the estimate in your email, to check your spam folder as some times it goes in there. Did you look there? We emailed you the repair estimate the same evening, and resent it again the next day. We never heard back from you. You say that you called, but you never left a message. You also could have emailed us, but you never did. We would have been more than happy to repair your machine for you, but based on our conversation at the house, it seemed like you were going to cap off the hose. We never heard back from you after sending the repair quote twice. Our suggestion about the capping was NOT because we did not want to do the repair for you. It was helpful advice about how you could save money and time by a quick simple solution. As a business, we stand behind our repairs- so we only use factory parts and repair the machines in the correct way. But if there is another option for a customer that they can do themselves..we discuss that with them, but explain that repairs like that aren't something we can do as a business.

Josh called to ask if, as he was done with his prior appointment, he could come earlier than our scheduled appointment time which was fine with me. He was courteous, knowledgeable and seemed to work very efficiently. I'd recommend the service to a friend.

These guys will be on my speed-dial. I made my appointment online at 2pm for a 4pm service THAT DAY. I received a call from Josh not even 5 minutes later, saying he was in the area and asked if he could he stop by earlier than 4. I was home so, I said 'sure!' He was there within 15 minutes and diagnosed and fixed my dryer in no-time. He was very polite and extremely knowledgable. I have definitely found my appliance repair shop.

The first visit and stove repair went well but they failed to follow up on a part they ordered for dishwasher. I did not hear from them for two weeks and I had to contact them. They then followed up with their supplier who had the part in stock and eventually came and completed a satisfactory repair on the dishwasher.

Great; the pitstop repair guy was knowledgeable and called when he would be later than the 2 hour window; when the problem was confirmed, the repair man gave my husband a reduced rate because he hadn't shown up in the two hour window that was promised. My husband was impressed with this business acumen.

Josh arrived within the time that was arranged, despite the inclement weather. He took his time to explain everything that could be the problem with my washer that would not turn on. He informed me that the computer was damaged, and it would need to be replaced to further diagnose the washer, but he noted he was sure it was the computer that was the issue. When I informed him that I intended to replace the computer myself, not only did he tell me the best place to get the computer, he showed me step by step how to do the job myself. When the part arrived, I replaced the computer but still had an issue. I emailed Josh to inform him of the error message and he promptly called me back with a list of possible problems and how I could fix them myself. I went back into the machine, found the issue (an improperly connected wire in the computer), and the machine has been running perfect ever since. Josh was honest, thorough and it was clear that he was about customer service and satisfaction. He now has a customer for life.

Problem: Our dishwasher stopped mid-cycle. No lights and the dishwasher was unresponsive to any of the control buttons. Correction: Josh identified that the electrical connections on the 8-yr. old dishwasher had come loose. He fixed that and everything appears to be working correctly. In retrospect, I might have been able to identify and correct the problem, but my three hours (and possible damage I might have created in the process) were better spent elsewhere. Very satisfied with the value of the service and the professionalism.

He really had a challenge with this thing and he found a way to solve it. We have an exhaust hood and all of the lights went out at the same time and we couldn’t get the bulbs out of that thing. He had to come out and find a way to get all the bulbs out and then to put in the mechanism so if they ever blow again, we can get to them.

Totally satisfied from web reservation, confirming phone call, on time arrival, site repair and closure. Before starting work, technician patiently listened to our explaination. Inspecting stove, he gave us options and causes. Friendly and professional [knew his stuff and explained so we'd understand] Cost was provided with none of the usual delay. Work area kept clean and completed timely. Tested all functions of stove, asked if we had any questions. The service call fee is separate from the repair. I see this as a positive because the work and supplies are not padded to cover this. Pitstop is now our go to small/large appliance technician.

