He shows up, he has multiple crews, but the crew that I have, shows up when they say they are going to show-up, if there's a problem they come to me and say, okay, here's our difficulty, so they very much have topped over, I would definitely recommend them. They're more expensive, but for this type of job, I wanted a really experienced plumbing contractor, and he didn't have any problems with the inspector, which I knew he wouldn't. He did it the way the inspector liked the first time, and we have a real big problem in our town with that.I can't tell you about their finished work yet, because I haven't seen it. This has all been rough in, but, they do have experience with steam pipe, which is really unusual, and that was awesome, they've moved radiators around for me, and they've really done a great job, in terms of an old victorian building how we can figure out how to get all these runs. They are thinking plumbers, they solve the problem, they show-up. They think ahead, and plan ahead, and they're smart with their hours.

I am so sorry you were unhappy with our response. We decided not to go forward with additional work because a carpenter had illegally done plumbing work at this house without a license. It was very complicated for us to get involved at this point and against our better judgement as a reputable plumbing business.

We were lied to and taken advantage of in the worst way because we developed a very good working relationship with this contractor. This guy is a politician with a wrench !!!!!
Description of Work: Re-plumbed a cottage in Maine at a cost of $3000 to make it easier and less expensive to close in the fall and drain the piping. The contractor charged us MORE to close the cottage after the $3000 of work then he did prior the work. Complete liar. We have severed ties with this contractor.

I am so sorry that you feel this way. I did speak with you after the service was performed and, after explaining the terms of the service again, you stated that you had misunderstood the terms initially. It is our main priority to ensure that all of our customers are satisfied with our service. Given your initial dissatisfaction and misunderstanding, we did not bill you for the balance of the job, in an extension of good faith on our part.

These guys are awesome. Super professional, respectful and timely. GREAT customer service. We suddenly had no heat/hot water one night. No biggie in the fall...its not winter yet, except we have a newborn! John was great. He responded to us right away, where other, bigger, companies were unable to do so because of the high demand for heating services in the fall. He was also SUPER understanding when I had to reschedule TWICE due to family circumstances. Needless to say, we are incredibly pleased with our service and will definitely be calling these guys from now on!

It was quite simply seamlessly done, true experts. John came over and we diagnosed my options. 24hrs later his crew showed up. These guys were respective, courteous, and quite honestly they didn't leave until the house was cleaned up and all questions were answered. Icing on the cake is that I was given a great estimate and they hit that target once the project was completed. It's nice to know that I can store these guys in my list of contacts and label them simply "the plumber". I highly recommend you do the same.

I was moving back into my home after having been forced to live in extended stay hotel for 5 mos. after house had had demolition down to the studs. Then general contractor who had done demolition left the job with my home still not in inhabitable condition toward end of Oct. and I had to find contractor to educate me on furnaces, order and install a furnace within 2-3 weeks. Winter was fast approaching and I had to return home by Nov. 15.. Thks season, all contractors were more than very busy and it would be difficult to get a commitment for furnace installation with point blank delivery date needed. On about Oct 15 I got two quotes for a new furnace. The Pettigrew quote for same system was 20% lower than their competitor's and commitment to meet the necessary installation by Nov 15,. I had hired Pettigrew previously for all my plumbing since buying my home 18 months ago and had been very pleaed with the work done by Pettigrew's Master Plumber "Steve". The current job was one for a true professional and I fully expected that there would be difficulty with the intricate installation on time., Steve made sure I understood the differences between different furnaces that would meet my needs, quoted a price that was not exceeded, ordered system and did installation with his assistant. He was organized, professional, always treated me with respect and intelligence, There were weekends worked after long weeks. I understood that I was being fit in as a prioity because of my tight situation. The system installation was completed on time, in budget...and it's actually, very beautiful. (I didn't mention that Pettigrew also had installed vanity and toilets iin between order and delivery of furnace. I moved back to my home on time with confidence that I had a safe and efficient new heating system and fully functional bath..
Description of Work: Researched out new furnace for very involved heating system, quoted price for furnace and install, and delivered on time, a most beautiful installed system under sever e time constraints.. The installation was very difficult to do and the final resulting furnace and installation were not just great, but almost a work of art!.

