Description of Work: This was our second experience with American Rooter. We had them add a toilet, run lines for a utility sink and put our washer hookups in a box so we could finish the wall in our laundry room. They were very professional and did a good job. Our first experience was when they came on a Husker football Saturday as an emergency call to replace our old water heater whose pressure valve finally gave out. The even hunted around town for the type we wanted. This is a good company and nice people to work with. We would recommend them!

I give American good marks on the quality of their workmanship and the ability to schedule same day service. I give them extremely low marks on cost of their services and the quality of materials used. We paid $700 (including $120 for a three year warranty) for the replacement of the shower handle and valve. Of the total amount, nearly $500 was charged for the unit that sells for under $100 on line, and the valve, which again can be purchased for about $100. What we got was a poorly labeled front piece that has tiny hot and cold indicators (a snowflake and a sun) that will be gone with any hot water deposits. It works, but this is no luxury $490+ shower handle, folks. Rather than take my review on line first, I emailed American with what I liked about their service and what I didn't like, which was 1)the ridiculous cost and 2) the quality of the front piece. Not wanting to merely jump to the conclusion that the price was too high, I did research on line to determine the average cost for such work. Uniformly, the price listed was between $425 and $500 total, which was about what my husband and I expected. To his credit the owner called and wanted to talk about my email and my experience. When I told him his prices seemed to high, he countered with, "well, with out equipment and our trucks, this is what we have to charge." Well, I'm not responsible for his business plan or his bottom line. Needless to say, we won't be calling them again. If you do, prepare to have your checking account drained (pun intended.)

Response from American Rooter Plumbing
Hi [Member Name Removed], Thank you for taking time today to discuss your concerns. We are glad to hear that the technician provided you with quality work and arrived in the time slot scheduled. However, based on our follow up with you, we offered to replace the material that was installed with something different but you said that would not satisfy you. When you shop at box stores like Home Depot, Lowes, or even online, you cannot find plumbers grade materials. These materials that are available to you, have had defects and then modified for resale. Our offer still stands and encourage you to take us up on the offer to allow us to replace the material with something you would be satisfied with. I understand that this is something you would see on a regular basis and would hate for you to despise it every time you look at it. If you don't like it today, you are not going to like it months down the road. Call our office anytime and we will gladly send someone over to provide you with something different. Thank you.

Bradd and Saul (helper) called to let us know they were on their way. Did a great job of installing new toilet but drain clearance presented a huge problem. Eventually cleared out by accessing clog in pipe from roof. This saved us a bathroom remodel. Great to work with. Would definitely call again. They emailed us with a picture of who to expect with a background synopsis. I found this an impressive part of their customer service.

I truly appreciate their hard work throughout this project. They responded almost immediately to my call regarding sewage backing up into our basement. They worked over 14 hours in one day, even in the dark, to ensure that we would be able to take a shower, flush the toilet, etc. They kept me in the loop the entire time over the 3 days that they were there. From assessment, replacement, and final completion, they proved to be the best!

Because I had several things wrong with my drains and toilet, American Rooter had to make 3 or 4 trips to my house to get everything fixed/installed. I had called some other plumbing companies, including one I had used for six years, but was not satisfied with the results. Several major clogs were actually made worse and several new problems were created in the process of trying to unclog my bathroom sink, which was bigtime clogged. I also had a new toilet installed and although my old toilet flushed fine, every third or fourth flush it would either overflow or threaten to do so. I called American Rooter after reading excellent reviews on Angie's List for this company. They showed up on time every time they came to my house and always called me to let me know they were coming. They were very polite and courteous and respectful of certain things that were important to me. They had state of the art equipment to quickly locate the nasty clogs in my pipes. He told me that many plumbers do not have this type of expensive equipment. He quickly diagnosed all problems and got rid of all my clogs and installed my new toilet, after cleaning out the pipes. The work done on my bathtub drain was excellent and he was able to get rid of the loud gurgling sound from my bathtub drain when the toilet was flushed. The head plumber, Brad, really knows his plumbing. All my recommendations are positive. The prices are not low, but you get what you pay for. If you want the job done right in a highly professional manner, then I highly recommend this company.

