My condo was destroyed during Sandy, and I needed everything rebuilt after the unit was gutted. Gil's crew were neat, efficient, reliable. His price was on the high end, but the workmanship was definately of superior quality. Here's the problem, and why I would never use them again: I had flooding from an upstairs neighbor, which Gil alerted me to immediately. I had my insurer come out and assess the damage (extensive - demo, mold remediation, sheetrock repair in hallway and bathroom area). I had asked Gil to open two sheetrock squares so that the inspector can inspect the damage. I was given a choice for the remodel, and Gil's estimate came in twice as high as the insurer's contractor. At this point, I chose to go with the other contractor. After I had paid this man over $25,000, Gil/Goias are now hounding me for $160 for cutting out those two sheetrock holes. Away on business, after inspecting the insurer's contractor's repair (excellent in quality as well), I noticed some original issues with Gil's work (minor paint / grout / caulking) which, if fixed, would warrant that $160 that I would otherwise need for a handyman for an hour or two of labor. Gil/Goias showed up and immediately started bad-mouthing my insurance inspector and the remediation job. He said that the paint patching (not in the area of the flooding damage) WAS subject to mold and should have been removed as well. The grout was due to 'Settling' and not his concern. And he demanded $160 for those two small holes his worker cut out (he called this demolition work). Please, save yourself one big headache, and work with someone else.

We could not have asked for better service - the whole team especially Gil were professional, courteous and respectful of our home and of our time. When they said we will be there at 8:30 they were there at 8:30. Never left a mess, job was completed on time and on budget. I highly recommend Goias Home Improvement

Gil and his staff did a great job on both my deck and front door. The deck was expected to be a tough job and they completed it as promised. Looks Great!!! Never really any issues. Any concerns were addressed immediately and I was never worried something would be left incorrect. They would not rush the job due to the heat which meant they knew exactly what they were doing. Cleaned up everything once completed and would never have known they were here. My deck and front door look fantastic Will be using them in the future!

They did a beautiful job! Eddie was the lead on the project and he and his crew were the most professional, courteous and respectful contractors I have ever dealt with. They understand attention to detail not just with the skilled work that they are doing but all the way down to the cleaning. There were some challenges due to the poor construction of the walls from the original builder of our house. Eddie was meticulous about making sure that the wainscoting was straight and he completely camouflaged the fact that the walls are so uneven. They are excellent painters as well- extremely neat and thorough. I couldn't be happier with the job that they did. At the end of day, they would clean up the area where they were working and it was immaculate. I like things clean and I fully expected to have to clean up after them every day but when I saw that they did it for me I was completely amazed to have found clean contractors. I have two small kids at home with me and having the house turned upside down for 6 days during a house project isn't easy but this crew made it perfectly manageable and frankly, delightful! I feel so lucky that I finally found reputable contractors. I will never use another company for home improvements.

They screwed up my garage and did not do it right. They were awful; the worst you could grade them.

We met with Gil and John in fall 2012 to discuss the plan and options for our kitchen remodel. They were both helpful and gave us great options at different price points. We delayed until spring 2013 and eventually started on the job in early 2012. Gil was responsive via e-mail and always accessible on the phone. The process went smoothly and we saw our entire downstairs of start to quickly transform. The end results are beautiful and we have received many compliments from friends and family. I would recommend Gil / Goias Home Improvement.

His price is not the lowest but he does the work he is supposed to do! Also, he is very neat, and the house was immaculate when he was finished. He did a great job! He moved my laundry room from the basement to the first floor. He made time for me in his schedule, and he was very good with the permits and getting the inspectors there on the job!

The job was difficult because of many rain delays but ultimately was completed and done right.

The Goias team was incredibly hard working, beginning before 8am and finishing at nearly 7pm each day. They went above and beyond the project requirements painting the trim of some surrounding areas to create a more finished look. They took the time to test and prod all the beams of the railings and boards of the deck to find soft spots. All members of the team were polite and professional. The job has been completed for about a month now and am very pleased with the finished product!