There were a couple of emails back and forth in the week, but nothing definitive. I finally got a live call early Sunday morning to tell me he'd be there at 8:30 Monday morning, unless he heard otherwise from me. I texted him a quick confirmation that it was fine. John showed up a few minutes late; not a major deal, but since I had no call I called him at about 8:40 and he was a couple of minutes away. I called to be sure we had not crossed wires, since I was putting off going to work until later to get this done, and didn't want to wait if in fact there was an issue. John pulled in and came into the house and informed me that they don't work in mobile homes. His exact words were 'it's not in his wheelhouse', and that normally the customer would relate to him that they lived in a mobile home. We have a double wide. After he intimated a couple of times that the 'customer' usually let's them know, I commented that since there was never any discussion between us before his Sunday morning voice message, there wasn't an opportunity for details. The basic tone was that it is my fault that he was unaware of what he was going to I told him I never spoke to him, and that I simply filler out the requested information on Angie's list. He then suggested that Angie's list needs to do a better job with their process. He went on to explain that he had a small 4 man shop and that not only did they not work on mobile homes, but we're a bit out of range from their Portsmouth location on the seacoast to support us, and it would not make sense for them to do work they couldn't support. If we had a freeze on say Christmas Eve, they're not equipped with that type of rotation, so they couldn't support the work. I wasn't sure of the relevance since they don't work on mobile homes anyways, but I could appreciate the added rational for not wanting to work out this far. Never did he suggest that perhaps, had he called ahead and had a brief conversation about what we needed and where we were, it would have saved us both the inconvenience, and kept me from missing time at work, and him from travelling to a job he couldn't do for nothing. He basically intimated that the blame laid with Myself an Angie's list. He then said, I assume you've already paid for the inspection. I could do it, but we can't do the work. I agreed that that was senseless. He told me I'd have to get ahold of Angie's list to figure out what to do about the money I'd spent. All in All, John is perhaps an excellent plumber, and I have no reason to question the ability of his shop. However, from a customer communication perspective and moreover customer support, the experience was less than positive. A simple call a few days earlier would have alleviated a lot of frustration, and any suggestion that he would look into the issue with the cost of the voucher would have been appreciated. Not taking any ownership whatsoever for my inconvenience is frankly the one issue that spurred this review. The rest could easily be overlooked.
Description of Work: He finally called Sunday Morning while I happened to be away, and left a voice message telling me that he'd be there Monday morning @ 8:30, and to call him if that was a bad time. Otherwise, he'd be here. He showed up to tell me basically that he does not work on Mobile homes, and generally does not work this far from the seacoast.

We apologize, but we don't work on mobile homes. Usually customers will inform us of that fact. It's just not a typical question that we would ask. If we do work in a mobile home, we need to be able to support all aspects of that homes service and repair, and the truth is, we are not. I didn't mean anything personal by it

Prior to being able to get to us, John helped us, over the phone, with suggestions of what to do until he was able to come and fix our leaky pipe. He and his employee arrived very promptly, quickly determined where the leak was and proceeded to fix it. That required pulling out our kitchen stove, cutting a small hole in the wall to access the leak and working in a very tight space. None of which was a problem for them! The pipe was very quickly repaired and everything returned as it had been. John is very professional and personable and we would certainly call them again!

Our water in the toilet bowl suddenly got slightly rusty, so we called Pettigrew Plumbing. Two plumbers came out two days later and spent over an hour diagnosing the problem. Their assessment of the situation was absolutely correct: our old house had a galvanized steel pipe bringing water from the well to the house, and it had rotted away in several places. A four person crew showed up a week later, bright and early, and worked for almost 12 hours till the job was done. They worked in the dark with miner's lamps on their hats, rather than leave us without water overnight. They found that the well pump was over 35 years old and ready to break, so they replaced this for us. Overall, we were thrilled with Pettigrew Plumbing. John Pettigrew was extremely responsive to any question I had, texting or calling with his answers. The plumbers who did the job worked extremely hard and were complete professionals in every respect.