Went online found this company and printed off a coupon they offered for a 93 dollar drain cleaning...called the company to make a appointment and asked about the amount...they said 93.00 no mention of any other costs. Service man comes and cleans drain when he is done I ask for the amount and he says 93.00 plus a service fee of 50.00 and tax. I understand the tax but the service fee should have been mentioned...not good business

I had tried a couple of times on my own to rent a snake and clear this drain but it would only work for a few weeks and would then be backed up again. I finally called a couple of places including American Rooter because they had been recommended to me. Their price was reasonable/comparable with everyone else, the technician was polite and respectful, and the job was done right. I will definitely call them in the future for any drain clearing needs.

American Rooter sent out a very professional and polite plumber. After asking several thorough questions about the history of the house and the drains, he then proceeded to open the drain with a 3" (I think) snake. He suspected that the problem might be roots where the drain line met with the city's pipe. The blockage was about 75 feet down the line. After clearing it, he then sent down a camera, which showed exactly where the problem was and what caused it. It was exactly as the plumber guessed. What made the experience worthwhile is that he explained exactly what was going on, what options I had to fix it in the short/near/long term, roughly how much they would cost, etc. I should also note that he was extremely careful about not creating any messes when using the snake and camera (employing tarps, booties, and other stuff). In all, if I have any issues in the future, I will give them a call.

What a great company!! They provided outstanding service. Each time a representative came to our home, they have been polite, informative, and very thorough. It nice to know that we can count on this company to not only make sure that we understand what is being fixed but that were being charged fairly. They came highly recommended to us by our home inspector and will continue to pass on that recommendation.

Had a recurring problem with a clogged kitchen/laundry drain line, that I finally was unable to clear by myself. Called American Rooter and spoke with Sarah, whose communication was excellent and by calling back when the technician was delayed, she allowed me to maximize my time by giving an accurate estimate of when the technician would arrive. Brian, the technician, was friendly and professional. He cleared the drain quickly and patiently explained some options to prevent buildup and clear the drain when necessary. The cost was reasonable and is charged as a fixed cost per job, so I didn't have to worry about how long things might take. I would definitely call American Rooter again, although I hope it won't be necessary for a drain clog. Bradd, the owner, does general plumbing.

I was so impressed with this Company. They showed up on time, put booties on before coming into my home. They were so professional. My Daughters long hair has been a problem for years with the drain. I have had other Plumbers out and it would be clear for a couple days, then draining slow again within days. I had them out months ago and the drain is running as good as it was the day they were here. In fact the bath tub drain has never worked as well as it has since I had them out. They also fixed a couple leaky faucets, which also have been great since then. They also called me to follow and make sure I was happy with their services. I highly recommend them. FIVE Star Plumbing Company for sure. :)

I was so worried about finding a plumber the evening before a holiday, but he does not charge extra for evening or holidays. He told me when he would get to my house and he was there a bit earlier. It was a very difficult clog but he did everything he needed to do and about 2 hours, my sinks were clean and water flowing nicely. He was very friendly & professional. I was expecting a huge bill, but it was very reasonable. He took every precaution to make sure that no water was spilled. I would recommend him and will use him anytime I need a plumber in the future.
Description of Work: While getting ready to leave town for a vacation, I started a load of dishes and both of my sinks backed up and were full of water. After several unsuccessful attempts to clear out the drain, I had to find a plumber who was available and reasonable as it was 5pm before the holiday.

Brian is honest and has a great work ethic. He responded quickly, did the work well, gave me options for short and long term fixes, communicated directly when something didn't go as expected, would have worked on a holiday if I'd let him, and got the job done well. Having someone I trusted to make honest recommendations and to be in the family home is important to me, with that in mind I recommend American Rooter highly.

