They did call back and say they could possibly have a technician out on Saturday 5/18 but could not guarantee a time and I would have to be and quot;on calland quot; all day. They could not even narrow down the time to morning or afternoon! I finaly had to beg a neighbor to do the repair,(who likes to do that). He did it with a smile, but refused to take a penny! (I did bake him and his family, who he could have spent time with instead, some coffe cakes)! I also had called the Service One office to have some electrical switches changed in my kitchen, The person answering told me that the service call itself was $70.00 plus time and parts. I could not afford that, and am looking for a handyman instead,(and that is AFTER paying $54.00/month for my contract). When I called to cancel my contract, the woman that I spoke to essentially said that was a lie, so I left left it at that and said goodbye. Needless to say, I cancelled and am not happy with Service One.In all fairness, a few years ago, they did some appliance repair that was excellent, but $54.00/mo is a lot to pay and quot;in caseand quot; your appliance goes out. They say a normal house call is approx $25.00(in addition to the mothly fee) and that whoever told me it would be $70.00plus was wrong, but I suggested that they train people better that are required to give out that information over the phone!!
Description of Work: Nothing. When I called for preventive maintanence on my air conditioner, I was told nothing could be done before May1, even tho I explained I had started a new job and only received my schedule one week in advance and that was the only week I knew for sure I could schedule something. Then with the hot streak the AC did not work. I was told on Thursday 5/16 that the first available appointment was Wednesday 5/22.

We apologize for your frustrations and fully understand them. This Spring’s weather was very cold and wet and happened much later in the year than we hoped. Our guidelines when scheduling air conditioner maintenance is above 60 degrees and not raining. Our best weather predications led to May as being the starting point for scheduling these. This lateness in warmer weather, also compiles the service issue for the Heating & Air Conditioning industry. The first hot or warm “spell” is always the busiest. We build the schedules and then as the day progress, we are able to call customers to move them forward, which we did in your case. Generally, we are able to give morning or afternoon appointments, as well as courtesy lead times or work arounds. I am sorry this wasn’t the case for you. You are very correct in that our Solution Center representatives should be correct in the information they give over the phone. The Gold Plan does cover electrical issues for the $25 trip fee. There are times when items are outside coverage and the normal trip fees are quoted ($70). The Solution Center representative may have misunderstood something and quoted “out of agreement” coverage rates. Again, we apologize for this series of events. Some items were out of our control, and some could have been handled better. Thank you for taking the time to relay your concerns.

I was told the first available date they could come and service the heat pump that was not working was 12 days later. I advsied that this was not acceptable. They told me they were very bust. I advsied that is not my problem. I have paid for a warranty and 12 days to responde is not acceptable. They said they would call me back. they did not. I called back later in the day and got same response and they again did not call back. I requested an entire refund of the home warranty as this was not acceptable response to a plan that had already been paid for. They did not call me back.
Description of Work: I have a home warranty with Service One for a rentla property ona house I purcahsed 3 montsh ago. My heat pump was not working so I called for service as this was covered under the home warranty.

The plumber arrived quickly and fixed the leak. While he was here, he also fixed a toilet that was flushing spontaneously. There was a single fixed charge for the visit, regardless of the number of issues that he addressed. This is only the most recent service I have received from Service One. For most of our 18 years in Omaha, we have had Service One engaged on an annual contract to maintain most of the appliances and systems ( electrical and plumbing) in our home. We have kept them over that long period because their service has been excellent. There have been issues at times, but we were always able to resolve them to our satisfaction. I am pleased to recommend their service to anyone seeking a single point of contact for home appliance and system repair. Our contract also includes servicing the furnace each fall.