They did a good job, were on time and their price were reasonable. We were happy with their work.

The total experience with Mr. Gil Riccardo was excellent from beginning to end. He took the time to review the different components of the project carefully and thoroughly with me and offered valuable suggestions that revealed his extensive level of experience, knowledge and understanding of his trade. He presented work estimates personally and took adequate time to explain the details carefully so that all project expectations were addressed and clearly understood. Mr. Riccardo designed a work schedule for the project that completed each component on time and with high quality work. Mr. Riccardo's employees were courteous and professional, working in a neat and orderly fashion. As we planned, discussed and finalized each phased of the project Mr. Riccardo was patient and focused on performing quality work and sensitive to my interest in keeping my costs reasonable. A completely Professional experience from start to finish.

I would recommend anyone give him a shot at an estimate.

He communicated very clearly every step of the way and handled problems well. In particular, he found that one of the problems was that the wall did not have enough internal support, and advised some more work to reinforce it. The finished work looks excellent.

One year prior GOIAS did a great job installing a beautiful hardwood floor on the first floor of my home. I wrote a detailed review on that experience. As luck would have it Hurricane Sandy flooded my first floor causing all sorts of damage. The one year old floor could have possibly just be refinished however my wife and I are expecting a baby in June and I didn't want to risk mold, etc. so I opted to replace the floor. Almost one year to the day Gil and his crew, the exact same set of guys from last time came and replaced the the floor. Gil as last time was easy to work with. Money needs to spent in so many places that I am doing my best to minimize all expenses. Gil understood that and I did the demo work removing the floor which reduced the cost a lot. Perhaps I cannot install a new floor but I do have the skill to pull one up! The same floor as last time was installed complete with opposing 45 degree angles in my living room and dining room. The stairs that were done last year were not damaged so were left in place. The new floor and the old floor (on the stairs) matched very well. In addition I had my second floor hallway done in the same flooring. Carpet will eventually be done in the bedrooms. Like last time the floor was installed unfinished and finished on site. That is my preference. They also added a coat of polyurethane to the stairs which had been through a lot with all the mess, etc. In addition the horrid linoleum floor in the kitchen needed to be replaced. Since I was having GOIAS tile the kitchen I also had them do the bathroom. Pulling up tile is tough so I left that to Gil's crew in the bathroom. They did a great job and jumped in to help when I wasn't able to remove the fridge from the kitchen myself. They went the extra mile and took off the doors and didn't charge extra. All the work came out perfect. There were no price overruns since Gil had his records of how much wood the floors took. Last time the 45 degree angles ate more flooring than expected but the cost was trivial. Again, I cannot say enough good about Gil and his team. Gil and his team are punctual, available for questions and advice all the time. I hope in a year or two to have Gil install the hardwood on my third floor.

This is the second time we have used GOIAS. We were glad to have Alton and Eddie back to do more work on our home. We needed sliding doors replaced to our patio. We purchased the doors and they came in and installed the new door. We also needed our entry door replaced. Again, we bought the door. They pulled out the old door, discovered a few surprises in the creative insulation and workmanship of the previous owner, discussed how to solve the problems, and finished the installation. They did some work in the hallway leading to the door as well. As usual, everything looks great. The job cost a little more than expected because of the problems found when the old door was removed, but what can you do? A door needs to go in once it's out and the price was fair.

This is the third time we have used GOIAS. This time we asked for Marlon to come back and do our tile floor in the bathroom. He is so good words can't describe it! The bathroom is beautiful! He was so fast and precise. When the new toilet, bought by us, didn't fit, he kindly came back the next day to put it in, even though he was done with the job. Last week, we had an unforseen problem with the toilet mounting, and Gil himself came in and fixed it free of charge. We really enjoy them and their work and will use them again.

