Description of Work: John put some support brackets in my pantry. They are really long wire shelving that needed some support. He also cut and put some other shelving in a bathroom closet. He also hung a very large piece of art for me.

Description of Work: Hired John to rebuild a wall between two bedrooms that I have taken out approx. 10 years ago. He showed up the very next day to give me an estimate. That was on a Wed. On Monday he called me with the figures. I couldn't believe he was so fast. Then when I asked when he could start he said tomorrow. So he showed up on Tues. to get final measurements and a list of supplies he would need. At 8:00 am the next day he showed up with his carpenter Steve. Steve started the work and by 1:00 had cut out the new doorway and had framed up the new wall. Within an hour he had installed two new doorways. The next morning they showed up at 8:30 and did the electrical and the drywall. All that was left to do on Fri morning was to skim the drywall. By noon they were done. I have also hired John to remodel my bathroom. As soon as all the components come in that I have ordered for that he will be coming back to do that job for me. They were even kind enough to take one of the old doors from my project and install it at my mothers house all at the same time. I would highly recommend John and his employees. They are polite and professional and will be my go to guys for all my future projects.

 + 1 more.A leak began in back of the faucet in the bathroom. But before we figured out what it was it ruined the tile and was beginning to pop them out. We called Mr. Petralito, he was very helpful and informative. He had to pull down all the tile, replace the faucet a put up a new tub surround. He did all this in two days and did a good job.

In order to maintain our warranty on this particular job, it would be best to hire a licensed electrician. I would definitely hire him for future needs.

 + 1 moreJohn showed up with another contractor, Steve, and got to work right away. They estimated the job would take $300 for the floor replacement, $50 for the tiling and $25 if I wanted them to do the trim work (quarter round). They went to the nearest hardware store, and bought the materials required to do the job. Steve and John replaced the floor, then Steve retiled it and put down the quarter-round. When they were finished, you couldn't tell they had done any work, other than the toilet and floor being on solid footing. They finished the job on time. The only tiniest quibble I have is that I did not ask if the $375 included materials, or if it was only labor -- When the bill finally came it was $415 instead of the 375 because of the materials they had to buy -- but they did only make me pay cost on the materials. Overall I was very satisfied with their work, and would happily use them again!
Description of Work: Replaced rotting flooring under toilet and replaced the vinyl tiles on top.

Description of Work: John,Steve,Mike Done repairs to back porch screen, gutters, garage door seal, caulked chair rail and painted it, repaired crown molding on kitchen cabinets, painted kitchen, replaced broken tile on kitchen floor ,replaced outlets and light switches, installed new front door and painted front and back doors, put up new ceiling fan in living room. Will most likely use them again when I have other repairs to do.

 + -1 moreThis guy is still not finished. He shows up for an hour and leaves. Does a little part of the overall job and then dispears goes out of town, and does not reschedule unless I call him. He does not clean up after himself and his workmanship is shoddy. He has to order a door for my garage and seems to think that the rest of the job can wait until the door arrives. That is not the case he could finish all of the other projects and then install the door. I have only given him 200.00 so far and that was supposed to be for supplies.I am ready to fire him and hire someone else to finish the job. How long is this going to Drag on?
Description of Work: My house is for sale and the people who were buying it asked for some things to be fixed. Replace and fix water damaged wood on front of house. Repair flashing around vent stacks. patch wall where door handle punctured dry wall. Repair exterior french doors and paint John did patch the wall and in the process left patching compound on hard wood floor and it has gotten between the boards and I can not seem to get rid of the white line in my hard wood floor now. John did fix the flashing around the vent stacks to the best of my knowledge, but I haven't been up on the roof. After doing these things he disapeared for a week and a half. He has not started to fix the exterior wood rot but did peel back the wall interior and sprayed with bleach to remove any mold. Still the mold could be back by now since the exterior has not been repaired allowing more moisture to come in the wall. He always seems to have some dramatic excuse for not finishing or disapearing. I am not amused. Will never recommend this guy to anyone.

 + 0 moreJP as he prefers to be called is truly a man of honor. From 200 miles away it was tough for me to evaluate the situation. JP did everything I requested and more. He was able to help my mother in a way he would have helped his own. Bottom line he was more interested in getting the right thing done than making a personal profit.
Description of Work: I was looking for assistance for my mother (84 years old) living alone in a trailer 200 miles away. Her central air conditioner had failed and she was quoted $2,200 for repairs. I thought it might be more economical to just install 2 window units. I asked JP to estimate the cost to install them. He took the measurements but suggested that an air conditioning company that he personally uses take a look at the failed unit. They quoted me a price of $2,800 to replace the entire unit. I decided to go that route. 1 year labor, 10 years parts.

