 + -1 moreOur main bathroom toilet was clanging, moaning and whistling. Since Halloween was past, I decided it was time to get something done. I called Service One on Monday and the repairman was out on Tuesday. It took him about 20 minutes and the repair was done. I was especially pleased with John F. because he took the time to answer some questions for me that I had regarding services provided by Service One.
Description of Work: The insides of the toilet were replaced.

 + -1 moreThe service men came out promptly to look at the house. They seemed very knowledgeable and we were anxious to get an estimate so that the work could be started. After a week went by and I hadn't heard back from them, I called the company. I was given a voice mail number which I called and left a message. The person I called did not respond. I called again a few days later and got another person's voice mail who also did not call me back. At this point I am tired of leaving messages that aren't returned. No one in the office seems to want to help...they just give me instructions to leave voice mail messages. I'm glad we didn't go further in the process if this is how Service One operates their business.
Description of Work: We contacted Service One to give us an estimate on upgrading the electrical service in our older home by adding 220 in the basement, a few more outlets in some of the rooms including the kitchen, and a couple of lights.

 + -1 moreBoth times we had to hire a different contractor to do the work because of the untimely response.
Description of Work: We had a contract with Service One for approximately 20 years and were generally pleased with their work and responsiveness until the past two years. Our air conditioner quit working on a 90+ degree day in 2006 and we called Service One just to be told that it would take 7 days for someone to come out. Because of my husband's medical condition we could not wait that long, so we hired a different contractor to do the work. We managed to recover half of the cost from Service One but only after we told them we would cancel the contract. In June of 2008, again on a 90 degree day, the A/C quit working and again we were told that it would be a week until someone can come out to see what the problem was. It turned out that the problem was a simple wire, but after the second such experience we canceled the contract. No use paying a monthly fee when anytime they are needed there is a week wait for service.

 + -1 moreThere was a 6 day delay in someone coming out. When the first guy came out he checked the thermostat and furnace. He said the a/c unit was too hot and we would have to make another appointment. His attitude was cocky and I did not like him. The next person came out 2 days later. Checked all the same things, determined the thermostat needed replacing and something in the a/c unit, a part he needed to order. He explained that the a/c could be used but would have to be started manually each time it stopped. The next available appointment was 10 away. The part was brought out and installed. The air has worked ever since. If Service One sends the first guy out to my house, I will tell him to leave. The second guy was great. He renewed my faith in Service One but unfortunately the first guy left a really bad taste in my mouth toward the company.
Description of Work: We have a home warranty and the air conditioner stopped working, no cooling but the fan worked. The warranty covers repairs or replacement for $80.25 co-payment. I got my monies worth out of this call but work on the washer was more costly than it was worth. (My washer was considered to be a foreign brand (LG) and I did not realize that until the repair person was already out).

gas leak repair
 + -1 moreMarty was here previously for more extensive gas work and said he would call me the following week to connect the grill. He did not call and at the end of the week I called him. He had forgotten. I called on a Friday and he came out on Monday and did the work. The work itself is excellent. He did a great job on connecting and testing the grill at the location on the deck specified. I would have Marty and Service One do additional work but would be cautious as to setting up the appointment. Marty has years of experience and his work is great. He cleaned up the site as well.
Description of Work: Run a natural gas line from the house to a gas grill located on the deck. Included running the line below the deck, coming up through the deck at the grill location, adding a shut off valve and a quick disconnect.

water heater repair
 + -1 moreI contacted Service One who said a representative would call. I had to contact them again before I got a response from the representative. A small hurdle but aggravating. Once I was contacted, the replacement went smoothly with no further problems. Due to the house construction we had to move the water heater to a new location that added a little to the cost. The representative contacted the manufacturer with a couple suggestions but the manufacturer thought it best to move locations. It required running more water and gas pipe but the results were very good. The actual installation went very well and the representative was very easy to work with. They put in the new water heater and connections, cut it over from the old system, and removed the old water heater. All work was done quickly, with full cleanup. I was very satisfied with the installation as well as the resulting water heater.
Description of Work: Replace our current water heater that was showing signs of failing with a new tankless water heater that offered continues hot water and energy savings.

 + -1 moreThey did a great job on my oven. I have used them for many repairs over the years and they were always very customer first oriented. Being in a service contract, I sometimes feel that the price is a little high for what I have them do, but like insurance, you didn t need it very often, but it is always best to have it.

 + -1 moreWe have been very pleased with our Service One agreement. We pay an annual fee of three or four hundred dollars and then if something goes wrong with, for example, our plumbing, we pay an additional seventy nine dollars, and the problem is then rectified for us. We will continue to give them our business in the future.
Description of Work: We have an annual contract with Service One and have used them for a plumbing problem in our one bathroom. We most recently needed them to come and clean out all of our drains for us by that particular sink, due to the fact that water was not going down the drain properly.

Once he discovered what the problem was, he decided to fix it for free. Service One is a great plan to have as they really keep on top of everything. The work was done under warranty.

Their service has a monthly rate which is $36 and this cost covers us on all our appliance so when we need something serviced, we only pay for parts which is very nice. The repairman was very professional and knowledgeable. We get a warranty on all the jobs that are done.
Description of Work: Our washing machine quit working and needed repaired. The repairman replaced the pump and a hose.

He also made sure everything worked before leaving. I was happy that there wasn t any water or anything to clean up after the job was done.

 + -1 moreI have actually used Service One for multiple appliance repairs in my house. While I do not have any major complaints with them per say, I am not exactly thrilled with them either. It still costs a lot of money to have their services provided. I will continue to use their services because if anything ever really goes wrong, I want the reassurance that I don't have to spend a great deal of money at one time.
Description of Work: I pay an annual fee to them for appliance repairs so when my ice maker stopped making ice, I called them. They wound up replacing the entire unit for me because the old one was not fixable.

I found the gentlemen to be quite professional and he explained all he needed to do was replace the element and make sure it was heating evenly. The price was very comparable for the work he did for me. I had used Service One a couple of years ago and that was why I called them again.

 + -1 moreWe have a plumbing and appliance home service plan with them. We had one in our old house for about 10 years and we decided it would be best if we had one with our new house too. We pay a monthly fee of $35 for this plan. They don't just come out and fix the problem when you have one they ask if there is anything else that needs to be fixed a well. They take their time and ask questions. I really like their timeliness and that is the reason why I use them. They have excellent service.
Description of Work: They came and fixed our dishwasher. One arm on the dishwasher wouldn't turn and one of the components wasn't functioning right so they had to order a new one. They came back out 2 days later and fixed it and it works fine now.

 + 0 moreThey have came out and fixed many things for us. They send out specialists for that specific thing that needs fixed. In our plan we have them come out in the fall and spring to inspect our air conditioner and heater to make sure that they are working properly. If it is an emergency they will send someone out on a first come, first served basis depending on the emergency. We think they are wonderful. We like their services and what they offer. We are really happy with them.
Description of Work: Removed the old unit in our stove and replaced it with a new unit. They didn't even charge us for replacing it. They have come out and done some work on our plumbing, heat pump, and appliances.

It did only last about 6 more months after that, but at least it worked for that time. They were very professional and courteous. They were also very prompt to address my phone call and get someone out. He called to let me know he was on his way. I would definitely recommend them to others.