Pitstop came to house as scheduled. The guy looked at the dryer and told us he couldn't fix the problem because it wasn't a dryer problem but a vent problem. He told us it's either a really simple solution or a really bad solution (new dryer) and suggested a "test" for us to try on our own. This took no more than 5 minutes. After which, the technician walked around the rest of our house and gave us his opinion on the other appliances in our home. It was a nice gesture and I guess made us feel a little better that we paid $75 for 5 minutes and no fix to the dryer. I think we would have appreciated a little more diligence from Pitstop's mgmt to assess whether they were the right company to fix the problem before sending the technician out. We spent $75 for some insight from the technician and then wound up fixing the problem ourselves (ultimately the vent coil was too long which was an easy fix on our own).

We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with our service, although we are unsure what we could have done any better. You made an appointment online with a complaint of your dryer that was not drying your clothing. As you said, the technician arrived on time as requested. The technician inspected your dryer and advised you that there was nothing wrong with the dryer and your issue was caused by the venting in the wall. Being that some customers are skeptical of this answer, he suggested that you could run a load of clothes with the vent disconnected and see that the machine worked as it should. You confirm this by saying "the vent coil which we fixed ourselves." You then say- "we paid $75 for 5 minutes and no fix to the dryer." To be fair to us, we can't fix the dryer if it isn't broken, and the service call covers the time it takes us to drive to your house (which in your case was a 40 minute drive to get there). You then say- "we would have appreciated a little more diligence from Pitstop's mgmt to assess whether they were the right company to fix the problem before sending the technician out." But you scheduled for a dryer issue. There was no way for us to know the dryer was fine and it was a venting issue until the technician arrived and tested the machine.

I chose a provider for appliance repair and we spoke over the course of 7 emails. When I first wrote the repair person, I told him that I needed some repair on my kitchen aid product and provided them with the model number and they then replied and said that they would do some research and give me a price, estimate, timeline and asked more details regarding the issue. We had spoken back and forth about the issues that I was having with my circuit in my kitchen aid product. The first visit, they had already ordered a heater kit and came over and put it in and the total was $376.57, which was what I expected. When the man was done and we turned back on the circuit breaker the blinking lights were still on as when he arrived and he looked at me and said, “Well geesh it seems like you asked us to get the wrong part”. I stated that I don’t know what you mean and showed him the emails him and I exchanged. He referenced to the first email and said that I would have to pay for it and said he would see what they would do about getting a new key pad. I am flabbergasted that he wants me to pay the $376.57 and he did not fixed the issue and I have also already paid a service fee. I was not given the sense of how they would resolve this but I did pay them and he left and made me feel as if the problem was my own. I would use this company again if I had a representative that had better customer service skills.

Response from Pitstop Appliance Repair
We were contacted by this customer through Angie's List. The first sentence of her email was- "my kitchen aid dishwasher needs a new circuit board." and she included the model #. We responded to her and asked- "What makes you think the control board needs to be replaced? Who did the diagnosis?". She responded that she had researched online, and done some testing herself. She had read the service manual for the dishwasher which includes all the diagnostic testing procedures. Normally we go to a customers house and diagnose the appliances but there are occasionally customers who insist that they already know what the problem is and just want us to order the part so they don't have to have 2 appointments and take 2 days off of work. Although this isn't typical, some customers are insistent and we try our best to keep all of our customers happy. The circuit board for her dishwasher comes as a kit because the manufacturer redesigned it for a heating issue with the drying cycle program and it included a new, different heating element as well. We installed the parts as she had requested and ordered. When the unit was turned back on, the issue still happened which the tech determined to be a faulty touchpad. We told the customer that we would order the touchpad and return again to install it for free, no further labor charge, no further service call. We would eat the cost of the time, fuel, tech wages, etc. The situation is unfortunate, but we have only done exactly what this customer has asked of us. Had we said that we wouldn't order the control board as she wanted, she would have been upset about that and taking 2 days off of work and could have left us a bad review either way. :( For clarity, the $376 was the total including the service call, parts, labor and tax.