 + -1 moreOver the phone, on our initial consult, John said that I didn't have to pay in advance, that he took payment when the work was finished. He failed to mention that he expected me to pay for supplies up front, which was a significant amount of money, when I wasn't supposed to pay him until he finished. The day he came by to give me an estimate, he promised to do the work for approx. $1000, but because I was a veteran, he would cut me a "good deal". John's work was good. He had some personal delays getting started, but finally work well,, and quickly. We have had some serious communication issue however. I have admitted that I misunderstood his original quote, which I failed to get in writing. But even though I have agreed to pay what he says I owe, he argues with me when I tell him that giving future customers written estimates / quotes would keep this from happening with some one else, he becomes defensive, and says the whole thing was my fault. In this area, me, the customer, has never come out right in any way. It is truly difficult for me to say unpleasant things about anyone. It has taken me several weeks to finally sit down and write this. But my advice to anyone considering using his services should plan on getting their estimates in writing, and makiing him be "up front" about everything. In fact make some kind of written record of every conversation, because he does seem forget what he says from time to time. There are many grey areas in our business relationship, and I will NOT ask him to work for me again.
Description of Work: The quality of his work was good. There was a delay starting, due to personal problems on his part, which I gladly worked with him. The agreed upon repairs were: to repair damage to the wall and door frame in one bedroom, repair the wall and ceiling in the shower and toilet in one bathroom. On the day he was to start, after the initial delay, I had had some financial issues arise, and asked that we put the toilet off till a future date, because it worked O.K., and I needed to cut back a bit on the cost of the repairs. He agreed, and that repair was put off till a later date. Once work comensed, he worked quickly, but there was a delay in finishing due to illness on his part, again, I worked with him without finding fault. Had let him have a spare key to my home, so that he could get in and finish the work, because I had an appointment. While I was gone, he "finished" the repairs, and left me a final bill. However he left quite a bit of mess for me to clean. I could tell he had cleaned a little, but left a lot anyway. When we discussed the mess a few days later, we had one more arguement about things, this will be the last arguement we have. The first time he let himself in with my key, I told him that I was uncomfortable letting ANYONE have a key like that. The last time he used the key, he submited his final fill, left that for me, and took the key! The final bill was over $400 from the vocal estimate that he gave me originally, and that for only two of the three items repaired. Plus I have no disire to talk with him, and went ahead, at my expense, changed the locks to my house. On my part I have always told him, and any one who would ask, that I could have misunderstood his "vocal" estimate in the beginning, and have apreed to pay the bill, and he agreed to accept payments. I tried to suggest that he should give written estimates to future customers to avoid future misunderstandings, but it always came back to being my fault for the misunderstanding.

Description of Work: We needed two toilets replaced in our home that we had recently purchased at lowes. We called him on Friday and he was there right on time Monday morning and was done in less than 3 hrs. He was very knowledgeable and even discussed the other jobs we needed done in the future. He was very nice and professional and did a great job.

 + 0 moreWe needed our Dryer Duct Cleaned and because JP is insured to do this job we called on him. We made the appointment for the cleaning and he was on time as usual. The duct work was really plugged but JP completed the work in very little time and now my clothes dry faster. Upon inspection of the outside spigot JP determined that he would not be able to fix it. The job required a licensed plumber. JP recommended a very good plumber (Aces Drain) for the job. The toilet needed a new seal, which he did not have with him, but suggested that the plumber (Aces Drain) would have a seal when he came if not to let JP know and he would bring the seal and replace it when he was at our neighbors house for service in a couple of days. We continue to be very pleased with JP's service and professionalism. We will continue to use his services.
Description of Work: We needed our Dryer Duct cleaned. We did it once in 8 years and then let it go entirely to long. We needed outside spigot repaired it had been leaking for some time and a toilet fixed, which would not flush properly.