Gil Ricardo over saw our project and he was delightful to work with. He communicated every step of the way as I picked out products from Home Depot in MN. Some items I left up to his judgement as I gained trust. I am happy to say that the unit is now on the MLS in NJ and ready to rent. It looks fabulous! I felt Gil was a man of integrity and delivered on this job. I would highly recommend him and his work crew.

Showed up. explained the work. promised to send price quote. Never did and never showed up again.

I contacted the company by email. I initiated this project right after hurricane Sandy, but I received a prompt response. About a week later the tiler, Marlon, came to our house to gether information. Subsequently I received an estimate by email and set up a day for the installation. They were very cooperative when we had to postpone for a week when we changed the tile pattern and had to buy more tiles. On the day of the job they arrived late morning and completed it in a few hours. Marlon was very helpful in helping us make our pattern fit properly in the available space. All told, a very positive experience.

Work was paining ceiling and repair some minor water damage from hurricane in large ceiling. Work was performed well. Workmen took great care to make sure personal items and carpeting were protected from any damage. Cleaned up after paining well. Job took several days and Goias accomodated well the fact that family still had to live in work area each night after they finished for the day. Very satisfied and will like use Goias in the future.

I am so pleased with the work that Gil and his team - Eddie and Elton - completed for me. After a series of roof leaks, I contacted Goias Home Improvement and a number of other contractors in mid-August. Gil, the owner of Goias, immediately set up a time to come by to review the work I wanted to have done. He spent a lot of time with me and asked a lot of good questions, and I was inclined to work with him over the other contractors from whom I got estimates. While I was in the selection process, however, the roof leaks I thought had been repaired (by another roofing company I will not name) caused even worse damage than I already had - including causing a 3 foot whole in my upstairs hallway. I called each of the contractors from whom I had estimates, and Gil was there the next day to review the latest damage. Not only did he provide me with a reasonable revised estimate to complete all the work, but when I couldn't get the roofing company who had previously "repaired" the roof problems, he had his guys come over to look at the roof. His guys found the real cause of the roof leaks and replaced a series of shingles. After confirming that water was no longer coming in to the house from the roof, Eddie and Elton began the inside repairs when I was ready to move forward in October. Over the course of about 10 days, they tore down the entire hallway ceiling and then installed new drywall ceilings in the hallway and in two of my three bedrooms. They painted all three bedrooms, the hallway and the master bath - and they look perfect. I am so happy with their attention to detail - the work was done painstakingly well. Gil also had an electrician come in to reinstall a couple of ceiling lights and ceiling fans that were damaged. Eddie and Elton were very professional and very nice, and they were very mindful of protecting all my furniture, valuables, etc. and cleaning up after themselves while the work was in progress. Having just celebrated Thanksgiving, I must give thanks for Gil and his team - the work they did was truly excellent. I will definitely use them again when I'm ready to paint the entire downstairs and the rest of my house. I cannot say enough good things about Gil and Goias Home Improvement! Thank you thank you for the wonderful work you did!

Called Gil on 11/5 and advised I needed a generator. Still had no electric due to the storm Sandy. Nor'easter was on the way. He said he would find one. Called me on Tuesday,he would be over Wednesday to install. He arrived late morning and set up the generator in the rain/snow that was beginning to fall. I finally had heat in my home. The electric came on that nite. I cannot thank Gil enough. I have no regrets purchasing the generator.

Gil came out to my house on oct. 21, 2012 to give me an estimate to update my bathroom. He seemed to want to do everything in the most expensive way he could. After he evaluated the work to be done, he said he'd have an estimate to in about a week. I'm still waiting for the estimate as of 11/11/2012.

I needed alot of work done on my home. I thought the price was fair. I appreciated Gil's straight-forwardness and honesty. Both he and his men were/are very professional and the workmanship excellent. Worth every bit of money spent. I will hire them again. Highly recommend this company.
