They fixed the furnace instead of us having to go buy a new one. Which saved us about $4,000.00. Our experience was really good. They took the time to explain everything to my husband and gave us a really good price and saved us money.

Service One was a subcontractor when we had two of our bathrooms completely remodeled. They had the same plumber come out for the multiple days we needed someone during a three month project. He moved all the plumbing and installed all new fixtures. He was responsive and we could not be happier with our interactions and work completed.

I still have 90 days if it doesn't quit. He couldn't make the washer do it, so we had 90 days to call him back. There was a rattle in the back when it goes into the spin cycle. It still does it now and then. They just charged the trip charge of $27.

Took 3 phone calls and 5 HOURS to get a technician to the house! On a cold day with our 4 children in the house we got lucky that our fireplace was in good shape. He came out, was nice and made the arc stop, advised us that we would need to replace the breaker box for a more permanent and safe fix...but the warranty that is supposed to cover everything within the perimeter of the house doesn't cover replacement of the breaker box. Had a similar issue when they refused to offer an equal replacement for the fridge that went out. Instead they gave me market value of the one part that needed to be replaced but was discontinued. I H-A-T-E this company. It's a waste of money and literally covers next to nothing. We will be looking at other companies when this warranty comes near expiration.

In a word, horrible. We had only been in the home a week when this happened. I called Service One as they were the home warranty company that was provided during the sale of the house. During our closing we hadn't gotten the paper work for the home warranty so I contacted our sales agent and she called to get it sent to us and went ahead and scheduled the appointment since they were not going to be able to send someone for 2 weeks. Once the technician arrived a day later than scheduled he tested and determined it needed a new part that had to do with the locking mechanism on the door so the microwave knew it was ok to operate. He said it would take 3 to 4 days to get the parts in and he would be back. He also said it was safe to use the appliance but that we may have to open and close the door several times to get it to work. A week later I still had not heard from Service One so I called them to find out what the issue was. I was told the parts were in but that they could not get someone to come out for another 2 weeks. When that technician, a different guy, came and installed the part and tested to see if it worked he saw that it wasn't the issue. He said it had to do with something bigger and that it was dangerous to use the microwave until it was fixed. He said he would talk with his people and determine if they could get the part, that was really needed and costly, or if Service One would rather just replace the appliance. A week later I still had no contact from Service One so I called them again. After being put on hold and then having to leave a message I finally had someone call me back. They said they were going to replace the appliance and that I needed to call a third party vendor to get that set up. They gave me the contact information and finally a week and a half later we had a working appliance installed. We were in total out of a microwave for more than a month. That is difficult when you have a 2 year old child and one that is less than a year.
Description of Work: Microware would shut off mid-cooking and then look as if it had no electricity.

I am unsatisfied with this contractors performance.
Description of Work: The service man came in and snaked my line that had a cracked drain. I had not looked with a flashlight and the next contractor to work on it found the crack by shining a light down the drain. So I paid for them to snake a line that needed fixed instead.

Bob arrived to evaluate my refrigerator which was not cooling properly. He took apart the freezer mechanism and realized the fan was not blowing any air down into the refrigerator. since the refrigerator was not cooling properly the air ducts between the freezer and the refrigerator froze over due to condensation. Bob realized the issue very quickly, ran down the parts I needed and had my refrigerator working a few hours later. From first call to handing over the check ServiceOne has been extremely easy to work with and I would highly recommend them to anyone. I am super thankful to Bette Case for her help at the office too!

We purchased our Service One contract apprx 3 months ago. The negative is it is one upfront cost, but the benefit with owning a 15 year old home is you will get your money worth in the long run. Our washing machine broke down a week ago. The service tech came within a day of the call we placed to them. They were unable to fix the machine, so we were offered a NEW machine that is comparable (same brand/similar model) to the one we owned. I am very happy we have made the decision to go with a Service One contract/program
Description of Work: Came out to the house and looked at our broken washing machine. Was not able to fix so offered a new one at the cost of the service fee (75.00)

