+ 12 moreAlthough a fire of this size is always a major lifetime trauma and a major inconvenience, Brian's daily involvement gave us the absolute confidence that we were making the right decisions. His subcontractors also exceeded our expectations. Brian took great care to understand our own aesthetic tastes and budget and was not afraid to challenge us when he thought particular suggestions from us or subcontractors were inconsistent with these standards. Our 22 year-old African Grey Parrot now calls him "Uncle" and frequently asks to see him! Brain is definitely family now!
Description of Work: Our house was the scene of a structure fire towards the end of 2012.. The fire destroyed the walls, ceiling and roof of the back porch, spread rapidly through the balloon framing, through about half of the second floor, and then began attacking the joist and rafters in the attic before it was contained by the Lowell Fire Department. A friend, who is also a general contractor, but committed to other clients at the time, recommended Brian Soucy without reservation. After four months of almost daily contact with Brian, my wife and I still have no reservations, either. Although I have some prior construction experience, designing three houses, building one home myself, and heavily renovating five others, I realized that I needed the full time engagement of experts with a proven track record of high quality work within a constrained budget. Brian served as general contractor and overall project manager, prequalified all subcontractors prior to bidding, handled general conditions, demolition, and recycling/removal, coordinated all trades (framing, plumbing, heating, cabinetry, granite counters, electrical, plaster, painting, and floor refinishing. He and a close associate did the finish carpentry, installed the kitchen and bath cabinets, and laid ceramic tile in the kitchen, both baths, the pantry, and the new four season room (rebuilt former back porch). He also answered questions from our insurance company and helped us achieve a fair claim settlement.
