I chose Nebraska Home Appliance because of their A rating on Angie's List. I call them on a Saturday before Easter about an above-range microwave that was working intermittently. They said they could look at it, and I brought it in that afternoon. On Monday they called and said a set of door locks were faulty and they were overnighting them to get the repair done on Tuesday - great news! Tuesday afternoon I called them, and learned that the repair person broke a lock mounting bracket in the process of replacing the locks. A replacement bracket was on order. On Thursday I called and learned the replacement bracket had arrived but it was broken, possibly in-transit. I wasn't going to have the microwave for Easter weekend cooking. Their regular distributor was out of brackets and they were ordering another from the factory. The next Tuesday I learned that the bracket was on backorder but expected to be in soon. The following Wednesday (after 2-1/2 weeks from coming in initially) I learned the bracket was still on backorder. I let them know that if they didn't get a delivery date on the part by the end of the week I wanted to know the part number, and I'd order the part myself from an online service and overnight it. That Friday I went to the shop and asked for a status, and it was still backordered. I asked for the part number, and Greg said that if they didn't have a status by Saturday he'd overnight a part from another source. On Tuesday I called Greg and he said he'd ordered the part and gave me the UPS tracking number. The part, along with some other part, had been ordered Monday not overnight but ground. Delivery was expected on Friday. I checked UPS Friday and the part was delivered. I got the call Saturday morning, four weeks after coming in, that the unit was ready. I picked up the microwave, paid my bill as it had been originally estimated, and with my wife mounted it back above the range. The first thing we noticed was a pair of vertical dents in the middle of the door that weren't there before (there is nothing for the door to bang into in our mounting location. Obviously, four weeks at their shop allowed it to get banged up somehow. We aren't contacting them about the damage; it isn't worth the hassle.
Description of Work: Repaired faulty microwave locks, and broke a lock mounting bracket in the process, taking a total of four weeks to complete the repair.

I called to have my washing machine looked at because the agitator didn't seem to be working properly. Vince, the technician, was very cordial and professional during the service call. He explained that problem was more extensive and described in detail what the repair would entail. Given the age of the washer, it was more economical to purchase a new washing machine as opposed the fixing the existing issues. I would use Nebraska Home Appliance again and would request Vince due to his knowledge and professionalism.

Our repairs done by Nebraska Home Appliance were covered by an extended warranty from NFM. The warranty provider setup the initial repair request, but I had to make changes to our appointment so I had interaction with their personnel. Their scheduler was very helpful and got us scheduled sooner then the appointment originally provided by the extended warranty provider. They gave us a time frame of when they would arrive and their automated system called us when the technician was just finishing up the job before us. This allowed us to still run some errands around town without having to sit and wait for someone to randomly show up. The technician quickly diagnosed the problem, made the necessary repairs, and we have ice once again. I would definitely call them for future services on my appliances.

The operator that made my appointment was a little snippy b/c I didn't know and couldn't find my oven's serial number. She wasn't that great. However, Scott, the repair person was great. The service itself went very well. They were polite, on time and efficient and professional. However, they did not offer a senior discount like I thought they would. A 15 minute service call ended up costing me $75! Just due to pricing I won't be calling them back out.

Dennis Gibson serviced our dishwasher. This dishwasher has given us nothing but problems. 2 years old and have had problems the second the warranty expired. My wife talked me into having it serviced and I figured it would be way too expensive and just buy a new one. Called Nebraska Home Appliance and they came out a day later and saved us at least $900. Very knowledgeable and took his time to show us what was wrong and how to fix it in the future if it ever had problems. I highly recommend this company and Dennis.

The serviceman came out as scheduled the first time to look at the ice maker. He simply reset it to see if that would fix the ice maker to start making ice. We were charged $96 and told that if it didn't work to call them back and there was a 30 day warranty and they would come back. Sure enough the "fix" did not do anything. I called and they were able to get him back the following week. We were given a 1pm-4pm time slot. After 4, and I mean like at 420pm I called and asked if we were no showed. The lady answering the phone seemed agitated that I implied this and told me the repairman was simply backed up and we were next on the list. We received no phone call, nothing to just give us the heads up he was going to be late. My wife was waiting to make dinner. The repairman showed up around 5pm. Bottomline: he fixed the problem. However, there were some minor professionalism problems we had. First, he simply grabbed one of my wife's pyrex dishes off the counter to dump ice in. He didn't ask, just did it. I would have gladly let him it just common courtesy when you are in someone else's house. The other thing was he worked on the ice maker with extremely dirty hands. I get it! You work hard for a living and most of the jobs you do are dirty. However, if you are working on someone's appliance that supplies food items, washing your hands is suggested. We had to wipe black handprints off the fridge and inside the ice maker. Finally, after he replaced the ice maker we ended up having to put screws back in that he forgot to put back in. The ice maker works now but does not sit in the same position it did previously. At one point he was yanking on it and something popped. My wife made a comment that "that didn't sound good" and he said "yeah I know." C'mon man. Overall, I gave them a C simply because the ice maker makes ice again. That's about it.