I am going to describe each incident to be best of my recollection: HVAC repair: It was right in the dead of winter (late January/early February), and at around 6:30, I noticed that my house was getting rather chilly. My first instinct was to shut any open windows or doors, but after a thorough search of the house, I concluded that it was not an open portal. I then went to the thermostat and it read 60 F, but it indicated that it was heating (I have a Nest and it shows Red when it is heating). I went down to the furnace, and it was dead. I called Service One immediately (on a home warranty), but they were closed so I had to call their emergency line. It was -15 F outside, and the temperature inside was dropping rather quickly. I made the call around 7, and the associate assured me that the service worker would be to my house in an hour. 8:30 rolled around, and so one showed, so I called again. It felt like I was in the movie Groundhog Day, because I had to tell THE SAME PERSON the exact same information, and she responded like it was my first time calling. Again, she assured me that he would be by in an hour. I informed her that she said that last time, so she said she would call him directly. 10:00 pm rolled around (I'm sure you see where this is going), and I called back. This time I reached another person, and explained everything to her, adding that the inside temperature was now at 51 F. After taking my information, she stated that he would be by in an hour (I'm guessing that this is a standard time for stalling). Midnight hit, and I called for the 4th time, stating that my inside temperature was now 44 F. Long story short...the service man showed up at 2:00 AM (I still had to wake up at 6:00 AM for work the next day). At that time, the inside temperature was 39 F. I was livid. He worked on the HVAC for 20 minutes, replaced some melted wires, and finally it was repaired. Then he charged me $85 for the deductible. Oven repair (currently it is still broken): On the 17th of June, I called Service One (I still have the home warranty, since a year was included in the purchase of my house) to repair my oven, which had short circuited and melted the 220v cord. They set an appointment for the 19th and showed up 30 minutes late. The repairmen spent about an hour working on the oven only to inform me that they needed to order parts and would have to come back. I scheduled a follow up appointment for the next week, and they installed a and quot;jury-rigged bypassand quot; (his actual words) on the oven to allow me to use it in the interim. I scheduled to be at home from 1200-1500 on the 27th of June to be available for the repairmen, since they cannot guarantee a time, just a service window. I am active duty military, and I fly for a living. I had to pull myself off a training mission in order to make this appointment, due primarily to the fact that my girlfriend (who runs her own business making soap) requires the use of the oven everyday for her business. The night before the appointment, Service One calls, and states that they miss-scheduled the appointment, and that the repairman is only in my area from 0800-1100. At this point, I have already pulled myself off the flight, but I had to call my boss and let them know the times had changed. I wake up the next morning at 0730, and 10 minutes later I receive a phone call from Service One stating that the repairman was on his way and would be at my home by 0800. At 0820, I receive another call from Service One, stating that and quot;even though he was supposed to be hereand quot;, at which point the call failed. I waited another 10 minutes for the customer service rep to call back (she doesn't), and then I called Service One myself. After another 10 minutes tracking the specific employee down, she thanks me for calling back (shouldn't she have called ME back?) and states that the repairman was on his way, when he realized that they didn't have the correct bolts to affix the new power cord to the oven. Seriously? The day of, and you figure this out?? After you told me you are on the way? After I rearranged my life for you? My home warranty is over after this repair (if it ever comes), and I. Will. Never. Deal. With. Them. Again. Be warned! ***UPDATE*** 22AUG14 Since this last entry, the servicemen came back in a timely manner and fixed my oven. Shortly thereafter I received a phone call from one of the supervisors within the company asking me to reconsider my grade and review on Angie's List. They explained that because they are such a small company, that this review might have a devastating effect on their future dealings. I, too, am a small business owner, and I can understand where this may be a problem, but I also understand that their failure in their customer service and scheduling department is also a direct reflection of their company atmosphere, and I will not be changing my review. On top of that, she placed the onus on me to raise the problem to a higher level if I am having a problem with customer service. This sounded a lot like an attempt at shifting the issue, and I have no respect for a company that will not take primary responsibility on their workers. No, I'm sorry, but when one of my employees makes a mistake, I am ultimately responsible for the issue. Last straw the broke the camel's back: They just auto-renewed my policy without my permission and sent me an invoice for another year. Get ahold of your company and take responsibility for your failures.

We have been a Service One customer for over 10 years. We are on the total home protection plan the they have always performed well. The work quality is high and if your house has problems in the house the plan can save you a ton of money. We've had complete replacements of a dishwasher, fridge, hot water heater and a 2.5 ton AC unit, all for the $85 deductible each time. I've used them regularly to perform projects that are not covered under the plan. I highly recommend them.

Kevin originally came out January 10, 2014, because we had water shooting out from the side of our house (same day). Come to find out our sprinkler system company did not do their job correctly when winterizing our system. He came out promptly and stopped the water flow and wrote up another ticket to repair the leak and repair the piping. However, this could not be done until the winter was over. All went well and there were no surprises. So now we can check Angie's List for a reliable sprinkler company.

We bought the Service One home warranty just after we moved into our new house in January (after a recommendation from a friend) and I am so glad we did. Just recently as it warmed up we scheduled our AC service to have it included in our warranty coverage but the compressor was broken and leaking (although it was declared working by the previous homeowner) and as the whole system was the original when the house was built 18 yrs ago, it made sense to replace it. Unfortunately this was not covered by the warranty but our Comfort Advisor, Matt, did a brilliant job of finding the best replacement for our house. Within one week it was installed - the technicians arrived on time and were very courteous, cleaned up after themselves and within a couple of hours it was all done. Just before the AC broke we had some technicians out about our very noisy and leaking dishwasher, as the part to replace was almost $240, and the machine was very old, we were offered money towards a new machine. We used Factory Appliance Direct and got a brand new, almost silent dishwasher which looks lovely in our kitchen. It's great having the dishwasher on and being able to hear the TV!!! They provided a very easy service to shop for a replacement. We are very happy with our experience so far with Service One, their customer service skills are strong and I would definitely recommend them.

Appointment scheduled Thursday arrival between 1200-1500. plumber arrived at 1630. upon arrival the plumber looked at the crawl space from a distance and said he wasn't going to be able to fix it. He also stated that he didn't have cpvc pipe in his vehicle. What kind of plumber comes without supplies!? He didn't even look closely at the crawl space. The guy did put shut off valves on the lines so I could use water in the rest of my house (I provided the shutoff valves). I called Tuesday in hopes of getting water restored by the weekend. No such luck. I was wanting to get a estimate on replacing a drain line but the plumber refused. highly unsatisfied. I fixed the busted line that weekend and will not be using service one ever again!