I had Service One out for a issue with our Humidifier. After dealing with them I opted in for a service contract for 1 year. It was never communicated to me over the phone that this was a binding contract. Really this is my fault for not reading the paper work when I got it in the mail. I should have double checked. How I found out was I replaced my card and they started calling for billing. At 33.00 a month, the service is just not worth it, so I told them i just wanted to cancel and they told my I could not and would forward me to collections if I did not follow through. You can imagine I was a little upset, but I just dealt with it. I specifically told her I did not want to renew at the end and asked if I needed to do anything when its over. She was very clear and said NO, I would not billed after the year was over. Fast forward to today. I see a charge and call to double check when its over, knowing I should not be charged again. What does the girl tell me? That is just auto-renewed. I'm waiting to find out if its a lock-in for another year as they put me through to a voice mail (not a good idea with a pretty p***** off person.)
Description of Work: Originally I had them out to service our humidifier. Then a service contract for one year (terrible idea) Had them out to service our humidifier again and it was not done correctly. I did not work and had to have them out again to get it working.

They never showed up and we called someone else after 2 1/2 days.
Description of Work: This company came along with building our new regency home. We are contracted with them until the year 2016. On 10/5/2012 our furnace would not start. We call service one that afternoon to come and repair the furnace. They said they would not be able to repair it until Monday am and to call back Monday morning. Mean while during the weekend we had a killing frost and the temp in the house was down to 62 degrees in the morning. Called Monday morning at 9am and the person said we were on the list. Called again at noon and said a technician would be there when he was out in our direction. Called again at 2pm and spoke to a Kate whom is in customer service. some customer service she said whomever we had talked to on friday should have told us to call back between 8 and noon on saturday and checked on the status then. told her that this was not acceptable and that i was letting Angie's List know! They never did come we called Bogatz heating and air, they were out in less than 2 hours after a call. Brad was a very polite and professional technician. Never did hear anything back from Service One. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!!!!!!!!!

Of note this complaint was filed with the Omaha Better Business Bureau on 7/19/2012 and closed on 7/27/2012. Interestingly the complaint cannot be readily accessed by consumers for their review.
Description of Work: This letter is to voice our displeasure and make other individuals aware of certain business practices. We originally signed up with Service One in approximately 1990 for our first home in the Omaha area. The contract was maintained until we sold the home in 2001, building a new home and moving in 2001. After the builder's warranty expired, we signed a new agreement with Service One for the new home in June of 2003. We continued to pay our premiums and obtaining service on a regular basis.More recently we called for service for a leaking refrigerator. The company responded by saying that they have never covered second or third appliances in a home. We were amazed, because in the past this issue had never come up. We reviewed our contract, which clearly stated that all appliances were covered and even listed all the appliances that were in our house. The company requested a copy of our contract and eventually an individual called back, again reiterating that second appliances required an additional fee. When I asked when the policy had changed, I was given a vacillating answer between 2007 and 2009. After a prolonged time of waiting, she also stated that we had been notified sometime in the past of the change, although could not tell me when. I advised her that we had never received any such document. She related that she would send me a copy, although it may take some time to find. We called on a number of occasions, being advised that for only $107 more, they would cover the additional items. Approximately one week later we received a two page document that documented the service changes as of January 2010. We did notice a significant change in services provided, including ceiling limits on items covered and significant changes in what was covered. When we called most recently, we were advised that to cover all the previously covered items would require an additional $214. In retrospect what has also been somewhat disconcerting has been the response time for problems, often requiring a week or two for the technician to present for evaluation of the problems. For example between 4/15/2008 and 5/4/2012, we had 20 visits for mostly service problems/preventative maintenance ($79 for each service request) for our heater/air conditioner unit (geothermal), finally culminating in the replacement of the compressor, with no subsequent problems. On many an occasion we had no air conditioning or heat for an interval, until the technician came, as the problem was not considered emergent. It would seem that a major contractural change (40% of covered items) would require a new contract and at the minimum a signed document that such changes had occurred and were acknowledged. The fact is my wife and I are very cognizant of change notices that occur (eg: credit company cards, etc) and did not receive notice of a change yet alone ever signing a new document. Apparently the contracts that initially required are no longer used and we question whether there was any mutual benefit, as the company changes practices without significant notification. We are also concerned with the vacillating responses given and apparent changes in fees. When told one fee and then sometime later told that a higher fee would be required for the same services. We understand that economics change and that companies need to change, but we feel there has been a significant deterioration of overall philosophy and services. We would like to go on record as giving a poor/F recommendation for this company. What may be very significant is the number of other consumers who are not aware of these practices and may be paying for services that are no longer covered.