They were incredible! They gave us an estimate of what the work could be and if they had to go out to the street to the main. That estimate was about $8,700. They were able to get the job completed for only $4,888 and not have to go out to the main line. They were very professional and punctual. When they were digging up the basement, they sealed off the area so dust did not escape. The owner explained to both my wife and I what was going on and what they were going to have to do. We got it dug out at about 8am and they had the job completed by 3pm. I was thoroughly pleased with these people. They are great people to deal with. Before I had him over at the house, I never heard of him. Now, I wouldn’t use anyone else.

Don't use them! My son is buying a house and it's an older home and they just closed up their roots after they cleaned out up their lines. So, a week ago, I contacted them and set up an appointment for them to be there at the same as the home inspector to look down the main lines, who was gonna make sure there were no cracks in it or anything. They set up that appointment. When I got to the appointment with my son, the inspector showed up, but they never showed up. This was such an important thing and that's why I had set up an appointment a week ago. They didn't call me. They called the inspector, but that doesn't help. My son needed that done before he signed papers because if there is a crack in that line, he can't afford to get that. Now, I have to call another company who is going to meet with agent tomorrow. The girl from this American Rooter said it was her fault and she double booked her technicians. Why you should do that when you know you have an appointment a week out. I didn't make another appointment because I don't trust them to be there. My son was supposed to sign papers on Friday, and now, we have to get somebody in there quick. It just didn't make sense why they would do that.

The main sewer drain of my house had backed up...again...for the 3rd time in 6 weeks. The first time i used a powerful main drain cleaner. The clog cleared after about 8 hours and I spent the next day cleaning up. If you've every had to clean up that mess then you know how much fun that can be...if you haven't consider yourself lucky. Thing's were good for about 4 weeks when once again I found a cess pool in my FINISHED basement.. This time I decided I better "do it right". I went to the local hardware store and rented a 100 foot main drain auger. I fished the 3/4" steel cable into the drain 3 times, each time pulling out a large wad of tangled, thread like roots. The great thing about using a main drain auger is the shower of "black water" you get from the drum that the 3/4" x 100' cable is housed in as in spins while you are retracting the cable from the drain...YUCK! Anyway, after three attempts the clog cleared, the "water" receded. Things were good for about 2 weeks when I once again awoke to the musty smell of water in my basement. I once again went to the hardware store to get the main drain auger, I snaked the 3/4" x 100' cable into the freking main drain no less the 10 times...and...nothing! The stupid pool of "black water" just mocked me. So...defeated...i went to the internet to search for a professional. Did I mention this was Saturday afternoon at about 3:30. The first company I called wouldn't tell me how much they would charge me over the phone. They simply said they would send out a guy and he would tell me. Uh huh!? I've seen that one before. So the next company on the list was American Rooter. Connie (I think that's her name...my apologies if it's not) answered the phone and was very friendly. She got me connected with Bradd. I told him I had snaked the drain to 100' and that I needed him to bring the 125' snake. Bradd explained that he did snake drains past 100' but that he had another solution that would fix my problem for the long term...hydro jetting! He told me there was a flat $400 fee for the first 2 hours and then an hourly charge for beyond that. I was seriously concerned that he couldn't complete the job within 2 hours and explained to him that I really didn't want to pay any more then $400. He was gracious enough to add another hour to the flat rate. He told me he would be out within the hour and 45 minutes later he pulled up in my driveway! He got right to work. He was careful to lay tarps and protect my property from the hose he drug into my basement. he fired up his "hydro jetter" and within minutes had the clog cleared, but he wasn't done. He explained that no the he had cleared the clog he would now "clear the line". He put a different head on the high velocity water jet and spent the next hour and a half clearing all of the "root balls" out of my main drain, stopping once to refill the hydro jetter with water and explaining that he had come across a particularly large "root ball" that would take a little more effort. He knew this because he was using his pipe camera to examine the main drain as he progressed. This allowed Bradd to do a very thorough job! If you need to have your main drain cleared call Bradd! He will do it right. He will make sure that he doesn't have to come back any time soon!!
