I needed to have two furnace and A/C units replaced; both were nearly 20 years old. Bill came and did the estimates and Chris and his crew did the installation. I obtained bids from all of the major heating contractors and decided to obtain one from Wichita based on reviews on Angie's List. I was surprised by how much the bids varied. Wichita was one of the lowest bids and they offered one of the best warranties. They answered my questions and everything was done as promised. The crew was very professional. Shortly after installation, I noticed the furnace sometimes made a noise when it first turned on. Chris came out several times to investigate the noise and eventually fixed it by replacing some parts. I was so pleased with them that I enrolled in their maintenance program. I highly recommend them for your heating and cooling needs.

Preformed the services requested at the agreed upon price. Original HVAC company botched the install and my AC compressor blew out. These guys did the warranty work and I requested they look over the system to find out what was wrong. They did that and in the process found some controllers for our zone system were not actually connected. They got them working and made sure the system was functioning correctly before they left. I will definitely use them again.

The install was completed on the day it was promised and was clean and professionally done. I have used their service in both of the houses that I have owned. Their service is great, the equipment (carrier) is excellent, and most of all, each person that I have worked with (from owner to tech) have been top notch! I recommend them to everyone that I know!

The demo of 3/4 inch PVC pipe and replacement with Little Giant condensate pump and 1/2 inch hose was nothing short of a difficult task with waste drain located 50 feet from my furnace. Kevin and Bob did an excellent job with the install making sure the pump and hose were arranged in an organized and clean manner. It took them about three hours to complete and they left the project area clean and clear from demo and install debris. They showed up on time, they were friendly, and they did a quality job. Without hesitation, I would recommend Wichita to others.

Wichita Rocks! Sitting in the house now and it's a cool 72 degrees. This is the coolest it has been all summer in the house. From calling the office, with the wife's million questions, she always felt like we were the only customer. They were always polite & professional. The crew came out, where on time, and quickly started working. The guys were polite, professional and easy going. They were not annoyed when the wife came home & started asking questions. They quickly answered all her questions & did not make her feel crazy for asking. They finished at an earlier time than the wife expected (might have been on time for them). They were sure to explain the equipment and how it works. We look foward to seeing them twice a year for the service package we decided to purchase. We have been very happy with their service. We are on an automatic pay twice a year for heating and cooling. I am very pleased with the service that they have provided. The technician is very courteous and helpful and they are reasonable. We will continue to use them.

In 2002 I decided to get a new A/C as mine was getting pretty old. I knew I wanted Carrier and saw that Wichita was a Service Provider for them. Called them up, talked to Bill (the owner), he came by the house and put a bid together for me for a unit that would work for me. I don't think I even got competitive bids because I felt comfortable with Bill and knew his price was fair. When I wanted a more efficient furnace in 2006 called Bill again, he came out, and we discussed which Carrier unit would be large enough for me and they installed a new furnace for me in Jan 2006. I sign up for the Pre-Paid annual plan for furnace and A/C checks every year. Kevin is the service tech who has been coming out for quite a few years to our house and he's great. Long before him Aldo came out and we liked him alot too. Sometimes when you call to make appts Bill will answer the phone. For my A/C check this year the tech called and left a message saying it's time to get it scheduled. I always forget to call them before the season so they always end up calling me, which is nice. I'm a huge supporter of small privately owned businesses and I'm glad I found Bill. I've been a loyal customer since 2002 and that will not change. Bill is a great guy and he has great employees. I HIGHLY recommend Wichita Heating & Cooling to everyone.

As it turned out, the compressor failed within about 2 weeks. I turned on the unit again after a stretch of about 2 weeks of unseasonably cool weather, and the compressor started, ran about 30 seconds and tripped the 40 amp breaker. I checked the current to the condenser unit and found that the inrush start up current was about 100 amps, which then dropped to about 70 amps in the run mode. The rated current is 27 amps, so it was pulling almost 3 times it's full rated load. That will certainly trip the 40 amp circuit breaker. So it occurred to me that since I sell lots of stuff on eBay, that a compressor 'hard start kit' might be something that I could sell and recoup some of my $195. I checked eBay, and to my surprise, they had lots of these 'hard start kits' for sale. The part that really ticked me off was that you can buy one of these from any number of eBay vendors for about $15 to $20. So as one of the other reviewers said, this company is apparently guilty of really jacking up the prices of the parts that they sell to the needy consumer. In my case, almost a 1000% markup on this. Now, as you might guess, Wichita Heating/Cooling won't be providing my replacement A/C system. Getting burned by them for the 'cheap' fix is enough for me to rate them very low and hope that all the other Angie's list viewers take note of this company and stay away from them... After all, that is the main reason that we are looking at Angie's list, so we can weed out the contractors that don't meet appropriate customer service practices and pricing. In closing, I feel that an appropriate price for this job should have been the $79 diagnostic labor fee plus about $30 or $40 for the hard start kit, which is about a 100% markup, and that is not too unusual for the service industry.

The service was fine and quick, they came out after hours so I did expect to pay a premium for the labor, what I didn't expect was that I would be charged over $200 for a $35 part, and what I really didn't like was the answer I got when I asked why so much for a part that everyone sells for $35. He explained that they charge extra for having it on the truck and available, and for keeping it in stock, I then told him I understand charging a premium for the convenience of stocking it on the truck for me, but I felt a 700% mark up was a little extreme, I then asked for a break on the price of the part, which he immediately refused, after all it was after hours, hot outside, and Friday night, he knew I had no choice but to do it, and pay him his price, so he proceeded to take advantage of my misfortune. I'm not tight or cheap, and had no problem paying high labor for the afterhours service call, but the price of the part was a flat out rip-off!!

They do stand out above the rest for emergency calls.

All worked was performed as promised. Wichita Heating & Cooling provided a detailed estimate of the work and equipment to be installed. All work was performed on schedule as promised. This will be my first choice for future heating and cooling repairs in the future.

We had listed our home for sale and were going to include Service One coverage for the buyers. When Service One came to do their initial assessment, they red flagged our furnace saying it was unsafe to use. It was the original furnace (~25 years old) and was definitely nearing the end of its life, but we were hoping the new owners would be able to get a few years of use out of it. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case, so we had to scramble to get it replaced as soon as possible to avoid scaring buyers away. We got four estimates from three companies, and the estimate from Wichita was the second cheapest by quite a bit (50% or so). The only one cheaper was for a low-quality, questionable brand furnace. Based largely on the price, brand and model of furnace, and excellent reviews from Wichita, we agreed to have them replace our furnace. I couldn't have been happier with the process. Within a day or two of accepting their bid, they had a brand new quality furnace installed and running. They had to do a little extra duct work to fit the smaller, more efficient furnace in the place of the original unit and did an excellent job. I was grateful for their exceptional speed and service considering our circumstances, and the price was very affordable. Wichita is a small, family business, and I can't recommend them enough. The owner was the one to come to our home, check things out, and give us the estimate directly, no salesman or middle men involved, so he was involved in the whole process. Quality work and furnace, reasonable price, great service, nice people! Mr. Wichita even called to follow up a few days after the install to see if we had any questions or concerns. As I said, I really can't recommend them enough!