Member, I want you to know that ServiceOne does take the feedback from our customers seriously. Our goal is to provide quality service while maintaining the integrity of our program guidelines. We also appreciate the years you have continued to choose ServiceOne. In looking at your service history, we can agree our program has been a very valuable resource for you, as well as in your decision to continue with our program through the years. As a general reminder, for the ServiceOne Home Warranty at $395.00 per year, your coverage includes parts & labor and potentially replacement of the furnace, air conditioner, humidifier, electrical, plumbing, water softener, water heater, whirlpool bath, dishwasher, refrigerator, range, range exhaust fan, microwave, disposal, sump pump, trash compactor, freezer, washer, dryer, whole house fan, garage door opener, and central vacuum. As with any organization, ServiceOne made the determination to review and change its pricing and coverage. In 2010, we did make changes to the coverage, including adding some coverages to our program including built-in appliances, foreign appliances and water softener coverage. ServiceOne notified every customer at time of renewal with a letter, with a bright stamp on the envelope, highlighting that important information is contained. As you referenced, one of those changes was the coverage for additional appliances not in the primary kitchen/ laundry. Instead of restricting coverage, we allowed the option for covering additional appliances at $100 per year per set. Since you have 2 more refrigerators, beyond the primary refrigerator you wanted extra coverage on, along with dishwasher, washer /dryer, water heater, disposals, it would be $200+tax per year. You also referenced the cap we added. It is for appliances and its $1200.00 per appliance. In an average home, without multiple appliances that would equate to over $13,000 in coverage. Please note, heating and air conditioning and water heaters do not have any “cap” applied. I am definitely sorry that you weren’t aware of the changes before calling for service. We strive to educate our customers and we understand that at times customers may or may not have read the terms & conditions. We did agree to fix the current problem with the 2nd of your 3 refrigerators, while adding the coverage moving forward. Member, your choosing to continue with ServiceOne for years does have significance. It means that you valued our service and were satisfied to continue with our program. It means there was a trust in our organization, which I believe should extend to ServiceOne as a whole. We do not and have not made changes to our program without notification. We offered to fix your current issue with your appliance under the program. It is my understanding you have cancelled your warranty with us. I wish we had been able to move forward, but it seems that is not possible. Please accept my apologies for any confusion or stress you may have encountered in this experience. If in your future, you find that you would like to return to ServiceOne, please let me know.

I would highly recommend them. They are a very good company. For what I paid and the amount the repairs I ended up using them for, it was well worth the money. They were very courteous and professional, I even got to know some of their employees since the same workers came back multiple times. I had to have my furnace almost totally rebuilt and the whole thing only cost $80 when it normally would have been $300-400 or more.

I have nothing but good to say about Service One; in all the years I've used them I've had no problems. I get a service representative immediately, scheduled in a very reasonable amount of time, the technicians come out on time and complete their work professionally, quickly and accurately. If they need to make a return trip, they call us when the part is in and make an appointment at a time that is convenient to us. I use them every year for our furnace, air, and heat pump check; if I forget to schedule the check, they call and remind me. Over the years they've repaired electrical outlets, washer, dryer, dishwasher, freezer, range, etc. If they can't fix the appliance, they give you a letter which entitles you to buy a new appliance at contractor rates. I highly recommend Service One and would never go elsewhere for any of the covered services.
Description of Work: I have used Service One for years; I signed up at the beginning of the program and originally had all service fees, repairs, parts, etc. for free. They eventually did institute a $25 trip charge, but it is still worth the monthly fee. The last time they came out, they checked my range top which was shocking me and tripping the circuit breaker. It was an easy fix, although they had to make a second trip after ordering a part. However, I only had to pay one $25 trip charge as it was only one 'problem'.

I was very happy with them. I don't remember the price charged by them, but I thought it was a very fair rate. They were a little bit more expensive than the least expensive person out there, but they were less than a lot of others. They also did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. They were here when they said they would be.