 + -1 moreThe first day, he arrived to my home to install a dishwasher, which went smoothly. The next day, he installed an over-the-stove microwave. I didn?t know the height that was required since I never had this type of microwave. During the installation, I mentioned several times that I thought the microwave was too high. He kept saying that the microwave needed to be that high, and after researching this, I found out that the microwave doesn?t need to be that high. Throughout the entire process, his attitude became unpleasant, rude, and disrespectful. After using the microwave the next day, I realized that the microwave was, in fact, too tall for me, and I?m 6?. I contacted him the next day in regards to this, and he told me he?d come back and fix it, but wouldn?t do it for nothing, even though that should be covered under warranty. During the conversation, he began yelling at me, had all these quotes that I never actually said, and he wouldn?t let me get a word in. At that point I ended the conversation. I emailed him to let him know that I stopped that check, which cost me $35, and was sending another check that was for $175, which was payment for half the day. He then called two more times, leaving messages, and sent me several emails, threatening me. He changed his tune after while, insisting that he would come back to fix the work. I responded to his emails, and let him know I was finished with this situation. I just want him to leave me alone; I don?t appreciate being harassed or threatened, and I don?t feel comfortable having him back in my home. Also, after I let him know that the first check was being stopped, he told me it cost him $12 since that check didn?t go through (apparently he tried cashing both the first check and the check for $175, even though I told him that the first check was cancelled).
Description of Work: Installed a dishwasher, two cupboard walls, over-the-stove microwave, moved an outlet, and installed a ceiling light (kitchen fixture).

Description of Work: "JP" was incredible! We inherited a house in Florida and visit the house every few months. Two months ago we knew we had a little leak in the kitchen when we turned on the faucet, and of course, when we returned it was a big leak. JP was great, he discussed all the options, suggested he obtain the faucet and parts so he could use his contractors discount, and within a day we had a working sink with one beautiful kitchen faucet. JP works part-time and does just about everything! We're thinking about using him to paint the house. I can't recommend him enough!

He worked with me to accommodate my work schedule as well as his. Everything was done professionally in a timely manor, and clean-up was excellent. He is the man I will call the next time I have a project...he can do almost anything!
Description of Work: Power washed house and driveway. Replaced weather stripping and door sweep on front door. Replaced weather stripping and bottom strip on garage door. Replaced front entry light and added motion sensor. Replaced side entry light. Replaced three entry door knobs and two dead bolts. Repaired door frame and door which had rotted from water entry.

 + 0 moreI had him all lined up for the stuff because my mom was coming down to visit for at least 6 months. I have a porch in my house that you have to go down this one step. It's a little step but a big step for my mom. But she could go down the ramp without feeling like she was falling. He had some absolutely fabulous ideas as to what we could do to make things safer for mom and things like that. He had it all figured it out in his mind. As it turned out, unfortunately all my plans changed so I couldn't use him. But I certainly got the impression and I certainly believe that this man is very good at what he does. He came, we talked, he wrote things down and then he went back home and then sent me the estimate by email. It was very professional and was very well done. I just thought he was just great. I apologized to him for not getting the work done because he had quite a few super ideas. He understood and he was okay and told me to call him if I needed anything else. I can give him a recommendation of being very professional but very friendly. I think he would have done an excellent job. I don't think that there is too much that he can't do. I did not see his work. His responsiveness was excellent. He was right on time. His professionalism was very good.

JP came in to do a simple install of a new kitchen faucet and ended up taking out our garbage disposal and the stainless steel sink in order to change out the faucet. He would not call it quits until he had it installed the correct way. The faucet was installed by our home builder in 2003, The shmuck that installed it tightened it beyond belief and appeared to have been an inexperienced plumber with the way he installed the faucet and the garbage disposal (which JP also rewired the correct way). When JP final got the sink out he had to saw off the cold water pipe and the spout pipe in order to get them off. JP is truly amazing in his ability. I would recommend him for any project you might have. It appears that he can do anything.

 + 0 moreJohn arrived and went right to work. In no time he had the doors fitting better than they did to begin with. The doors, when closed at night, you could see light coming through the top and the sides of the doors. When John got finished there was no light entering the room. For us this was amazing. He is a true magician. He is personable, talented, and any other descriptive word you would care to us. We were so please with him that we will be scheduling a plumbing job for him. Anyone who hires John will not be dissatisfied.
Description of Work: We took on a painting project which we have done numerous times in the past. With this we removed two doors and the hinges from frame and door. We painted all areas that were to be painted and replaced the hinges. When we went to hang the doors they did not fit.
