Pettigrew Plumbing and HVAC

I was told I was getting an appliance A/C tech, who knew how to service Air Conditioners. The Technician arrived...had no idea what to do...Had to search the repair procedure on the internet !! The tech informed me, that he doesn't work on these units or know anything about them. Nothing was correctly serviced or fixed. The problem returned in 2 hours, and I was charged almost $300 for nothing. For $300 dollars, nothing got solved. Terrible service, WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for no result.

Tex and Jay showed up on time and were very polite and professional. My hot water heater needed replacement and they made sure that it was replaced the same day. This is the 2nd time I have used Pettigrew Plumbing and I will be using them in the future!!! They were both very professional and answered all my questions. I'm very satisfied with the service I received. The office staff were also quite helpful as well!

We had a simple toilet repair and Tex was just great. Friendly, fast, and willing to answer all our questions. He instantly became our new plumber.

We waited two weeks for Lowe’s to keep two appointments, which they did not keep and never notified us that they couldn’t make it. We called Pettigrew and talked to Karen who was very helpful and scheduled us the same day. Tex showed up early and had everything done in half an hour. He was professional and polite. I couldn't be happier - from my initial call to them I spoke with Karen. She understood my needs and concerns worked with me to insure I had hot water and heat at this time of the year! The evaluation from Eric were reasonable, he was timely, professional, helpful w my questions. Awesome, quick, responsive. The price was a bit high given "emergency" rate for weekend, but was entirely worth it. The worker, Mike, was great, prompt, explained everything and got it done in minimal time. Could not be happier.

The work was great. It was a fairly easy job and it was done efficiently.

Young plumber showed up to make some estimates. Reviewed the place and got some estimates about 2-3 days later via text. Told customers to use Only text as telephone is meant for employees! Turned out he was the owner's son who's in charge of Residential plumbing section of their business as the father is in charge of the Commercial plumbing section. Sent out a 2 person crew to do some preliminary work who showed up late. Repaired some 'minor' faucet work including under all the sinks and washing machine hookup. Priced by 'project' so <$700. Another service date was scheduled for everything else 1 week later including fixing the 1 toilet that was left unattached. NO follow up except the day before the service date! Couldn't get anyone to come in sooner as 'they were busy!' according to his text reply! 2 person crew replaced water heater and shower handles including drilling/cutting holes in walls for access and washing machine/garbage disposal hookup <$4k. Have to spend extra time in patching up and painting over those holes in the walls which would've been easier if they came sooner before the place was painted over. Shower switch shows hot/cold water was switched to cold/hot even though they said they properly installed the switches accordingly. They said most likely the original plumbers switched the hot/cold water pipes and more costly to fix. Have to remember that the hot/cold water positions are reversed! Service is 'guaranteed' for 1 year and that the water heater is warranty guaranteed for service up to ~5-7 years, which may explain the relatively high prices! They that the owner's son had a bad week but that doesn't excuse the No return replies. Decent, albeit pricey, work but business needs work on business/customer service skills.

Work was done in a timely manner....excellent communication and follow through.....very happy!

They did a wonderful job despite a challenging work space(under kitchen sink) and 65 year old plumbing.

have used Pettigrew Plumbing and Heating in the three homes I have owned in Portsmouth NH. Some jobs were constructing a new bathroom, remodeling an old one, installing a washer dryer set, moving a hot water heater, and installing a new HVAC system. The owner, John Pettigrew, and his skilled employees, are alway professional, know their trade, show up on schedule, work neat and clean, and are courteous and willing to answer questions. I would highly reccomend Pettigrew plumbing.

I cannot overstate the professionalism of Pettigrew Plumbing's team. It's usually difficult to get a returned call from plumbers, but every text or email to Pettigrew Plumbing was promptly answered --what a welcome change from most plumbers I've dealt with in the past. We exchanged several emails, because the job was particular challenging--they had to install a toilet pump in a very confined area in my basement. The work and workmanship was excellent! They ran the pipes and tubing to my basement bathroom with minimal exposure, something I was not expecting. They are now my plumbers of choice and I will certainly be using them in future projects.

This project was particularly challenging because we had a very old forced hot water oil burner (some people had said it should be in the Smithsonian) which was originally coal-fired but converted to oil about 40 years ago. Further complicating the project was the fact that we had heating zones with different types of radiators on each (old-style cast iron and also the more modern fin-tube). Oh, and it's an old 3 story house. In short, John and his team at Pettigrew Plumbing were fantastic! They got rid of the old boiler, installed a new high-efficiency propane boiler, and left my basement with MORE headroom and floor space when it was all done. Not only is John's staff top-notch (like Steve), his extended team of manufacturer's reps are also excellent and provide a depth of experience and knowledge that is truly impressive (like Doug). John cares about the quality of the work they do and it shows in the end result. And he clearly explained what his plan was in non-technical terms that I could understand and answered questions when I didn't. So now, not only does our new boiler work well, but when you look at the way that John connected the new system with the old plumbing ... clean design of pipe layouts, wiring nicely wrapped, with extra fittings here and there to make future maintenance easier, the quality of the work is just great! I can't say enough nice about Pettigrew ... would definitely use them again and recommend to friends.

We were very pleased with the whole process. We thought the price was a little high, but we had nothing to compare it to, so it could actually be the going cost of things.

I had a water leak from my hi vent on my air scoop. Replaced the part myself as a have previous HVAC experience. I normally do my own repairs but have been out of the business for many years. After the repair I started the furnace and the furnace had an over pressure situation as the high pressure valve opened up releasing hot water. I suspected I had a bad aqua stat. As I was going to be traveling in the next week I thought I should call a plumber. I called and John answered the phone right away. He listened to my problem carefully and was able to sense that a had some experience with HVAC. Through our conversation he thought it was the aqua stat as well. He provided me with some install tips and advice on where to buy the part. I purchased the part did the install and the furnace is running again with no problems. I should also say John said call back if you have a problem. I called John back to let him know everything worked out great. What a pleasure to get the help I needed to get this squared away and we are not even in the heating season so there was no urgency to get it resolved. The most important thing to me is that John answered the phone on my first call, that is outstanding customer service and I did not even have a call that provided a fee to the company. I will certainly call Pettigrew plumbing for future needs and would recommend them to anyone.