Evaluated the fundamental problem with our dishwasher, which had been installed improperly by Home Depot. Home Depot had also supplied incorrect part ID numbers for the replacement part, so Pitstop Appliance sourced the accurate part, ordered it and installed it promptly. They were great and I would definitely recommend them to anyone in the area.

Pitstop Appliance Repair went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction throughout the process. There were numerous issues throughout the process (none of them Pitstop's fault), but they were understanding, professional, and patient with each. First, there was no shutoff valve behind the gas appliance, which we didn't realize until they arrived to replace the part. They did not charge for the (brief) service appointment, and agreed to come back and replace the part once the shutoff valve was installed. At that point, the oven continued to not heat correctly, and we decided to replace the oven instead of pursuing future repairs. (Apparently these ovens have computer problems that can pop up without warning.) Even though we ultimately couldn't fix the oven, Pitstop was so impressively professional throughout the process, I had to write a glowing review. We will definitely continue to use them in the future, and also recommend them to our friends in the area.

We emailed and called you before 9am (check your spam folder?) to let you know the appointment would be cancelled. There is already 6-7 inches of snow on the ground. BTW- it is only 9:49am as we write this. Even if it was a sunny day, you need to be aware that it is a 2 hour appointment window as mentioned numerous times on our website. Made an appointment online which was very convienent. Was able to make appointment for the next day for a two hour window also, which was great. The guy came within the window, diagnosed the problem quickly, which was a bag clasps that got caught in pump of washing machine. He fixed it quickly and was very nice and professional. I did pay $70 for them to show up and also anoth $70 for labor. But it is expensive to have appliances fixed, so the convienence and punctuality make up for the expense.

I Made The Appointment Online To Have A Tec Come Out To Fix My Washing Machine. For The Service Call It Was $75 No Matter What, But Was A One Time Charge For a 1 Appliance Call. The Tec Came Out 2 Days Later As I Scheduled Them Too. They Gave Me A 2Hr Window For Them To Show Up, And They Came With 5Mins Left On The 2Hr Quote Stating They Were Busy Today. My Washing Machine Would Not Finish Washing Any Load And The Water Still Remained In The Machine. The Unit Was A Whirlpool Cabrio HE- Max Not Even 4 Years Old. The Tec Came In, Showed Him Where It Was, And I Continued To Do What I Was Doing. Not Even 10 Mins Later The Tec Called For Me And Said He Was Done And Then Proceeded To Explain That My Drain Pump That Drains The Water In The Machine Before It Goes Into Spin Was Shot And A Pretty Common Problem When Ur Machine Goes Over 4 Year Mark. He Said He Could Not Complete Fixing The Machine Today Cause He Has To Order The Part Which Would Take Max 2 Days To Be Delivered To The Shop. He Said He Would Have To Call Me When He Got To The Shop With The Price. So While I Waited I Looked Up My Washer Model Online And Found The Certified Part For Just About $101.50 Needed To Complete The Fix. I Always Do This Cause Some Appliance Repair Places Jack Up The Price On Ordered Parts So They Can Rip You Off And Make More Money Sometimes On Fake Uncertified Parts That Are 1/2 The Price And Break 6 Months Down The Road. So When I Got The Call Back From The Tec For The Cost Of The Part He NAILED it, With The Exact Price I Found Certified (Which Was The Lowest Price I Could Find After 35Mins Of Looking. I Had Them Order It, Made A New Appointment, They Came At The Earlier Time They Quoted, Did Not Have To Pay $75 For Service Call Cause It Was Still The Same Appliance And When He Came I Thought It Was Going To Be 1Hr+ To Put In The Part. NOPE, The Tec Was Efficient And Informative And Explained Everything To Me Once He Was Done Installing The Part, O yea, Which Only Took Him 14Mins To Install The Part, Test The Machine For Correct Function, Explain It To Me And Walk Out The Door. They Were Nice, Informative, Professional, And Didn't Look Like Weird/Scummy Looking Ppl That Ppl Dont Associate With In This Area. Thanks Again Guys.