The service went pretty good, it is working now. When they came out, they didn't have the part, but they were able to get it within 2 days, and the whole thing was fixed a week later. It was cheaper than I thought it was going to be. I hired them because I am in Virginia and the house is in Nebraska.

He was on time and polite. Did not remove his shoes, nor did he have the drip pan he needed to drain the washer filter. While he was working he held the cell phone to his ear in order to connect with the company. Things were left in order, but the cost of the repair was over $450 so I decided to replace the washer instead. A big disappointment since I needed a washer before traveling out of town the next day.

I phoned them on Friday; she had an appt in my area the next day between 9-12. The tech, Dan, phoned me before he came out. He was informative and very nice. He quickly assessed the problem and got right to it. The only negative I had is the billing. I have no idea what I paid for. I was e-mailed the receipt and it only states "heater" and the price. I have NO idea how much was labor, trip fee, the part, taxes, etc. I did use an Angie's coupon which took $15 off the total. I understand we're all modern these days, but I wished they had a portable printer or a wi-fi printer in the van so I had something in hand. And, while he told me there's a 90-day warranty on parts and labor - it says nothing on the receipt. So I have no proof it they do indeed back up their work for 90 days.

I have been an avid user of Angies list and this is the worst experience I have. I had a problem with a clothes washer and called approximately 4 days ahead to schedule an appointment for them to come out. So they gave me a three hour window of when they would show up. I waited for three hours and no one showed up. After 15 minutes of being late after waiting 3 hours plus, I called the service department. I gave the representative the problem and he told me he he would call the service rep who was running late and get right back. So, I waited approximately 40 minutes and never got a call back. So I called the representative in the service department again. His response was that the service rep was to call me. I told him he never did. Again, he told me he would call the service rep and see where he was and get back to me. I stayed on hold for a few long minutes and he told me he could not get an answer on the phone from the service rep. He then apologized and told me this is usually not the case. So he asked if I wanted to reschedule. I told him I would be free the next day in the afternoon and could be available His response was that he could not fit it in. At that point my patience was pretty thin. I told him that I use Angie's list and this is a big disappointment and I will go elsewhere to get the washer fixed. They say all these nice things on their web page about the service of their company. This experience was certainly not reflective of what the say about customer satisfaction.. Maybe their service is good but if you cant get it done on a timely basis I would recommend using some other company.

Used this provider because of Angie's List recommendation and $15 off coupon provided on Angie's List. The GOOD: Automated call received to confirm appointment. Technicians arrived timely and were polite and courteous. I told them exactly what needed to be done as I had already diagnosed the problem. They gave me a price in advance which I thought was high but I wanted the repair completed and a "service charge" was waived if the repair was completed. Technicains completed installation of replacement part and appliance operation test in less than 30 minutes. The NOT SO GOOD: Total cost for repair was $168.30 after application of the $15 coupon. Asked the technician the breakdown between parts and labor and he indicated most of the cost was for labor. Reveived a receipt for the credit card payment at the completion of the visit but they were not able to provide a detailed repair invoice at that time. Technician indicated one would be sent via e-mail. It was not. Called to get invoice and one was sent almost immediately. Invoice only shows service performed and total charge. No parts or labor charge breakdown provded. If the replacement switch cost $30, the labor charge for a 30 minute repair would have been $138 after $15 coupon credit making the hourly repair rate somewhere in the neighborhood of $250 per hour. Even if there were a standard charge for the repair of 1 hour, the hourly rate would have been what I consider quite high. If a future repair would be needed, I would probably use a different provider OR ask more questions initially about the labor costs involved.

Although I couldn't get scheduled for a few days from the time I called, the service was great. I had water running into the bottom of my refrigerator and then freezing beneath my produce drawer. Shannon, the technician, arrived during the time scheduled and was able to quickly diagnose that the heater was out. He was able to replace it and make sure everything was in working order in a very short amount of time. I will definitely use them for future appliance needs.

The service tech was on time, worked diligently to determine the cause of the problem (dryer not producing heat to dry the clothes), drove to pick up the part (apparently this part doesn't go out very often so it's not one they typically carry on the truck), communicated the cost, installed the part and my dryer worked. Several days after the service call, I noticed it was taking a lot longer for clothes to dry although I knew the dryer was producing heat. I called NHA and the same service tech came out less than two days later (again, on time and very professional); he realized the exhaust hose was kinked; once the hose was unkinked the service tech used his equipment to verify that the dryer was producing adequate heat and air flow - all at no charge.
Description of Work: Replaced the sensor in my Whirlpool Duet gas dryer.
